Hey there! Since you're familiar with RHDN, you might want to cover the Secret Of Mana Turbo project. It's something to behold! There's enough to it that you might be able to give it it's own video. Just a thought.. BTW, totally agree with you about Top Gear!
I've been playing T-Edition myself. The most impressive thing to me is the separate ROM that serves as DLC, but ONLY if you have a save file that has reached a certain point from the main game. I've never seen a romhack do that before, very innovative.
As an oldskool gamer who has been in a coma for the past 20 years I'm not sure what a ROMhack is. Does anyone care to explain it? Is it like emulation? I'm so confused. The world is so different now.
@@mugsofmirth8101 ROM hacking is the process of modifying a ROM image or ROM file of a video game to alter the game's graphics, dialogue, levels, gameplay, and/or other elements. This is usually done by technically inclined video game fans to breathe new life into a cherished old game, as a creative outlet, or to make essentially new unofficial games using the old game's engine.

This is an often neglected area of discussion when emulation gets brought up. This is art.
These are the only rom hacks i play. It guarantees quality and keeps me sane from trying all the zillions of hacks. Kinda focuses me into a bottleneck of rom hack quality.
I mean romhacks and homebrew in the wider discussion of emulation. You usually hear arguments for or against piracy but the fact that creators make entirely new games with old assets and enhance old games isn't usually addressed.
@@Stevie-J i think the person means more from a general conversation among gamers about emulation. Many gamers and most of the major gaming media outlets just think of emulation as a gateway to play pirated games. But yeah, I also agree with you that there are plenty of content creators willing to discuss and play stuff like hacks and homebrews.
@@Stevie-J Everything under the sun has multiple youtubers who focus on it. Seems to me, however, that the average gamer knows what emulation and roms are but may have never heard of a rom hack. At least from my experience.
I couldn't agree more, and I really respect the makers of RomHacks that have unique art styles. I love the ROM hacking community

Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but another great SMW romhack is A Plumber for all Seasons. The creator redrew all of the art, background and sprites. It’s a pleasure to look at and play.

One of my favorites is the SMZ3 randomizer, that combines Super Metroid and A Link to the Past into one long game.
I love these videos where you tackle a group of games, romhacks, etc. Reviews of single games are fun but compilations are even better
Can't let this go by without suggesting Grand Poo World 2 which is a legit masterpiece. So many interesting ideas in there.

Currently playing ff6 tomato edition, and it's pretty great. I've played the original so, so, soooo many times and it's nice to finally have some new content for one of my all time fav games. If square won't do it, the fans will. And they done good.

I'll have to check that out. I played the New World hack, I think is what it's called, and that was fairly good.
FF6 T-Edition stands for Tsuishy Edition, who is the creator of the ROM Hack, it doesn't stand for Clyde's online name..

There are not as much romhacks for gba. The ones you usually find are either fire emblem/pokemon variants or hacks that fixes the games due to gba's limitations.

Loved seeing Kola Kingdom Quest on there. The sort of difficulty in that hack is generally what I strive for with my stuff. Challenging at the end, but still reasonable.

Since I've discovered the world of RomHacks I've literally had an endless amount of fun. I rarely buy any new game titles anymore, and even when I do I usually play them for a week or so go back to RomHacks. Always glad to see new videos covering this topic

Just discovered T-edition translated now along with Mother 2/Earthbound (my favorite) on my 3DSXL - I’ve not been able to stop bouncing back and forth when I need a break from either one, lol. Great work and video! So happy people brought this stuff to my attention. It breathes new life into some of my all time favorites ❤️
Another great rom hack video! I enjoy being introduced to new SNES rom hacks! I don't think I've heard of any of these! I'm glad these Mario ones aren't kaizo difficulty. I've been searching for ones that have about the same difficulty level as the original Super Mario World as I'm no expert at the game and enjoy a comfortable challenge.

Thanks for mentionning FF6 t-edition. I played it without english text thanks to guides and my general knowledge of the game but now, I am revisiting it in English on my DS on the go. It's amazing all the new stuff in it.
Other incredible SMK hacks you need to check out: Super Baldy Kart, Sour Music Kart and Epic Racers. They have brand new themes, drivers and even custom music!
Another awesome Non Kaizo SMW Hack: Super Mario Bros 1X. For me it’s one of the best out there. It’s a little bit older, like from 2018 or so, but absolutely worth a full playthrough. Fantastic romhack.
A newer awesome non kaizo SMW hack: A plumber for all seasons. The creator of this hack goes all in with customizing sprites, backgrounds, pixel art in general and game mechanics.
I always love these. I've gone through most of the good snes/super Famicom games at this point so it gives me something new. Plus it gives you infinite new material!

Man, I am personally drooling over that Star Fox Exploration RomHack. I wpuld love to see someone do something similar to Stunt Race FX. That game would be exponentially more approachable if it got even a frame rate boost. Love seeing these vids and the creativity people put into these roms.

Awesome to see you covering more SNES rom hacks, I just recently saw Oats and Goats, a Super Metroid Speedrunner do a contest involving super metroid Rom hacks, So i think you will have alot of Super metroid Roms still in the future. I beat FF6 ROTDS a while back, maybe when you make a part 5 i will take another look at it, im suprised they are still updating it.
