A programmer of the T2 SNES game has commented on a youtube video once. He said the deadlines were horrendous, literally forcing them to make the game as is. T2 is not a finished. They wished to do much more, but sadly could not due to deadlines. Even though there have been frequent all-nighters.
Sadly, that is the case with many failed games. Developers not given enough time to finish a game, or publishers actively going against the developer, ultimately hindering the final product. Today, and especially back before video games became mainstream, game developers was very specific job choice, so, of course they had a passion for it and wanted to make quality, entertaining products. Think about it... Nobody goes into software/game development thinking "I want to make a game like superman 64!" It's usually external forces that make shitty games.
@@thenifell Unfortunately having a passion for game development doesn't always go hand-in-hand with programming or time management skills. Of course nobody wants to make bad games. Blaming deadlines is just an excuse for relieving responsibility of overly-ambitious ideas and poor execution.

I got the SNES version for my birthday, and upon opening and playing it, I was devastated. Obviously, you couldn't return open games to Toys r Us, but I was so upset my mom called them and spoke to the manager. Unknown to me, my mom brought the phone right outside the door of my room so the manager could here me crying. I was weeping so bad that the manager felt bad and let us return it for store credit. I got a bunch of GI Joe's and a vehicle, and I was way happier with that.
When I was a teenager I traded in my Mario Sunshine, Zelda Wind Waker and Luigi's Mansion games because I didn't think I would ever miss them. I was a really dumb kid back then...

The Japanese Ranma games are actually playable though, if memory serves me right. Not fantastic but playable. Then again with a cast like that it's impossible not to have some fun with those.
Say, I wonder why SNES Drunk forgot to put the Mario games by The Software Toolworks on this list. The SNES is my favourite gaming console on its own and when it comes to the hundreds, maybe even THOUSANDS of masterpieces it has, but while all the games on the list just goes to show that even the best things in the world can have their flaws, what makes Mario’s Time Machine (although I would consider the NES version a good port of a bad game, as few examples as there may be), Mario is Missing and Mario’s Early Years any better? Is it because they’re just for kids? Is it because they spawned memes like Weegee, the Second Reality Project Reloaded version of Castle 3’s music and Mario’s Mystery Meat (which would definitely be fascinatingly understandable)? Because I think even kids deserve better than those games (sure, they’re harmless, but it just goes to show that inoffensive blandness existed even before the wave of painfully average animations we’ve been getting in the Alpha Generation that only exist to pander to kids instead of make any impact).
I got Space Ace for SNES when I was a kid, and when I saw this video's title, I had to make sure it was in the list. Then I realized it was in the thumbnail itself. Very appropriate; that game is cursed.
Ugh, Race Drivin' is the worst. Imagineering tried to push the SNES past what it was capable of and didn't have the skill to even come close to pulling it off. I even did a video review on what makes it so bad. Do not buy this game! Or any of the games on this list, for that matter.
Talon The Retro Gamer It was a port of an arcade game that had really early polygon effects. I believe it was 4 quarters to play, which was pretty rediculous at the time. It was one you sat in and had the steering wheel. I played it once in the arcade back in the day, and thought it was shit.
Pit Fighter more commonly known as Shit Fighter. Dear god, i remember playing that game as a kid and just hating it. I had a feeling it would be number one, rightfully so lol
I know about it all too well, played it in an arcade machine, in a bus terminal, they had a few arcade machines there at the time ( not anymore ) including Pit Fighter, it was way better in the arcades than what we have now on consoles, and there was a few stuff to use as weapons, it looked like we could fight dirty... In the arcades it was fairly ok, but on a consoles, forget it, it'd be a waste of money...
Not going to lie, I actually really enjoyed combat basketball as a kid. Although once I got good at it I remember it was way too easy and I would run up a huge score on my opponent every time. Building your team was great, wish there was something like that now that worked on the mechanics but brought over some key concepts.
I had actually been researching which developer consistently developed the worst (or at least most widely disliked) SNES games, and I think I've found my answer. It's Imagineering Inc, developer of SNES games such as: Casper David Crane's Amazing Tennis Family Dog Home Alone Home Alone 2: Lost in New York Home Improvement: Power Tool Pursuit! Race Drivin' The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends The Ren & Stimpy Show: Buckeroo$! Toys
Yeah, I'm not saying all of their games were bad, but they definitely seemed to have the biggest example of having more misses than hits when compared to other developers.
As a kid I rented Snes games too. Sometimes my neighbor and I rented a game together to save some money. Terminator 2 was the only occasion we returned a game the same day. Some time ago I showed my neighbor the AVGN episode about that game. We had a good laugh and even experienced the thing again via emulator 😂
It figures, I'm in the minority. I honestly liked Batman Forever, and Shaq Fu. I think the main reason why, is because both of those games are 1000 times better than the only game that ever made me run like a mother back to those games, Batman and Robin on the PS1.
2:04 - "What the hell is that supposed to be?" Music to go with the other thing Ballz are involved with. Also, fun fact, this was made by P.F. Magic, the people who made the first PC virtual pet programs; Dogz and Catz.
No idea why Ballz has such a bad reputation. It actually plays quite well. Its better than dozens of SNES fighters. I guess its come from a Nerd episode or something and everyone just accepts it as true without playing the game. You can make a convincing argument for why most games are terrible but Ballz played blind is interesting and unique. The circles doesnt look that bad. I appreciate the fact its not the same as dozens of other games. Ballz isnt a worse anything else - its a one off in the library - and for that, it should get a lot of credit
I really don't care about the best SNES game because there's so many good ones. Thanks for covering the worst SNES games and I agree with Pit-Fighter being the most evil SNES game ever. They missed a lot of important stuff in that port.
Snesdrunk, thank you for playing through those games so we didn't have to lol. I feel Sorry for you having to do that , but was very enjoyable from a spectators view . Your channel is the best gaming channel period . Your formula on everything is just spot on & genius . I'm like your biggest fan . Street Combat looks like a game you'd pick up as a last-minute gift at a Rite-Aid by the front counter on the way to a Christmas party for the party-l host's kid.
To be fair “Street Combat” had a story mode, where you could only play as either of two versions of the blonde guy, and a traditional Vs. mode that allowed you to play as any of the characters.
I made the mistake of asking for Bill Laimbeer's basketball for my birthday. Cause you know, why ask for a good one. Anyway man, great video as always.
I don’t hate wizard of oz. I had it as a kid, and I have zero idea on what you were supposed to do. I went back to play as an adult, and I can kinda figure it out, but it just feels like a weird fever dream. Definitely not a good game, but makes me feel like I’m on some bad drugs.
"what the hell am I doing with my life, doing videos like these..." lol, yeah, sometimes you end up playing something just for the sake of playing something and it sucks and then THE PONDERING BEGINS. It happened to me with The Mask game for snes... it was super tedious and repetitive and I just felt I was wasting my time... Have you played it? Anyways, I love it when you make (what I call) The Opinion Sandwich. Start saying something objective, then express your subjective opinion and end it with another objective point. Awesome video, the #1 video could've been seen from miles away !
Street Combat was actually the first Ranma 1/2 game. At the time noone knew what Ranma was in the states just yet so they removed all the characters and replaced with generic characters. For example the GI Jim guy with the staff was supposed to be Kendo, and the twin main characters were supposed to be male and female Ranma. The game was kinda generic anyway, but at least the original had better music and such and the added benefit that you were playing as the Ranma characters.
I'm going to try to think of 20 good games off the top of my head in no particular order. 1.a link to the last 2.donkey Kong country 3.final fight 1/2/3 4.mortal kombat 1/2/3 5. Street fighter 2 6. Dragon ball z hyper dimension 7. Dragon ball z super butouden 1/2/3 8. Dragon ball z super saiyan densetsuu 9. Dragon ball z gokuu densetsu 10. Earthbound 11. Diddy kongs quest 12. Secret of Evermore 13. Drakken 14. Jelly boy 15. Bat man the animated series 16. Spider man maximum carnage/separation anxiety 17. Mega man X 18. Shadowrun 19. Super metroid 20. Godzilla daikaiju daikessen 👍 I did have to think a bit but you're right there is hundreds more !
A distinct memory I have was that because Cinemaware’s Wings was possibly my favorite Amiga game I couldn’t go wrong with Wings 2 on SNES.. Wrong! Thankfully I was able to return it.. Also the first George Foreman game couldn’t be for real! Thankfully the 2nd one was decent so I guess that’s why they called it Foreman for Real..
Hey SNES drunk, i absolutely love your content. Please, never stop this! ;-) By the way, i have idea for a video. How about the "best GBA ports of SNES games", because there are so many good ones?
I actually think Earthbound is extremely overrated. Nowhere near the worst game nor even deserving to be part of a "worst of" list, but still way overrated.
1983 I think he already has a vid like that? Check his playlist. My personal top 3 overrated is Secret of M, Castlevania 4 and Turtles in Time. I know...biggies lol. But in exchange, I think some other titles are underrated like Hagane and Ninja Warriors. What are yours?
I haven't completed Earthbound, lost interested while playing it. But I do like other turn based RPGs. I have played many other SNES RPGs and played a ton of PS1/Saturn era RPGs. I slowed down a bit in the early 2000s due to time constrains but it's not like I dislike the genre.
Hm, I see, idk then, other than the difficulty idk what could discourage a playthrough. I found it to be a nice breathe of fresh air after dropping some other Snes rpg's that I couldn't finish namely Breathe of Fire (no pun intended), SoM and Lufia 2. I felt EB's leveling to feel very tangible and rewarding, the challenge to be welcome and intense at times, and I appreciated the uniqueness of every characters assets/weaknesses. I kind of felt like a Pokemon game to me somewhat. It doesn't have the greatest story or character development though, so I think that could put some folks off, but the overall rpg experience I feel is there due to its unique/funny setting & challenge. Still, FFVI is the best one on the system imo and my favorite, but I haven't played Chrono yet, which I will eventually.
I couldn't finish FF8. It was actually the Final Fantasy game that broke me and caused me to lose interest in playing future games. And I love Chrono Trigger...but I've never beaten it. I know, I know, I'm ashamed. And Earthbound is the best game ever made.
Ok, i know its popular opinion to hate on batman forever.. But it was one of my favorite games as a kid. Yes, i did get stuck (all the time) on the part where you have to drop down the hatch with the weird button combo. But I have insane nostalgia for that game. So yes, I dont hate it. Im probably the only person on earth to actually like it.
Heh, that "race driver" game is actually pretty good on other platforms. I had the PC version, which was known as '4D Sports Driving" or simply " Stunts", and it was a blast!
LMAO!!! When I bought my Super Nintendo back in the day brand new I bought A Link to the Past and......PitFighter! I remember the ads for pit fighter looking so cool! What a letdown that was.
Ballz 3d had one redeeming quality. It was an "adult" game on a Nintendo console. There was a lot of sexual innuendo including one fighters finishing move was to take the opponent over their knee and spank them. That fun wore off in about 10 minutes though.
Man, I remember putting in a LOT of time on the Sega Genesis version of Race Drivin' (which I used to think was exclusive, actually). The frame rate there was better, but still pretty bad. Yikes. I played nine of these games (I missed the Rocketeer, Bebe's Kids, T2, and... erm... that diabetes game). Personally, I would have put Ballz 3D and Batman Forever higher on the list. And yeah, I fell for the Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball "cool idea" trap as well.
Noticed the nods to AVGN here - definitely a good template to use for a bad games vid - loved the list, saw some joints I’ve never even heard of before
it's sad batman forever turned out so awkward to play when batman returns - the movie that came before it, is an instantly playable classic, fun, final fight rip off but in a good way. seriously, I love batman returns on the snes. I wish robin was in it for some 2 player action.
No wonder my mom used to bust into my room everytime I played Ballz 3D, she wanted to make sure I wasn't racking up that pay per view bill. It all makes sense now.

Yes, that was a nice homage. :)
Batman Forever is a shitload of fuck.
Throughout the whole video I was thinking "Pitfighter, Pitfighter, Pitfighter..."
The most non-functional game I have ever played.
Lmao @ that Ballz 3D soundtrack.
ArthriticZombie I'm convinced that they copied sound bytes from a porno to use lol
the first time i turned it on and left the room with the volume cranked i laughed till i almost puked from that sound clip.
Got the game from funcoland, and after hearing the music my friends mom made us take it back.
ArthriticZombie oy!
yeahhhh mhmmmm
Pit Fighter more commonly known as Shit Fighter. Dear god, i remember playing that game as a kid and just hating it. I had a feeling it would be number one, rightfully so lol
Makes you wonder what the hell Nintendo were smoking when they put their seal of quality badge on the box. What a joke.😂🤣
@@micktaylor9332because the game could run on the SNES without issue; the seal doesn't necessarily mean that the game is good
"Oh, bunnies. Don't worry everyone, it's just the level with the fucking mutant bunnies. You know, the one with the goddamn, purple, BUNNIES?"
Not going to lie, I actually really enjoyed combat basketball as a kid. Although once I got good at it I remember it was way too easy and I would run up a huge score on my opponent every time. Building your team was great, wish there was something like that now that worked on the mechanics but brought over some key concepts.
100. I had the same issue, it eventually became to easy. Getting over the jank controls makes a big difference on this one.
I had actually been researching which developer consistently developed the worst (or at least most widely disliked) SNES games, and I think I've found my answer. It's Imagineering Inc, developer of SNES games such as:
Casper
David Crane's Amazing Tennis
Family Dog
Home Alone
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
Home Improvement: Power Tool Pursuit!
Race Drivin'
The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends
The Ren & Stimpy Show: Buckeroo$!
Toys
They'd have a strong case, although they did make Turn and Burn No Fly Zone which is pretty good
Yeah, I'm not saying all of their games were bad, but they definitely seemed to have the biggest example of having more misses than hits when compared to other developers.
Pushing it with that Earthbound joke mister 😭
Terminator jumps like hank hill pretending to be a dolphin missing a tail fin
It figures, I'm in the minority. I honestly liked Batman Forever, and Shaq Fu. I think the main reason why, is because both of those games are 1000 times better than the only game that ever made me run like a mother back to those games, Batman and Robin on the PS1.
2:04 - "What the hell is that supposed to be?"
Music to go with the other thing Ballz are involved with.
Also, fun fact, this was made by P.F. Magic, the people who made the first PC virtual pet programs; Dogz and Catz.
Bill lambers combat b-ball is great
No idea why Ballz has such a bad reputation.
I feel
Sorry for you having to do that , but was very enjoyable from a spectators view . Your channel is the best gaming channel period . Your formula on everything is just spot on & genius . I'm like your biggest fan . I do art work , so if you happen to need any concept art on anything feel free msg thank you - Michael
LOL at first when you mentioned "Earthbound" I was like "WHAT?"
I played that Test Driving game on the arcade. I don't remember it having such bad framerate there; it was kinda fun.
Street Combat may be the most bland fighter ever made. At least the bad ones have some kind of personality.
The worst thing is that it was a Ranma 1/2 game that they blatantly changed
tcrf.net/Street_Combat
Street Combat looks like a game you'd pick up as a last-minute gift at a Rite-Aid by the front counter on the way to a Christmas party for the party-l host's kid.
To be fair “Street Combat” had a story mode, where you could only play as either of two versions of the blonde guy, and a traditional Vs. mode that allowed you to play as any of the characters.
Even in the story mode you can play as anyone, just press L and R at the same time.
I'm sad that Space Ace didn't nab the top spot. God that game was G.A.R.B.A.G.E
04:19 He's Tyrone, and he's gonna ... you know how that goes.
I made the mistake of asking for Bill Laimbeer's basketball for my birthday. Cause you know, why ask for a good one. Anyway man, great video as always.
The Terminator looks like Hank Hill LOL.
Found your content via Reddit. Great stuff.
Balls 3D: The Graphics 🤪 Controls:🧐😳 Gameplay:😢😭 Soundtrack:🤢🤮(reminds me of an 80s porno movie) Overall:🤬🤤
I actually love that game, still own it
awesome video, remember on SNES was this stupid Chester the cheeda game man that sucked and I beat the game in 30 mins lol
I'm going to try to think of 20 good games off the top of my head in no particular order.

👍 I did have to think a bit but you're right there is hundreds more !
Mario is missing???
Mario is missing is like the best educational game, though that's not saying much.
Seegtease educational there are mentally retarded, epilepsy, children over playing mario
Why oh why isn't Last Action Hero on this list?
Because somehow it was better than this crap
Hey SNES drunk, i absolutely love your content. Please, never stop this! ;-) By the way, i have idea for a video. How about the "best GBA ports of SNES games", because there are so many good ones?
*HONG KONG 97*
We used to love ballz 3d as a kid..back when our collection consisted of maybe 20 games between 4 kids in the neighborhood.
EEEEELEVEN!
Pit Fighter was the only one I played thankfully while growing up.
I actually think Earthbound is extremely overrated. Nowhere near the worst game nor even deserving to be part of a "worst of" list, but still way overrated.
I'm not condescending to you at all I'm just curious. Did you complete it? And do you like other turn based rpgs?
This is why I remember the snes days so fondly - I somehow avoided most if not all of the worst entries it had to offer. :D
3:08 🤣🤣 channel your inner AVGN hahaha
Hahaha I loved how it just went further and further down the drain. I'd love to see someone master Pit Fighter.
"You can name 20 great games off the SNES and still be forgetting 20 other great ones."
And the switch virtual console can't remember any of them.
Those pit fighter animations had me dying 😂😂😂
Rise of the Robots and Pit Fighter on the SNES make me feel sick even just thinking about the 20+ years later!
The Sega Pit Fighter was awesome.
The worst gave I've owned on SNES was probably Wayne's World and that game seems decent now compared to some of these
Man, I remember putting in a LOT of time on the Sega Genesis version of Race Drivin' (which I used to think was exclusive, actually).
I love your snes reviews so funny and down to earth, you honest expressions are so real that it's comical. keep it coming thanks!
Wolverine - Admantium Rage on SNES is horrible too.
Terminator 2 is really bad
Noticed the nods to AVGN here - definitely a good template to use for a bad games vid - loved the list, saw some joints I’ve never even heard of before
The part in pit fighter where you press start and the guys foot flies at the screen is hilarious though.
bill laimbeer's combat basketball was the only game my cousin had until he go NBA JAM 2 years later.
My older brother and I would play Race Driven for laughs. Good times.
it's sad batman forever turned out so awkward to play when batman returns - the movie that came before it, is an instantly playable classic, fun, final fight rip off but in a good way. seriously, I love batman returns on the snes. I wish robin was in it for some 2 player action.
