Welcome back to Glamourween! This story is one that I want you guys to take to heart. Growing into adulthood comes with so much freedom and learning how to avoid being placed in sketchy situations is a skill that has to be gained early on. This was my mistake...please don't make the same one. Stay safe out there and always have a plan and then a back up plan. Never trust strangers. Find friends that you can trust. Back when I was an out-of-state student I would take a coach bus and take the train to get home for holiday vacations. At the time I didn't have my own car and I didn't always have friends/acquaintances available to give me a lift. So, several times I was traveling and waiting by myself. Going home was exciting but so nerve-wracking b/c I didn't know the area that well, I was small and looked young as hell, and a lot of times I was traveling at night b/c the bus I needed would not arrive until much later after classes were finally done. Thankfully, my mom and I were so close (still are) where I updated her on everything that was happening. "Hey, taxi is here." "I am in the car." "Yeah, I'm here at the bus station. Have to wait til..." "Yeah, I'm good." "Bus is here." "Two more stops." "At the train station." "5 more stops." It may seem annoying to someone else, but my mom loved me and she did not play about safety. This was all to ensure that she knew I was okay throughout the journey and to know where I was last God forbid something happened.
You wanna be sure you have cash and/or card on you, be sure to carry a self-defense weapon, beware of your surroundings (get a good look at your driver and the car and the area you are driving in), and have a phone with decent battery life on you. Always be alert.
Before I had the car that I have now,I can honestly say the same. My parents (still are unfortunately) we are not close at all. Like at all. BUT the little Mexican girl in the back of my head always said(says?) “let your parents know JUST in case. Dosnt matter where or how or this or that. Let them know” my parents were able to trust in me and have respect because that “just in case “ ever happened. Now as a grow adult living in another city depending on what I am doing I always let my mama know,I always update her and I don’t even live with her. And every other time when I see them they thank me for respecting them and thanking me for being able to update them.

I read somewhere a quote that said "I've been saved so many times by my mother's prayers," and I believe that this is true for this story!
I really feel this now that I have a child !! That prayer will surely stretch because your faith gets stronger.

There’s also that one time a guy (that had a crush on her) chased her to her car after an event. That was the scariest for me.
This was very scary for sure. I’m pretty sure there was also one about a man following her from the club/bar as she was walking back home

This makes sense nikki . Heather being in that toxic relationship was probably one of the main reasons that drove her to do what she did with your ex. That's sad. I hate girls that prioritize guys over homegirls, boy crazy that should've been the first red flag that Heather was not a good friend didn't care about your well being. Only cared about the dude she was trying to spend the night with

I am so sorry that happened. My older sister who grew up to be a marine ( she passed a decade ago) Always always!! made sure that I was smart and aware as a young girl turning into a woman. And to this day I am so thankful for all that she has taught me!! That shit is so real and so scary. Again I am so sorry that happened to you.

That’s why I stopped going out can’t rely on these “friends”! Being put in a bad situation sleeping over at a party or going home alone in the middle of the night in a cab - not a fun choice I’ll pass.
This is scarier than any other typical halloween story. 😶 I'm glad you got out unharmed. I would love to hear your mom's story too because that is insane!!! And for her to be here without harm is a true blessing. (But of course, if she's okay with you doing that!) Great video and a huge learning lesson! 😊
my eyes are watering,, I am so glad you and mama glamour are safe. As women, we really have to be super vigilant about our surroundings. As a mother of 2 beautiful girls, I will be drilling safety into them from a very young age.
Thinking back on my younger self and as a mother now, bless my mom's heart for putting up with my shenanigans. She doesn't know this but back when I was 18 this guy took my to a bar and we got drunk, he got upset with me for dancing with his friend who was a girl and started acting weird and I didn't want to feel uncomfortable so my drunk brain thought it was a good idea to walk home. That was easily an hour walk home. I guess the wind hit me hard because I only remember bits and pieces of my walk but I remember being about 15 minutes away from my house and a truck stopping and some guys calling my name and asking if I needed a ride. I got in the car and had to sit on someone's lap and luckily they did take me home and no harm was done. To this day, 9 years later I still don't remember who those guys were. I'm so lucky because girls have been murdered for far less than that and being way more careful than I was. I put myself in so much danger from the very beginning because a guy who wants to take an 18 year old to a bar definitely does not have her best interest in mind. There were other situations that could have gotten me seriously hurt, girls please be careful life is so fragil I get it sometimes we get lonely or have FOMO but a boring night at home is a lot better than a night out that you might not come back from.❤
This comment gave me the chills. Know why? Cause this is more common than we think. I’ve made bad, cloudy, drunken decisions before. Didn’t even remember how I got home…every time I just chalked it up to a good time and nothing bad could happen. I really believed the world was good for the most part. It took moments like this where I was scared for me to realize that it’s not a game. I was lucky many times to make it home alive and safe. Partying and going out is a part of life and growing up but doing it in a safe way is the ultimate goal. I seriously pray for all of you everyday. Idk how I’m gonna breathe as my kids get older and go out on their own. I guess ima have to wear disguises and go out with them lmao
That is just terrifying of what you went through with that taxi driver Nikki and hearing about your mother going through a similar situation as you is just as scary.
Yea something similar has happened to me a few times , its teaches awareness immediately and always follow your intuition .

This situation makes me so mad because it’s like you said you didn’t have anyone to rely on or felt like it but these moments really teach you to not make these dumb decisions!!!
Something similar happened to me when I was 15 I'm 33 now.I can still remember his face,his voice what he said and how he said it idk what stopped him for SA'ing me but I thank God every single day I was not hurt that night.
Being in a car w strangers is very terrifying. I still get nervous. I bought myself a flashlight taser for this reason. U just never know what will happen in any moment

I will never forget being in a long distance relationship my ex who was from AZ and I had NEVER met him in person or even went to AZ before. I accepted a ride from a complete stranger from the airport she was a lady and luckily she did take me to my destination but alot of things could of gone wrong and I am so lucky I was safe because alot of girls have gone missing around the area I was in.

Definitely listen to Nikki! A few years ago I was going out and getting drunk with people who didn’t care how I got home. There are nights I have no clue how I did. I got lost, went with strangers my friend knew. Know how you’re getting home always! If you go out with friends, take turns on who gets drunk (or drunker) someone needs to be coherent enough to get you home. If you take Uber check the plates, the driver, make sure child lock isn’t on. I don’t know how I made it home sometimes and I got lucky I always did. I’m in tears thinking about it. Y’all be careful especially with the holidays coming up 💜
This gave me flashbacks to my friends older brother locking me in the car with him in a dark ally. We were suppose to have been looking for her bc she ran out the house.
(I was only in middle school & he was in highschool.)
Thankfully, his mom called saying my friend was back home & for us to go back. If she hadnt called. Im scared of what would have happened.

I want all of y’all to know, your parents/guardians would rather you be safe than dead, if you can’t find a way home, call them. They’ll be happier you’re safe rather than mad your calling.

I've heard so many scary stories of ubers and taxis. I've never been in 1. Only public transportation I've ever taken are the TTC and the Brampton Zum bus. Beyond that, I've always made sure to have my car ready and available.
Man I’ve had horrible experiences on TTC and Brampton Transit, people following me off the bus. Things like this are so horrible. People are so sick and dangerous. 😢

This is a safety tip I read for parents, and I hope this helps somebody one day. Talk to your kids about having a code word that they can text u when they are in dangerous or uncomfortable situations. For example ur teen is at a party and they are being pressured to drink or use drugs. They don't want to, but also don't want to seem like a party pooper. Your teen should then text u the code word and you call their phone immediately and say there's a family emergency and you need to come pick them up immediately. This will allow them to get out of the situation without ruining their image or feeling embarrassed.

My Ma always made sure to tell my siblings and I to always be aware of our surroundings. She also told us that if we are in a situation we don't want to be in, call her or my dad and they will get to us as soon as possible.

Girl, I just sold my car recently because I had to pay my faculty fees. I'm not going out past 11pm anymore. My grandma had a bad experience with a taxi driver when she was 20-something. She did have money to pay for the ride, but this guy was determined to get something else and he started touching her and that was one of the most traumatic experiences of her life. Thankfully she was able to defend herself and the taxi driver pushed her out of the car in the middle of the road, but she ended up being just fine. Not everyone is as lucky as you and her were so I prefer going home early now that I have to walk again.

Every girl has a similar story to this and its so sad when you realize it happens and ends badly for so many young women who had to be afraid in their last breaths. @@tykesejenkins8553 honestly I hope you never have to,but for example I swore I'd never use Uber well my car all of sudden just didn't start boom had to take one,I e been through so many scary things with public transportation starting with almost being SA'd at 15 by a cab driver.Unfourtnately we never know when the choice may come up when cab Uber or bus etc is your only choice if you're ever in this situation tho in this day and age unlike mine (I'm 33) please let ppl know which mode of transportation your in, description of driver and vehicle turn on location all that but again I pray you never have to
