I'm a first year medical student and have been following for the last four years or so. I just rewatched your study videos that I watched four years ago, and it's great to see how your hard work is paying off. You're definitely a great mentor to learn from! Thank you so much!

Hi Andrea, you have been such an inspiration to me! Even though I do not plan on attending medical school, your motivation and positive attitude have helped me immensely. I followed your study tips and tricks in my last year of university-- I used a whiteboard, the "hotdog sheets," and followed your active reading tips. I earned a 4.0 GPA and ended up on the Dean's list (the top 10% of marks for the year) in my university. Please keep making videos and posting on insta! You inspire people from all over the globe!
Warm regards from Eastern Canada :)

I love that you’re wanting to specialise in orbital surgery. Last January I had a non-invasive CXPA removed from my lacrimal gland so can honestly say I owe my life and my right eye to my fantastic oculoplastic surgeon! As a patient it’s interesting to see what life’s like on the other side of the slit lamp; it makes me realise even more how awesome doctors like you, my doctor and all the others he consulted on my case are!

I never considered ophtalmology as a choice, but now that I'm taking the class, looks great. Interesting pathology, grateful people, great lifestyle. Really envy you!!!

Bubby's Highline is an adorable little restaurant/diner at the end of the highline and they serve the BEST blueberry pancakes. You should definitely give them a try when you're feeling like a cheat day is in order:) My friends and I loved going to Le Pain Quotidien for lunch when we lived in NYC. They have substantially healthier options than Bubby's, but equally delicious. When we didn't feel like cooking or going out, we used to order food through grubhub. In those cases we almost always ordered from Just Salad. Their Buffalo Chicken Wrap is my personal fav (add som avocado and it's a hard meal to beat). Hope you are enjoying the city. I know I did. Much love, J.

Hi Andrea, I'm a long time watcher of your videos. I appreciate you so much for giving us such valuable information regarding medicine and specifically ophthalmology! Thank you!! Would you say that during fellowship you are working about the same amount of hours as during residency? Congratulations on earning such a competitive and amazing position!

Try classpass, it allows you to take different types of classes and in general is cheaper than paying for workout classes one at a time. It also allows you to explore different types of workouts in different studios.

Hey Andrea, I know you are busy but I was wondering, can you fix my glass eye? I took it out to clean it and it fell and shattered on the floor. It is definitely in less than 20 or so pieces. I have health insurance. Thank you.

Did you grow up in a larger city? For me I’d be worried to live in a place like NYC. I’m currently studying WHNP. My husband and I plan to move. I want to live somewhere I can get the most out of my practice with lots of different patient populations. I was thinking a larger city like Seattle would be good but it also makes me a bit nervous. I’d love to know your thoughts.

Hey Andrea is it possible for an img to get an ophthalmology residency in the US?? Im a medical student from India and i want to pursue ophthalmology in the US but from what i know it is very difficult. I will be super grateful if you could give me some insight about the system and what can i do to make it possible. Looking forward to your reply.

First of all I am happy for you. I have questions though. You had chosen ophthalmology to fight blindness etc but instead of choosing doing katarakt fellowship you have choosen the oculoplastic surgery. So did your goal changed along the way a little bit?

    • @AndreaTooleyMD
      @AndreaTooleyMD  4 роки тому

Great question! I did not enjoy intraocular surgery as much as I thought I would but I absolutely love orbital surgery and reconstructive surgery. I am still fighting blindness when I remove tumors from the orbit that are compressing the optic nerve, when I relieve the orbital pressure from thyroid eye disease, when I rebuild and reconstruct eyelids to protect the cornea, and even when I do simple things like lift droopy eyelids or brows :-) It's a super diverse and challenging field which is why I love it!

I'm loosing my eyesight in leaps and bounds. My vision is very blurry, and double vision...but if I press on different sides of my eyes I can focus better. Do you recommend any good doctor that can treat me? PLEASE, I AM REALLY WORRIED.

Excuse me doctor, Thanks for your sharing can you speak slower? And some graph to explain what you said? It will be easier to catch up
I am not from US, and need an advice from you if you have a spare time
I got a born mole lesion in my lower eyelid, a Maxi and Oral surgeon can remove it but I will lost some hair around it and the wound post op may not be nice, he will use some equip to burn the mole though and half sleep to operate
Do you think I should get another opinion from Opth surgeon like you
    Thanks Dr Tooley

Ophthalmology residency requires surgery but some fellowships leave it behind.
