Thanks a lot for sharing this invaluable interview with an Ophthalmologist. . I really love Ophthalmology more than anything else in Medicine. It's always been my dream specialty. . I am a first year Ophthalmology Resident at Makerere University, in Uganda, East Africa. .
Dr. Iddi Ndyabawe No problem, thank you for watching, Dr. Ndyabawe! It’s great that you’re very passionate about your field, which is the type of doctor we need more of. Wow, a doctor from all the way across the globe. Maybe I’ll get to interview you in the future!
Am at the senior level in Ophthalmology Residency training and in the exact spot of making decision for a subspecialty. This video came in handy vis-a-vis the choice of paediatric Ophthalmology subspecialty. I shall give it a deep thought. Thanks very much!
I've always had eye problems from having cataracts as a baby, nystagmus, microphthalmia, aphakia, and Glaucoma. With Glaucoma, I must take eye drops everyday!
I think Ophthalmology is very interesting. I have watched some of Andrea Tooley's videos. Thanks for another good interview. Also, did you grab any of those Hershey's before you left? Thanks Dr. Ad.
Joel E She’s one of the OG med youtubers! Maybe one day you’ll see her in one of my interviews ;). Nope, I’ve been on a diet haha. Thanks for watching Dr. J!
@@DrAdnan yes it does. And I sure hope that on Halloween, you keep the trick or treating to a minimum. I dont want your diet to get messed up with that candy corn. 😂
Thanks, could you possibly interview a vascular surgeon? I’m interested particularly in what will fate of the specialty gonna be? Will most of it be replaced by interventional radiology?
Way back in my first bio class (8th-grade year) I did a project on genetic diseases. Specifically a specific 'strain/type' of Glaucoma. I thought I wanted to be a geneticist (work in a lab, etc), and maybe I still do. Although, after watching this I am having second guesses on what I should go into. ha
Very informative video. I have a job interview next week for a vacancy called'' Ophthalmic Science Practitioner'' and I want to know whether is the job role of ''Ophthalmic Science Practitioner'' same as Ophthalmologist? Thanks
Thank you! No, an ophthalmologist is a specialized physician that requires going through medical school and a specialty program while an ophthalmic science practitioner is more of a scientist with shorter/fewer training requirements
I am looking for some help. I have one watery eye. Has been going on for 13 months. Have been prescribed steroid drops by a optometrist and 2 rounds of antibiotics by an ophthalmologist. It keeps coming back. I would like any suggestions as to what is causing it.
I’d recommend seeing an ophthalmologist again (if you’re not satisfied with the current one, perhaps another one) since that’s their specialty. I’m not qualified enough to answer, and don’t have the in-person exam info to even have a decent guess compared to them.

You could even get an MD/PhD and do both :)
Why might someone see a red line down the middle of a crescent moon? My retinal nerves are normal but slightly larger than the norm.
You spelt Ophthalmology incorrectly in the beginning.
Mariah LeRosen Good catch
Maybe I’ll become an ophthalmologist now
It’s a great career- you got this!
and maybe i could be of help with the preparations for the Oph primaries exams if you are from Nigeria if still interested.

Do radiation oncology
I’ve been working on it, but it’s been difficult to schedule one. I’ll keep trying
