Your video really helped me! I just purchased a used car from a dealer last week that has this stereo, but there was no sound. I bought the car for a super low price before it was through their shop or detailed, so I don't blame the dealer. I knew what I was getting before I paid. Anyway, after I got home I started some troubleshooting. When I lifted the rear hatch and pulled the cargo cover off I found a mess of wires from an amp and speakers that had been removed. You guessed it, they didn't hook up the original speakers! I cleaned up the mess and after tearing the dash apart it was as I had expected. The Pioneer website gave very little help and just said that the stereo needed professional installation. By watching your unboxing video and your installation video I was able to glean the information that I needed to take out the excess and connect the wires correctly. The stereo now works perfectly and is pretty amazing. Thank you so much for some great videos!
Thank you!!! The backup camera was a huge issue and EVERYONE IS LYING!!! YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY CONNECT IT AND STEP DOWN THE POWER LIKE THIS MAN IS DOING!! I'm sure professional installers know this but you buy everything online and start working and you get screwed.

I have the AVH-4500NEX in the daily (Buick Century). Since it's basically impossible to get a quality HU right now, i think i'm going to pull it and put it into the STI. Called a local shop that's the best in the area, charging $150/hr labor. Quoted 6-8 hours to rewire everything and install the amp like you did under the passenger seat. insane!!

great vid, I am sticking with the OEM head unit and going with the Audio Control LCQ-1 and a RF P1000 5 channel amp to run the Kicker doors speakers and a Sub, and see how that goes
Don't forget you can always install a capacitor to your power so when you go from ACC to turning the car over it doesn't reset. It's also cool your radio will play until you get out of the car and shut the door.

Actually the Fujitsu site and the so many many others i have visited are of little help. From what I’ve seen it’s amazing you found what you did. That said; i am seriously planning on starting a utube on converting my Outback into a camper. One of them will be Navigation and getting rid of the useless radio. I was really hoping you'd go with aftermarket tweeters. The ones in my WRX sound so bad I'm tempted to just unplug them. I have 2 Kicker coaxials and 2 Sony Xplods, then a 1000W Kenwood amp and 10" Rockford Fosgate Punch sub in a ported box. I'd love to buy a fancy head unit and I've already got one in mind (JVC KW-V940BW).
Nice video. I almost have my pioneer HU fully connected to my ‘18 WRX. I just can’t get the steering wheel controls to work. The maestro blinks green a certain amount of times depending on the steering wheel button I press but none of the buttons perform any functions.
Are you able to just pop off the faceplate on the aftermarket dash kit if you want to access the head unit later? Or do you need to disassemble a bunch?
Did you use the ground wire that was plugged into the back of the oem head unit? Totally spaced it after I got my new head unit in not sure what it was for? It’s just a solo ground wire. Thanks!
If you purchase the Maestro RR and the Maestro SU2 harness, everything will be practically plug in play. No splicing into factory wires or anything like that. Works perfectly for my '18 WRX with backup cam intact. Crutchfield set me up with the Maestro SW like the guy uses in this video and look at all the extra BS you go through.

hi i figured out the antenna power for this car, this car indeed need power for the antenna, u just need to connect the Metra 70-1761 blue wire to the power ant on the new hu.......
Forsure the best install video for these cars. My 18 sti has the same stock stereo and telematics unit. Now I will be running a 4ch amp for each speaker along with a avh2300nex. Do I have to tap into the telematics harness for the tweeters to work since the amp will only provide power to the 4 door speakers?

Aren't these connections already grounded via the OEM harnesses? Or did you do it for extra ground? And where did you manage to find the best ground for those 2 grounds? Thanks

I am going to be upgrading my stock head unit in my 2017 sti base model do you think it is worth it to buy the kicker upgrade (tweeters and woofer only no subwoofer) or would it be better to go with another aftermarket tweeter and woofer? I do not mind doing the wiring. Or what do you recommend? Also should I get an amplifier as well if I do go with after market tweeters and door speakers (not the kicker upgrade). And for your set up do you only have the amplifier just for your subwoofer or do you have one amplifier for your subwoofer and all the other speakers in your wrx?
For the USB, since you have a double USB in the center console, it's considered a hub, that is why that adapter won't work. You can use that adapter if you get a single USB for the center console
Just got this installed but didn't know about the micro bypass. If I open it all back up to install the bypass, will I be able to hook up a snes classic like you did via the HDMI input? Or what else would I need?

What I'd like to do is use the USB/sd card reader of the screen itself to get the hd image, but run the audio to the pioneer to hardwire the audio to my sound system so I can control it there and use the dual system. Is your stock head unit the Harmon Kardon with Nav? The one on the 2017 wrx and sti is set up differently from what I’ve read on the forums. I believe I would have to install and aftermarket amp for the speakers to work. Thanks

Does the radio turns on automatically once you turn the ignition keys? I suppose yes, according to the video. But is there anything special you need to do, in order to achieve that? Heard that that pioneers are hard to install in order to automatically start and turn off.
At the time 16"44, what is the grey/white wire from the oem camera plug does? I just replaced my Subaru head unit but the reverse camera can't be detected when I'm not in reverse gear, so I can't make adjustment of reverse guideline.
Where did you find the wiring diagram? My head unit is a little different and doesn’t have the plug you have for the camera. Also any idea what the blue optical plug is?

I am going to try jumping the the speakers ‘in and out’ wires right at the telematic plug. This way the plug can be tucked away and not attached to the other wiring.
So I have a 15' wrx, I got the 8200NEX as I didn't like the extremely basic radio unit. I thought I was all set, I had already bought the Metra 70-7552 harness and Axxess ASWC-1 both from Sonic electronix. After I took out the radio out, I ran into trouble. Apparently I have that audio plug, I didn't know. I'm not sure what to do with the 7 extra wires on the steering control and 3 extra on the harness. If you can help?
Boost & Shutter Boost & Shutter the speaker connection (I think) it was next to the connection for the steering wheel controls when I unplugged it from the old radio. The pioneer power cable has 4 wires I didn't know where to put, reverse gear signal input, car speed signal input, parking brake, and a orange w/ white stripe wire. The Axxess has 8 extra in various different colors not matching the poineer power plug.
Didn't see that earlier lol. oh well. How do I program the Axxess? I plugged in the 3.5 mm jack into W/R input. I have the red wire from the Axxess connecting to the other red wires of the pioneer/harness and did the same thing for the black wire. I ran black/green wire from the Axxess to the harness (pin 13) and a green/orangish wire from the Axxess to the harness (pin 4).

For some reason after connecting the wires I’m not getting any power. Check fuses both inside and outside and they are good.

You might need a step down converter 12 to 6v, i found on Amazon $20
