As a business owner. Marks answer is spot on here. Essentially since you don't know the details of the inner workings of the business you have fuck all to say.
Dangerously prideful attitude, it's practical but naive, every person knows something important if you ask the right questions.... example, i'm an expert at moral matters, as a business owner you might disregard me entirely, my life isn't focused into finance quite unintentionally I don't really require it so far, however... if you didn't disregard me, I have insight into the spirit that could teach you to keep your employee moral as high as possible, every day, increasing industrial output, health and reliability, in the long and short term. It was great to be informed by Mark's grace in his response to the questions which diametrically shifted my biases against him. I must be more careful in the future to NOT judge people by adopting my perceived consensus view.
"Love is not the answer" is the answer someone who doesn't have crushing responsibilities would give. That all goes out the window when you are faced with three equally horrible solutions and you have to pick one. For things to evolve peacefully and gradually, morality, freedom, and the diffusion of power are the answer. Right now we are in the process of losing all three, but sometimes you need to fight to get those back.
You can tell how calculated Mark is. He doesn't want to disclose anything that might be too informative or helpful so he thinks about the most general and basic thing he can and elaborates on that instead of giving away any secrets or ideas anyone could use to gain a competitive advantage.
So he made Twitter a lot leaner…… (firing people, making it more smaller to administer between him and the coders, engineers, etc) tried to make things more productive. Thats it, thats the response.
Bernard Baruch said, "the paperboy could come in and talk to Mr Morgan", so JP Morgan had an open door policy in his office. So yes, fewer layers of management between the CEO and the people who actually implement policy is a good thing...and in lieu of that lean management team an open door policy, as opposed to a rigid, heigherarchical chain of "command" might go a long way towards short circuiting the Dilbertine, DMV, military "style" of "management" that only amplifies the Peter Principal and eventually leads to collapse of either finances or morals and ethics.
With all due respect Lex, I've grown weary of an unwillingness to criticize Elon. It's not against the idea of love to refuse to accept his obvious missteps in handling the platform.
