  • This is the most well-known of the three trails that make up what is called “The Gulch Trails” in the area known as Wildcat Canyon near Divide, Colorado. Not only is it an obstacle-heavy trail, but Hackett also boasts some impressive scenery along the way. When the Hayman Fire of 2002 tore through this area, it wiped away much of the tree cover, opening the landscape to a unique view of the Colorado Mountains.

You may be the first to have stopped at the county line.

Yeah, we are not happy about the trail closures but we do try to follow the rules.

should probably point out where the county line actually is. Its location is EXTREMELY subtle and frequently overlooked or ignored.

    I don't see how that's rated a 6? Just the one obstacle?

The 6 you are seeing is the MANDATORY obstacle you need to be able to clear to complete the entirety of the trail. Its not a range. If you feel like the rating is off, you can always leave a trail review with a difficulty accuracy, and the trail guide author will see it. We appreciate community feedback to help keep us honest.

I love this trail, though I cringe when I watch myself take that line climbing up the rock obstacle. I'm lucky I didn't pop a seam. lol
