"Jeep Renegade isn't a real Jeep"
    "Jeep Renegade is a trashcan"
"Jeep Renegade is Blah Blah Bla..."
The video speak from it's own folks! Don't underestimate this "trashcan" only because you had issues! I have a Renegade Trailhawk here in Italy and it's great! Not a single problem and she act like a goat! I very like it! And nobody can't complain my opinion and experience!

@@coloradomallcrawlers Can't wait to see more videos of the renegade. I own a 2015 limited on 29" tall (235/60/18) Arturo trailblade xt's and 1" wheel spacers. I wish we had terrain like this in south Jersey. But we don't, so stock height will do for now. It's not as capable as my old 94 zj on 31 mud tires 2 inch lift and front and rear lunch box lockers but still enjoy it and the better mpg.

@@coloradomallcrawlers can't wait. I actually found your channel because I was searching for Cherokee videos since I feel those are a level or 2 above the renegade in capability due mostly because of hp and that rear locker (imo). Bbbbuuuuutttt then I see these guys in their renegades and it reminds me of why I bought one (even if it isn't a trailhawk) and helps me "keep the faith" in my decision lol.

    • @coloradomallcrawlers
      @coloradomallcrawlers  4 роки тому +5

Toycoma I’m a huge fan of the renegade because of its size! We keep making trail rigs bigger and bigger and I feel like the engineers don’t realize we need to fit on the trails too. Honestly, I was thinking about adding a Bronco yet I’m not so sure now due to it’s wider than a JL width (if that’s correct). But back to the renegade, hoping Jeep gives it a proper transfer case and maybe a locker in the future 😈

One thing that you'll probably see in these videos is that independent suspension provides great traction because slips and bumps on one side don't affect the other side (near as much). That's one reason I think the Cherokee and renegades did better on the tree.

Modded roush to that so I’m biased...lol. Both good vehicles. My wife has a Renegade. We ran it through some deep water recently running with the lifted wranglers. It lost a fuse from sitting with the fan under water too long, but held it's own. The guide for the day kept stopping and telling us he couldn't believe the Rene was keeping up. They could really use locking diffs, but the engineers claim the diffs aren't strong enough. The Cherokee can be had with a rear locker, but the available gear ratios are different. No swap option. Sucks.

The 2.4 engine is certainly too weak for Jeepin’ when combined with street gearing and a low-stall torque converter. The 2.4 engined Jeeps without low-range get into ruts where all four wheels have traction, the throttle is floored, and no wheels will spin - it can’t deliver enough torque to the wheels to go. Very un-Jeeplike.
It is, on the other hand, very Subaru-like. The 2.5 CVT-equipped Subaru’s have the same problem, for which Subiphobes offer every excuse in the book, and are often seen in a rut while trailing, with the gas pedal floored and nary a wheel turning.
It even shames me to have to compare the off-road performance of a Jeep with that of a Subaru ...

Bigdawg that is a good observation here.. the difference really comes down to torque and not having a proper low range. The renegades "4low" technically locks them in 1st gear , but still the only have about 185 or some odd foot pounds of torque. The cherokee, whether it's the.3.2 liter pentastar v6 or the 2 liter turbo 4 like I have not only have a proper dual pto low range transfer case , but my Jeep has over 100 more foot lbs of torque. That really makes the difference in crawling situations like this. I didn't have any issues having enough power to walk up that. We talk constantly about how jeep needs to give the renegades more torque and how much more capable that would make them. Really good observation though, because the bigger engine and significantly more torque makes all the difference in the world

Let me start off by saying *old guy here**who had a CJ-7 kidney rattler back in the day. Second year production 1977 The original *Renegade* and later the 2nd year 1988 YJ *Original* Wrangler.
Go modern design Jeeps! The rolling brick snobs hate them but I love my 2015 Jeep *second year* reinvented Cherokee Trailhawks shark nose! It's the reason why I bought it brand spankin new. It looks like a Jeep that was designed in the 21st century!Yeah it's not solid axel but it is unibody like the original. Has a much tamer ride with it's independent suspension. It looks exactly like something Willy's Motors would have had on display at the 1964 Worlds Fair!
"The Jeep of the Future! 😏 Sleek, luxurious, and capable" It is like a childhood dream to own this vehicle. I wouldn't expect you youngsters to understand the significance of that😒
But it's just what an old fart who likes the woods needs😏
Not a rehash of the 1940 flat fender.
I wouldn't have a problem with the reinvented Renegade if it was available with the 3.2 liter that's in the Cherokee. Its compact kinda like the Willy's or CJ5 and acts totally capable *when modded* but just a bit underpowered.
**Then again wasn't the original Willy's 50-60 horses?** Anyway,
    2015 Cherokee T H
    3.2 V-6 with 2" lift on 245/ 70/17 Cooper discoverer AT4S gives me a respectable 11.7" of ground clearance.
2" is max safe height to avoid drive axel strain. And sticking with the 245 width in a 70 series, the 1" taller tire makes no need for pinch weld mod, plus the spare fits in the original spare tire well!👍 Currently sitting on stock shocks and springs.
Next upgrade Dobson or Fox 👍You'll all be old and grey one day...(if you aren't already 🙄)

Were they looking at the Renegade's transmission temp on those tough sections? The Renegade Zf9/PTU will probably blow up even faster than the KL's/TH do, working them that hard with no true 4wdLo. @@coloradomallcrawlers A new Bronco would be great to see in action! That'd be great for your channel, when you get the Bronco in action! I'll probably never get to Colorado, but I sure like to see these rigs in action on the trails there!

I just found this and love the videos. My main question is always “did you use lockers?” I always wonder how much my JLU Sport S can do since it’s stock (other than rockers and skids) and only has the LSD rear.

I wheeled an open diff wrangler for 10 years, it’s way more capable than many will give it credit for. Additionally, your traction control system can mimic a locker somewhat (it requires careful manipulation of the throttle to get it engaged). So to answer your question, I did use lockers in these videos unless I note that I did... I think I used them on Hackett Gulch (to avoid wrecking the terrain), Cliffhanger 2.0, and Kelly Flats (due to bad driving). In the future, I’ll do a better job of documenting what I’m using on the guides, but I rarely use lockers. With all this said, don’t wheel alone. I will and it’s hypocritical for me to say that, but I can usually figure a way to get my Jeep unstuck if it happens (airing down, lockers, stacking, traction boards). Anyway, thanks for watching!

Any tips and tricks on climbing in a 2021 jeep trail hawk !? I have the same one in the video and I’m going out soon for the 1st time in this jeep!

Have good rock rails and just know how to operate your vehicle. Sorry for the late reply, I’m just now seeing this.

I am honestly blown away by these little Jeeps, they get a lot of hate from 'real' Jeep fans (I mean narrow minded pricks with sticks up their butts) but they dont get the fact that Renegade is how Jeeps stays in the market, makes more sales and can continue to make the best 4x4s. I have nothing but respect for all Renegade owners for taking their Jeeps wheelin

Well said! Plus, the whole product line fuel mileage thing... buying credits from Tesla seems dumb. Thanks for watching!

Man, if you could sneak a locker into a renegade is would be hilarious fun

Trust me, many of the renegade wheelers want one… it’s just not currently possible. Thanks for watching!

I wonder how the new subaru wilderness would handle this?
