KL Cherokee in a Metberry Gulch Trail Guide (Colorado’s The Gulches)

  • This is my trail guide on Metberry Gulch labeled as a moderate to difficult trail. Generally known as the easiest of the Gulches, but is it? About two weeks ago, a Wrangler Unlimited flipped over here and required flight for life. The day we filmed this, a fellow Jeeper told us he wrecked his fenders on the V-notch obstacle that day. Will be encounter danger? Does anyone even read the description?
    I use my stock Jeep Rubicon for rating difficulty running it like it’s an open Jeep. Locker are reserved for I need them moments or to not wreck the trail. Still working on my video making skills but I hope this is helpful! The trail is covered from beginning till the end in order and might be helpful to watch Part 1 (Longwater Gulch) and Part 2 (Hackett Gulch) first. My full breakdown of the gulches including technical difficulties, pucker factors, scenery, and fun ratings is at the end. Also, please check out my slaughterhouse preview... filmed in the rain/snow with renegades and Cherokees.
    For trail planning, I use the Funtreks Books (amazon search: Funtreks books). I have the current editions of the Colorado books and Moab. I finish up my trail planning with trails offroad as they can sometimes have more detail as well as user submitted current conditions feedback. I’m testing GPS apps and currently don’t use one.

    As always, thanks for watching!! Your feedback helps me, so let me know if you can help me improve these. Share them with your nervous wheeling buddies so they can know that they can do the trail. Subscribe for more trails and off-road Colorado content.

      I agree and they’re in most of my to be edited videos! The one I’m working on now has both Zach (black KL) and Sean (grey KL) in it. 3 of the 4 vehicles get trail damage. Zach also added an XJ so we might do some old vs new videos. Thanks for watching!

    I just found your channel and I appreciate your approach. I had always been a Jeep guy(still am even though I no longer own one), but I recently bought a Chevy Colorado ZR2 and I'm wanting to do more of the type wheeling you and your friends are doing, especially since I'm in Denver and this is all in my backyard too. I'm going to sub after I type this out. Really impressed with the Cherokee as it just seems to figure out what it needs to do!

      Dewie’s Colorado Even myself who has never done a trail before, but hopefully in the future. I certainly get a pretty good idea of the trail because of the amount of detail and footage you include. So I could only imagine how useful these would be to someone who actively does trails and is looking for advice. In the middle of some exams atm but hoping to release a new video by the end of the week fingers crossed 🤞🏻My next big production might be nearer the end of May.

      Awesome! I’m really glad to hear that. My goal is eventually to produce detailed off-road trail guides weekly, but I’m a MTBer too (well right now was). My goal is to have the weekly off-road guides, and then produce a bonus weekly video on something related to off-road but slightly different. Maybe even some MTB (and rock climbing) as I can see our overland vids having some other element to them besides off-roading and camping. Thanks for watching!

    The Cherokee Trailhawk is more capable off road than both the yellow Jeep and the grey one we seen earlier

    • @coloradomallcrawlers
      @coloradomallcrawlers  3 роки тому

      I’m a big fan of the Cherokee Trailhawk’s off-road traction abilities, but the yellow Jeep is extremely capable. The driver (me) doesn’t use lockers hardly and I usually go for lines I’m not sure it’ll get over as I think that may create better videos. Still I appreciate your enthusiasm for Sean’s Jeep!

  • @dylantobin8912

    I'm so confused... if you have a Rubicon why not use the lockers equipped?

    • @coloradomallcrawlers
      @coloradomallcrawlers  2 роки тому

      So Lockers are only necessary when your traction control can’t compensate for the terrain. These are trail guides made for all, there is no need to lock for many of these obstacles and it gives a non-rubicon owner a better example of what to expect. Now, for something rarely talked about now days, but using lockers increases your risk of breakage. There are some people who start a trail and turn on lockers from the start… that makes me nervous and it’s unnecessary.

    so the grand cherokee and the cherokee have the same 4x4 system? whats the difference?

    • @coloradomallcrawlers
      @coloradomallcrawlers  3 роки тому

      I don’t believe they do. I know the Cherokee has a true mechanical rear locker while that’s not available in the grand Cherokee. However, I bet their traction control systems are similar and I’ve been very impressed with that in the KL.

Right now, The videos take a lot of time to do, but I wouldn’t be opposed to providing additional resources in the future. Thanks for continuing to watch!
