How to Single Crochet (Double Crochet in UK) - Crochet Lesson 2

  • Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
  • In lesson 2 I show you how to work the single crochet as it is known in US terminology. In UK terminology this is known as the double crochet, so check your pattern before starting. Try to work under one bit of yarn, under the left side of your V as this will become useful later one when working more complicated patterns.

Look around at secondhand shops and garage sales also! I have had luck in the past finding both sewing and crochet goodies there. I hope you’re off crocheting up a storm! Have you made any fun projects?

You are such a good teacher. I see my grandmother doing it. One day I asked her to teach me and she said it’s not my cup of tea. It was embarrassing and a challenge. So I started looking for tutorials online. I saw scores of videos until I saw yours and today I was finally able to do it. You have explained everything so clearly. Soon I’ll learn more from you and show it my grandma 👵. I know she will be surprised.

She tried to teach me when I was young but being a lefty, I just couldn't get comfortable with doing everything right handed. I've always wanted to crochet, for her memory and for myself. Being new to crocheting, (and well into my retirement years!), it takes me a bit longer these days to coordinate hands and brain! May I ask though that in future tutorials that you teach us using only the UK terminology? I feel I want to learn and remember the stitches as a UK user but every time the stitch is mentioned for the American user I totally forget what I'm doing! 🤪

You can indeed, however it will take a long time and give a more tougher finish, but the effects can look great! If you do want a bit of drape but no holes, then maybe up your hook size a little as that can help.
