Great video, concise and watchable! This past sumner I "discovered" a new bait the trout cannot resist. Giant mealworms. They are a beetle grub sold for reptile food.
I know this video is a year old and it's just about to be trout stocking time in Texas. My all time favorite is gold super dupers. I don't know why they work so well here but they do. I always catch a limit on a fresh stocked pond with them. The other one I see having a good catch rate is the mouse tails.
I am in PA and fishing season is coming. I haven’t fished for trout in about 10+ years. When I did; 99 percent of the time everything was caught on power bait. Worms, eggs, spinners never worked. I caught a 21 inch brown trout after most of the stocking dates passed. My dad caught a 20 1/2 inch rainbow in shallow water, with rock bottom. You could see everything.
I'm in PA, too. Spinners work great for me, but freshly stocked trout don't seem to go after them much. Wait a day or more after they stock for that. Also, wax worms are magic. Trout love them.
powerbait I have luck with it early season. Mouse tails work well in creeks, in lakes I only have luck if I put a small amount of power bait on them for some scent. The power worms I've caught bass and perch with them but rarely ever trout. Eggs everyone swears by them though I have never been able to catch trout on eggs. A catfish will usually grab the eggs first. Nuggets have only ever gotten me cats and carp.
Single hook with a spring on octopus hook it is power bait hook to use. I used the spring out of a pin works great and free with free dead pin to pull the spring out to use on the hook. It will be off the HOOK good 👊🏼 good show worm's and fly's work for every kid of fish is natural to them and mino's.
Yell at rappala they don’t make the orange #5 floating mino anymore --A-Duha!!but they make all the other colors still see if you can figure that one out!
I used the Garlic Pink Power eggs And The Powerbait Worms with some ProCure Super Gel And Was able to pull out 8 Trout today In About 2 Hours... What's That 1 Favorite Bait You Use for Trout?..
Thank you so much for a solid and to-the-point list! I actually enjoy making inline spinners and bottle cap lures myself. Yesterday a trout chased it all the way to the surface and just as I pulled my swimming bottle cap up, it took a swipe at it. I’m still annoyed... little butt!
@@WillyFish there’s challenge and then there’s exercise in frustration. 🤣 I make mine based on this Russian DIY video. (Which ironically he got the idea from watching Canadian news clips) Fold a bottle cap in half, punch 1 hole in them at each end, one needs to be large enough to let a barrel swivel loop through, 3 small weights go in the er... bottle cap taco. Close, Fill with hot glue, add a large split ring at the “tail end” for a treble hook. At the front end where the barel swivel is, at the bottom (folded side) split ring on a willow leaf spin spoon, top loop (hot glue side) is where you hook onto your line. Funny enough, when I made mine, they work backwards compared to the original video. Mine swim like little crayfish. Northern pike LOVE my little black caps. And for giggles you can carefully hot glue on some googly eyes. 👀 🤣
The spot I go fishing where I live that’s stocked, I can count on one hand the number of fish I’ve caught with Powerbait. I’ve caught the most fish with Mousetails, Power Eggs, and Trout Magnets. I do have a bunch of jigs, spinners, and Rapala’s, but haven’t been the most successful
Hey Albert, I hook them just like salmon egg with the hook sitting outside the egg and some split shot about 6 inches above the bait to keep it suspended under the bobber. Then I use a slip bobber to adjust the depth of the bait in the water. I hope that helps!
@@WillyFish Thanks! Recantly , I'm getting a very good luck with mice tails , wasn't catching anyting on them before , I've even catched catfish on a mice tail instead of trout🤣
Great video tons of information and I agree with everything. Except for maybe in different order for the top 2 lol. I just love to catch em on a spinnerbait.
Good video !! One question can you show how to rig up the trout nuggets I had grabbed me a bag in the past but never learned how to use them and tossed them out
I personally have never had much luck using PowerBait for trout, and corn is illegal to use as bait in my state. But I've caught plenty of stocked trout on nightcrawlers and crankbaits. I find that early in the season is best for trout, like April and May (our trout season is closed in March). After that, the water gets too warm and I start going after largemouth bass instead.

I have seen someone use those! I'll have to give them a try myself
My favorites baits for trout are jerkbaits and inline spinners 👍
It’s nice to finally have someone who I can relate to. I just cannot stand putting worms on a hook. 😂😂😂😂

What rod/reel combo of you use? I am currently looking into a budget fishing combo but am having trouble. Thank you for your time.
I am fishing with the Okuma SST 2-6lb rod 7 ft 6in or the Okuma light 6' 6" rod paired with the Okuma ROX30 reel.

Pa fisherman here also and powerbait and wax worms are killer in central pa waters.

Are marshmallows good for trout?
To catch them, absolutely!

I ate night crawlers one night at a party 20.00$ each ! Now I am in the worm business….LOL
i have never seen a video this helpful , keep up the great work
Thank you, I hope the info helps!
Rainboe and chartruse with out the the glitter dipped in shrimp smelly jelly
my all time fave bait for stocked trout is orange garlic power eggs
When I was a kid we used corn and raw bits of bacon. Just getting back into it
I used the Garlic Pink Power eggs And The Powerbait Worms with some ProCure Super Gel And Was able to pull out 8 Trout today In About 2 Hours... What's That 1 Favorite Bait You Use for Trout?..
I'm a Power Eggs favorite bait to get a bite all day!

Trying to catch trout with a bottle cap lure sounds like a fun challenge!!!

Right on Paul!
You would make a Bad Ass Beat Boxer. Mmmmm Drop.
Nice! How you hooking mice tails under bobber ?

Spinners almost always work.
60% of the time it works everytime xD

Right on Michael!
Good video !! One question can you show how to rig up the trout nuggets I had grabbed me a bag in the past but never learned how to use them and tossed them out
Hey Rudy, I will do that very soon. Stay tuned for that video!!!

Sometimes the basic nightcrawler is all you need Joshua
I think all powerbait is designed to smell and taste like hatchery food. Would ban the fish killing crap, if I could.😖
My Rapalas are undefeated powerbait they never bite lol
Rapalas are really good!
🐟🐠
Great video, great information and great techniques plus great tips as well.
Enjoyed it I did and have a great rest of the week too. Tight lines
Thanks Shawn, tight lines!

Cheers Brent! I hope the ice off happens soon for you!
I have never used the nuggets. I will have to try them now
Right on Vincent! Give them a try - I think they will do well for you!
Mini jigging for trout is foraure number 1 in my book
Chunky cheese pinched crawlers
let's go!!!
Great tips for lakes, ponds, and rivers, I fish smaller creeks and bobbers become less important as well as less space for crank and jerk baits
Great video! You really named them all.
Thanks Rhett! Tight lines my friend!
07:43 thats what she said
