I'm a multi species angler in Connecticut and by far my favourite fish to catch are trout and pickerel. For trout my go to lures and baits are trout worms, power bait, salmon eggs, and rooster tails. My go to lures for pickerel are any soft plastic, and a countdown trout colour rapala jerk bait. I've never caught trout on any hard lure like a jerk bait. Keep making the great videos!
For trout I use one of the cheap 5 for $6 spinner lures from WM and they kill it, for bass, my go to is a texas rig red worm w glitter and catfish, the trusty European nightcrawler, you guys are cool, not snobs and show offs like others... Keep up the great work, from el paso tx. , see ya
I love 5” Senkos Texas or Wacky rigged for bass. For Trout, Colorado Gold/Silver & Copper Spoons and Roxstar Rooster Tails (got mine on Amazon) have absolutely slayed them this year.
Bro, I’m retiring from the Army and moving to El Paso. I have been in and out of EP due to being in the service since 1998. I say that because I just got back into fishing in my older age. Currently I’m at Fort Knox and have literally hundreds of bodies of water to fish from. My question is where can we fish in EP besides Ascarate?
Yo I just moved near ABQ where do you go fishing at around here? I moved from the southeast where there’s no trout so I’m having to learn how to target them
Dude, I am grooving’ on these videos! I was never taught how to use a bunch of these things. Now I’m 65 and retired/disabled, with way too much time on my hands. Pistol Pete’s really produce here. I’m gonna try the worms or crickets.
For creek fishing my favorite bait is a red worm with a hook and a sinker. U could attach a small bobber or just cast up stream and let it bounce along the bottom. I almost always catch fish with that method
@@someoneyoudontknow7407 there is definitely skill involved. I honestly hope they dont because the more people fishing= less fishing opportunity. People are assholes and poach. Or keep without a license. Use live bait in restricted areas. Im waiting for the day that i get to beat a poachers ass lol. Hopefully in front of the kids.
Thank you my friend. I have been fishing strongly for 5 years now. I have spent over $1,000 on baits and rods /reels. I fish with both spinning reels and bait casters. Over the years i have had a difficult time trying to find the right lures and bait to use for trout . i carry so much stuf that i never use. Thanks for your ideas on lures. I can leave out atleast 3/4 of the lures that i have Great video. Thanks again.
Yeah the more we watch those UA-camrs the more we got hooked on buying them lures while they got paid for just showing 1 or 2 of their catches. 😂😂👀👀🎣🎣🎣
I mainly troll for trout in a 12” aluminum boat here in Western Washington. Red wedding ring, Pistol Pete in green (propeller fly in video), Luhr Jensen Needlefish in Fire tiger or perch. I’m always running at least one of those 3 and experimenting with another lure on the other rod. (2 pole endorsement)
Little secret for you try trolling the double whammy Mack’s wedding rings in pink/silver or the red or chartreuse in the original style tipped with a small piece of night crawler, absolutely SLAYS rainbows
When I do my trout fishing I use marshmallow, cheese, corn, garlic, FL. orange Berkley power bait or I use pink shrimp pautzke fireballs salmon eggs. Also amazing video
I love the old Bob and crawler, and the rooster tail, also super supers red with reflective silver stickers. Oh yea. I also bottom fish powerboat yellow corn allday

I caught a trout one time that had no less than a dozen little helgramites crawling in it's mouth! Im gonna say they LOVE helgramites, as do EVERY other species I can think of. I caught 7 species of fish in one little spot one day.
1) Spinners: Roostertails, Blue Fox, Joes Flies, Panther Martins, Kastmasters (I've caught trout everywhere with them, my go to) 2) Nightcrawlers: If I have em, I fish them (sometimes too much) 3) Salmon Eggs: I use an apricot color as this looks the most natural to actual brook, brown and rainbow eggs (Also works for stocked trout as it resembles a pellet) 4) Crankbaits: Use these more when I'm targeting walleye but I catch lots of trout with them (especially in a lake or deeper river while trolling) 5) Jigs: Again I'm targeting walleye here but I've caught a few big browns and Bows with them
My dad was a licensed hunter and fisherman❤. He took me out when I was a kid to fish several times. Other than being extremely motion sick I had a phenomenal time. I hooked the live worm and caught 1/2 bucket of fish. 🐟 🎣🐟🐠🍣
I have watched about 10 of your videos and subscribed too. Just getting into fishing as I really need an outdoor hobby and fishing is an incredible one. You guys have the best videos out there! Very informative, you are my favorite video teacher, and I'm learning a ton so thank you!
A number 3 Rapala brown trout or Rainbow trout pattern floating minnow . A Rebel crawfish or a Yozuri pin minnow catches lots of Brown trout and Rainbow trout.
In the pond where I live that I fish the most, I’ve got the most trout with Berkeley MiceTails, Berkeley Power Eggs, and Trout Magnets. It could have been because of presentation, but I caught maybe 5 on PowerBait; as such I got rid of all the Powerbaits I had. This summer, I’m going to try regular salmon eggs and a few other things. But I think I’m done using Powerbait.
I’ve never thought of adding flies 🤔 just thought they go on a fly rod! Have to try that! And the night crawlers have never failed me and that’s my go to if I’m not getting a bite on powerbait or spinners. Great video I’m learning so much! 👍
I use panther martins, or I been finding trout (brown especially) love the bigger silver blade rooster tail spinner, got a bunch of monster brown on them, I was amazed, never used them before. plus they spin so very nice, try them forgot to say-I use the gray ones think they have tiny black circles, black tail.
I’ve had great success on all 3 methods, I’ve used all those baits & like them all however I’ve never really had much success on spoons. I’ll have watch your spoons tutorial 😬
Just got back into fishing about a month ago... I've watched many hours of fishing youtube in that time and spent a decent amount of time with a line in the water. Still the only thing I've gotten had success with was a white and silver rooster-tail spinner. And even that has only been one trout hooked and one smallmouth landed. My live worms always get eaten down to only the part left on the shank. Still no luck with spoons, powerbait, trout magnets or any other soft plastic.
The TroutHammer approves 🤙. Too many people sleep on small crankbaits and jerkbaits for trout. I love using tiny Rapala jerkbaits for them. But... no Trout Magnet? 😅 I kid, I kid
If you don't know how to work a Trout Magnet than you must just be shit at Trout fishing. They're the most effective lure other than season appropriate fly fishing lures. Raps are great, but only in the fall or in lakes with active and abundant baitfish populations.
Been having some luck recently with a trout magnet, trying the last master too - nothing yet. Still trying to get the hang of working with lures and flies, but focused on catch/ release so trying to avoid baits likely to gut hook the fish.

Yeah you crammed my brain and I love it. What is the difference between a fluorocarbon bumper and a three foot leader. Im a bass angler expanding my horizons.
But...but....mini jigging? Hey I was wondering if the saying of "braid has better castability" is true with lighter braids and lighter tackle? Would be an interesting test. 2lb mono/whatever you use versus 4-6lb braid with a leader....both with a 1/16 -1/64 oz mini jig.
I fish micro jigs all the time and I prefer Powerpro braid with several feet of Fluoro leader. My castabilty was shit back when I used mono mainline with Fluoro leaders. It was almost as good as braid when I used straight Seaguar 4 lb STS Fluoro, but its potentially a waste of good line to spool straight Fluoro; as fraying, memory and line twist will all do their best to destroy your line.
A half ounce of weight is a bit much for a UL setup. If you are using something that heavy, it defeats the purpose of using a light action rod and reel, for sensitivity.
What's your favorite bait or lure for trout fishing?! 🤔
Addicted Fishing red power bait egg with a white and pink mouse tail combo Slays here in olympia
My favorite is prolly goose crack
Addicted Fishing 1.Brass and red Thomas Buoyant. 2. Trolling flies behind a dodger. 3. J7 Rapala.
Pink tube with a little peace of shrimp on it.
Wedding ring and worm, wooly bugger, hot shot and flatfish, Rapala. In that order.

Bluefox #3 in the trout color has been one of my faves for years
The 38 dislikes are people that cant catch fish 🤣
or the die hard, anti-bait bass fisherman
I hope that if that’s the case that they may catch some fish with these tips.

When fishing with kids it is hard to beat nightcrawlers.
Agreed
I use rubber eggs and marshmallows

Finally videos about real fishing I love Trout fishing
Spinners for sure depending on the lake or river I mostly like panther martans
Agree, up here in Montana the Panther Martins have been great on the Yellowstone River.
Good ol'gold with a bit of red panthers up here in north ga work great.
Nope spinners suck they dont work at all
People who hate spinner just don't know how to use them or they just like to throw a worm out and take naps.

With pop gear or some sort of flasher, oh man, best trout trolling bait EVER!
It really does feel like hunting fish when ya fish with a spinner. Love that stuff
Worm with a corky is a killer too. Sometimes marshmallow instead of corky
Can’t stop watching you’re trout videos
When I do my trout fishing I use marshmallow, cheese, corn, garlic, FL. orange Berkley power bait or I use pink shrimp pautzke fireballs salmon eggs. Also amazing video

I always like crappie rigs for trout when lake fishing.
Worm Krill combo. Small hook, fluorocarbon leader, big piece of worm, top the hook off with a krill. Was my money maker this year. Great video btw!
When to use fluoro vs mono for the leader?
No matter if I'm fishing in lakes or in streams, the Berkley mice tails by far work the best for me.
I also like to tear off the ball part from the tail and use the tail on a wedding ring lure and troll with that.

Two years later. I'm just getting into fishing and wandering how your experiences have been.
my fav is spinner but dragging a fly behind a bubble and worm/power bait combo is deadly
thanks! went out trout fishing after seeing this vid and caught my PB (using worms and a fishing needle to put the worm on my line)
