Here's some more trix:
I use Panther-Martin Spinners & small Lil' Cleo spoons.
A Hare's Ear Nymph or Stonefly Nymph or Bead-head Prince nymph under a float is deadly.
You can drop-shot a hook under a float, to get perfect depth-control with baits.
A single Salmon egg is a super-bait under a float.
A white Marabou wet fly & split-shot is a true finesse trick, with or without a float.
Dark day use dark lure, bright day use a bright/flashy lure.
Wacky-rig a gulp minnow on a drop-shot rig & hold on !
Crappie jigs & tubes are killers too. Swim & twitch 'em along.

Going to downsize my rod/reel combo (7'6" kast king) after seeing this video, everything you've said here tracks and is very concise. As soon as I tied 4lb flouro leader on 10lb braid my hookups have skyrocketed, as you said. Thanks!

I know a lot of people consider live bait cheating. But I have the most luck trout fishing with nightcrawlers on a small Aberdeen with a simple lead weight. Just half the worm and put the little pinch weight like 6 inches above your hook and cast.
Great Advice. Just ordered Cherrywood rod and Shimano Sienna 500 for $58. Have 4lb p-line floor from a previous purchase for a 7’ ultra lite with a Johnny Morris 1000 series. Plan to use both in ponds and streams/rivers in Central NY. This year going to try scented salmon eggs, spinners, rooster tails and trout magnets.

I honestly cannot remember I didn’t put the sticker on it. It was a panfish blank from mudhole MHX series the ultralight action

Nathan, where can I find a 1/32 jig head like the one in this video that has a #8 hook? Almost all manufacturers jump to a size 6 hook on a 1/32 jig head. You can find a jig with a #8 hook all day long on a 1/64 jig but good luck finding a # 8 hook on a 1/32 jig.
Fish USA makes the ones I bought
I used 4lbs line monofilament and lost to much lures got expensive so I got 6 lbs line monofilament and didn't see the difference in the amount of fish I landed. My son told me to switch line because I was going to get more fish and me and him go once a week for two months and I got more fish. 🤔 How is that I told him but no answer.
Going fishing on the 14th monday for my birthday and only got spinners/spoons they are silver and gold
