  • Hey Lads! Today we will be replacing both rear shock absorbers on my corsa d 1.2. The nearside shock was the original factory shock and have some bad corrosion on the strut.
Thank you so much for subscribing to my channel and i hope my videos continue to be useful.

Thanks Tom 😊 I also own a Corsa D. I've learned a lot from your videos. You explain things very cleary and makes it easy for me to understand what I need to do. Since my dad died I've been trying to educate myself on how to maintain my own car. I'm grateful for guys like yourself who make these tutorial videos. Keep up the great work. 👍👏

I changed the bump stop on my rear shock absorber today following your video. Thanks for the clear instructions.
Only problem I had was that I wasn't able to tighten the top mount using the swan neck. After the first couple of turns the swan neck 17mm socket would not go down on the nut properly. It was abstructed by the top mount plate. I ended up having to clamp the strut and use an impact gun to tighten. Clamping the strut is not a good idea as you could damage it but unfortunately I had not alternative. Just wanted to point this out in case someone has this trouble.

Just had to pay the garage nearly £700!!! For my Corsa D: MOT, new clutch, new CV Boot, gearbox was leaking so had to have a new seal put in the transmission, and to top it off!! Needed a new wheel bearing and hub assembly!! To be honest the MOT did pass and all the above apart from the wheel bearing was an advisory on the MOT but I would rather of got it all done than leave it to get worse.
but glad it’s all done before Christmas:)
all the above in my view are NOT for the amateur car DIY-ER.
you need specialist equipment and ALOT of skill to do the above
    Hydraulic Press for the bearing
    And I wouldn’t even attempt a clutch
I can do basic stuff but leave the others to the professionals.

    • @TomsDriveway
      @TomsDriveway  4 роки тому +1

Jesus that's a lot of money, yeah some of those jobs are a more specialist job. But nothing I couldn't tackle to be honest, it just makes the job alot easier with the correct equipment. Shame you had to shell out though before Christmas!

Nice video! I am waiting for your impression about this type. 2 years ago I put the KONI Street T type (orange color) on my Corsa D and I have mixed feelings. Everything is ok, but for the rear passengers they are too uncomfortable. Very hard suspension, far more hard than the original (and much more expensive).

Great videos Tom! I have a problem with my Corsa D (5 door): when going over bumps I hear the creaking sound (sounds like a rubber creaking) somewhere in the back left wheel or absorber. It is noticable during cold days. After I drive it for some time it almost goes out completely. I did not hear it in the warm days, in the summer. Mechanic replaced both shock absorber boots few months before this started to happen - I am not sure if that can be related to this problem? Do you have any idea what could be the problem? Tnx!

    • @TomsDriveway

So I know I'd the boots have failed they can make a clunk noise every so often. As I didnt replace mine and I sorted that problem out recently. However, I suggest tsking a look as it could be anything.

Or is any method to get windows down? I changed the ecu on my corsa and with the broken one the windows goes down, with this new one they won t.
    2. How i say i changed the ecu and i get a new one with the bc. So i go to get the information lever. I put everything but dosen t work. Again you know if i can program with op com?
