Hi Heiko Bought the 6C years ago and love it. Started out with plate #3 but now using plate #4. Very efficient yet smooth shave. Love my Twig as well. Alum block sanitize the skin, prevents bacterial growth as well as stopping minor weepers.
Hello Heiko..I've discovered that the efficiency of the shave with my Rockwell 6S has a lot to do with the actual blade I’m using.. ie setting the 3 plate works well with a less aggressive blade such as the Derby , but pop in a Feather blade and it will feel too harsh, so I'll drop down to the 2 or 1 plate for a more comfortable experience. I also decided to polish the top cap to a mirror polish using wet dry sand paper up to 2000 grit and then metal polish. The Stainless steel now looks as shiny as Chrome, and the interaction with the skin is noticeably smoother than the bead blast finish. There are some videos on UA-cam of others who have done this and like the results. Because you have the 6C you could just swap the cap to see if the results are to your liking. Great Shave! Cheers MikeR.
The alum of potash that is a "mineral salt" is quite safe and a completely "different aluminum" than the aluminum phosphates and aluminum chlorohydrates that are found in antiperspirant deodorants. Alum stones are a mineral salt in crystal form, made of a single ingredient: potassium alum. This is not the same chemical compound as the aluminum which is found in most conventional deodorants. Potassium alum has antimicrobial properties (which is a big part of why they work), and it has been used since antiquity.
The alum discussion is ongoing among the experts but just because something has been in use since antiquity doesn't necessarily mean it is safe to use. Cheers, Heiko
Again a great video Heiko. I have the Rockwell 6C in gunmetal finish. I am using plate 3 as well, it is my favorite plate after trying especially the more aggressive ones. Plate 3 is a good compromise between efficiency and smoothness. Especially against the grain plate 4 to 6 are too aggressive to me.
Another interpretation for your choice of Proraso Green shaving soap (or cream?) is that it is YOUR standard shaving soap for evaluating blades and razors. It is a good standard choice is partly because it is well known and likely to be available for many many more years.
Great shave testing with the Rockwell 6S👍 Actually the Rockwell 6c was the razor that helped me correct my DE shaving technique some years ago, I nearly gave up on DE shaving until I came across the 6C, now I can shave with many different razors. With the 6C I prefer plates 3 or 4/2, when I use plate 4/2 I have plate 4 for passes 1 and 2, then switch to plate 2 for the rest. For daily shaving I would use plate 3. I do use Alum block after my shaves but normally rinse it off within a minute after it's done it job. 🤟🤠🤟
Great shave and video. This is my everyday razor except mine is blue. I also have sensitive skin. I use the same Wilkinson Sword blades. I do a 3 pass shave, starting with the 4 plate and 2nd pass with the 3 plate and then finish with the 2 plate. I even go against the grain in the mustache area. Also after I lather up, I change plates while the lather soaks into the beard. Have a great night and weekend. 👍👍👍
Moin Heiko, sehr geiles Video! I love the 6S!
The way you tell of this 6S and 2C couple of razors, some people would want to expect that the 2C would be effectively Rockwell 2C-or6S with ONLY plate #3; since plate settings #1 and #2 were much too too mild. Money might be better spent on a different razor, un less the person wants the available levels of #3, 4, 5, and 6.
The 2C is effectively a 6S with only one plate. If the #3 plate is the only one needed to get a gentle smooth shave the 2C is all one needs. I just bought a 2C. I paid $19. An extra plate is $18.75. So you could have a 2c with a more aggressive plate for less than $40. A 6C that comes with all three plates is a $60 razor. I think the 2C is a good deal.
Defently on my list. To have the choice of a more aggressive or mild shave is a good one. Plus, alumn feels so bad on my skin too. Never liked it, prefer some cold water!
Hello, Heiko how are you, I have the 6C version of this razor but I like light weight razors so that is not in my rotation but I use it with plate 5 most of the times 🙏🙏🙏👍👍
Thank you man for this this is good you mentioned you have a merkur progress. if you had to compare this and the merkur slant bar what would you say I gave up my progess to a friend and I am getting a new one and considering this one
I don't have a Merkur slant only the RazoRock clone. If you want to try something other than the normal progress check out the Parker Variant Open Comb. It is a progress clone and it is an open comb. It is great.
@@Heiko-shaves thank you for ths uggestions how is it compared with Merkur slant and progress? R41? rockwell 6s or T2? if you had to compare :) will get a couple i guess considering 6s and this open comb parker variant
@@Heiko-shaves thank you for recommending the variant OC, Hiko. Got it this week and it is a smooth mild one. I really like it and can see it on someone's daily shavers. looking forward to try the Rockwell 6S and might get the razor rock slant. I hear a lot of good things about this slant
What's up friend, where can I get the specifications of the exposure sheet for each plate? 🤔 I found the Gaps, but not the blade exposition of each level
Unfortunately, my girlfriend is very sensitive to fragrances due to migraines, so I gave away most of my old shaving products because I don't want to give her a headache (literally). I'm left with the white Sensitive products (most of which are almost odourless) and thank goodness for the green Proraso (which for some reason doesn't trigger her sensitivity).
The Rockwell 6C is my go-to razor on plate 3 with personna blade for a perfect shave every time
I am going to have to do a comparison between the 6s plate 3 and a 6c plate 3 to see if the finish has a influence on the shave.

Like your idea of sanding down the top cap. I'll have to try that.

that’s a fantastic daily shaver. regards Mr Straight Razor

Thanks

#3 ist genau richtig. Der Rockwell 6S ist schon ziemlich gut allerdings ist die Chrome Variante ein bisschen besser (rutschigen auf der Haut).

That is a good question, I am not sure Rockwell actually published those numbers.
I have accepted the cautioning about aluminum compounds since before your telling us here. People should be made more aware.
With awareness I agree.
if compare with king C gillette, what plate number at rockwell 6S , thank you
That is a tough question. I would say right around the R3 plate.
When you first get the brush how long do you soak it in water ?
For each shave I soak it in hot water for the time it takes to set up everything else. So only a couple of minutes.
Ur living ur life ..enjoy Ll razors when u can 😂

Hi what brush is that?and if u want to compare twig with Rockwell, what plate of Rockwell would be the blade feel?
I think the twig is somewhere between a 2 and 3 plate. close enough to the 3 plate, i think.
Rockwell blades are terrible and destroy my skin. My go to is NACETS for my 6C.
