Rockwell 6S, it's a razor for a life, for each occasion, for anyone, who likes efficient with 6, or milder 3 or 2, or combined. Exactly a Flippable razor!! 🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭
Geo, Great shave and video. I have this exact razor and I use plate 3 everyday occasionally using plate 4 with a Wilkinson Gillette blade. This razor shaves so well, I put the rest of my razors away. And by the way Shavenation has great service and very fast shipping. Have a great Labor Day weekend.
@@geofatboy Absolutely! I sold my Wolfman because it was too blade forward - my skin just doesn’t like positive exposure! Edwin Jagger 3One6 for me is also bitey and harsh. I have to go back of neck to front in order to get BBS and so many razors just don’t work! Charcoal Goods - no dice, Rex Envoy and Ambassador - nope - even my beloved timeless 68 and 95 aren’t comfortable across the grain in my neck. I test my razors with the following blades: Personna Blue USA, Nacet, TREET and Wizamet and the Rockwell 6S for my skin, in plate 3 always provides a BBS shave with zero irritation - granted I do have to work for it with several passes. The razors that work for me in order are : 6S Plate 3, PAA Meta-4, Above the Tie Windsor Pro Aluminum and Stainless, as well as the US made Windsor R, Fat Boy, Karve A and B plate. I am a pretty experienced shaver but the skin on my neck reacts very easily to blade exposure - I can shave with the Muhle R41, I just can’t do an across the grain neck pass and no matter how efficient, if I can’t cross the grain, I won’t get BBS - with any technique like 30 degrees, light touch, riding the cap… the executive shaving outlaw mild is borderline on my neck so I include it in my list of favorites - the journey is a bit different for everyone I guess lol!
Great shave Geo🪒💈 I've been enjoying the Rockwell 6S/6C razors for a long time, always gives a smooth comfortable shave and is easily "adjusted" to match the need. The Simpson badger brush is legendary, takes a little more work to generate lather but once done it's fantastic. Thanks for another everyday shave, good stuff. Enjoy!
I've got one, and a 6c, great razor! I go through the whole shave on the R6, most aggressive plate, but the razor is so smooth I find it mild. Excellent design.
Have you tried out the leaf razor? It takes 3 blade halves but I just use 2 halves in the lower 2 blade holders and it works great! Excellent smooth shave every day!
Great shave Geo! I enjoy using my 6S and have the Chubby 2 in super badger. It does take a lot of soap to make a good lather I find. I think I may prefer my Chubby 2 synthetic. It's a lot easier to dry too. Best wishes, Dave from England.
@@henriepstein2245 Yes! The Chubby 2 synthetic is just as good, lathers really easily and drys quickly. It also doesn't have to be soaked for 10 mins or so before you use it. Dave.
I have a 6s on order and can't wait to try it. I wish I found out about it years ago while I was in the military. I had the cheap and economical Micro Touch butterfly razor and hated shaving.
I discovered this channel in 2015 when I turned 18 and decided to get into DE razors. My dad never taught me how to shave which turned out to be a surprising blessing as I had to do my own research. If it wasn't for you and other shaving gurus, I might be shaving with Gillette Fusions now... I experimented with quite a few blades and soaps but ultimately came back to the very first combo I ever tried: Feather blade + Proraso eucalyptus and menthol. Anyways, I'm 25 now and re-discovered your channel this week. Glad to see you are still posting all the time and that the community has grown! Just wanted to say thank you for saving me money, providing me better shaves and reducing my impact on the environment for 7 years already by switching away from cartridge razors! Lastly, I have a question: I already found my ideal blade and soap but can you recommend me a safety razor? I love my old Mühle and my butterfly Nobelisk but I'd love to try a razor with specific characteristics (if it even exists). - Butterlfly or 2-piece - Adjustable aggressiveness - Fairly tall as I have large hands - Heavier than average so the weight does most of the work Would LOVE it if there is a razor that ticks most boxes. Love your content and wish you all the best!
I've been using the same cream as you and I love it. Try the Cremo refreshing post shave balm, it's great. I don't think that you can do better that the Rockwell 6S.
My 6S is my everyday shaver. They didn't yet offer colors when I bought mine but I prefer the one I have anyway. I bought the 6C first and then the 6S. My favorite shaving cream is Proraso Green cream and Cremo cooling post shave balm. I prefer the cream to the hard soaps. I can face lather and don't need bowls. I use a synthetic brush after trying a badger brush which was fine but required soaking first.
It is a great razor. I own the 6c and I am more than satisfied. I would personally avoid the coloured variants because the finish will degrade over time.
Hey Geo, great shave as always. Quick question. Is captains choice discontinuing some of their items? I noticed on shave nation that a lot of their stuff is out of stock or not there at all anymore.
Hi Ethan, Yes, they discontinued their balms and samplers. Pretty much everything else is available:shavenation.com/collections/captains-choice And-they are on holiday so they aren't able to supply vendors right now.
I've been waiting for you to perform an Everyday Shave with my go-to safety razor. Because of the interchangeable plates, I always recommend the 6S (or 6C) to anyone wanting a close, comfortable, nick-free shave. Also, you showed why I like lathering with synthetic brushes. I never have to use very much soap/cream whether I bowl lather or face lather. Another great Everyday Shave!
Look at all the hair on my face :) so I was going to buy one of these the Blue one it matches my iPhone. I have been reading reviews of these razors having issues with the paint coming off is that a real thing? I'm not going to spend $150 on garbage. Anybody have any insight?
Hi Geo, Happy Thanksgiving (in advance). I am looking to buy the The J crew Rockwell 6C edition. If you have it, can I request you to review it. I worry if it's handle would be too slippery to use. Thanks as always
I have noticed that Captain's Choice creams and soaps don't really lather up very well. Takes a lot of product, more than most soaps and creams I have used, in order to get a decent lather. Otherwise it is thin and sudsy. Also irritated/burned my skin the few times I tried using it.
Great video Dave! I'm not going to buy this aggressive razor, I already have an aggressive razor in the Muhle R41 i don't need another aggressive razor. i appreciate you Dave!
I think you have misinterpreted the levels on the plates. The actual gaps are R1: 0.008" (0.20 mm) R2: 0.014" (0.35 mm) R3: 0.019" (0.48 mm) R4: 0.024" (0.61 mm) R5: 0.027" (0.69 mm) R6: 0.031" (0.79 mm)
@@geofatboy yeah, after watching the video that came up. I've got the gunmetal version. The blue color would have to take some getting used to for me!!
Sorry Geo but I don’t see any competitive advantage. Increased number of plates, increased complication , increased time; not to mention the exuberant cost. Why not take stock of the Merkur Progress, or Fortur? Simpler, adjustable, safer and most importantly, half the price! Who has the time or the patience to remove and install plates? Thanks Geo for sharing! Chow!

Actually, the most accurate description is "configurable razor", because it can be disassembled and reassembled in six different configurations.
If you don't like the matte satin stainless steel you can also get yours nickel-, gold-, or rhodium-plated at Razor Emporium.
