I have found the Rockwell 6S to be an excellent tool to have in my toolbox. In response to Matt’s comment about having a need to hold on to the other plates once you found your setting is, absolutely. I almost gave away my other plates but when I went from shaving every three to four days to shaving every day, I found it necessary to change up my plate selection to a less aggressive plate. I went from using plates five and four to using plate three on my every day shave and starting my shave out with the number four or five plate to dropping to a number three plate on my second and/or third pass. This eliminated the irritation on my neck. As far as razors are concerned, I have found the 6S to help me to be a better shaver.
The first 6C I bought had threads that were flat on two sides, and when fully tightened, the plates would actually move a slight bit. Customer service sent me a new handle and cap. The new cap had threads that were not damaged. This gave me a much better experience. The first was cutting me all the time, but now with this properly quality controlled handle/cap, I am no longer experiencing cuts. Rockwell may have QC issues, but have good customer service.
I have the 6c and love it. As to the plates it depends on the days of growth. Being retired I may go a week before a shave - then I use the 4 or 5. But when daily shaving the 2 is just fine.
Just used my first Safety razor today. It was the Rockwell 6c. 😊 Have always used a Mach 3. Sooooooo….. I shaved way too fast, and I didn’t know what the plates were exactly and ended up using a #6. I slowed down and switched to a #1 then settled at #4. Never used a brush with later before and it was awesome. Did 2 extra layerings and passes (total of 3 rounds). The experience was fun and enjoyed the process very much. I think this is going to be another obsession to add to coffee making and fishing. 😂 thanks for the great breakdown and info.
I find that the media blasted 6s has just enough porosity to help stand fine stubble when shaving against the grain. The weight of the razor is desirable. I have a collection of well over 500 razors. Both safety razors and straight razors. The 6s is a good shave, but I find myself more pleased with a straight shave. For me shaving is a ritual or a meditation. It's an odd hobby, I know.
I use different plates on my 6c. 1st pass with the #4 plate, then the 2nd and 3rd pass on plate #3. For me it helps reduce the chance of any irritation, or razor burn. It's a truly great DE razor.
I use the Rockwell 6C It to me is a great everyday razor. The number 4 plate works for me every day. I use an Astra green blade and an occasional Nacet. They both provide excellent results with the Nacet being a tiny bit more aggressive. I use the Arko Bowl Shave Cream it is such a good value and I use coconut oil for my preshave. Just a litlle bit of that goes a long way. I get excellent results. I finish with witch hazel.
I use all my plates for my 6S. I generally use the higher plates after not shaving for a few days, and use the 3 for everyday use. I use the 1 plate for my against the grain pass because it's very smooth to get the last little bit I need to get off without irritation.
I shave every day. I use plate 4 for the first pass and plate 3 for the second pass and touch up. I get an amazing shave every time achieving BBS. It is the only razor I use now.
Hi Matt, Although I’m waiting on my Rex Konsul and hopefully that razor will work out to be my new go to razor, I use a 6S as my daily driver and do find the need to keep all the plates readily available. My plate usage is dependent on how long I go between shaves. If I shave regularly every other day, yes it is true that I use the #4 plate and have no need for the other plates but if I shave every three to four days, then it’s a entirely different approach for me. I start my shave off using the #6 plate for my first pass and then change the plate over to a #3 plate for my second pass and l lastly change to the #1 plate for my last pass. I know that it sounds cumbersome and inconvenient, but it really isn’t so inconvenient and difficult. This method helps to provide me with an awesome close shave every time. It is also the reason I’m getting the Rex Konsul. One razor that is totally efficient and easily adjustable on the fly with very little effort. In fact I purchased the Rockwell T2 for the exact reason that I’m purchasing the Rex Konsul. I really don’t know why but the T2 stainless just doesn’t give me that smooth comfortable shave I get with the 6S, the reason I’m not purchasing the Rex Ambassador. Looking forward to wearing the Razor Emporium Black/Blue shirt on my next zoom business call. If it is easier for you guys, just add it to my $1,100.00 order that I’m waiting on with you guys and I promise to wear the shirt and advertise for Razor Emporium on my weekly zoom call meetings. Most of the tech guys in our team are wet shavers and Razor Emporium customers.
Thanks for the video. I live in Brazil and finding these razors is not an easy task here. But I liked to know that the zinc razor is as good or better than the stainless steel Rockwell when I thought it was of inferior quality. I also believe that for the person who often changes brands of double edge will have to try each adjustment number again. Thank you so much .
The possible compromise to try for some people who might be comfortable with the setting "1" or "3", for just ONE of the base plates, could be Rockwell 2C. That one is ~ $30. Meaning, only need to by that one base plate with the cap and handle.
Brilliant concept: rhodium plating is going to be much more lubricious than a bead blasted finish. Not only that, rhodium is durable, very upscale handsome and doesn’t corrode. I liked your contrast of the bead blasted vs played finish textures. Spoken like an engineer. White gold jewelry is often rhodium plated to maintain shine, resist dulling and whiten the appearance of white gold, which is actually very slightly yellowish.
I’ve learned so much watching your channel. I got my grandfathers safety razor and want to have it refinished. Would definitely sport a shirt from your co. Thanks for the videos!
Hi Matt- Great comparison video today; thank you. I have the 6C and the 6S, and for me, the 6S (while nicely weighted) does drag a bit in comparison to the smoother 6C. As you say, replating the stainless version provides the best of both worlds. I do change plates during a shave- I usually start with a 4 or 5 for a WTG pass and reduce to a 2 for the XTG pass. It may seem like it’s a bother to do this in the middle of a shave, but I have become so use to it, I don’t even think about it. Thanks again for another great video, Matt, and all the best!
I have Rockwell 6C too. Because I wanted to adjust settings while shaving, I also went with Rockwell T2. I’m a sucker for fine razors, may go for the 6S some time in the future.
Hi Matt 😊 Great review, as always ! I have both the 6C, and a 6S (version 1). I will say that when I have a three-day beard, such as when I don't shave over a long weekend, I tend to use a #4, or #5 baseplate. If I have to shave a few days in a row, such as on a vacation with the wifey, I will use the #1, or #2 baseplates. Either way, I love both versions! Take care, have a great day !!
I recently purchased a Rockwell 6C Gunmetal chrome razor. My preferred blade is either a Lord or a Feather. I normally use plate 4, but as the blade goes through several shaves, I find that I move to plate 5. When the blade slows down and starts to tug, I load a fresh blade and go back to plate 4. At this point I have not tried plate 6.
I have the 6S I Find it gives a really good shave. I find the 4 is the best shave for me.. I purchased it about 4 years ago. At the time it was and hopefully still is made in the USA.
Just found this interesting and informative video. An answer to the "system". I have very sensitive skin and finding the most comfortable shave means a lot to me. Skin has become so sensitive that I just ordered a 6c. Closeness being adjustable ( twist a knob or trade a plate) makes sense . I've been using a straight razor for years and found a difference between Dovo and Boker, with Boker my preference. Same prep, same soap, same technique and still a difference. Learning about DE shaving, more than one place mentioned using different brands of blades making a difference. So....yeah . there is a reason for "the system". Plates will be more consistent than twist, wear in cam or thread, how far turned. Thanks for the fine video
Back when I started "wet shaving" ~2013. I purchased an iKon, and it was a similar solution to this system. The difference being it only had 3 different adjustments. I was a kickstarter backer of the Rockwell Razor, and really like the idea of the system. It is a perfect razor to buy for someone who is just starting out. Although, the user might make a mistake in base selection due to misunderstanding & not correcting their poor technique. Still, it is a good system. Like you said though, you will end up using your preferred plate with the rest being in storage. But, once a rookie can get a consistent shave with one blade, they can try other plates to see if others will work better. Still, the Merkur HD (2-piece razor) is in my opinion the best to learn with. It has the least variables (you cant put it together incorrectly.) Once you mastered that razor, your second should be a Rockwell. That way you can refine your shave to your personal preference.
I don't quite agree that you stick to one plate because the skin becomes more sensitive after the first pass. The advantage of several plates is that you can start with the most aggressive one on the first pass, and finish with a less aggressive plate on the last pass. I think this applies to several people who have a heavy and dense growth
I do own the Rockwell 6c and 6s. I do use the different plates. Since I am a daily shaver sometimes I need to give my skin a little break so want to go less aggressive. Also, I am a head shaver so I will often use a less aggressive plate. I won't go over a 4 plate on my head. I love being able to use the same great razor, but tone it up or down and have the same great razor. It's also beneficial having the adjustability on the three piece razor, because it will last forever and not have to be refurbished. I am very tempted to purchase the Rhodium or Gold version from you since I love this razor so much. It is a great shaver.
Hello fellow human! I know it’s been 4 years and I’m not sure I’m getting a reply to this… but did the 6C survive till today and would you still recommend it?
What I have seen on another video of the model S is that you get the best results when you work your way down starting high (6), and working down to (1).
Hi I have Rockwell 2c. I thought since I don't have a rough beard and I'm a daily shaver the only base plate number I use and it works for me is the #3. I get very smooth comfortable shaves sometimes doing 2 passes instead of 3. It cost me 30 bucks not bad at all. Very good razor no irritation no razor burn. I love it. I think it's a high end razor without the high end price.
Thank you for this video. I have a Merkur 6c which I like but find I need something a bit mor aggressive. Will visit your site. As an architect we spec mat finishes for flooring. Similar to floor tile Mat finishes will always be less slippery than a polished or gloss finish such as chrome.
Choose the different plates based on the length of your stubble. If one week u shave more often use a lower number base plate. If you let your stubble grow out say 4-5 days or more and have heavier growth use the higher number base plate. Problem solved :)
I actually like the 6S that is less slippery when shaving. I have yet to cut myself (plate 4) and I think the less slippery shave allows for more control.
Good info...good delivery style...everything explain...I heard the chrome was cheaper and smoother before you So I'm going to buy the chrome with all the plates. 6c....50 bucks. Best deal. West coast shaving
I don’t own one yet, my head shave is different from my face shave and have different likes…adjustable plates…good. I also daily shave for work, and I vape a variety of blades, and I can mow down rubble easier with the higher number plates
Hello Matt, I really enjoyed that video. Thank you. I would not have guessed that the stainless steel would drag. I did own a stainless steel set a while back and sent to you to have it rhodium plated (as well as its stainless steel stand). As always, your work was really top notch. I ultimately sold it on eBay because I have other razors I liked better. I did only have the need for one plate, so the rest just sat in the drawer. I kept most of my vintage Gillette razors, the Rex adjustable (a favorite), the above the Tie Slant (second favorite) and a few others and that I liked better. One interesting thing was that after I had you plate it, I made a comment on a You Tube video that I had the stainless steel version plated, and got some harsh feedback from people that couldn't believe I had the stainless steel model plated. In my opinion the stainless steel razor was not ascetically appealing (but the rhodium was!). Anyway, thanks again for the great video.
I bought mine when I was new to wet shaving it is great for finding the level of aggressiveness that fits you. I use 5 and 3 the rest get put away but for the price that's ok.
Suppose the plates could be good when you have to go milder because of skin irritation from previous shaves or sunburn... Waiting impatiently for my Model T from Rockwell... Butterfly adjustable!
Great information! I bought a 6C a few years ago and have been using it exclusively ever since. I was considering the 6S but it was twice the price. Turns out I made the best choice after all. I was thinking that the 6S was more accurately machined rather than cast as the 6C is. My 6C is perfectly aligned as far as I can tell. I don't have to fiddle with the blade as in other razors that I have tried.
My first razor was a 6C, then started acquiring a few vintage razors. My daily use plate is 5, but will occasionally use plate 4 or 3 if I have some irritation from a bad shave.
Great review Matt, I was unsure if I should get the 6c spend more & get the 6s. After watching this i'll be getting the 6c, half the price of the 6s & just as good.
Love the video. I just started wet shaving You have helped me so much. I just got a Gillette ball end from you and love it. Shaving with history and loving it while I do it. No more ingrown hairs
This is a neat idea for a young wet shaver to have an adjustable shaving system. As a young man you tend to have lighter stubble so don't require, or want, to have an aggressive shave while you're learning. As you get older and your beard begins to get more course you can swap a plate out to suit your changing needs. I have a nice Gillette Slim Adjustable for my son to have when the day comes that he needs to start shaving so that he can always match his razor to his current shaving requirements.
Very informative video Matt. I have both the 6c and 6s, however I haven’t used them yet. Now I have something to look forward to and will have a better understanding of how the “system” works after I watched your video. Have a great week.
Hi matt thanks for the video. I have the 6s have used it 2 times now. I thought the dragging was just me but it is not. I am 58 so don't need a razor that last longer than me LOL. Gonna send it back and order the 6c because of the apparent "easier glide".
Thanks for this video! I just switched from cartridges to a Rockwell kit and I appreciate the informative demonstration. Plus some interesting background info too!
Good video. I have the 6S and found it to be great. I never had any issue with the feel of the shave. I believe the plated versions probably would be better but it is all relative when the roughest already feels outstanding. I believe it comes down the the material and which you prefer. I agree with the plates. I always use the same one. I think it is best for a beginner to experiment and discover what they like. Really for me it is the same for all adjustables. I just adjust to play with the feel. I shave every day so it is not like my whiskers vary much.
I think you are correct about people choosing a favorite plate and essentially retiring the others. It is kind of a "microcosm" of the Wet Shaving World as a whole. In other words, we tend to have a or favorites razor(s) and use them to a much greater extent over other razors in a collection and One actually has to consciously work at rotating razors. Combine this sort of habitual behavior with a Single Razor with multiple plates and it gets complicated. ;-)
I got a 6C gunmetal too (just got it 2 days), looks badass in gunmetal and shaves perfectly (my first two shaves were on plate R3). I have 4 other DE razors too, but this is the best of all.
Great video as always! As a new wet shaver, I figured the Rockwell 6C was a great pick up I got a few months ago. So far I have found the 4-5 plate to work the best for my face; however, sometimes I will go down to a 1-2 for the second and even third pass over. I find this gives a great BBS, especially as I have sensitive patches right around my mouth and neck, where I can't get as aggressive for the first pass. Cheers!
Hello Matt can you clear something up a little please. I hear that the 6c has a few problems with the centre post screw threads. It's more easy to strip the threads than the 6s.
Got a 6C, and use the #3 side. I've used it for a month without a nick or a cut. The good thing about the system is that you don't have to buy several razors until you find one with acceptable aggressiveness. Please send my tee shit in the Xl size. Thank you!
Very well done video. Your detailed review as you shave is so cool sir. Would be ordering a Rockwell 6S to start my journey into DE razor shaving (been on electric foil shaves all my adult life, and want to go more traditional, and smoother BBS shaves of face and head). PLEASE HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST TO GOLD PLATE MY ROCKWELL 6S? Please advise. Regards. Gomez
I've got a 6C. I do use multiple plates depending on the blade used and how many days of stubble I have. It's a great razor, however, I recently purchased a Merkur Progress and am looking forward to making adjustments on the fly.
Great review. I have see a few comparison videos where the shaver says that the chrome plated 6c glides better on the skin than the 6s. Kevy Shaves does a comparison and he prefered the 6s for quality build but the 6c for a smoother shave.
Great comparison shave. I enjoy my 6S but have to admit it looks very cool in the rhodium finish. I don't use it very often these days since I got a Karve Christopher Bradley shaving system. Although the Karve only comes in plain brass I get the smoothest most comfortable shaves that I've ever had. Thanks for making the video.
Chrome finish 3 piece razor problem is screw thread stripping. How long duration of the Rockwell 6C do you think compared to stainless steel 6S? And no problem with 6S?
Hey Matt I love this video I have the 6c and I love using it that’s all I really use is adjustable razors because I shave when I have 4 to 5 days of growth I use plate 4
Great video, perfect timing also, was thinking of ordering one of those but wasnt to sure what model to get , you gave me lots of good information to think about , have a great day
Heh suspossed to from 6 to 2 I always start with first pass on number 6 then 2nd pass number 4 then last pass number 2 and BOOM you got BBS face and good video of yours
Great video Matt! I've been waiting for someone to do a video like this. You confirmed my suspicions about the 6C vs the 6S as there has been some debate about this in the shave groups. And thanks for your description of these razors as "an adjustable razor system" versus a classic on-the-fly adjustable. For now, I'll stick with my 6C.
Hey Matt. Looks like you’re in the home stretch of the latest batch of Ambassador razors. I’ve been waiting months and very excited for mine to arrive. The 6s is a great razor, smooth as can be, great shaver. I love shaving with it. I find a 3 pass shave with the 3 plate gives me as close a shave as a 3 pass shave with my large gap Timeless. The Timeless takes down more stubble on the first pass, but by the end of pass 3 they get me to the same BBS. The Rockwell does indeed drag more. I have RR’s new Game Changer with both plates. Really like it. Machined from marine grade SS billet, $55 with handle. Extra for the .84 plate. It is quickly becoming a favorite. Had a Cerakote done on my pretty Slim Adjustable. It is gorgeous and quite aggressive. It has a matte finish that looks much like the bead blasted 6s but it glides much better. When I’m taking down a lot of growth I reach for it. Not for hacking down a beard though. I use a vintage open comb Gillette for longer hairs. Can you rhodium plate a Game Changer? It is already polished to a pleasingly soft finish but why not be the only guy with a rhodium Game Changer?
Ahhhhh....Perfect video as my wife is already asking for Christmas ideas and I've actually been scoping out the Rockwell 6S. I really found your take on the 6C & 6S shave feel interesting in regards to the way the razor glided across your skin. I like the idea of having the stainless version due to durability. How much is your rhodium refinishing service? Great video and thanks for making it.
@matt great insight. I currently use the 6C , it works great. I have had my eye on the 6S. Is the 6S matte finish really that bad? Does it scrape your skin like a mild sandpaper? Also, will the Rhodium coated version fade out overtime?
Blue Gear the 6S is more of “media blasted” so it has very small pores from the mold as a finish, the plating then covers all of those pores and very much assists with the gliding while shaving, I borrowed a 6S and ultimately went with a 6C for budget and because it glides a bit better. If you end up with a 6S with a Rhodium plating from Razor Emporium it’ll most likely glide as smooth if not smoother than the 6C and rhodium as a plating as thick as Razor Emporium puts on will last for easily a decade as long as you just wash off the soap scum- if not, it’ll last a lifetime. The 6S doesn’t really “scrape” you can just feel it over stubble a bit more than the plated versions. Hopefully this helps- happy shaving!
Hi Matt just came across your video 6c vs 6s. I purchased a 6c here in the UK they retail for approximately £50 so not a bargain basement razor. On arrival the 4 plate had to be replaced due to bad moulding. I had owned it for 11 months and used it in rotation with my other razors when the threads have up so used daily I would have only had a few weeks use out of it. I must say I found the shave excellent so I bought a 2c to get the handle and top plate so I could continue to use it but there are no guarantees as to how long this will last and now wish I had gone for the 6s. I understand that you will think I had been over tightening it but I only ever tighten my razors finger tight and have had no issues with any of my other razors. Excellent razor poor quality the combined cost of the 6c and 2c would have bought me a 6s. Enjoyed your video and hope my experience is of some use. Keep well and keep safe.
can you elaborate on the thread issues? also I though rockwell had a warranty? I'm on 5th year with my 6c and no issues. I do dry it off including the threads when done. be safe!!
@@germanshepherd13 Yes you could not tighten the handle up in fact you could literally push it on and pull it off with ease. I always wash and dry all my razors after use all my razors look as new. Rockwell do have a warranty I think it is about 6 weeks. I contacted them and they said it was out of the 6 week warranty.(I cannot remember the exact time they quoted but I am sure I am not far out). Initially they agreed to let me have the part free of charge but I would have to pay postage and other costs and as I live in the United Kingdom it was cheaper to buy a 2c. However after several messages back and forth they have decided to wave the postal charges thought if they had made this offer in the first place I wouldn't have needed to buy the 2c though I am very grateful. I now realize I should have gone for the 6s as I have spent the cost of the 6s buying the 6c and 2c. Let me say I like the razor very much just very disappointed with the quality. Would I buy another yes but it would be the 6s american made. I am still waiting for the parts to arrive I trust it will not be much longer. I hope this answers your question.
I have found the Rockwell 6S to be an excellent tool to have in my toolbox.

As far as razors are concerned, I have found the 6S to help me to be a better shaver.
A good term would be INTERCHANGEABLE instead of adjustable! An excellent system still!
I like that.
The first 6C I bought had threads that were flat on two sides, and when fully tightened, the plates would actually move a slight bit. Customer service sent me a new handle and cap. I use number 4 for all three passes daily save! Never irritates my skin , with Astra blade ! Love it
I have the 6C. Efficient and smooth like no other razor i know. I love it!
Hundred percent correct
Do you have S? What's in comparison please?
@@troecurov3 I don't. But everybody say there is no different between them
6s more soft. 6c more agressive on the same plates
I shave every day. I use plate 4 for the first pass and plate 3 for the second pass and touch up.
I get an amazing shave every time achieving BBS.
It is the only razor I use now.
Just ordered the 6S with rhodium. Today can’t wait to see and experience this fine razor.
I found that Cremo shave cream the absolutely best shave cream that I ever used. And I tried a lot..

Got my Rockwell 6C and used for the 1st time this past week. Started on Blade/Plate 1. Love the weight and length and great smooth shave. :-)
Hi. Is one softer than the other? Or are they equally soft when using the same brush heads? Thanks.
I use a 6 plate on my first pass then go to a 3 plate for my second pass and I have really good results with little irritation
I have a 6C I absolutely love my razor it is the best razor I own at this time.
Hello Matt, great video ur right about the plates once you find one that you like you stick with it. I use plate 5 only!
I love my Weber SS, that they don't make anymore, at great shave every time, with a polished cap, and base plate.
I have a 6c and love it. I usually use setting 4. It gives a a great smooth shave.
Same here, I have the gunmetal finish.
Thanks for this video, very informative and helpful to someone who is looking to get their first non "department/drugstore" safety razor.
Good info...good delivery style...everything explain...I heard the chrome was cheaper and smoother before you
So I'm going to buy the chrome with all the plates. 6c....50 bucks. Best deal. West coast shaving
I don’t own one yet, my head shave is different from my face shave and have different likes…adjustable plates…good. I also daily shave for work, and I vape a variety of blades, and I can mow down rubble easier with the higher number plates
I have the Rockwell 2c Gunmetal and using plate 3 with a Feather or Personna platinum blade has been the best razor I have used for years.
I love adjustables but my best shave I got is with my vintage non-adjust Matador razor. So smooth and clean!
Nice razor. Great price. I have the 2C in the gunmetal finish but the Rhodium 6S looks sweet.
My daily use plate is 5, but will occasionally use plate 4 or 3 if I have some irritation from a bad shave.
yep thats the same point i tought that the 6c would glide better. So i went with the 6c and i dont regret it. Great comparsion video.
Great review Matt, I was unsure if I should get the 6c spend more & get the 6s. After watching this i'll be getting the 6c, half the price of the 6s & just as good.
How do you like it, now? I just got tracking info from Rockwell today for my 6c.
Extra plates are good if you are using it for body shave. Maybe you need less aggressive mode for your arm pits or head if you are shaving head.
I have the 6s and stick with base 6. Super smooth and efficient. Would love a 7\8 plate.
Another great review,I’m new to safety razors and need all the help and information I can get. Thanks Darren u.k
Combine this sort of habitual behavior with a Single Razor with multiple plates and it gets complicated. ;-)
I love my Rockwell 6c in gun metal!!!
Cheers!
Awesome! Great to see you refinishing this razor. The 6s finish was buggin me like crazy!
I have both and I have been using them mostly on number 3 and they have been wonderful😁
Hello Matt, I have the 6s first and second on 3 then third pass on 1. I get excellent results that way.
Hello Matt can you clear something up a little please. I hear that the 6c has a few problems with the centre post screw threads. It's more easy to strip the threads than the 6s.
Just ordered the 6C thanks👍
Got a 6C, and use the #3 side. I've used it for a month without a nick or a cut. The good thing about the system is that you don't have to buy several razors until you find one with acceptable aggressiveness. Please send my tee shit in the Xl size. Thank you!
I have a 6C too now, works great, my best razor. If i were rich i would buy a Rex Ambassador :-) ...
Does the 24k gold revamp shave as smoothly as the Rhodium? Thanks!
they should feel identical
the model T is really nice its worth the money and the chrome stays clean
Very well done video. Your detailed review as you shave is so cool sir. Would be ordering a Rockwell 6S to start my journey into DE razor shaving (been on electric foil shaves all my adult life, and want to go more traditional, and smoother BBS shaves of face and head). PLEASE HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST TO GOLD PLATE MY ROCKWELL 6S? Please advise.
Regards.
Gomez
Available on our site www.razorrevamp.com select modern razor with 3 base plates.
That's the same razor I got! I got the matte black stainless 6s! Good stuff! I'm a new rookie DE shaver and I think I made a good choice! 😅😁👍🏻
I've got a 6C. I do use multiple plates depending on the blade used and how many days of stubble I have. It's a great razor, however, I recently purchased a Merkur Progress and am looking forward to making adjustments on the fly.
Sweet Matt. Thank you for doing this comparison. I've been looking at getting a RockWell razor.
I was wondering why the review downgraded the 6s until the custom rhodium finished version there selling was pulled out. It made sense then.
There is no question that a heavily polished and smooth surface will glide better than a bead blasted surface.
@@RazorEmporium have to disagree, bead blasted seems very smooth (I would say like shark skin in water) same/similar a as my Muhle.
Great video and good to know that the finish of the razor may have an effect on the shave.
Great review. I have see a few comparison videos where the shaver says that the chrome plated 6c glides better on the skin than the 6s. Kevy Shaves does a comparison and he prefered the 6s for quality build but the 6c for a smoother shave.
Different blades(feather or Derby) may have a use for the other plates
It looks like I may have to get my 6S rhodium plated down the road. Right now I am waiting for my Rex Ambassador to get here. It's killing me!
I'm new here. Is there a big difference between 6S and 6C? also, the plates what are they difference?
I’ve been using the 6S daily for years with #4 insert and a year or so back got a 2C (same as 6C only one insert 1&3
Good video. I just bought the 6c. Looking forward to using it. Good point about the extra plates.
The Rockwell razors are nice. Good job at showing the adjustability of the razor.
Your comments about China are right on. Yes they can & do make great stuff if they focus on quality.
Chrome finish 3 piece razor problem is screw thread stripping. How long duration of the Rockwell 6C do you think compared to stainless steel 6S? And no problem with 6S?
Thank you very much for taking time to reply
Hey Matt I love this video I have the 6c and I love using it that’s all I really use is adjustable razors because I shave when I have 4 to 5 days of growth I use plate 4
I've heard a lot of good things about the RE rhodium plating. I've got to use it one day for some favorites in vintage Gillette's !
Great video, perfect timing also, was thinking of ordering one of those but wasnt to sure what model to get , you gave me lots of good information to think about , have a great day
get the Model T boy its the best
Heh suspossed to from 6 to 2 I always start with first pass on number 6 then 2nd pass number 4 then last pass number 2 and BOOM you got BBS face and good video of yours
Привет! Сегодня получил самый лучший в мире станок для бритья Rockwell 6S. Я в восторге от его красоты и качества бритья. Жалею что раньше не купил.
I'm waiting for my 6C and will keep you posted, Sir. Thanks for sharing.
got my rockwell 6c today best there is hand down
Do you still have it? Would you recommend it?
Yes I still have mine. Not using all the different options but great smooth razor 🎉🎉🎉
The same issue is with the adjustable. When yiou adjust it to what suits you, you keep it at that setting.
$70 on top of the price of the razor when you buy from us so $169 total. Thx :)
@matt great insight. I currently use the 6C , it works great. I have had my eye on the 6S.
Is the 6S matte finish really that bad? Does it scrape your skin like a mild sandpaper?
Also, will the Rhodium coated version fade out overtime?
Its not that it was "bad" it just didn't glide like the chrome or rhodium plated ones.
Fantastic video Matt. I really like your comparison shaves and all in all honesty. Cheers 👍🏻💈
Hi I checked the warranty is 60 days.
