Thanks for the reaction. I am very grateful that Tarja and Marko reconciled and are friends. I hope they work together forever in some form. You can see how much they enjoy performing together. And they transfer that joy to the audience and the fans.
This wasn't an encore. This was originally Tarja's concert and Tarja's tour. Marko always opened the concert with an acoustic set, which was Marko's idea, where he played songs from his solo and also NW's The Islander, which he composed. Then Tarja sang songs from her solo. To the last part they returned to the stage together (I think the first song for them was this Dead to the World) and sang duets from Tarja's solo, Marko's solo, two NW songs and Phantom of the Opera. As an encore, I think they sang Over the Hills and Far Away was already covered by Nightwish.
Regarding copyright. Anyone can play covers at their concerts and they don't have to pay or have permission to do it. The artist would only pay if he wanted to release the covers. And that goes for all bands and artists in general.
In addition, I read somewhere that Tarja owns part of the copyright for songs from her era. And apparently also Marko, who was also a co-composer for some NW songs.
In interviews, Marko often praises Tuomas as the author of beautiful songs, and Tarja also considers Nightwish a big part of her life.
Thank you Petra for the request and for your words, especially about the copyright aspect. I think that's important to know why they can perform old Nightwish songs during a concert without any difficulty.

I believe that this thing with Marko performing with Tarja was kinda in the middle of Tarja's setlist. Then Marko had a little break and at the end they did an encore singing Over the Hills and Far Away.
Marko and Tarja were the 1st to reconcile. Xmas concert on Finnish TV 2016/17 They did a duet of Ave Maria. Marko was also a guest on stage during a festival appearance of Tarja at least once. Maybe twice. The footage was floating around. But this is Tarja's own gig and it was formally arranged.
Marko is officially opening for her.
Were he with his brothers doing Tarot's music I would think not as his work there predates his joining NW. Marko is 10 years Tarja's senior.
Knowing his health, marriage, and professional struggles have been an issue it is great to see him happy and full of life again.
I have said elsewhere how great it is to see friends having fun. They are extroverts and need people to charge them up as the crowds do.
Yes, they played Over The hills to close the "Living The Dream Together" shows. I wonder if they'll change one or two songs for the next European tour, hopefully we could have Slaying The Dreamer or Beauty And The Beast

The air around them is literally charged with electricity. They should never be completely separated from each other again. They seem to be great musical partners who bring each other a lot of joy and understanding. It is so refresing.

If you call Nightwish the Big Machine of the music industry that Marko has been into for most of his career, all he did without Nightwish is the Small Machine. The Big Machine is for the money, the Small Machine is for the heart and for growing as a musician. And this is what I get from seeing them together. They have so much fun, a lot more than I can see in Nightwish performances. That shows a lot to me. Marko looks like he's feeling free again. They both together are more real to me than probably Nightwish has been for the last decade. Maybe it's just me, but that is what I see.
Fans seem to be thrilled and no wonder...they also look so happy together ; )

i am no vocal expert at all, but i thought this song would have been difficult for a male singer to perform at the same level after 20+ years, and yet...those 'HEAVEN QUEEEEN ETC' oh my soul ❤ shame on me for doubting of marko 😂
Marko is listed as one of the co-writers of 'Dead to the World' so I'm guessing he can't, even in theory, be denied the right to perform. By all evidence Marko and Tarja were killing it on this tour; I wish I could have been there.
Noone can deny anyone to perform "covers" live.....
The law re © is who is allowed to publish, credit to the original writers and who can profit from it.
They could do a cover of it and put it on an album. But they need to split the remaining 60% share with Tuomas, Emppu, and Jukka, unless they waive royalties. 5 way 20% split was the arrangement.
Or to clarify the 5 way split of the net after the label takes its cut. Then their managers take theirs. But in Tarja's case that's Marcello so a non issue there as they are married. Taxed as one entity.

I love this specific performance! Marko and Tarja are having so much fun. Their performances brings me so much joy! I got to be honest, I don't think I have ever seen Marko smile as much as in these concerts with Tarja, while he is performing
And Tarja... well she usually smiles and laughs a lot, but maybe now even more😄
I love that Tarja has not denied her past. She enjoys the music she did with Nightwish.
And nor has Marko. He still thinks that Tuomas is a mastermind when it comes to writing music.

Yep his issues are management and communication. Maybe all NW former members and label execs would benefit from group therapy.
The audio flaw was the fan fiddling with the mobile phone which was used to record this. Hand moved near the microphone or something.

What you are doing is really desperate. You must be very afraid of her. In additon, you don't seem to know anything about YT.
I have news for you. We love Tarja. We loved her in NW and we love her even now that she's gone from the band. We love her music and her personality. And we love her and protect her all the more when wretches like you kick her because they can't stand that she's still here, loved by her fans. What you are doing is just proof of how much she annoys you, just as it annoys you that Marko is no longer in the band but is with her. And I hope she annoys you even more until you burst with rage.

Fan recording on a cell was never designed to broadcast standards.
Now when they record the show with a film crew at the cost of tens of thousands of Euros I imagine when they film in Finland ( my guess) and its all edited together then you see it as those who were there. That technology exists to see it at all when they haven't filmed it yet is amazing to those of us who grew up before cell phones, never mind camera phones were a thing. A write up and a few stills best you could hope for. Heck I remember the revolution of colour photos and print in newspapers not just in ads and the comics.
Technology has skyrocketed in the last 30 years.
We have a lot of fun with Tarja and Marko and if it causes you to feel seriously ill, consult your local skull driller.
