Thank you so much for this reaction! Tarja is classically and operatically trained, she could be opera singer, but she chose metal music, as first with band Nightwish, and after Nightwish, in her solo career you can find songs in many different styles, metal, rock, ballads, classical songs (she even composed her own "Ave Maria" song), she performing opera arias, she is even in electronic duo Outlanders. She is really amazing. :) And maybe in December you will react to some songs from her dark christmas albums, I hope so. ;)
Thanks a lot for this reaction. This is one of my favorite Tarja's performances. You're right about the motivation behind her Dark Christmas albums. I love how she channeled her sadness into something so beautiful. I have already been to her Christmas concert twice. It's an amazing experience.
Tarja sings it beautifully, I'm surprised I haven't heard this version yet because 😅I too have heard many many versions.🥰Have you heard Lucy and Martha Thomas's version from a month ago? If not, here's the link to listen for yourself ❤ ua-cam.com/video/7dcVnaW1ERg/v-deo.html
Who was Fauré ? A composer whose music was the complete opposite of the symphonic "explosions" so frequent in the Romantic era (Beethoven, Wagner, Mahler, etc.). His music is said to be "inner", introspective, meditative, and his Requiem doesn't fit well with singers who are too demonstrative. This is why I particularly like the version of little Sterre, who understood this perfectly. That said, Tarja's version is not very far from perfection in this sense. In short, it's not raw vocal power that must be judged here, but the spirit of contemplation. As for calling this version "dark"... that's normal, it's a Requiem !
@@pietkeizer5279 Yes, at the age of 12 she sang this Pie Jesu in tribute to her recently deceased grandfather. It was a very beautiful interpretation, full of serene emotion that she would rediscover a little later with Handel. I really like this young singer who combines undeniable vocal qualities with a rich inner life.

You mean Sterre van Boxtel? Indeed a good singer.
