Floor has said in interviews that this is actually the most difficult song of Nightwish for her to sing, solely due to those sustained, highly powerful belting notes. It takes tremendous breath control and wears her out, so to speak.

This is such a good song for seeing the incredible teamwork between all of the members of the band. No matter how many times I watch these videos, I am always amazed at how tight they are, and how much fun they are having.

" Ever Dream " is the sixth single by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. Released as the first single from the band's fourth studio album, Century Child, it was the group's first single in two years, following " Deep Silent Complete " in 2000.
The song is more operatic in nature than later works and the music itself is more on the heavy metal side. It is still played live since 2002 until today. "Ever Dream" was certified with Gold Disc in Finland two days after its release, with more than 5,000 copies sold, and later received Platinum Disc with more than 10,000 copies sold.

Oh yes, for this setlist was the toughest, but Tuomas pushes her vocally and I am sure the newer stuff is much tougher. Hell Tuomas even said the vocal acrobatics he added were insane in the newer albums, but Floor loves a challenge. To quote Tuomas, "And boy what a job she did."

Floor said once this was the hardest one of the lot. Reason behind it being that it was written for another singer who sang in a head voice. Tuomas offered her to lower it half a step; and she said no. "I'll just belt it".

I love these 'journeys' into NW. It's why "reaction" channels are a success. It's such a pleasure watching nice folks discover music that's 'new' to them, that we already know is f***ing great. It reenacts that 'first time' emotion that those of us familiar with the band simply can't experience again, authentically (not until the new album anyway!)
You've got so much great stuff coming your way from NW. There are no duff songs or set fillers...if it's NW, and recorded, it's going to be worthwhile*.
By 'worthwhile'; I mean extraordinarily well crafted rock masterpieces.

Great reaction! Ever Dream is probably my favorite Nighwish song. A beautiful love song, I still can't believe how amazing, and tight, the band was. Jukka's drumming is insanely great; his powerful/ complex ramp-up is like a locomotive by the end. Most drummers use double kick pedals. Jukka's double kick drums are the only way to get a perfect tone but are much more difficult to play and far less forgiving; make a mistake and everyone knows, but Jukka is perfect; my favorite drummer. Marko has beautiful tone, breath control, and expressiveness, and meshes perfectly with Floor all while playing bass. Then there's Floor of the amazing outfits (yes, they're incredible). Floor is a true Dramatic Soprano; she has such a a powerful, rich, emotive voice that she can sing over, or cut through, either a full orchestra or a heavy metal band which is why some think she's a Mezzo when she isn't, this is what a great Dramatic Soprano sounds like. Floor has a rare and highly valued voice in the classical world, but she also sings rock, pop, harsh vocals, and many more styles, but what makes Floor so remarkable is her embodying songs; her emotional impact. All her passion comes through here, which is why Floor gives everyone chills; you feel that passion. It's a true a gift, and Floor shares it with all of us.
You've got that right... it's just HER... everything oozes perfection, dedication, empathy, kindness, and true artistry!
To my mind this concert was and still is the best concert ever. Those, who were there, may be proud. I envy them. My favorit is, of course, Ghost Love Score.

It’s so satisfying when a reactor, after just a few songs, picks up on all the myriad things that make us love this band so damn much. singing white haired bass guitarist is Marko Hietala, drummer Jukka Nevalainen and another guitarist extraordinary is Emppu Vuorinen . I like Emppu. He has always mischievous grin on his face, he loves to drink his favorite beer corona on the stage and he just can't be at same place for long a time on stage. Tuomas Holopainen and Floor Jansen you apparently knew. Possible other ones too :D

Well...At that time in 2013, this song was the most challenging vocal piece for Floor (believe it or not).
But, THIS IS Floor Jansen Ladies and Gentlemen !!!! Also, Marko really showing off on this one 😁.

Kaitsu is also a great drummer: Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires will give you some phenomenal drumming, great Marco and Floor call and answer and vocal pyrotechnics. I recommend it.

It's a complete mystery how they manage to just perform flawlessly song after song. For Floor to be belting out these songs one after another, without a hint of strain or fatigue is remarkable (15 of them in this show). She is a generational talent, and the rest of the band are just as accomplished.

Jukka isn't the new drummer, he's the original. He has now been replaced due to his insomnia problems, with his friend Kai. Jukka is still involved in the band's management.
Yes, I was saying they have a new drummer now (not that Jukka WAS the new drummer). I saw Kai in one video a bit ago so I don't have a lot to compare him to. Altho some have told me that he was Jukka's pick to take over for him.

Speaking of Tuomas and his writing, he has another band, Auri, together with his wife, and Troy. If I remember correctly, Kai helps out with the drumming. It is really beautiful. He also has another little side project, The Life And Times of Scrooge, which is sort of a soundtrack to the graphic novel about Scrooge McDuck, written by Don Rosa. Tuomas is a big fan of Disney, as am I, well, the older, non woke Disney, that is. And if you're up for something out of the ordinary, you should check out All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World, it's the second side of their latest album Human :II: Nature. It's a classical masterpiece, that shows why he is referred to as the Metal Mozart. It is 30 minutes and 8 tracks long, and it's best experienced in one go, and there's a beautiful, fan made, Nightwish approved video to go with it. By the way, I think you're doing quite good with the pronunciations 😊I am swedish, not finnish, but you're doing alright, as far as I can tell. And about this time traveler guy, I'll have to watch the DVD to make sure, but to me it kinda looks like he's edited in there. I could be wrong of course, it happens from time to time.

@@MrsRealistic Thank you for taking the time to read it all, and reply 😁Yes, I love the classic, older Disney movies, and some of the newer ones too, I hope they don't become too woke, but if the recent non animated Disney, and Hollywood, is anything to go by, well, I am a bit worried. I have a bluray collection containing 57 Disney movies, from Snow White to Frozen 2. I'm also a fan of the Duckburgh universe, as I mentioned, Tuomas has made a whole soundtrack to the graphic novel about the life and adventures of Scrooge McDuck.

Yes, unfortunately Disney has jumped the shark and is cool with the woke nonsense involving children these days, so I don't know if they'll come back from that. I love the classics (which they're now trying to remake because "racism" or the patriarchy, or some blather...) hopefully they'll realize that they're pandering to the smallest minority and the majority don't want the change. Just look at how poorly the "new" Show White was received 😂👎

Disney botched Star Wars, and Pirates of the Caribbean just isn't Pirates of the Caribbean without Johnny Depp, they did him dirty. The only reason they are making all these remakes, is to show how "inclusive" they are, and gender/race swap characters. I actually prefer DreamWorks over Disney these days, but I am sad to see them do a remake of How To Train Your Dragon, seemingly for the exact same reason as Disney. Anyway, sorry if this got a little off topic, but Tuomas loves Disney, and so do I. We seem to share some views, of the universe, and life. My favorite version of my favorite Nightwish song. For a brief time, I could play it on guitar, bass guitar, and drums. I can still nail two out of three of those, but I've long since left drumming behind.
I think it´s time to hear something special. There is a guy named Arjen Anthony Lucassen, a dutch songwriter, producer, musician and singer who is astonishing when it comes to create music.
He has many different projects, Ayreon, ArjensStar One, Arjens Supersonic Revolution, ... All great projects with different styles and storys.
Every here and then, he does some live shows, mixing together his projects and make a mashup. He has some great videos, but the live shows are another level.

Floor is so pure before she got those stupid eyesore tattoos. She didn't need them. That's why Wacken 2013 is my favorite concert to watch. I'm am so glad she covered them up for her Amsterdam Live 2021 solo concert. But, at the end of day, for me she is the best all around greatest versatile female artist ever. And I've seen a lot of them since 1956, when I was 7.
I actually love her tattoos...I'm sure you see I have one on my arm 😉 But, honestly, if I could go back I wouldn't have gotten any of them. Do you mean the tattoos on her arms? I only saw those in a couple other videos.

I'm old enough now that even tho I can appreciate the artwork, I would rather be unmarked. My eldest daughter, who is 25 in June, has a lot and I hate pretty much all of them.

@bennybuffylove I can't argue with you on that one. My daughter has them on her legs and arms and one on the bottom of her neck. She's a beautiful girl and it takes away from it. She had wanted to be a tattoo artist at one point. She's an AMAZING artist... she could do big things. I hate that she has all of that ink on her. It doesn't even "flow". It's just random black pieces.

Jukka has a very animated drumming style. This, unfortunately, likely contributed to his medical condition. During a test conducted, a sensor was strapped to Jukka's head that showed his movement was like being in multiple car accidents or like playing pro American football - for decades. He has some brain damage. At least he found another, safer position within the band and got to pick his replacement.
As for pronunciation, the J-as-Y sound is widespread and exists in Germanic based languages (which I'm not sure whether Finnish or Estonian are). Going back many centuries the J is derived from I (as in Jehova being spelled Iehova). Many German surnames flipped from using I to J as German evolved. Interesting note: Benjamin Franklin lobbied to simplify American English. For example, he wanted to eliminate C and use the S-sound where appropriate, and the K-sound where appropriate. He failed in his attempt. The US has (I think) five phonic sounds for the letter A, while the UK version of English has fewer. The various phonic sounds in US English total 44, while the phonic sounds in UK English total 39. For reasons we aren't clear on in research, this impacts dyslexia. Dyslexia is lower in countries where the phonic count is lower. In Italy, the phonic count is very low and dyslexia is very uncommon.
