These leagues make billions a month and share profits so when one team gets a new stadium and raises in value astronomically they all benefit in media bargaining profit and other profit shares that are billions every year individually and that not including ticket sales, merch other in market local sponsors advertisers, etc they make money. Oakland is STILL paying for Mt Davis from 1994, Corporations should build their own stadiums. They’re just taking advantage of regions where they know they have strong grasps on politicians pockets

I know this is highly unlikely, but it would be amazing if somehow the vacancy of the coliseum led to a new stadium there and solved the problem of how to bring a team back to Oakland (whether the A’s or expansion). As much as I like the idea of Howard Terminal, rebuilding at the coliseum would be much easier and cheaper and you could probably build a better facility and for less money than any other site.

@@aaronfindora3397 I don't remember all the details, but I believe that would have meant building a new stadium in the parking lot before tearing down the current one. It's a heck of a lot harder and has a lot more constraints, plus Fisher was a horrible business partner anyway. I'm just saying there's now a solution to the "transition problem" since there isn't a transition anymore, there's just a soon-to-be unused property. But of course nothing is going to be built without the assurances of a team coming. I realize it's highly unlikely!

Lack of assurances, decisions based on biases (Manfred and Fisher), voting against their bottom lines (29 owners), Vegas deal in jeopardy, and the most disgraceful and incompetent: moving a MLB franchise to a minor league park because they can't figure out a better way - and acting like it's some kind of triumph. I was super irritated at Vivek for undercutting Oakland. But after thinking about it, could it be possible he actually saves the A's from leaving Northern California? He just bought at least three more years for the A's to stay in their home market in Sacramento (I know its lot Oakland but Sac has a lot of A's fans...like me, I live in Sac). And in those three years the deal in Vegas could very well fall apart and I from what you report Casey, and Alan Snel, and Howard Stutz, and Ken Rosenthal report, it sounds like things are not going well in Vegas. And if things do fall apart in Vegas and John Fisher does sell the team, then Vivek will go down as the guy who actually saved the A's and kept them in their home market.

The executive council should step in and overrule Manfred/Fisher. Nothing more than 1 year lease in Sacramento should be approved without LV financing. MLB negotiators (sans Manfred) should reengage with Oakland on Fisher's behalf if financing still isn't settled, or a public vote takes place. The EC was smart enough to kill Tampa's Montreal move for half the year - they should kill this 3 year lease too. I know, not gonna happen.

    John Fisher-
He runs away because he can't build anything himself......he's a user of other people and other cities. If he didn't have mommy and daddy's money he would never be where he is today! Plus he really is a Giants fan anyway!
He ran away from his "legacy" project at Howard Terminal when realizing he was going to have to deliver!
He doesn't want to go to Vegas triple A stadium because Vegas would actually realize what a train wreck they actually were buying into. He wants to get the stadium going before they have buyers remorse!
But now he may again realize, he can't get Vegas done because he can't finance it cost effectively so the stop over in my Sacramento town! He didn't think about the 2025-2027 seasons when they told Oakland they were leaving, then he and Kaval had their "of, sh!t" moment of we screwed up ......not having an extension for those years and not even thinking about their CSNBC money from 25-27.
They do things without thinking of the consequences! .......(Laney College planing without talking to anyone at Laney College)!
So, now we are in Sacramento holdover market and trying to figure out the next step we are going to "stumble into"!
These two really are the dumb and dumber of baseball and Manfred is the third stooge enabling this "sh!t show" to happen. All of MLB other owners have cr@p on their names because of these three! Oakland Athletics

@@sweepingdenver Please be aware that any increase in the value of the team to Vegas or anywhere else is not free money flowing to Fisher simply by virtue of moving thr team. Any value increase comes at a huge cost, namely Fisher’s share of costs to construct a stadium. Sure Nevada gave him a $385M subsidybto build a stadium, but that still leaves Fisher on the hook for funding at least $1.1 billion in stadium construction costs (assuming the actual costs are not higher than $1.5B in costs that the A’s have been using, as if the actual costs have been definitively determined). If costs to. Uold the stadium are more than $1.5B, then Fishers share of construction costs would increase dollar-for-dollar. But assuming the stadium doesn’t cost more than $1.5B to build and Fisher’s share is $1.1B, that means the balue of the A’s would have to increase by $1.1B just to breakeven on the costs to build the stadium. All other relocation costs associated with playing in Sacramento for 3 years and relocating to Vegas only increases the required increase in the team’s value just to break even. Forbes estimates the A’s current value at just over $1B. The Baltimore Orioles just sold for $1.76B and there is no way the sh*t show A’s are worth morevthan the Orioles even with a new stadium in Vegas or anywhere else. So, please keep the significant costs involved in relocating when discussing any increase in team value from a relocation. If achieving value increases by relocating without any costs involved, every team would be relocating.

Oakland, the same city that wants to rename the airport to "San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport".

    • @dorothygale1104
      @dorothygale1104 6 місяців тому

The market in which the A’s play is not Oakland, but rather, the immediate market is Alameda County, which its farthest point from the Colesium is 20 miles and has a population of 1.5 million and has a median household income of $151,000. It is this demographic that landed the A’s with their $70M/year RSN contract despite the poor team performance. The greater market in which the A’s play is the East Bay with a population of 2.5 million and an average annual household income of $157,000.
Despite these favorable market demographics, unknowledgeable nitwits from outside California focus on a downtown Oakland area of a few square blocks to try to tar the entire market area. Well, even using crime statistics from the worst part of Oakland within that area of a few square blocks, Las Vegas crime statistics for that entire city are virtually identical to the crime statistics in the worst part of Oakland. Of course, the ignorant are not interested in facts, as the blather that fills their heads comes from propaganda outlets.
BTW, Lady, the Port of Oakland, not the city, owns and operates Oakland International Airport. The Port of Oakland is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners which has exclusive control and management of all Port assets. It is the Oakland Airport management, along with the Port of Oakland, who wants to change the name of the airport. But it doesn’t appear you are big on reading behind the headlines given that you are trying to use the airport name change as a negative when it is actually a positive. The reason behind the name change is due to access to San Francisco is significantly easier and shorter from Oakland Airport than it is from San Francisco Airport. So, the name change is to drive more air travel to Oakland Airport from those traveling to San Francisco so that travelers have an easier and shorter transfer into San Francisco. Of course, it is easier for unknowledgeable outsiders from fly-over areas to post nonsense about something they know nothing about.

If not, it doesn't matter what other media personalities have to say. The biggest question is: how does the MLBPA feel about the move, what tools do they have to stop it, and if they did, where would they like the A's to play from 2025 to 2027....? And by the way, Sheng Thao could have bought three more years at least for the A's to stay in Oakland. But her demanding $97 mil ensured the A's would skip town. That deal had zero chance of ever being agreed to by the A's. I mean, what the heck did she expect from John Fisher? Huge mistake on her part.

She lowered it to $60 but Sac was a done deal months ago. The A's have enjoyed cheap rent for years.

Hmmm... this reporter seems to be taking the move personally. The A's were already gone. Not a city in the country that would turn down mlb for three seasons min at no cost. Maybe toning down the screeching just a notch is a good idea.

It’s a lot of projection going on with this guy. He can’t figure out who he’s mad at.
