MLB needs to stop the bleeding before more people leave this wonderful game. You cannot have an owner show so much disrespect to its fanbase and hope things get better with a new ball park. This situation not only alienates the fans but also the players. Who would want to play for these clowns?

  • @paulstamp1150

    From the Nevada Independent:
"In the three most recent non-relocation agreements covering new ballparks in Miami (2009), Atlanta (2014), and Arlington, Texas, (2017) the teams agreed to no more than three “home” games in neutral sites per season."
Did the A's ever bring this possibility up during any of the financing presentations?

  • @videostevo

This is unfolding in a way that shows that the intention has been to plant The A's in Sacramento as the Giants, Ranadivé and Manfred want to get out of Oakland in any way they can. That will reward Fisher's friend Ranadivé while getting the A's out of direct competition with the Giants. This is especially egregious since the A's helped keep the Giants in SF in the early 90s. The A's belong in Oakland, period! Sell the team!

As someone who lived in Las Vegas for nearly 16 years and has lived in the Bay Area for over 12 years now and let me say that Casey’s right very few locals really like going to the Strip because it’s a nightmare to get to and get around. Also if the A’s cannot repay the bond then the taxpayers of Nevada and Clark County will be on the hook for what is left. That is a rotten deal for everyone who lives in Nevada. Plus if the A’s have to play at least 10% of there home games outside of the Las Vegas Area in order to rebuild their brand than that’s not a good sign.
If Las Vegas doesn’t work for whatever reason then what? Oakland is all but done, Sacramento is 50/50 at best and Salt Lake City and Portland, Oregon would probably prefer an expansion franchise with local ownership. Especially with the way the current A’s ownership acts.

I've been shaking my head since the news came out about the Ballers not being able to play a home game at the Coliseum. Why the hell did it matter to the A's? Are they serious? They're so busy wanting to high tail their path to Vegas, and didn't even bother putting in any effort to getting Howard Terminal ballpark built, which they had breached. Why even ask them? Are they kidding me? It should have been up to the City of Oakland, or Alameda County for the Ballers to ask. Not the stupid ownership of the A's. I can only imagine how the A's ownership tenure in Vegas will play out from here on out.

@@GravityFalloutPines I disagree. I know Sacramento thirsty AF for some MLB. But... Dude... If any franchise has been run like this Fisher clown has (purposely mind you) run the A's into the ground, it's a tough sell in ANY market. If you're honest, you'd agree. But maybe MLB thirst has overcome your ability to be rational. Look, it's a move that doesn't need to happen. There are buyers who've said they'd keep the team in Oakland (and run it like a real professional franchise should be run). MLB teams moving any cities should be a last, last, last resort. If NOBODY wanted to buy the team to keep there.
Sacramento and Las Vegas should get teams, but not like this.
And again appealing to you to be reasonable, if say a team was in Sacramento for OVER 50 years and then threatened to leave, you don't think Sacramento should at least be afforded the dignity of an opportunity to open to a buyer willing to prevent the move? Come on man. Don't play me.

City leadership is incompetent. The city (and county) dragging their feet on the approval process. Lawsuits by locals against every A's stadium proposal. The last two mayors thinking that insults directed towards A's ownership would get them to stay. I'm more angry at the Giants for not letting the A's move to San Jose, remembering that the A's ceded their San Jose territory to allow the Giants to stay in the Bay Area. Appreciate your concern. Although a few were loud and concerned about 8 games, as more realized 8 was a max, a cap, and that similar agreements were made with the Mariners in 2018 and Orioles last year, more spoke up in favor of the agreement. 8 may be negotiated down, and there might even be a cap lower the first few years. The games, likely international, will boost international tourism. The Stadium Authority CEO also said any losses from these games will be off-set by much higher non-baseball event projections than the conservative estimates provided last year. Also, many locals do go to the Strip regularly. T-Mobile, very close to the Strip, hosts Knight games with many locals attending. Some of us are extremely familiar with the events involving the team the past several years and are very confident about their success in Las Vegas.

The A''s have a great history and usually have had great players in every decade that I've been alive(almost 5). Oakland fans would support the team if they had reasonable chances of winning. This is common in a lot of markets, St.Louis, Kansas City, Pittsburg, and Vegas. 5 or 7 years of a team that doesn't win shit and trades their best players, it won't matter how nice the stadium is. The Raiders are all in and showing great support and that’s what will endear them to the community..The A’s are nowhere to be found showing how much they look forward to their new community…Fk the A’s stay in Sacramento, go to Salt Lake City ..Or best yet sell the team and stay in Oakland

  • @lmcc0072

Las Vegas taxpayers need to watch their wallets. The A’s ownership has been intentionally destroying their fan base for 20+ years. Even when they were successful with young players, they would immediately trade them when they hit their arbitration years or they wouldn’t re-sign them when they became free agents. Maybe the A’s might spend a little money on players so Las Vegas builds the stadium, but it’s almost a 100% guarantee that those “high dollar” players will be gone soon after the construction is completed. The A’s ownership is solely about making money and not winning. The Marlins did the exact same thing to their fans just a few years ago.

Nope, I don't see them moving to Vegas, they will either be forced to sell the team, or they will force the current ownership to move to Charles Schwab stadium in Omaha Nebraska and if they can turn it into an ugly multiplex bowl like stadium in order to get 35,000 spectators. And here is the kicker they will have to stay there at least 10 years or get hit with the flip tax

The Raiders also have a huge diaspora of fans all over California including SoCal from when they played in LA. So Vegas draws Raiders fans from there too. And football is completely different because they have only 8 home games a year to sell tickets for, the games are typically on the weekends, and during the Fall and Winter when the weather is better in Vegas. So they can count on Raiders and opposing team fans to travel to Vegas for the games.

This is in continuation of the previous comment, of me criticizing Casey.
I love all these odd comments of his.
Casey said “ the A’s don’t really want to be in Vegas.”
Of course I find that comment absolutely absurd!
Newsflash Casey: no one held a gun to Fisher’s head and told him, he must build in Vegas, or else.
John Fisher for whatever reason, chose Vegas, he wasn’t under no obligation.
    Another issue with Casey’s comments.
Casey is making such a huge deal of the A’s looking to play 8 home games out of Vegas.
Now I understand, Casey isn’t the only one crying about this, but truthfully the only ones I hear crying about this is reporters and journalists, especially ones from Oakland.
Frankly, I have yet to hear someone of importance complain about this issue.
I have yet to hear Steve Hill from the Vegas complain, he is someone of importance on that.
I have yet to hear Nev. Gov. Joe Lombardo complain about that.
If it were such a big deal, perhaps Lombardo would be against it.
I have yet to hear MLB or the Commissioner’s office complain on this.
I have yet to hear Bally’s complain about the A’s playing fewer games here.
Certainly if that was a tremendous issue, Bally’s wouldn’t be happy with the reduced revenue on their property.
My point I’m waiting to hear anyone other than Oakland bandwagoners complain about this.
