Meanwhile on PC your horse is falling through the ground. Very few developers actually take the time to refine their games. Nintendo and Blizzard are two companies that really understand that making the game is just the first step.

@@aresorum the Zonai Ruins that predate the Upheaval and are also seen in BOTW are in the Faron region, past the Great Bridge of Hylia!

All I could think about was Xenoblade. Now granted this game is probably not as big as Xenoblade was, but it's way bigger than an average Zelda game. I'm so excited to play this game.

What about Sleepy Hallow? You know where the Horse went in the Tree?
In Shadow of the Colossus, your horse tends to avoid small obstacles. She usually also attempts to dodge rocks and trees but she doesn't succeed all the time.

True, but besides that I can't really think of any. Dynasty Warriors was hard to play on a horse, at least when I played it as a kid. Assassin's Creed was nightmarish riding a horse through the forest. Skyrim the horses can climb mountains. I guess that's sort of like avoiding trees. :p
I got past that ice barrier thing in High Hrothgar using a horse. It took about an hour and at least 20 deaths, but I sequence broke like a boss. I got some pretty neat ores really early.
Also, I forgot to mention that in Shadow of the Colossus, your horse avoids ledges by herself. You can try to run her off a cliff but she'll probably reject you and turn toward a safer place.

it's incredible to see this version and how despite all the visual and mechanical differences from the finished version of the game, the heart and soul still remains.

When they showcase BotTW 2 you can safely assume we're 3 years away from getting a release.
@Caden Muttillo The problem is BoTW 2 is not just an expansion pack and Zelda is their most prestigious franchise. Look at Mario Galaxy 2 which was intended to be sort of like a DLC/expansion of Galaxy 1. It was released 3 years after it was announced.
Nintendo, being more picky with Zelda and add up the delay the pandemic caused plus the slower pace they are working at due Covid as well. I'd say it'd take Nintendo about 4 years to develop and fully polish the game. It was announced in 2019 so probably 2022.
Even though there is a pandemic, three years is a long time for a video game that already has a base. I’m predicting that something crazy is going on behind the scenes and that a lot of the base of this game is going to be different

I'm just excited for a trailer and if it takes four years so be it.

Thats true!:) Its the lack of content in Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword that concernes me the most.. those worlds where a lot smaller, and had very little truly rewarding content.. have they learned their lesson? I dont know, as you say, from what we have seen this far, we cant draw any conclusions! Still, Im a bit concerned though!:)
***** On the old GC/Wii hardware to get the graphics we got for those games (_and I would even add OOT and WW to the list honestly_) it was basically impossible to fill the overworld with many details - especially considering that combat, characters and dungeons are the focus of the series. It's not like Nintendo wasn't aware of this problem, it just happens that they couldn't do much about it... Majoras Mask was different only because the world itself was fairly small in comparison to the other installments!
This new entry however has a completely new approach, more horse powers to utilize and as such a richer Hyrule than ever before! Now we have to see what "kind of richness" Nintendo is aiming for. Interesting nature with a lot of animals? Something more action oriented with casual events against monsters? Many little secrets/side quests to discover? Let's wait and hope!^^

I'm frankly pretty happy we got what we got considering barely anyone got the Wii U version anyway. Less development time spent on a gamepad that barely anyone had the opportunity use and even less might have even preferred.

That's alright though. If Nintendo delays something you know that the game gets some extra polish and bug testing. And this is probably their biggest project yet. I rather wait a year longer for a good game than spending my money on an unfinished game.

Its crazy to remember me watching this in 2014 and then when the game came out remembering that "Horses don't run into trees" so I could let go of the stick when going through forests. I retained that useless information for 3 years.

It's probably taking them less time since they're reusing a lot of the same world. But still sucks T_T
they made a decision to delay the game and release it with the Switch, otherwise it could have released sooner.
Make that somewhere in 2022 now. So I expect to play this around late 2023 at its earliest.

After e3, this hits different.
They should've kept the map on the Wii U gamepad. It would've been a big improvement, versus constantly having to break the flow by going into the menus to update stamps/markers, etc.
they made it like that because the switch doesn't have a dual screen function like the wii u
Had they given the dock it's own Wi-Fi chip it actually would've been possible to have a dual screen, Air-Cast feature :S but at the same time they were saving R&D money since they were cutting it super close with bets on other parts of the Switch's tech
They didn't want the WiiU version to be superior to the Switch version. Simple as that.
Although I understand the reason of Nintendo for not keeping the map on the Wii U GamePad (since it would make the Wii U version the superior version), it would have been incredibly awesome like in Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD.
Before the game came out, i watched this video so many times, be it on youtube, the wii u e-shop, and even the 3ds e-shop. It was just so fun to look at how the game was going to be and hyping myself up. And it was also a really interesting way of the game to be presented, with Miyamoto and Aonuma playing the game and chatting. Hope they do something similar with BotW 2.

when they showed the entire map, it was so cool to compare it with the final map and see what changed. Like I could see the great plateau, gerudo desert, hyrule field and castle, hebra, rito village, akala, and necluda, but it looked like hateno village and kakariko village were gone, there was no rainforest in faron, and zora's domain was in a different location. It's so crazy to see how far this game has come

With the small amount of gameplay seen here, this game is going to be amazing! The open landscapes, the slo-mo vaulting off the horse, sweetspots on enemies... Man I can't wait for this game to come out!
Luckily we'll have Majora's Mask 3DS and the new Star Fox to hold us over!

Amazing to see how much they actually changed!! It was worth the wait for sure, replacing the tower design, map design, sound effects and battle theme were all good decisions.

Tbh I thibk at this point the game realy had proper dungeons planed, Bc he said it right as they passed two zonai statues (they prolly weren't called like thst back then, I guess they didn't have it all planed out back then) and in the first teaser trailer for what was go become botw link was chased by a guardian thru the feron region, passing zonai architecture, I ask myself how much they planed on doing with the feron region as in the final game it's bassicly just a huge teaser for the sequel, but I could imagine they initially wanted it in botw already

Too bad for you.. It will be a simultaneous release.. It's alright though you can still just get the Wii U version first and get the NX version later when you get the system. (You're not forced to buy them day one - or to buy both versions at all for that matter..)

Just like Twilight Princess , BOTW seemed to have a Magic Meter at some point in development but was taken out before the release of the game
May have been the stamina meter.
They should've had a documentary team filming this masterpiece behind the scenes from start to finish.

Star Wars VII is coming so... the Star Fox for the Wii U is the seven entry of the series,not in term of canon but because of Star Fox 2 (even it was canceled the game still exist)

After looking at what they showed at E3, it's pretty impressive how much this game has changed for the better. I'm actually kind of glad it got delayed. I just wish it would come out holiday of 2016 instead of early 2017.

It's interesting how the whole demo is around the feron region, u can even see the old(at this time prolly not named yet) zonai statues when they talked about there having to be a dungeon, I ask myself how far back did they plan all this zonai stuff, as the feron region in botw is bassicly without any story related missions, it's kinda just there to tease us
If you look closely at the map you can see that the Great Plateau literally didn't exist at that point. I think it's likely that back then the game was supposed to start around Hateno village and that Faron was gonna be one the first areas you explore.

@@greasi_nugi1967 Most people can't tell the difference. On the Switch, Botw has a 900p resolution, improved textures, better frame rate and higher quality environmental sounds. Both versions are different.
@@medalgearsalad1419 from someone who played the full game two times on both the WiiU and the Switch... no difference at all. What's noticably better about the Switch version is the portability, which is why I bought it again on the system. Not different at all, apart from that.
Tbh I really wish I could somehow go back and play this game as it was then! I'm sure there would have been a lot of cut content or things that were drastically changed such as those mysterious statues in the forest! Plus when Miyamoto says "We must be near a dungeon" when they're in the middle of a clearish forest I wonder if they still planned the inclusion of the divine beasts at that point
I'm surprised how similar the map is to the final one. The spiral, the banana-shape-thing at lurein, the tingle islands (forgot there proper names), eventide, or the rock pillar (I guess) at hateno is still there - yet stuff like skull lake, the forgotten temple, death mountain, the water around the twin peaks, and akala seems to be a lot steeper, the gerudo highlands and gerudo desert, or any mountains in general have remained there but are tweaked. Some stuff like flowerblight and the area around it seem to be untouched, yet the labyrinths are missing and the Zora area seems to be 100% redone. But when we go down to ground level (mainly the boko scene, but this probably applies to everything else too) it has all been reworked. I find this fascinating.
Same. Back in 2014-2016 I would obsess over every little detail we got about this game. I love comparing what the final product looks like compared to the beta ones. Although Nintendo has shown us a lot of beta concepts for breath of the wild, I would love to see screenshots of the world looked like in 2015
3 years later and this game became one of the best games of 2017

I still remember when I first saw this and how my jaw hit the floor when I saw the scale of the map. I couldn't believe how enormous Hyrule was going to be.
I'm now playing BOTW for the third time and I'm STILL discovering new things even now.

Playing though a game withou significant story for the third time? I'm having a hard time finishing it for the first time currently. It's basically just walk here and there and collect x and kill y. Nothing which keeps me involved for a longer time or makes me want to progress
@@duracotton botw was way better when it first came out, it might seem boring now since how many open world games have came out since.
@@beeshie7763 well I'd didn't play any open world game since botw's release besides Witcher 3 (released 2 years before botw). So my critics are not really coming from a rich experience of (newer) open world games.
you can jump of your horse, and shoot an enemy in the face in slow motion... and I thought that was just a cinematic trick in the trailer... Nintendo... You're amazing.
And now to see if that means you can jump at any time.

This game has changed so much from when it is was then compared to now. Though I wish we could block with the shield on the horse like it showed here. Maybe some elements from this early build could be implemented into the next BOTW game.
