Just want to put this out on the inter-webs.....A huge thank you to Nintendo and the developers of this game. This has far surpassed any expectations I had prior to starting. I'm 20 hours or so in the game thus far. Without making this post too long, let me just say this is the best video game experience I have ever had. I received the original NES after my first day of Kindergarten as long as I didn't cry (Mom trying to bribe me, she was the one crying...FYI).....today, I think I may actually cry at how good this game is and how this somehow reminds me of my childhood. So thank you Nintendo and thank you to the developers!!!
I really wanted to do him a handshake when he talk about the language and how important it is for everyone to understand the game. Thanks so much for having that thinking
Yes! It so very helpful to have this feature on the switch, my sister and I always change the language setting to have some fun and learn some words :D
Simply an amazing experience. My daughter and I played this game for days on end upon its release. Not gonna lie. When the game opens and you walk out of the cave. I get chills.
I still notice new details showing the incredible devotion of the creators. The other day I realized that the stump of a tree looks different depending on if you cut it down with a blade or blow it up with a bomb. So much respect for these people!
i started playing this game when I got my switch when I was seven. I love this game more than any game I've ever played. I finished it in master mode too. I am now nearly nine and love it still the most. Thanks for such a great game :)
That was so informative. As an IT developer, it was interesting to learn about their approach to game programming from concept to product delivery. Thans for sharing.
yeah and so much care and thought from the developers to make their audience think and feel in all aspects- sight, ambiance, sound, it’s incredible... also yeah, WHAT competition? 😜
I honestly learned a lot of English from playing Zelda as a child. Yes, my mother had to translate often at first, but I learned this foreign language really fast because I loved the game so much and mastering English had a purpose.
Wow, same. I especially love Majora Mask and replayed it many times. I was so happy when with each playthrough, I could understand more and more of what is being said.
As a Zelda Maker, no less. Think about that, it would be downright a phenomenon, they wouldn't be able to make Switch consoles fast enough to keep up with the demand if a game like that existed.
Steel Tarkus Or imagine a Mario Maker where you could choose from a bunch of different games with all their physcis intact and do crazy things with. I think a Zelda Maker wouldn't work quite as well as Mario Maker simply because making actual dungeons/puzzles would be far too complex for the average guy to mess around with. Far too many MM stages are terrible. Imagine getting a terrible Zelda dungeon...blergh
MARIO KART MAKER! MARIO... *FREAKING* ... KART MAKER! BEST game idea EVER! Build your own race courses! Yes, Nintendo would have to make it easy to select certain track pieces, but imagine mixing elements like Bowser's Castle then flying over Luigi's Mansion, into Peaches castle for the last lap! You choose where the special items will be placed! Who ELSE think this is a BRILLIANT idea?
Or... just port/create sandboxes and creators for the switch so that people can make their own stuff, like Gmod almost, that'd be amazing, and allow the community to share their creations with the world, region freedom, and taking advantage of the engines
this completely blows my mind. how far have we come, when it comes to technology, that games of such high quality can be designed. just insane. can't even imagine the efforts made to make this amazing game
The art, music, variety in items, and especially physics in BotW is unbelievable. When they discussed the planning that went into the artwork of cutting down a tree, it really underlined the amount of hard work and attention to detail that went in to making this game the masterpiece that it is.
I’ve been playing this game for a year and I’m in love with it. I wish I could shake the hands of these men and congratulate them on creating the best game I’ve ever played (and I’ve been playing a lot for 30+ years). I love how you can still discover things. Like I’m not ashamed to say I didn’t know you could freeze those barrels and hit them!!
As an American 🇺🇸 I just wanted to say that I have been playing Zelda since the 1980’s when Zelda was in 2D. I love all of the Zelda games in the Zelda franchise. Thanks so much for making this video game. Zelda is my favorite of all time.
That moment in the beginning when you climb up to the top of the top of the ruined temple of time and those few piano notes slide in during the little cutscene that follows and shows you the darkness blanketing hyrule castle - I get chills every time. That was when I personally first knew that this game was genuinely something special.
A game that simply never gets old, as it feels so fresh and new even today, yet is also a classic and has already made history in the gaming industry. ❤
Playing Botw was like watching Hayao Miyazaki for the first time. You're constantly amazed how beautiful the environment is and the little things that makes the world seems so lively!
God, I love Japan so much. I swear, if I could be granted a wish to be able to speak, read, and write Japanese as fluently as a native, I would move there right now! Japan and the Japanese people are just friggin' awesome, and the boundless ingenuity, artistry, and creativity they've shown and produced throughout the years is just incredible, with the creation of Breath of the Wild being one of their (many) most amazing crowning achievements.
This game and Mario Odyssey were 2 games that had the same magic I felt when I was a little kid playing Wii Mario and Zelda games, which is something I never felt in games in a long time. So I can’t imagine how magical this experience is for kids growing up with it
It’s so inspiring that a team could come up with something so unique and creative. I’m really glad to have been alive to have seen such a great game come out. Can’t wait to see what they do for botw 2!
This game has become my favorite gaming experience and one of the greatest experiences I have had in general. It was motivating enough for me to have over 330 hours on it with 100% completion in master mode. Thank you Nintendo for the overbearing dedication put into this Zelda entry.
The thing is this is the longest I've waited for a game in my whole life and it was also on of the best ones I've ever played. Totally worth all waiting.
My favorite thing about BOTW that is commonly overlooked, is that combat is almost always an option. For a player like me who loves combat, i’m able to engage myself with as many enemies as i please. However, with a player like my mom who hates fighting, she’s able to avoid most enemies and focus on collecting items and exploring (which is her favorite part of the game). This game is truly beautiful and was clearly well thought-out and planned so that everyone, no matter age, race, or gender, can enjoy it in its entirety.
I'm completely glad to hear all about the making of this Legend of Zelda game and I've also learned from it like that. But if I want to make a top quality game like that then I better have to get a lot of practice and skill improvement for game development first but I also gotta avoid rushing development. Thanks a lot Miyamoto for making my childhood super awesome ever since Super Mario 64. Not to mention I've also grew up my childhood with Mario flash games too. *cough* Newgrounds *cough*

I’m learning Japanese right now. And finally playing BOTW for the first time (I’ve played almost every series title just never bought the latest consoles) never thought of switching to Japanese.. duh thank you Aonuma. Also the whole Jömon period thing makes me appreciate the whole futuristic aspect so much more, I’m such a fan of traditional Zelda that this game has been. Interesting. This helps me understand all the changes
I have never played any Zelda game before (I am 24 years old now) and I am planning to buy a Nintendo Switch this year just to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild. Watching reviews about this game and the production that actually made it makes me feel so excited. The level of freedom and creativity in this game are more than enough and the story/plot is pretty good. I am also going to get the BOTW 2 in the future. Watching the production team in this video inspired me that making games is also fun. I would like to make that a goal someday.
What they made really was a masterpiece. I just watched the 2/17/21 Direct (Pyra and Mythra, Splatoon 3, and more baybeeee!) and this was in the suggested. No matter how many times I complete this game or even when I 100%'d Age of Calamity, I still feel a great connection to the world and the way they presented it. I'm sure that whatever they have planned for the sequel is going to be great, and if multiple delays can make the original as great as it is, I'm sure the sequel will be even better.

So thank you Nintendo and thank you to the developers!!!
lol that bribery trick is the reason I got my Wii U this year and BotW (idc what you think about the Wii U its a good console XD)
are you enjoying Tears of the Kingdom? (no spoilers pls)
also if you haven't come to Jesus he's the only one that can fully satisfy you :)))
No game touches my heart, piques my imagination, makes me nostalgic, or gets me as excited as a Zelda game. Thank you Nintendo.
I feel the same, friend
Bought it two weeks ago, smiling as i watch these videos...i can finally play/experience BREATH OF THE WILD world
How's it going so far?
Wait, this game was made by humans? I thought it was a gift from Goddess Hylia herself.

i started playing this game when I got my switch when I was seven. I love this game more than any game I've ever played. I finished it in master mode too. I am now nearly nine and love it still the most. Thanks for such a great game :)
Wooo well done, amazing.
you must be 12 now right!
Holy crap teach me ur ways child
That was so informative. As an IT developer, it was interesting to learn about their approach to game programming from concept to product delivery. Thans for sharing.
This game is amazing
Alex Gil Gutierrez Bought Switch couple of days ago and I have to agree with you.
I've always wondered...how would the Wild's Breath smell?
Why do I wonder these things?!
you're asking the huggbees questions now.
No clue what this "huggbees" is, but I think I'll say I'm glad that I don't...
Already did it. This is me commenting from the grave.
DrKendoCommentaries lol
The breath of the wild smells like roasted apples, because those are a thing now.
I always like these kind of games where you can just go free roaming around the landscapes and explore.
Like Cyberpunk?
It’s called open world
one thing Nintendo games will always have over the competition: NOSTALGIA
What competition?
Andre Marcello was
yeah and so much care and thought from the developers to make their audience think and feel in all aspects- sight, ambiance, sound, it’s incredible...
also yeah, WHAT competition? 😜
Microsoft:I have Minecraft
@@2001CuisinartToasterr Nintendo: I have games that have started in the 1980s and are still going today.
Release the 2D Zelda Prototype
I'd pay $10 for it :)
i'd pay 20
Samuel where ???
but you'd have to pay 50$
I'd pay $50.99
I wannnntttttt to watch an hour long documentary of this with the sequel too
Hands down the most beautiful game I have ever played. Much respect to everyone who was involved in the creation of Zelda BOTW💯💯
*oh god my tears are ready to shed for the sequel again*
After today’s trailer, even more tears flowed, can’t wait!
*Same*
2:55 interesting to note that some incarnation of this concept art is certainly in BOTW2
Came here to say this!! It was so cool seeing this in retrospect
Yeah!
Should have the 2d version as unlockable content when you finish the game
Yeah like a mini game on the slate
Now make this but with Samus and a sci-fi universe. Would buy.
YES YES
I'm sure they have a main Metroid title in the works. It's been a while since Prime 3. (2007)
I can see this engine work on so many other games. Revolutionary.
Metroid Prime 4 is being developed.
GunpowderCoffee Story driven and after Metroid Fusion
Now we need The Making of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom
Yeah it should have been yesterday because it was 11 days after TOTK released and this video was 11 days after BOTW released
100%
I honestly learned a lot of English from playing Zelda as a child.
Yes, my mother had to translate often at first, but I learned this foreign language really fast because I loved the game so much and mastering English had a purpose.
Wow, same. I especially love Majora Mask and replayed it many times. I was so happy when with each playthrough, I could understand more and more of what is being said.
no really, they should sell that 2D Zelda prototype on the switch.
As well as add elements from other games, you'd just have to download the resources
this completely blows my mind. how far have we come, when it comes to technology, that games of such high quality can be designed. just insane. can't even imagine the efforts made to make this amazing game
The art, music, variety in items, and especially physics in BotW is unbelievable. When they discussed the planning that went into the artwork of cutting down a tree, it really underlined the amount of hard work and attention to detail that went in to making this game the masterpiece that it is.
One of the best games . I am a big fan of Zelda breath of the wild . Thank you so much for this game. All your hard work has paid off
I’ve been playing this game for a year and I’m in love with it.
"Aliens abducting cattle" hmm... reminds me of Majoras Mask
Playing Botw was like watching Hayao Miyazaki for the first time. You're constantly amazed how beautiful the environment is and the little things that makes the world seems so lively!

DeZrawlitz I hope it comes out soon tbh! I just got into Zelda two months ago, so my switch is on the way 😂😂
Masterpiece. Thank you gentlemen.
What wonderful, creative and kind-looking creators. Thank you so much for making this immensely wonderful game!
Link having an ancient mechanical shapeshifting hand would have been AWESOME
BigChap J Link already triggers lady boners. And man boners.
Samu Rönkkö this isn't Samurai Jack
maybe now that Nintendo sees its ok to switch things up and give us new things in zelda, they will give more control to the younger people.
The Gamer Dragon agreed!
The Gamer Dragon Yes but not too much. That alien invasion nonsense needs to be kept in check.
What a time to be a gamer. I would have loved having such making of when I was a kid
This game and Mario Odyssey were 2 games that had the same magic I felt when I was a little kid playing Wii Mario and Zelda games, which is something I never felt in games in a long time. So I can’t imagine how magical this experience is for kids growing up with it
Imagine every last one of the 900 koroks would have a different name
NO NO NO NO
it would be announced in 2025

Just stop with this comment it has been copied into extinction
I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video. It just makes me so happy.
It’s so inspiring that a team could come up with something so unique and creative. I’m really glad to have been alive to have seen such a great game come out. Can’t wait to see what they do for botw 2!
このゲームを誕生させて頂き、本当ありがとうございます…もう、冗談抜きに、本当最高です…感謝しかないです…存在してくれて本当ありがとうございます。
KoishiWii8 Yeah, as much as Nintendo defines the childhood of many such as myself, Newgrounds was among others *the* shize, my Koishi-appreciating homie.
すごく感動しました!発売からもうすぐ4年目になりましたがその感動がまだまだ止まらない😭
I'm glad that they're taking so long to make breath of the wild 2, would rather wait for a near-perfect product than a complete mess on launch.
cough, cough, cyberpunk....
@@adamking5215 oop
@@adamking5215 "Welcome to next generation of open world adventure"
Yeah, right..
It's Nintendo's policy not to rush a game and overwork their employees. ....Which kinda ironic consider how toxic the Japanese work culture is.
Cough cough Pokemon
This game is truly amazing. Everyone who had even a small part in the development of this game should be very proud of themselves. 👏 👏 👏 👏
Thank you for making the greatest game in history! You are all geniuses. Such an enchanting world that I can get lost in for years and years and years. You truly out did yourselves.
They really outdone themselves with the open world mechanics on this one, amazing game.
Thank you for making this masterpiece.
This game was reason enough for me to buy the switch in the first place, it has such a vast world, just when you think your done there is more to explore, it's been a while since I got so into a game.
This game is the G.O.A.T
baaaahhhh ;)
SupaPixelGirl No it is a dog
SupaPixelGirl dude you're like in every video I watch
Bryan senpai she likes the attention

I only bought a Switch Lite 3 weeks ago. This is the game I bought to go with it. I remember Ocarina of Time when it came out so it was a no brainer.
I absolutely love this game. I love open world games, my favourite. Highly recommended
Dear Developers: Thank you so much for this ❤️
Hey bro don't say such a warm thanks didn't you see what CDPR did with the Cyberpunk 2077 after we all went extremely soft towards them.
@@muzamilnabinadroo doesnt mean we cant thank developers for a great game. i mean, they worked so hard for near-perfection, the least we can do is thank em
Am I the only one who wants to play that 2D prototype Zelda game? That has potential to be a Zelda Maker!!
This is the 9th symphony from Nintendo. So perfect..any detail of character and graphic you will get feel you are inside it. What a masterpiece..
Greatest game of all time. Hands-down.
I'm a dog, and even I like Breath of the wild!
*pats head* good boy
sooo cute
thats because dogs are one of the very few animals that cant be killed for their meat in the game yet wolves are very killable for some reason.
you know what is dog backwards :O
Who's a good dog.
I just got a Switch 3 weeks ago and got this game and this video is showing me so many things you can do that I never thought of. Fantastic game design
Idk why but the Japanese language is so satisfying. It's on my bucket list to soon speak it almost fluently.
2 years on, have you got round to it yet?
You have some time to do it now :-)
喋れるようなりましたかー?

@Link weeb
Botw ruined other games for me. Like every other game feels unpolished and slow. It spoiled me.
Same for me but with hollow knight
@@ahzayoc1207 the silksong social experiment was annoying though
Well BotW is still super laggy in some parts and some enemies won’t load if you’re too far away, but I see where you’re coming from.
@Vulcan ooh lucky! My Wii U’s battery is busted and I can only play it for like 30 minutes. Korok Forest is the frame rate destroyer haha
considering it was my first real delve into the non-casual gaming community it set my standard too high
I’ve had so much fun with this game. I can’t wait until the sequel comes out!
This (and Terraria coming at a close second) gave me some of the most immersive and fulfilling gaming experiences out of anything I've played so far. Hyped for BOTW 2
This just showed up on my recommendation and I thought this was for the sequel and I clicked on it so fast to realize its from two years ago
The most perfect game. I hope the sequel is just as brilliant.
"... how to enter a house seamlessly"
Turned into Link pushing doors wide open like he owns the place. 😂 jokes aside, this was a really good game. Story could have been a little bit more fleshed out but I guess that energy was put literally everywhere else. Can't blame 'em.
They did a really good job, i love this game and i´m so happy evryone can enjoy it as much as me!
I’ve played this game so many times and never watched this docu series. It’s time to do so!
Forget GOTY. This is GOTD (Game of the Decade)
GOTC (Game of the Century)
Game of the day
Ya huh no
More like GOTM (Game of the Millennium
I couldn't decide between this and The Last Of Us. They are the two games that changed my perspective forever on video games in general.
I'm sure that whatever they have planned for the sequel is going to be great, and if multiple delays can make the original as great as it is, I'm sure the sequel will be even better.
i really enjoyed these types of videos, I still hope they do the same with totk
The amount of care and detail in this game is astounding.
2:55 it's cool how they're using this idea in botw 2 now.
Ikr, I wanted to say that too.
This(as a younger gamer) is the greatest video game I've player in a long time. The passion and time that they put into this game really does show.
