@@gundomatumba191 for me it was never the Bruce vs Chuck fight. It was that scene in the alley where he's demonstrating the speed & power of his kicks & the rest of the guy's are positively dumbfounded!
IMO it is the greatest fight scene in history. Yes, there are fight scenes that are better choreographed, more blood, more action, more acrobats, more realistic, etc. But IMO that fight scene is, and shall forever remain, the most iconic. The location was also very important. They were fighting at the Colosseum and they fought to the death, so there was a sort of "gladiator" meaning to it. Having those 2 legends face each other, and in that location....I don't think we'll ever see another scene like it. (and if memory serves me, I don't think they said a word to each other) Such a great scene.
Lee may not have fought in the ring and that was most likely out of humility and honor. Norris admitted in another video long before most he's in commenting after Bruce's passing he said I e=was no match for Bruce. Both great men and martial artists and both humble.
It's a damn shame that Bruce Lee passed away so young, at only age 32. Had Bruce lived on, I'm sure that Chuck and Bruce would have made many more motion picture classics together, not just in the fight genre, but in other types of movies as well.
I agree. I think Bruce would have made the first, "Expendables" like ensemble piece, with top US actor fighters, (Norris, Jim Kelly, Bob Wall, Benny Urquidez, Bill Superfoot Wallace, Don the Dragon Wilson) etc, then top Japanese fighter/actors (Sonny Chiba, Toshiro Mifune) etc Hong Kong fighters (Jackie Chan, Hwang Jan Lee, Gordon Liu)....just.....try.....to.....imagine....that.......
Even if you're surrended by 100 men, it's still 1 against 4 until you fall. For a trained fighter who can beat a man with one well placed punch or kick, taking down the 3 first is possible but the best way is still taking down the leader first to get a bit a self-satisfaction before playing the turtle..
they made real contact, Bruce was known for that type of controlled choreographed contact fighting, nothing to the nose or eyes but generally everything was open.
Chuck lives about 15 minutes from me in a little town called Navasota, TX. About 15 years ago a friend of a friend had kids that played tee ball with Chuck's kids. He said Chuck volunteered to coach even though he knew nothing about baseball. He ended up being the bat boy for the team which lead to lots of "our bat boy can kick your coach's ass" jokes. The team party ended up at his ranch which the kids (and dads) loved. Everyone I've ever known that knows him says he's a really good guy.

If you are respected by Bruce Lee for your fighting abilities and proficiency at martial arts, as such that's an accomplishment in itself but then he rings you up and asks you to come to his place to do a movie with him, that defies comprehension. Chuck Norris is always seeking to put Bruce Lee down.If you listen to him carefully, you realise that he is trying to paint himself as better than Bruce Lee.He does this all the time.Bruce is not around to defend himself. If Bruce was still alive I'm sure Chuck Norris would have a different tone. There are people who say they witnessed Bruce sparring with Chuck Norris, and they say Norris was not able to touch Bruce.Bruce actually elevated Chuck's carrier by getting him involved in his movie. If anything,Chuck Norris should be appreciating Bruce, instead of constantly seeking to put him down.
Yes Bruce NEVER FIGHT in the ring - that's what Norris said. "He trained himself to be a street fighter with no rules or weight limit..big difference. " ...and... One simple reason why that fight is classic and still holds up. It was filmed like a REAL fight. No overused of BS special affects, no over the top choreographed unbelievable fighting moves. Just like that fist fight scene in John Carpenter's They Live (1988) is considered an all time classic fight scene.
I thought it was a fever dream, but no there is this one episode of Walker Texas Ranger. The locals are complaining about a Sasquatch and they send Walker into the wilderness to deal with it. During his journey he fights a grizzly bear and earns it's respect.... HE EARNS THE BEAR'S RESPECT. Later when he is kickboxing Sasquatch in a cave he starts to loose the fight and the bear comes to the rescue. After the Sasquatch is killed the camera switches back and fourth between the roaring bear and Walker staring. Now the bear has earned Chuck Norris's respect. Wild stuff
Bruce's books and philosophy on existence and martial arts alone are probably some of his best work. Also, I as a saber fencing instructor and medaled athlete, I appreciated that his books (and JKD) specifically borrowed the footwork from western fencing because he recognized its efficiency. He adopted it, and even fenced for at least a decade. That may have been the VERY best thing about Bruce. He was the true "first MMA fighter". But he died too early.

Bruce Lee only practiced kicking and punching bags. He didn't have experience in the ring. He should've practiced what he preached...bags don't hit back. He was more of a philosophical martial artist. He could easily beat a thug in the street, nothing more.
Bruce only kicked bags. He was a teacher and theoretical martial artist. He was not a professional fighter. Not to say he couldn't beat anybody. Surely he could beat a street punk. His style, being a mix of classic Chinese martial arts and his own adaptations to it was totally different from CN’s stand and deliver karate style. I think Bruce could have won a fight with Chuck.
Don't be ridiculous. The people he's saprring with are his students, and they tag him several times during the fight (which kind of disproves the myth that Bruce Lee was superhumanly fast and untouchable). Chuck Norris likely forgot more about distance management and timing in the space of an afternoon than Bruce Lee ever even learned clowning around with his students. There is NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER that he could defeat Chuck Norris in a fight. Chuck Norris was a judo black belt; he wouldn't even need to outstrike him ,he would just toss him to the ground and bend him into unusual shapes and there isn't a thing Bruce Lee could do about it. However, Chuck Norris has CONSISTENTLY stated when directly asked which of them would win in a fight that Bruce Lee was not a fighter. Chuck Norris actually was. It would not be a fair contest. However, let's just pretend for a moment that you are correct and that Chuck Norris actually WAS Bruce Lee's student. Mike Tyson was Cus D'amato's student. Do you think for one second that Cus would defeat Mike Tyson in a fight? It's actually the norm for a martial arts teacher to have students who are better fighters than they are. Outside, that is, of Chinese martial arts, which are more of a religious cult than a fighting discipline. If you don't have students that are better fighters than you, then you're a rubbish teacher.
He wouldn't have dared to even suggest that if Bruce was alive. Weellll....Chuck has never said he could beat Bruce, but it is irratating when someone asks the question who would win and Chuck just has to bring up he was the karate champion of the world and Bruce was an amature. Like he is trying to hint that it wouldn't be a fair fight. Yet, Bruce being a street fighter and let's throw away the tournament rules and he is right it wouldn't be fair. Because then there would be no referee or rules for poor Chuck to follow. People in the comment section talk about how humble Chuck is and he seems very nice in this interview, until he gets to the point where Conan asks the question who would win, Chuck could have simply said that he an Bruce never went there. That's no joke, Bruce may have been good but your deluding yourself and dont understand fighting if you really believe just because he was a good martial artist who looked good on camera he could have been a high level fighter. Like Chuck says - world of difference. Yes, Chuck does owe a lot of his success to Bruce Lee breaking the ground in martial arts movies. But that doesnt make Bruce the better actual fighter - he wasnt. Winning street fights is meaningless. Lots of guys can win street fights, that makes them pretty tough and ok at real fighting. Most of those guys would get decimated in fair competition (whether points or full contact or whatever level) by real competition fighters of a high level.
@@poocrayon4588 not making excuses for anybody here. And not a fanboy either. Actually Bruce's drug habits was his downfall and is a bad thing that others should not emulate. He has a hot temper when he should stay calm. I look at what others around him has said. What you said make yourself look like a Chuck fanboy. We will never know who will win an actual fight because it never happened! And yourself being the fanboy can't say Chuck will win. It was Jim Kelley who hinted that Chuck and others couldn't touch Bruce in sparring. How much do you know about MMA, history or martial arts and read enough books? I pretty much can guarantee that you didn't read or watch as much as I did over the years. Bruce was smart enough to carry a gun sometimes because I don't care how good your martial arts is, you will always lose to a bullet. Ask a gangbanger why he carries a gun. Why wars are won with guns and weapons. Yes, Chuck looked good in the movies also. He had speed and power. But it's also true that there's a little bit of jealousy that Bruce is more recognized than Chuck. If you know the history between the two, then you will know why...but I'll let you do the research and find out for yourself what kind of history there was between Bruce and Chuck besides the public images.
Norris seems to suggest that they never sparred because he was a world champion so Bruce would not have been able to handle him. Everyone knows the reverse is true.
It's amazing just how much of a mystique there still is around both Lee and Norris. Legendary in their respective spheres. But Lee in particular has garnered the reputation of being a good fighter, just from his physical prowess alone. I would still put my money on an experienced fighter (like Norris) over Lee, in a real match, but it really doesn't matter, even when he was alive he accomplished enough to never have to justify his legendary status.
Norris and VanDamme are the only Hollywood actors that I can think of actually had a fight record. Seagal ran his father-in-law's dojo but I'm not sure he ever got in the ring.
But Chuck Norris has never actually been a real fight. He merely competed in the sport of his time that was nothing like it is today. They would just score a point, reset, score a point... On the other hand, you have Bruce Lee who grew up fighting on the streets and then transitioned into fighting any other martial artists who challenged him as an adult, no ref, no points.
@@KittyBoom360 Indeed, Bruce Lee was in some street gangs as a teenager, but from childhood -- and after his teenage years -- he was in movies and entertainment. So I don't think it's just cut and dried that he was an "experienced and skillful street fighter". So I confess that I'm not positive who would win in an actual fight or match, only that I lean towards Norris who has specific experience in matches as an adult.
@@jergarmar Yeah, I agree that Chuck might win in a sport events from his time governed by the rules of his typical events that he knows best, maybe, given that's what Chuck trained for. I would just put my money on Bruce in a real fight, given that's what he trained for and had way more experience in.
You have to realize even Chuck Norris one time he said he hasn't fight nobody except in Point tournaments and Movies and he said he is a Professional Fighter So You tell me what Do you Call Fighting on Top of Buildings for Real Because Bruce Lee Did That????🤔😤🤔
If you've ever fought competitively or had to use your training to defend yourself, then what Chuck says here about fighting in the ring versus hitting a bag, you'll understand it differently. When you compete, or are in a situation where someone is trying to hurt you, you don't hold back.
Fighting in a ring is nothing compared to fighting for your life, or fighting all of your life. Hitting a bag, training in a dojo, fighting in matches, etc, it's all just preparing for the moment when someone is really trying to hurt you, which hopefully never happens.
Chuck only took part and won in no-touch tournaments, where you LOSE points if you hit your opponent for real, similar to Olympics Tae Kwon Do, when you can win the Gold Medal because your opponent hit you for real , knocked you out, and get disqualified, like what happened in recent Olympics.
Bruce Lee grew up fighting for real in gangs and the streets. And as an adult, he was constantly challenged for claiming to be the best, and so had to fight for real without rules. So he actually fought a lot. Chuck is just promoting himself here and actually contradicting stuff he said in other interviews about Bruce being his teacher.
@Raymond Weiss he was NEVER a champion of any full contact karate competition, you are so wrong, Chuck Norris himself only said he can adapt IF he participates in full contact competition like MMA when questioned if he can compete in full contact MMA like competition, it's on UA-cam so it can be verified, so Norris is never champion in any full contact competition. No doubt all the martial artists in his days did test each other full contact in private, but not in any competition/tournaments that the public can see.
Dude I love Bruce too but Chuck would take him out . He's a champion fighter . Yes he can fight good but not against a professional like Chuck Norris. His skills are far more skilled . Bruce is fast but Chuck is fast too and alot stronger . And very precise how to take you out
Well Bruce was a King of Martial Artist and still i cannot see a single martial artist to even come close to him ! but there are some good fighters but none like Bruce Lee he was completely different from all !
Bruce Lee was an actor, not a fighter. Any professional fighter of any weight class would absolutely crush him. He had no fighting experience worth speaking of. The majority of modern amateurs would crush him too, because martial arts have moved on significantly since his day. Stop deifying Bruce Lee into something he wasn't. He had exactly zero fights against trained fighters.
@@seraphinaaizen6278 Well Should i laugh on ur face ?? nothing more to say coz u know nothing and its useless to argue with someone who dosent know anything about that legend !
Chuck is actually quite arrogant when it comes to Bruce Lee. I mean he was a point Karate champ and he carries that like the greatest thing ever. Joe Lewis and Benny were full contact fighters and even they acknowledged how great a fighter Bruce was. Specially Joe Lewis. Even Jim Kelly stated that he knew who Bruce Lee beat but out of respect he never told anyone.
@One Quick Thing I’m not saying Bruce Lee was the toughest guy ever but he was not only a practitioner of Kung Fu. He studied so much but in all honesty Chucks ego is quite poor when it comes to Bruce Lee. Firstly, it was his role in Way of the Dragon that got him his break and gifted him the stardom recognition. Personally I do believe Lee would be too strong for Chuck in reality as Joe Lewis speaks extremely highly of his ability which for most people carries more weight than Chucks.
Yes, no real test of power and ability to take punishment like in street fight or full contact/mma. Chuck Norris was world karate Champion only in point fighting, where no real contact is allowed and you LOSE POINTS if you hit your opponent for real, similar to Tae Kwon Do in the Olympics, where you can WIN the Gold Medal because your opponent hit you for real, knocked you out and got disqualified, if you recall in the recent Olympics.
@One Quick Thing 1. Styles don't matter, individuals do. 2. Bruce Lee studied Wing Chun Kung Fu as only 1 of many martial arts he studied. 3. He sparred with the hands of a western boxer mixed with a power side facing forward fencing stance. If you're going to say such things at least know what you're talking about.
I think he had to drop that he was world champion to explain why Bruce chose him for the movie. After that he repeated yes, but.. initial reason to mention had merit. Cause why else would Bruce have chosen him at that time?
There is a big difference between fighting in a ring in a professional fight . And fighting with no rules at all outside a ring . And with the speed of Bruce and his accuracy . Fighting Bruce Lee would not be a long draw out fight . A thumb to the eye . A kick breaking a knee . Or a quick punch to the throat . And the fight is over . And Bruce had been in fights . Outside a ring . And did not lose .

And what would really be fun is if, in one of those movies, they were on the same side and fought the villains as a team.

He’s just calling it like it is, without hesitation, btw. If you think all Chuck did was point Karate…you have no clue of what you’re talking about.
Chuck Norris was by the way the World Karate Champion at the time he trained with the legendary Bruce Lee
I think he had to drop that he was world champion to explain why Bruce chose him for the movie. After that he repeated yes, but.. initial reason to mention had merit. Cause why else would Bruce have chosen him at that time?
@@randomupdates4013 What you might not know was Joe Lewis was Bruce's first pick to do Enter The Dragon as the main antagonist but Lewis refused.
@@wiseguymaybe way of the dragon not enter the dragon.
BRUCE TRAINED CHUCK NORRIS.BRUCE LEE WAS THE TRAINER!
@@erickaufmann4839 False.
Have you seen him fight?
@@GDCDGC Hey, did you see the American War for Independence? American doesn't exist, Bro. Pics or it didn't happen. All of history is written accounts. I guess you don't believe anything you can't watch on an iphone. If they make a documentary about the American War for Independence, did it happen then because then it's in video format and you don't have to hurt your head reading?
Where is the proof?? All these stories don't matter...
Bruce: "Boards don't hit back."
Me: "Neither do wooden dummies. "
Bruce Lee can't wait till Chuck Norris gets to the next life
He will be waiting a long time. Death is too scared to tell Chuck he died 30 years ago
@@cszmaxBruce told death that if he touches him he be the death of his name and duty there for Bruce Lee is just kicking back perfecting his fighting style and creating more so that next fight he end it quicker than the word ends from the referee's voice saying fight
Norris is about 55 here. Looks great.
Chuck remains the same, the earth gets older...
