Thank you for explaining this so so well! Seatbone, leg position, tracking.... you spell it out so clearly. It took me forever to get 10 walking strides of shoulder-in on my old man (21 years, gaited.. 6 gaits!) BUT we did it with your guidance, spelling it out step by step. You have a gift! I'm sure many horses appreciate you as much or more than their owners 😉
Haunches-in 4 track after establishing bend with a 3 track shoulder-in. Yay for setting up the half-pass. Get supple with leg yielding, then introduce the bend. Thanks Amelia
This is so helpful! I just started working on this using both of these methods but this just adds so much clarity. Thank you!! You have such a gift of communicating these tricky movements in a way that's easy to understand. This gives me confidence that I'm doing things correctly.
I find left haunches in harder on most of the horses .I have one horse,as soon as I change the bend from leg yield, gets very comfused. Thank you for the clearly explaned video.I think I will try better leg yielding and circles between.
OMDog!!! Haunches in was a fight for a year with my clunker! Her ribs are so sprung from foals, AND no one home in the caboose, it was so frustrating for both of us. Kept at it one or two steps at a time, out of a 10M circle and she now understands. I usually have to give her a light touch on the HQ with the whip and then she's like, Oh. You mean the HQ. LOL
My guy KNOWS haunches in. But the last two rides, as I ask for more, I get a canter depart! And I have no idea what I am doing wrong! All suggestions welcome. (and it seems to involve my inside leg NOT my outside leg.....)
Hello Amelia, I am practicing already hece uans weeks the supports since the cessions to the step and the trot we already have them controlled, what happens to me with the supports is that I stop the horse feels confused stops and starts walking backwards, I do what you do in the video in both ways I know that it is slow to learn and difficult but I need some advice. Thank you.
@@AmeliaNewcombDressage When I do the exercise in the two ways you explain in your video it's like it gets confused and doesn't go forward and stops and goes backwards.

My vet recommended haunches in to improve my horses suppleness. you’ve made this comprehensible 😅 thank you!
Super good tip to do out of the circle!
I love both these exercises! I probably use the 10 meter circle more! It's just easier for me! Thanks for another great video!
Terrific tips and exercises AGAIN, thank you! Left is the harder side.

As I said before you are so clear and your videos are very helpful. Thank you so much!
You are truly a great teacher. Thank you.
Helpful approach!
The ABS on that horse 💪🏾💪🏾😍 thanks for the video !
Keep up the excellent work!
I can’t get through to getting my horse to do! Will try your leg yield tip!
Let me know how it goes!
Great explanation but I am still working on leg yields 😊
You'll be there before you know it!
You are a gift 💝 thank you

Be sure your seat stays in the motion of the current gait. That will help prevent the transition to canter :)
Super instructions - thanks ! Just a question - Can you do it at the rising trot ?
You could, but it would be much harder to use your seat to help with the aids
Thank you!
You're welcome

I have a warmblood called mossy i’m going to elementary do you have to put get the horses in in elementary level? Amelia
When and why would you start to introduce haunches in?
It comes in at second level and we use it as another tool to teach our horse to straighten.
