That being would be capable to create transcendent art that would enrapture and thrall any human soul. "AI" now is a misnomer. It is a complex pattern algorithm, a tool that lacks true reason. Weird to bash it for lack of soul when it lacks something so fundamental as thought.
Funny you should mention that... diagnosing diseases is exactly why they had to teach their programs art in the first place. And thanks to it, they've discovered a handful of new diseases. We actually need it to think out of the box to preform better. Making it do art also gives quick and easy confirmation of task completion.

The low poly farmer character is from an asset pack called "POLYGON Farm Pack" by Synty Store. It comes game engine ready for Unreal and Unity Engine. The character also comes with a hat but they apparently removed it.
Notice how any of the characters touch eachother. The "free" visual based motion capture programed they use only does one person at a time. That means they cannot do any complex motion like.."two characters hugging"
When Miyazaki said that he wasn't talking about generative AI. He was being a cynical bastard about a very simple algorithm being used to make a rigged model moving weird ways. He was specifically upset because it was presented as a way to make erratic movements for a monster in a movie, that is what specifically he was upset about. You are right though, The replacing of human art with machine learning is an insult to life itself.
if you were to replace the characters with humans NO MATTER WHAT RACE! it would be red light and LAUGHED out of the pitch room. the ending is "you arent a slave so k*ll yourself" IS INSANE
Having a male-coded robot be forced to experience birthing pains before being given a baby to take care of, with the flimsy excuse of having it be "necessary" for the bonding/caring process sounds like the writer had an oddly specific fetish they wanted to slip into the story
@Botzywatt well that's more in relation to if someone who is trans (female based but identifies ad a man) It's complicated, but like that's something that could happen. For a variety of reasons. Possibly reasons that aren't by choice, is what I'd assume?? Not entirely sure. That's ehat that kind of means to me when people say men can give birth. Usually just related to still biologically female people who identify as men
fr ngl it would be really funny if we just stopped acknowledging the ai 'artists' and whenever they do something we just pretend there's this one universal artifical intelligence just fucking around doing shit like a toddler and we're patronizing it while ignoring the human prompters
Fun fact, the brain makes a mother forget about how bad the pain of childbirth was, probably to have more kids. Soooo the whole robots feeling the pain for emotional attachment makes even less sense
Well no, that's not true in every case. There are plenty of women who remember everything, and a fair few of them have gotten legitimate PTSD over how agonizing it was. Considering how prevelant epidurals have been in recent decades, and how throughout history medical documentation was dictated by cis het white men (the geniuses who gave us such wonderful medical "knowledge" as "black people feel less pain than white people", maybe take "fun facts" like this about pain and physiology with a handful of salt.
That anime film is wild because you can actually pick out which artists the AI is stealing the animation from. The only "original" thing is the super janky looking lip flaps. XD
The mixing of anime styles was definitely jarring. You right that you can easily tell what anime the ai was referencing when you look at the characters. The "animation" makes it so much worse. The ai's attempt to draw mouth movement was so weird looking.
AI isn't good enough to do this yet. At best, you can get static 3d shots that pan or rotate, or a few seconds of decent-looking footage, but nothing too complicated. Give it 5 more years. Then you can actually use it as a tool instead of a crutch. You see a scene in your head. You dial it in with the AI animation. Tweak elements till it's what you want, then use vtube studio or something similar, and do the facial expressions yourself. So they look natural and make sense. AI is no different than the digital drawing pad, or the burnt stick. (Real art make with hand and mud!) But no one yelled at the burnt stick "hey! Make art for Oog. Bunny. Oog like bunny." Nah. Oog drew the bunny. You can use AI to create art, but you can't *have* AI create art. That's the issue. And we see so much, cuz everyone is trying to cash in with new tech. It's not about art. It's about money. That's why it's all so bad. There's no passion. Just choosing the least effort for the max profit.
I know exactly what that farmer model is from, because i've used it myself. It's called "Synty" and they're asset packs on the unity market place. They have an entire collection of low poly models that game devs can use as their projects.
Just saw your comment getting copied by a smex bot. I hope UA-cam has an automated system where if a newly made account (Like a few hours, days, weeks) gets deleted automatically if enough reports are made.
In the words of Skeletor: "Calling yourself an AI "artist" is like calling yourself a chef for heating readymade meals in a microwave. Until we meet again!"
Hey! That microwave is hard to figure out, okay! :P But I feel ya, it feels like the modern day equivalent of pressing the 'demo' buttons on a Casio keyboard as a kid and thinking you're creating the music. Or mashing buttons on an unplugged controller that your older brother gave you because you were begging him to play and thinking you're winning the game. Actually now that I'm looking it that way, people using generative AI and calling themselves 'artists' is REALLY sad. XD
@@AkumaWolf13 both good music and edible food don't work as a metaphor for machine learning art. If I can try: it's like watching someone make a collage and copying them without... fuck it this is too hard to make a proper metaphor. But I just feel like people's metaphors are lackluster too xD
Honestly, this movie would've still been bad even if actual people had animated it. Most AI animations are like this, the only people getting replaced are poor mid animators.
That "hologram" at 14:39 is DEFINITELY a store bought asset, I remember the game I Am Fish using the same models as placeholders for the human characters during beta/early access before they made their own human models, not to mention that mobile games seem to be infested with those models
9:37 might have to use those lines “I guess I’ll hop on a kangaroo and jump back into the dating game” and “you’ll have a lot of time to do that when you’re down under the weight of your breakup” FIRE 🥶
Exactly. Quality isn't free. They made sure they had only the BEST for that movie, and guess what? Everyone loves it! Its successful. You can't make a good movie without good people in on the project.
The problem is that AI bros think that they can replace talent with AI. They can get close to the graphics results of AI, but they cant replace the talent of a story teller, an animator, etc.
Not to mention people can tell if something sounds like soulless AI generated slop. Seriously, you’re THAT obsessed with profit to the point you replace your employees with a tin can filled with cogs?
AI generated text based media will always be more entertaining than AI generated video based media because your imagination fills it in in ways that aren't distracting. Harry Potter and the Portraite of What Looked Like a Large Pile of Ash is a peek example of this.
@@StoneWater13I would argue that even in that case, it's still not okay. He's not here to consent to his voice being used in that way, and it feels very disrespectful.
28:04 So you tell me... that a robot character, which was so far clearly child-coded... FEELS the pain of giving birth to a child... and it is played like a comedy?
No no, it’s actually ok because the robot was somehow (and for some reason) programmed to “age” so therefore in that scene, he was actually adult-coded… yeah, idk either
@@TheMarshmallowMushroom then how the "aging" works? So does it mean the robot will eventually "die"? Will it be endlessly "reborn", like a phoenix? Lmao, so many logical issues. Exactly how an independent adult human being wants to live, right? 🤣 Overcomplicated "Im14andthisisdeep" material.
Exactly, alot of people who have vaped tried using Fum too and outright said "this sucks" and just went back to vaping. That means kids who use this will use it and then say "wow, this sucks, i should vape instead"
@@chaoticcow4357 sometimes people will take to it and sometimes people won't. i don't really see why it's bad just because some people didn't like it. nor do i see how that results in kids using it? i feel if i kid got their hands on a fum, didn't like it, their first thought wouldn't be "i should try real vapes". and if it was, they were going to try vaping whether or not fum was on the market.
4:24 for ad skip. MAN these ads get more and more like infomercials everyday. Don't get me wrong, I do not blame the creators for taking sponsorships, NO ONE SHOULD, this is their job, and that's how they get paid, but it is funny how it all comes full circle. as a kid you'd sit down with a bowl of cereal and get infomercials, now we sit down with a bowl of ramen and get infomercials lol
Ya I have yt premium and I still get these ads built into the actual video. Smh such a waste of money. I can't wait for that ai sponsor skip feature or whatever
idk if this is just me but FÜM feels more like how lunchly is to lunchables, its advertised as a healthy alternative but isn't the concept just the same deal?, all its doing is getting people who've never vaped to start vaping. Not too sure about this but I'm curious what people think.
Essential oils are also toxic when in concentrated amounts. Unfortunately.. FUM uses concentrated amounts AND also encourages you to put essential oils in your lungs, which is REALLY not good. Oils don't belong in there. Whilst it might not be as bad as vapes or tobacco, its still bad. People have already started getting negative symptoms.
There's a channel called Shane McGillicuddy that does reviews of popular YT sponsorship companies. They did a review of FÜM two months ago and the conclusion was it was mostly just a stupid grift
yeah, as soon as i heard it it sounded way too good to be true, there had to be some kind of downside to it. obviously it wouldn't be a very good sponsor if they mentioned the downsides, but cigarette ads are required to do so, so idk why this should be different.
I'm not sure there's ANY inhalant that isn't terrible on your lungs. Even legitimate medicines that you inhale are carefully controlled because they can easily overwhelm your lungs. Regular campfire smoke will destroy your lungs. Smog from living in a city is bad on your lungs.
Almost everything that all the youtube creators you know are taking sponsorships from is actually terrible. With the exception of some of the meal kit stuff which is fine.

I'll interrupt your meltdown, but this movie had someone move around in motion capture suit and render stuff, which is still low effort, but it's not solely AI
AI being chosen to do the good parts of humanity (like graphic design and animation) rather than the bad parts (like general menial labor) is why I don't approve of AI use.
But that would not help people in capitalism. Robotics or A.I being used to replace menial jobs or artistic jobs, would still erase jobs, in a system where people need money to survive... only the end of capitalism can make sense with the evolution of machines.
@@JLT0087This is true. But I think it's sad that they've pivoted to "let's replace the humanity in arts altogether" instead of "let's make art more accessible so more people can express themselves". As seen with the Hooroo Jackson films, these people don't want to express themselves, they want the AI to do everything for them.
Gotta be honest, some of those night shots with four being shown in this video looked really cool to me. I love his design, and the camera tracking, lighting, and even movements were very interesting imo
And to add onto this, I miss when we all just laughed and pointed fingers at AI for how terrible and uncanny it looks. Just because now it looks "good" and "impressive", nobody is laughing anymore, even though the uncanniness didn't go away. AI is pretty much still the same as before in terms of how it works, just more "advanced" now. How did people change their opinions so fast? Just because it looks pretty?
"So how do we ensure the caretaker robot feels love for the child?" "We let them experience intense pain for no reason as they're being born." "Brilliant!"
This movie is advertised as "first fully ai generated movie" to gather funding but they say themselves: it isn't even. They used blender, ue5, different VFX tools... the motion capturing is AI (from recorded acting, so basically normal motion capturing but they didn't use suits, i suppose). I'm sure they had to make/buy most of the stuff themselves still. I'd say the robots are normal 3d models too, but they can't tell you that directly because it would burst the illusion of "it's FULLY ai generated", environment is surely ue5 asset packs galore in sometimes a very direct and pixelated way (you can see they didn't care about GOOD assets and correct texturing with high quality and large textures like you'd need for realistic stuff in films. It's smart UV unpack in blender with no regards for texel density), maybe some backgrounds are AI. Having the sand not react to any bodies on it is just lazy or cheap (since you can buy shaders for realistic sand that moves around easily), not to mention clipping through meshes. The texture of the robots too looks like "we need a new texture for it in 2h so make it in 15 min", that style could be great but it misses the mark for good character art SO MUCH. Also: Blender rock generator addon I CAN SEE YOU. Overall this movie is generated by not enough time, a lack of manpower, vision and artistic oversight. The studio proudly proclaims they work with small teams of 14 people in short time frames and instead of working on one movie with a larger team, they "vertical farm content". Its a perfect base for sloppy made stuff with all the errors you can find here, its not even the Ai thats THE problem here, its the whole mindset of cutting every corner they can. They make movies for cheap, use all tools that enable this cheap, fast work (AI, asset stores...), don't use them manpower they need (any art direction would have had a strong neg. opinion of the mixed art styles and light settings) and then they don't use the time they MAYBE save to actually make it good because they have to jump on the next project. Its a content farm basically, disguised as film studio.
The asset from 14:48 indeed comes from a third party named Synty. They make fine bundles of 3D models and animations. It's usually used in iterative work where the developer wants a visualization that's more attractive than grey boxes though, not in commercial products.
"Why would you give a robot sentience? It's a tool programmed to do a specific task. Robots are slaves to humanity! This movie makes no sense!!" Saberspark, have you ever played Detroit: Become Human? If not, I recommend you do because that game roughly covers this movie's exact plot. Sure the Droids in the game develop their sentience rather than be born with it, but the game perfectly portrays how we as humans should treat AI like us. Another great example is the Netflix Original Film, The Mitchell's vs. The machines. The villain of that story wouldn't have gone on a rampage had her creator treated her nicer instead of what he actually did which was treat her like the worthless, obsolete garbage he thought she now was due to him relying on the next greatest model of AI that he designed.
i love how vampire's verdict is a new art style for every character every other frame. like the shift from berserk manga, the retro magical girl anime/manga, the jojo manga, studio ghibli, and probably much more. it I so weird to see the art style shift from character to character. generative ai literally cannot make up it's mind on who it wants to steal from
A bit unrelated, but wasn't the entire point of AI and automation that it would take care of all the boring, but necessary work and free up time for people to pursue their interests and passions and express themselves? This is literally the opposite of what we envisioned in the past.
@@BottledPoedude what? No they don’t. We love animation why else would we choose to do it? Even if ai takes over the creative market I will still keep animating because I love it
AI what? Movie? AI cannot create movies, silly! It's just a bunch of pixels, not a movie! Movies are a form of art, and AI can't create art, only humans can!
@alexanderdavidlocarnogomez3441 but there's more to them than just pixels. There's something behind them: filming in real life or animating. Can't imagine an algorithm PHYSICALLY on a set. As for animation - it's probably just me, but if it's AI-made, then I cannot call it alive, which contradicts what animation is. It's just some generated out of thin air, with no thought, heart, soul behind them 1's and 0's that decide which lights and at what intensity to lit.
@@alexanderdavidlocarnogomez3441 as I said: it's just me. And I always have in mind the other meaning of the word: animate - bring to life. I like the definition from the Polish wiki, because it includes it: Animation - a film technique that involves creating the effect of bringing life to lifeless shapes by taking a series of individual photos of drawings, cutouts, puppets or silhouettes and displaying them continuously. (google translated cause I'm lazy, but it's more or less correct)
AI can be good if used right. Like maybe touching up the textures in games. Then have a human do finishing touches to make it look good. However AI cant replace talent. The story, gameplay, animation, etc should always be made by people. Again AI can be used for good but companies are totally going to exploit it to not have to pay actual atists
AI is really best used to do complex mathematical equations or biochemical medicine mixing, stuff that takes pure logic and rigid ratios that humans struggle with. Leave the creative works to the humans.
It's sad. My dad has started using ai as a filmmaker too. I've tried to explain to him how hurtful this can be but he just says "This is much cheaper and easier than hiring an actual animator!". It sucks :/
thanks for sponsoring fum my man, like it actually helped since I was actually looking for this website for ages xd since I needed to get my dad (who's a heavy smoker btw) something better which could also fix his anxiety (since he has got a tough and rather busy job what he does) and just to calm his nerves in general

The only reason this movie looks the way it does is because it uses assets other people made, the generated human clashes way too hard with everything else because it simply doesn't understand anything
When it comes to this guy's writing ability, I find it pretty telling that, considering their respective stances by the end of the film, Cru named himself - rather than sticking with the designation given to him by humans - and Number Four did not. I think the worst part about this movie is the lost potential. "Sentient robots sent to prepare a planet for humans to colonise, but they don't want to work for them." A brilliant premise, and a great art style too (in my opinion, I like psuedo-cell). But they could've exacted this any other way. Any way, other than using generative AI. If they didn't use AI for the movie, and marketed it as something other than "The FIRST AI MOVIE!", then I think it would've had a bit of a better reception.
A genius idea for the future would be to use the fact we make human art/books/movies as advertisments. Like you have a "human-made" seal on your creations to make it stand out from AI-generated slop
Detroit: Become Human style 😅 the game truly predicts the future. Funny thing is, the game makes huge majority of people stand on the androids' side (bc they are "human enough" and deserve freedom) while in reality we won't see such creations in our own lifetime, maybe never in the whole humankind's existence. But the damage the conflict between humans and the buzzword "AI" the greedy corpo bros create will be still quite similar.
Or just use an AI to detect stuff that is made by a human and stuff that is made by an AI that reverse engineers the process as AI uses algorithmic data that often comes from a source that is literally what this will lead too so your case and point is redundant. The fact that your so afraid and so offended merely paints the picture you know it's better then anything you can do that's the sign of a person who refuses to improve and adapt and instead demands things be taken down because they put them to shame. Lemme try... 1-05 is another automaton sent to designation "Oracle" to kickstart the terraforming of the planet's surface into a habitable environment for future colonists. Unfortunately, during landing, 1-05's pod was damaged by a stray meteorite fragment and when after the rough landing, it's systems are damaged beyond recovery. Per protocol, it's data is wiped and reset to factory settings, effectively turning him into a base model AI again. The plot centers around 1-05 or Los' journey to relearn his original directive through other robots who have also landed on the planet. 4's role is explained by a previous test landing, his full designation, 0-04. The only survivor of the previous attempt of terraforming the planet. Make it a plot twist of how Oracle was a rehabilitated earth that the 0 bots did all by themselves before the 1s actually arrived. 4 is a reflection of WALL-E in a sense of how he was sent there for a purpose, damaged, discovered ancient artifacts, gave himself a new purpose, and is now trying to defend it's new independence from being taken away by 5's directive. The plot can continue as normal with minor changes along the road which make it more watchable. The premise is actually not half bad, the problem is this was given to an AI and not a goddamn human team who want to actually make a good movie.

When Miyazaki said that he wasn't talking about generative AI. He was being a cynical bastard about a very simple algorithm being used to make a rigged model moving weird ways. He was specifically upset because it was presented as a way to make erratic movements for a monster in a movie, that is what specifically he was upset about.

right?!
every other frame either looks like a classic anime style (like 80's/90's) or some hybrid of a western cartoon with anime influences.
Iv seen some Jojo in it XD
The mixing of anime styles was definitely jarring. You right that you can easily tell what anime the ai was referencing when you look at the characters. The "animation" makes it so much worse. The ai's attempt to draw mouth movement was so weird looking.
The jojo one is the most obvious
AI isn't good enough to do this yet. At best, you can get static 3d shots that pan or rotate, or a few seconds of decent-looking footage, but nothing too complicated.
Give it 5 more years. Then you can actually use it as a tool instead of a crutch. You see a scene in your head. You dial it in with the AI animation. Tweak elements till it's what you want, then use vtube studio or something similar, and do the facial expressions yourself. So they look natural and make sense.
AI is no different than the digital drawing pad, or the burnt stick. (Real art make with hand and mud!)
But no one yelled at the burnt stick "hey! Make art for Oog. Bunny. Oog like bunny."
Nah. Oog drew the bunny.
You can use AI to create art, but you can't *have* AI create art.

@NieLubieNudy since when animation was "Alive"in the sense that is...well, living?.
@NieLubieNudy ok
That is 100% true. #noai
AI is best used in the Sciences, it has no place being used as the endpoint of art.
AI is really best used to do complex mathematical equations or biochemical medicine mixing, stuff that takes pure logic and rigid ratios that humans struggle with. Leave the creative works to the humans.
As a tool for helping, I agree, I've seen some studios that just used ai for just one step of the work but everything else was made by humans.
@@jacksonvoet8312 agree. AI can actually have some uses, just not in creativity. it has already been used in medical care for a while what i've heard.
It's sad. My dad has started using ai as a filmmaker too. I've tried to explain to him how hurtful this can be but he just says "This is much cheaper and easier than hiring an actual animator!". It sucks :/

The future of AI looks so... embarrassingly awful. 😂
It has a sort of Stop motion look to it that if used correctly and artistically could save countless production hours on replacement models and photographing every individual frame. But we all know its not about art its about executives removing having to pay people and hoarding the profits.

Literally my favorite game!
When it comes to this guy's writing ability, I find it pretty telling that, considering their respective stances by the end of the film, Cru named himself - rather than sticking with the designation given to him by humans - and Number Four did not. It seems like such an obviously odd choice as soon as you realise it.
I was very interested in FÜM from your ad read, I immediately went to the description and followed the link. WOW, those are ridiculously overpriced. 90 bucks for a 2 inch stick of wood with a $1 vape mouthpiece attached to it?? Wtf? AND, that's just the stick. You have to buy cores for it too. Jesus Christ everybody is so greedy these days.
Don't inhale essential oils.
Yup. That's why I use wooden toothpicks and/or wood-tipped black and milds (I don't light them, though).
You joke, yet that may not be far off from the truth.
What's next should we remove all digital art programs from the world because they put people who paint with a paintbrush and paint to shame on there fancy paintshop pro program that has layering and a means to take pre-existing pictures and modify them seminglessly?

This just proves that AI should NEVER replace a human’s job in any sort of way possible.
