I absolutely agree that the brainrot is getting worse. To the point that when people were calling the Nokotan ad (great show, btw) brain rot, the first think to come to mind was "My guys, if you think this is brainrot, you haven't even got past the patch of snow at the very top of this iceberg".
As an animator who has spent countless of hours learning the craft of animation, this brain rot stuff makes me not want to post on youtube. Why bother making anything of value? Brain rot is the only thing that matters apparently. Im not bending over backwards and spending hours infront of my workstation only to have comments like "WOW! your still alive?! I thought you were dead!!!" ....gee whiz... thanks.... you know what? going outside and enjoying life seems like a better option these days.
Ya then normal media isn't holding them enough and nothing's enough and they need faster and faster moving shit and get shorter and shorter attention spans. My lil bro can't even play survival Minecraft anymore. It's gotta be cheats, instant gratification, and he needs at least 5 add-ons. His game is SO SLOW. but he can't play it any other way.
People complained about TV rotting kids brains. But at the very least tv channels were legally obligated to follow strict rules. And there was always some level of quality control. And there were publicly funded stuff like PBS kids for more educational content. But with YT there's no such quality control. There's a basic set of rules but they're poorly enforced and nothing like what cable tv channels have to adhere to.
"But with YT there's no such quality control" Uh.............. yeah there is! It's called watch your darn kids! "But at the very least tv channels were legally obligated to follow strict rules" LOL! Is that why I had to wake up at 6AM on Saturday to watch Captain Kangaroo? The station fulfilled the "strict rule", just without having to give up a time slot for more lucrative programming.
@@xandercruz900 What he means is that there was some sense of quality control on a professional level, meaning that there was some small degree (and I do mean small) of care taken for the kids out there whose parents couldn't give less of a damn. Leaving your kids unattended with any internet-based entertainment, especially for hours on end, is practically the equivalent of tossing their brains in a blender.
@@PlayStonkers I read this and cant help but think back to the 80s when that era of adults said the same stuff about our cartoons then, and how the stuff they watched as kids was far superior and more sophisticated. my parents thought that stuff like Inspector Gadget, Tiny Toons, and Transformers were the dumbest stuff they've ever seen, while Howdy Doody, Underdog, Rocky and Bullwinkle, and the old 60s Batman were far better shows. The point is that the cycle just repeats and rhymes. In summary: "“I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary."
This kind of stuff is so concerning to me. I’m at the age where I’m now seeing my friends starting families, and one of my best friends has an 19 month old who already knows how to unlock her phone and access apps. Parents gotta be constantly alert with this brain rot, and it seems like parenting and influencing children in a positive way is a lot harder than it was decades ago because media is *constantly* around us now. No matter where we go. This was a great and enlightening video, definitely sharing it with some of those friends I mentioned haha.
You give a 19 year old a phone don't be surprised when it tries to make nukes a few years later...ITS AN INFANT!! They WILL see something and try to learn about it, they are in their most inquisitive years and simply want to learn about what's around them. Wait until they're 4 or 5 MINIMUM there is nothing they could possibly even tangibly attempt to think about doing with a phone that's even remotely within the realm of realistically sensible, its just not needed and can lead down a very bad road far quicker than you'd think possible.
Back in 2016, I gave my kid my phone and put on a Nick Jr video. I went to the bathroom and came back. Gil from Bubble Guppies was getting his arm amputated in a content farm video. After that I curated a playlist and blocked sites. When she saw characters like Bendy and Cuphead, I reached out to other parents for child friendly play throughs. I watched LOL dolls unboxing and play scenes with her. We enjoyed FNAF and Minecraft songs. She has Roblox under a custodial account that I monitor. Parents definitely have to watch what their kids are doing
Thank you for this. Not enough parents monitor what their kids consume on the internet, and I am so so so glad you've made sure your kid is as safe as possible online.
Oh Yoro, you're one of the few to monitor children like that. For me, my dad introduced us to horror movies, but was present when he did them. But I was never exposed to say, graphic/sexual violence at a very young age. It wouldn't be until say 10/11 years old that I would come across it, but by 2003 I ended up loving horror movies a ton that I embraced it. But that was back in 2006/2007 when UA-cam was just getting started as a small platform.
@@SuperFlashDriver I joined UA-cam in 2007 ✌🏾 My dad introduced me to horror. We'd watch them as a family. Growing up in the 80s, we watched movies like Nightmare on Elm Street and Candyman. The darkest I showed my daughter when she was younger was Tim Burton, (She was obsessed with Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice) Now at the age of 12 she asked to watch Final Destination. This chick said death doesn't have a design, just don't be dumb💀🤦🏾♀️🤭
@@Yorokobi224 I joined youtube in 2010 simply because I wasn't at the age yet of signing up one, but I didn't want to sign up in 2008 so I went for 2010 instead. My dad showed us B-Horror Monster films including Creature from the black lagoon, Them! (God that ant noise in the film drives me nuts. I can't imagine how they would play that sound during production, that must've been really loud decibels if that's the case), Attack of the crab monster, and another monster film but played on VHS back in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It wouldn't be until I discovered cable on demand on channels 600 and 300, or activate the iO, Optimum Interactive button on the old optimum 2002/2003 remotes that I would find a section of movies labelled horror, and I would absolutely watch trailers in the middle of the night or in the evenings, and man, seed of chucky was one of the very first horror film trailers I watched, along with The Ring 2, Child's Play trailers, The Day After Tomorrow, and many, many more in 2003 - 2005. I didn't know about Nightmare on Elm Street until I went deep diving into 1980s content on UA-cam in October 2008 (before that I was merely finding other cartoons or movie clips from years back uploaded by random users in the past, and yeah, what a wild west that was, but definitely one I'm proud to be apart of the timeframe when Adobe Flash was still king up until the early 2010s when HTML5 came along and Adobe flash eventually died in 2021/2022. Final Destination was scary to say the least, but personally I think Black Christmas by Bob Clark (the same guy who made Baby Genius 1 and 2), and Norai: The Curse from 2005 are my top 2 horror films that made me terrified at first, but loved them as years go by. But Norai is one of those japan horror films that really sticks with you looonnggg after you watch it, considering it takes place in November 2002 and ends in April 2004 (in real life, no photoshop, no soundstages, no paranormal activity, just real life examples of events that went all the way to where the paranormal investigator's family died and he went missing).
I’m a parent and it’s the parents responsibility to monitor and guide kids. UA-cam isn’t gonna bother changing unless it hurts their bottom line to ignore it. I showed my kid the difference between something quality like gravity falls and low effort trash like lanky box . If you help your kid develop good taste in entertainment, they’ll actively begin avoiding brainrot. Kids are smart enough to recognize trash, but they need to be taught what it is and why it’s bad. That’s been my experience anyway.
Wise words there, pal. Show them the entertainment we had before all this and compare it to the content that is happening now. It just might help them get out of this trap these greedy idiots set them up for.
exactly! a compromise i've found is alternating between regular cartoons and youtubers i've personally vetted. i highly recommend audiobooks too, my kids love wings of fire and for a week straight asked for that instead of tv.
Honestly, the worst part isn’t the brainrot itself, it’s the kids who are being impacted by it because their parents are too lazy and negligent to monitor their kids.
Call me old, but think about "Special Education". Gen Ed= general education, so think about all the children in Special Education. I've met children that are almost non verbal at seven years old, but one of the 10 words they can say is "Subscribe". In the "old days" Gen Ed were the role models during recess, and Special Education kids grew better social skills...
When I was a kid, most people my age had personal standards when it came to shows. For example, my sister and I wouldn’t watch Disney Channel because we thought it was too exaggerated. A lot of my friends didn’t watch Courage the Cowardly Dog because they didn’t like the style. It seems like now, kids are much less selective and have less personal standards when it comes to entertainment, which is probably another effect of brain rot.
It ENRAGES me that UA-cam is rewarding and promoting these talentless hacks for their laziness, while UA-camrs who are putting tons of effort into their content barely get noticed
UA-cam only cares about money. The more views it has, the more money it makes. A brain rot video with millions of views vs a genuine video with a lot of time and effort put into it with only a couple thousand views, who do you think youtube will care for the most? That's just the sad reality
@@bewearstar9462Not to mention the algorithm rewards consistency which makes me 10x harder for good creators to reap the benefits (really depends on what type of content their making tho)
Kids are honestly better off watching stuff like Bluey, Max and Ruby, or Dora The Explora than these content farms on UA-cam. At least with those shows, you actually learn something from them. With these brainrot channels, you don't really learn anything from them.
Well it was brain rot. Along with Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021, Ren & Stimpy, Bevis and Butthead, Tom and Jerry, the crap you guys used to watch on Newgrounds.... You just arent a kid now, so now it's all "weird" and "dangerous".
@@TheGuardDuckNo, but really, UA-cam is also at fault here. Sure, I agree that the Parents are to blame for this, it really is, but UA-cam casually recommending and allowing such content to exist here, picking topics not suitable for kids or pure content which adds nothing to the children's development. Hell, UA-cam Kids Exist to avoid this type of thing, and yet, what parents know about it? It's a place specifically for them, not here. My point is... UA-cam themselves have the tools necessary for control of this brainrot problem. Yet, they don't do anything, they have as much blame as the negligent parents.
@@Dieg-0 Yeah, UA-cam has some share of the fault, but for the most part, the algorithm is giving people what they want. Whether it's their responsibility to filter out trash us debatable.
As a zoomer myself, I can say that we didn't consume brainrot like the alpha generation does, I'm a 25 year old zoomer now, and I've met 13 year old kids who show me their memes or I see what you saw at the airport on the devices of today's kids, and brainrot is effectively taking over the internet, it wasn't like this before, I didn't grow up watching SO MUCH garbage like that on the internet, now it's plagued!! Those videos of Elsa pregnant when I was little I skipped them, I didn't consume them and most of my friends my age cringed with that, I grew up with videos like "The GAG quartet", they were talented musicians making handmade content, but today's alpha kids consume even morally questionable jokes (very sexist, unconscious, they think it's black humor but they consume very harmful and offensive content) and automated content, it's worrying and sad, I'm a digital animator zoomer, audiovisual content is my job, and seeing this affects me as much as it does to you.
What's the solution for parents who both work fulltime just to pay for rent, food, and overpriced school books, and end up completely drained when they finally get home to be with their kids?
@@Tenajeh theyre basically implying poor people who don't have the time and resources don't have a right to children, and especially functional, non brainrotted children. That's it. Either such people shouldn't have kids, or they should accept their kids will be barely functional beings only fit for conversion into meat robots.
A streamer i watch. Jabroni_mike got flagged for reacting to the content slop in a few videos. UA-cam deemed his videos harmful to children. Not the slop vids themselves. Him reacting to them. The slop vids can exist no issue. Fucked up really
You see - this is one of the reasons why I have to take a break from uploading videos on almost a weekly basis. Not only that brain rot is plaguing the site, the UA-cam algorithm is completely broken and is now recommending garbage like brain rot, cancel culture content, AI garbage, and politics everywhere. It is like the algorithm is now designed to rage bait us and throwing passionate content creators, no matter how big or small, under the bus. If this is another warning about the dead internet theory, then UA-cam is pretty much screwed. The more I see this happening, I often ask myself. I ask, "What is the point of doing stuff on UA-cam anymore?" "Why do I keep doing this while this is happening?" "Is entertainment as we know it is dead?" I have been making videos for almost around 15 years on UA-cam, Sure, my videos can be corny at best while some have lived their legacies. But I had suffered a burnouts from time to time and I just could not keep up the trends... The current trends right now are not appealing nor making any sense anymore. Sometimes I question UA-cam and its staff, "How many freaking magic mushrooms did you people consume every day?" And when it comes to something like this, I, like many others, refuse to make brainrot content. I refuse to stoop down to that level. I prefer to make videos that make sense. Something what makes entertainment... well, entertaining. Let's face it everyone. UA-cam as we know it is now filled with AI Elsagate Brainrot... The UA-cam Algorithm itself? It is now the *The Eldritch Amalgam of Brain Destroyers.*
I’m saying like?? The algorithm back then actually shined light on some well made, time built animations way more. Now it’s just some lazy slop in my recommended that gets all the views, because kids love it, so people mash together whatever they can and they just.. get views?? It’s so broken. Especially all the gross content people sneak in..
The algorithm is designed to do one thing. Make money. And the main product it is selling is the users. It's designed to get as many ads in as front of as many eyeballs as possible
@haydnw869 Have you ever read the sci-fi stories Pump Six and Brave New World? Basically, just combine those two dystopias, but then give everyone a layer of ironic and detached self-awareness about their sorry situation. That's the future: Riding what highs we can through failing technology in a blighted world, only able to process and face our looming extinction through the lens of dark humor memes and wry disassociation from our own decay. Or, you know, maybe it'll all be fine. Who knows?
You just really want to ignore the presidential election in the U.S. this autumn. Logically social media space will be over politicised for the duration of the presidential campaign, the presidential election and a little bit afterwards like a month or two.
Something that really irks me about modern cartoons aimed at kids is that the characters never. stop. moving. I was at a family gathering a few years ago and the young kids were all watching cartoons on TV and I just...was blown away at obnoxious the show was. I don't know what show it was, but the characters were so loud and over the top, constantly bobbing up and down, dancing, spinning around--just absolutely zero chill the entire time. It really did feel like the show was just jingling keys. I do not remember cartoons being like that when I was a kid.
They don't censor UA-camrs for saying "fuck". Stop lying. They might demonitize you but you're allowed to swear as much as you want on UA-cam. Most of these "brainrot" channels aren't monitized so they are just as "censored" as the UA-camrs you describe.
@@Cooe. Not only do the videos get demonetized, but they can also be removed from the search algorithm and removed from recommendations. The video for all intents and purposes stops existing and can only be found by going directly to the channel and scrolling through their videos. On top of that, according to UA-cam's guidelines they can delete your video or even give your channel a strike (and 3 strikes within 90 days means they delete your entire channel) if your content contains "sexually explicit language", "excessive profanity", etc. So no, UA-cam themselves explicitly say they will censor you if you swear too much in your videos. But one of the many issues with UA-cam is that they're not consistent at all in their enforcement, so it's just complete random chance what's gonna happen or if anything's gonna happen in the first place.
As stupid as the censorship of certain words, censorship of true crime and horror and the "for kids = disabled comments/demonitision" shite are, I think it is infinitely worse that UA-cam demonitises or censors certain opinions and facts. The true crime part is simply the most stupid one as news channels can talk about all the same stuff and still be monitised.
Can speak for this 1st hand, i used to be friends with a lass and has 3 small children under 10, she would let them use their tablets on youtube with 0 monitoring for HOURS as she watched TV. I called out that i caught her 7 year old watching digital circus brainrot and Poppy Playtime “kissing animations(?!) advised she should put youtube kids on there. I got yelled at, “you don’t know what’s best for my kids you’re not a Mother” never saw her again. Gen Alpha are doomed 🙁
_"You don't know what's best for my kids. You're not a mother."_ Well, neither are you, lady, if you're just sitting there and not keeping an eye on what your kids are watching.
My little 6 year old sister is watching things like digital circus and lanky box and ninja kids and whatever else. I try my best to limit her access to her phone, but since my parents get mad at me for making her cry because she can’t leave her phone AND computer for shucking 1 minute, i put a time limit for two hours. After that, she has to do something else or she can watch bluey. It fills me with rage sometimes seeing her in her tech and my parents just letting her be on it for countless hours. They even get mad at her for being on her phone too long, but Im always like “ your letting her access her phone for hours.. its on u” I cant say anything because i dont want my parents to get mad at me. I do know that if i ever have a child, im not buying them a phone until they go to middle school.
When I have kids the only thing they’ll be watching when they’re 0-12 is strawberry shortcake What happened to MLP and Strawberry shortcake? They still exist..I guess these parents just don’t care They’ll get a phone at 12/13 (if I can trust them) and they won’t wear makeup until they’re 16. Might sound too overprotective, but I don’t see why kids need to wear makeup at 10-13. And they also won’t be wearing crop tops until I think that they can. Sorry for my rant lol
lol my mom used to tell me if i watched too much tv it would rot my brain. Kinda backfired on her because it scared me so much that for a whole year I had her looking in my ear to see if my brain was rotting😂
That side of UA-cam is nightmare fuel, and to think kids today are growing with that with NO ADULT SUPERVISION (because that is the issue, adults today in general are not even half responsible parents as those that existed before, and those were not even many in the first place)
Another one aside from what that other person said is that the parents themselves are barely adults. They're closer to being children than responsible adults.@BestOneEver247
The problem is, everyone raises their child to be prepared for a world that is long gone by the time they reach adulthood. Maybe Gen Z or Gen Alpha can figure this out, but the millennials are hosed.
I’m a mom of three, and I regularly watch with my kids UA-cam, or other streaming services. Now yes there are times when I need to move laundry or cook for my family, but I pick what my children watch, and boy does UA-cam force these shows through the autoplay system. Once one comes on I grab the remote and tell my kids, we are not watching that. Thankfully we are mostly outside playing anyway, but I don’t understand why more parents won’t do what I do to protect their kids. I enjoy tv, but there is always such thing as too much of anything.
I keep auto play off myself, I fear the idea that it would turn the algorithm into a horrific ouroboros abomination since I use this app as background noise to fall asleep. The Not Interested and Block buttons are really your best friend for bending the algorithm to your will, Auto Play on the other hand is your worst enemy.

I'm speaking from experience as a gen alpha, most of my childhood was spent on UA-cam and I got weird fetishes that I'm still overcoming from Elsagate. It always frustrates me when I see people talk about Elsagate fondly or joke about kids these days because yeah it's funny but these kids are sitting here with depleting attention spans and you're just sitting here, laughing at them??? I feel like people have grown more cruel and I feel kind of phased because I never went through that awkward stage because of this push to move forward! Wear this! Do that! Mainly because of TikTok and that whole mess. Honestly, I wish that people brought more attention to what all of this is doing to children and teens and how it kind of feels like you can't be a kid anymore.
If you were a kid during elsagate i think you would be considered gen z, still, im sorry about what happened to you. While i think that alot of the scare is just the new form of “kids these days” taking its place in the form of online content, there is definitely a part of truth to the concerns, and i think that in the future this kind of content will get legislation and be regulated more. Whether or not they can pass those laws before its too late though, is the question.
I'm sorry. You don't deserve it anymore than when Boomers and Gen Xers did it to us Millennials and older Zoomers. Being a kid is always hard, but I genuinely can't imagine how hard it is being a kid right now.
people are gross. my roommates mom found it funny people were paying for home economics classes in their early 20s now a days and it was on the news a few years ago. when turns out, she said she got all that before leaving highschool.. like wow why could she find that funny when really its so sad that we have begun to regress from supportive of our communities and the future people that will join them back into heartless savages..
@@RaynaGrimmIt is a bloody tragedy because these kids have to pay out their pockets what should have been covered in middle/high school. No one seems to grasp this externalities racket. 😡
back in my day, brainrot was DECENT made by UPSTANDING INDIVIDUALS. They used GMod ragdolls and machinima NOWADAYS they don’t even bother mixing voice lines to make TF2 characters say painis
I wish UA-cam Kids was completely separate from UA-cam, so channels would have to specifically upload content made for kids in a forum made for kids. All the channels should have verification before they can upload and have their videos verified before they go up. And no content farms using characters from adult oriented entertainment. Then on regular UA-cam, we can have comment sections on videos with animated content that otherwise get marked as "for kids", because I sometimes miss being able to reminisce with others about movies or shows from my childhood. And I've heard that UA-cam Kids sometimes suggests videos with clips from the likes of Rick & Morty and Helluva Boss.
@@jonathankarl3379 Yea, unfortunately. I will never understand why that is, when shows like The Simpsons, South Park, and Family Guy have been on for decades 🙃
This is a genuine concern for my husband and I. We grew up with the tech becoming more prominent in people’s everyday lives. Him in the 90s and I with the 00s and 10s. I remember my parents being very restrictive about how much access we had to tech with my sister and I. Limited time on computers, computer games had to be vetted by my parents, I was lol 12 when I got my first personal computer and video game console. My computer could only connect to the internet by a usb receiver. We did something wrong we lost our internet access physically. My husband and I don’t have kids yet but we are already having to plan basic strategies to not exactly limit internet but encourage spending time off the computer or time on the computer being educational in some form. We have already agreed no smart phones till they have a flip phone for 3 years to show us they can be responsible, tablets (after they reach what we have deemed to be a good age, definitely not younger than 6 years old) are only allowed for long car trips over 5 hours long and for every 30 minutes of screen time they must spend an hour after drawing, reading a book or some other form of non screen activity, and tablets must be returned to the non driving parent for their hour to officially begin. Still trying to determine punishment for the lack of returning tablets.
Especially between Gen Ed and Special Education. I don't know if that term is still in use. I can't find a term that 100% of English speaking countries use.
Great Informative Video Bro. Its so weird as Milennials back in the day it was like they gave us an adequate amount of technology But Not too much where the brainrot became severe. Everyone nowadays basically has a mini super computer in their pocket as their phone. The thing I find really sad about the Brainrot content too is the fact that like you said Attention Spans have dwindled so much its even happening with Short form content now. I saw someone get into an argument on a short that it didnt get to the topic fast enough & the part there were referencing was literally 11 seconds into the 57 second short & then they got mad when the creator corrected them. Like Vine was fun and was its own thing back in the day, but I never felt like it affected people from paying attention to longer form content. Though on the positive side I have been seeing an emergence of people starting to fall in love with minimally edited content again for the fact it feels more organic & calming. Over the Hyper Edited Jingly Keys entertainment to Get the dopamine up. So Heres hoping more of that starts to come back into the fray and that this starts to get regulated.
This is honestly so true, the attention spans are awful and I am speaking first hand. I used to be able to sit and watch long movies with no problem but when content like Vine and TikTok started to be more popular my attention span just depleted and now I can't sit down and watch things like I used to years ago. It sucks not just watching it happen to the kids in the school I work at but experience it. Thankfully, as an adult, I can recognize the issue and combat it, Kids don't know any better, and it will get worse unless someone does something about it. (also omg hi JaxBlade, I've been watching you for years, I love your content man!!)
I hate shorts because they often rob the viewer of the context needed to understand what is going on/being said so you're onlyy getting an abridged version of something that might be much longer.
I was bullied at school for not watching tiktok and brainrot in general. Now I outperform my class. By the 4th grade's final exams I was the only one who could read clocks, by the 6th grade I was the only one who got above 90% on every single test and all that time I could outpace my class and take exams a week or two early without damaging my marks
9:52 thanks f****** God he said this there are so many people on this website who just blame kids for being stupid and they just act that they're so superior over them
16:30 My name is Benji, and I have a friend named Scarlett. We always pretended to be UA-camrs when we played Minecraft together. With this brainrot of the same name running rampant, dude…
I feel like this can be very discouraging to artists with big dreams. Remember what happened with Gooseworx? She implied that she's not even proud of TADC because of what content farms have done. You might have thought that think only happens with larger teams of animators such as Glitch Productions, but NO!! It also happened to an independent animator. You may have heard of her or not, but her name is Kaaatie. Earlier this year, Kaaatie made an animation called Basics in Behavior or commonly known as Fundamental Paper Education. She didn't even expect or mean for it for happen, but it skyrocketed in popularity. So much so, that it received its own fandom. At first, Kaaatie was excited about this, at first... As popularity shows up, rule 34 will always follow. A main character in the animation, Miss Circle, and others, were massive sexualized. It got so popular that, *unfortunately* , content farms such as Lankybox and Hornstromp found out about it and begin *making videos* of it. That, along with other occurrences, got do bad to the point in where Kaaatie gad to entirely discontinue FPE by saying that she didn't want to draw the characters anymore because they don't even feel the same. Basics in Behavior was originally a Baldi's Basics song which became Kaaatie's favorite song, and she wanted to do was make a fun AMV of it. AND NOW SHE LITERALLY SAID THAT SHE CAN'T EVEN LISTEN TO THE SONG ANYMORE BECAUSE OF EVERYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED!!! I thought it would be necessary to share and inform others of her situation. There's more to the story, but that's all I have for now. Stay safe on the Internet everyone! ♥️
I hate to be that person, but what else is there to be expected? If you want to make some animation stuff, you have to expect that there will be people who try to make a content farm of it. It's sad, but it's just like how R34 follows any and every form of content. I don't support the "creators" who take advantage of another's popularity with their garbage, but I wouldn't say to dislike your work when you should have seen it coming.
@goob3005 At some point it's just too much. It's not about expecting it anymore but the fact that it's shoved in your face everywhere you look at your own work, cuz you know, you probably want to interact with your community and take criticism of your work. But with examples like what the comment gave, they can't even do that because of these kinds of people. Basically at some point external factors play a role. (This is probably a bad example but you could say it's like a joke that got popular and then got annoying because people don't even use it correctly and so you it just feels cheesy and cheep to make.)
I hate to sound unempathetic, but these artists should soldier on. So what if people made crappy brainrot content? You art exists and matters so much that people decided to copy it. Hold on to that!
Parents were wrong about 90s/2000s cartoons being the stuff that'll rot our brains. I've seen countless number of families in public have their young children use their parent's phones and tablets to watch these videos that play the same library of sound sfx on repeat
Oh, and did I mentioned many parents told us to not go on UA-cam back in 2006/2007 because it would give the computers a virus if you watched too much youtube back in the day??? Memories of corrupting and infecting two HDDs on the old Windows XP desktop back in the late 2000s if you ask me. Nowadays, they have forgotten about it and moved on since 2015...Kind of weird to think the older Gen Xers and Millennials were against that 20 years back, and now they accept it as it is....Very strange if you ask me.
Don't forget rocky rakoon. Grabbing characters from vivzie, putting some dumb a$$ song in the background and putting them to dance. You saw Luna in the first seconds of this video mate...that crap is his...
Compare MaxdesignPro to Rocky rakoon, at this point MaxDesignPro feels like masterpiece. Becuase MDP atleast have (kinda) family friendly content, becuase Rocky Rakoon is literal an Kids Cornography.
No, this isn’t the Wild West of UA-cam, it IS highly moderated, just not how it should be. I can’t tell you how many times my comments don’t show up for instance.
yeah the auto moderator has gone completely haywire and is deleting easily like a half of everyone's responses no matter what it has. It deletes completely benign stuff and lets through complete vitriol.
There was one time I got caught by my parents when I watched a Spongebob video on UA-cam that contained loads of swear words that I was repeating out of my mouth. That was around 2007 and I was in my single digits. I was not allowed to watch UA-cam on a frequent basis until I became a middle schooler when I was old enough to deal with the website's content. I was also not allowed to watch certain television shows as a small child (Ed Edd n Eddy being one of those shows) because of how my parents saw them as dumb shows that would not be good on my brain. I still snuck off to watch some of those shows and a bit of UA-cam while my parents aren't looking, but at least the good parenting has also made me more selective on what I want to see.
You know how our parents tell us that if we watch too many cartoons, our brains would rot? With all this recent brainrot content, I now understand what they're talking about.
@@prasetyodwikuncorojati2434 yeah. And sometimes small cartoons with no plot can still be entertaining and fun for the sake of the moment without just being straight up rot
21:40 Ironically, the studio behind Bluey sent a cease and desist against Flashgitz. They responded by uploading an "Australian safe" version of switching their color palettes and calling the main character Reddy.
ugh Flashgitz, those guys are alt-right bigots, they've done garbage painfully unfunny cartoon videos that basically spout every cliched right-wing talking point out there.
@@flyingsquirrell6953 their console wars vids were tolerable but whenever they try to do "edgy" alt-right humor like that godawful TRANSFormers video it's pure cringe.
Found this video randomly. I tried to explain to parents not to trust youtube AT ALL, not even UA-cam Kids, and the amount of pushback I got was nuts. There is NO QUALITY CONTROL. They don't give a FLYING FUCK what the algorithm shoves in front of a child, because at the end of the day, youtube gets paid for every view, and children are view FARMS. They know all the tricks, like loud noises, bright color, rapidfire cuts- everything. It's depressing. I get it, kids are hard, but we have to think outside the box. We're hurting them by not sacrificing a little sanity. Edit: Roblox is 100% not allowed for my kids. Not allowed. At all. Period. No roblox. That shit is NOT monitored at fucking all and it's fucking brainrot on CRACK.
I hope my favorite indie animation show, murder drones, hasn’t gotten corrupted by the content farms (yet?) but it’s sad to see what’s happened to TADC, it’s actually a good show, but now the only thing people think when they see it is all the weird ahh content farms
MDP is actually the Best of content farms because: 1. He is making an entire story 2. Most of his non-plot videos teach morals 3. He respects his fans, showing their art as easter eggs
I feel like maxdesignpro gained popularity not only because of the trends, but also because his stuff is genuinely pretty high quality. Not in story, he still has a long way to go, but with the visuals and community interactivity. Unlike most of these channels, he has shown to storyboard and at least try to make a plot, unlike most. He also interacts with his community, and is genuinely a nice guy, hence why I think a lot of kids look up to him. I’m glad that he’s starting to at least try to teach valuable lessons to kids via his content, rather than make the same repeating videos, and I hope that his content can grow with his audience.
I guarantee you a majority of their fanbase is kids, though. The people who are actual fans of maxdesignpro are outliers and im shocked it’s in an unironic way
I agree, MDP actually puts a decent amount of work into the animations, and while i do agree it got alot of its popularity through other media it has grown to have its own characters within it.
I dont have kids, but if/when i do, I already have a list of quality stuff i want them to watch from toddler to start of teens, Im not sure if that's creepy/weird,. but id rather be weird than let them watch anything the algo feeds them online.
Ive had similar thoughts as well honestly, the shows I grew up with when I was a kid where just better than a majority of todays shows. I rewatched a lot of the older shows and there where good characters, good stories and morels, good but not extra violent action, and obvious care was put into the shows. I’ll definitely get box sets of them and have those to share
Belive me when i say this my kuds wont get to spend time on the internet until they are 13 years old and even the its 1 or 2 hours max a day and ny word is law in my house god dammit! Unlike nost parents who are totall push overs and give up right away when the kid starts a tantrum.
I just put a stop to this in our house. My 7YO was saying some out of pocket things recently that we tracked to this type of content... So now our older two can watch UA-cam but know about this type of content and the younger two are not allowed on UA-cam till older. We have also been limiting screen time now too...
Yeah digital circus was actually meant to be 13+ because of like the mental breakdowns they have hazbin and helluva boss are 18+ and i say a murder drones clip in there thats 13+ because of gore and other things
UA-cam shorts made this worse. I've seen several kids just watching nonsensical cringe videos and scroll through them like there's no end. They just stare at the screens like it's the most precious things in existence. We're turning our kids into doomscrollers. And worse when they play these in front of you and you slowly lose your mind listening to them .
Atleast maxdesignpro is self aware and more kid freindly, he cares more about his audience then other brainrot channels. he even shows fanarts in his animations.
Max’s Fandom is really loyal or so Thing like that. They made a high effort fnf mod about it. A whole ass mod for a brain rot channel. MDP a respectable brain rot channel in my opinion
It's possibly because he actually puts himself into his videos. I personally still think the content isn't that great, but there IS some level of effort being made compared to the pure brainrot that is content farm channels, so I can at least respect him for that.
Way worse than TV age. Parents do have the power to turn off the Internet. Limit the amount of hours they are allowed. Have them try other stuff. But we The adults are killing ourselves to pay for rent and food so we work all Day & Night. In the end I blame Corporate Greed for keeping all mankind as slaves.
Oh please. What a bunch of cowardly excuse-making. I have to wooooork and pay biiiiils, so I cant be expected to paaaaarent! WAH!!!!!! Your arse dont work "all day and night". You likely have plenty of time to goof off on the internet yourself, watch Netflix or play video games! Both my brother and his wife work, and they find the time to govern their daughters internet use. They are so strict it feels like it's N. Korea over there. And these 2 are millennials that used to look at some weird shite back in the early 2000s.
@@xandercruz900 I'm sorry do you yourself have a child? Are you feasibly in a position to have a child? Many people aren't nowadays because nobody can afford shit. If you're working two jobs practically day and night for 14 dollars an hour at a company or two that wants to squeeze every drop of productivity out of you, you're going to want to spend your free time recharging with something easy. If you have a child while in that same situation, you not only have to deal with stress and exhaustion, but also a fussy 5 year old that wants McDonald's in the back seat because you missed the bus and are almost late for work. Not every kid is an angel and no one has energy to do anything anymore Good on your brother for not being stuck at the hands of companies, but not everyone is superman.

I'll send this to my brother (36) and his wife with their 14 and 6 year old daughters so they can know after their long shifts in retail, they totally have "no time" to govern their daughter's internet use, and the insane levels that I see them engaging in with their access to tablets, PCs and phones is just a figment of my imagination. Apparently they have magical powers while people like you can squeeze time playing around on UA-cam, but apparently have no time to parent your kids. That's what I'm saying. It's always been brainrot. This is only new to grifters and people who think their brand of brainrot is different. I mean ffs. Skibidi toilet wasn't wild to anyone my age because we grew up with Gary's Mod.

I think that as a lot of things, Brainrot will die down. To think of it many people considered Fredd, old Smosh, and Annoying Orange to be Brainrot, but today it is seen by most (including me) as Classic UA-cam. Same thing happened during the 2010’s to 2020 because of all the kids channels at that time (Most Notably Minecraft Brainrot). But of course that died down, and then from 2020 to now we have the Brainrot we know today. I for one think there will be demand for better content from both parents & older teens. And the creators/editors themselves can’t keep this up forever. In conclusion, I do think it will die down and there will be something else for everyone focus on next, but we just have to keep waiting for however long, and keep fighting for what’s right.
My son has been OBSESSED with Lankybox channel no matter what I do. He started naming his toy box “my lankybox merch box!” And I’m like this is too far and no more UA-cam for awhile 🙅🏽♀️ Edit: before I get this comment too much, yes I monitor his UA-cam usage and have even blocked the channel from his UA-cam kids account. The issue with that is even UA-cam says there are other channels that can review and upload this content as well. I can and do block them as they pop up and even have banned him from UA-cam on and off. I can’t control what he watches when he’s at a friend’s houses or visiting relatives. There’s only so much I can control even if I take away his device usage at home. I don’t plan on keeping him isolated from the rest of the world so I do what I can to prevent him from watching that type of content but it’s like fighting a Hydra monster. A new channel pops up after I thought I got rid of the last one. I understand my responsibilities as a parent when it comes to monitoring my child on the internet. Especially as someone who was taken advantage of as a child through the internet. There’s only so much in my control when UA-cam makes this content so easily accessible.
@@xandercruz900 I’ve blocked the channel but I can’t block every channel that uploads the content. And yes I do take his device if I see him on UA-cam but I can’t control what he watches at his friends house.

to be honest, max design pro is probably the least worst brainrot on youtube. Atleast the episodes somewhat have stories and lessons, and he does reference content made by his fans.
Honestly, I never thought of Rocky Raccoon as a brainrot channel. Just a regular guy who makes some weird animation memes and that’s it. But now when people point it out, that actually makes sense and I can see it. But the fact many of his animations aren’t very appropriate for the younger audience, like damn…
Dude drew the Squid Game robot doing the Jacko-Pose. The robot is modelled after a child and he claimed he didn't the robot was supposed to be a child. Like, WHAT DO YOU THINK A CHILD LOOKS LIKE, ROCKY?!! He's also into drawing underage characters in adult situations and his audience is children.
If I recall he did animate something a visual novel which is a different rabbit hole I would suggest anybody not to look up unless you’re morbidly curious.
I kid you not, 3 years ago, when I was in middle school, every like 1/30 students in my class had Helluva Boss pfps. These kids were in MIDDLE SCHOOL, they should NOT be watching that shit.
In all fairness, it was the same way with South Park in the 90s/2000s. Hell, South Park back then was probably *way* more influential among middle/elementary schoolers than Helluva Boss is today.
To be honest, max design pro is an odd case. Hes the least harmful when it comes to brainrot, or at least of recent months. Yea, he was milking the hell outta the nugget meme, but honestly its not as bad as average brainrot content farms (regarding the use of clickbait, constantly using popular trendy "kids" character, and weird subtle sexual or fetish-esqe themes). I will say, if you know mdp, you know his channel blew up thanks to a specific fnf song (twiddle fingers) and now having an actual fanbase behind his channel. He even interacts with them, acknowledges the art and the same fnf mod that accidentally gifted him with so many genuine fans and subscribers. His content is now a bit better now compared to the pre-twiddle finger era. I can actually tolerate watching it, appreciate the characters and see how hes not as soulless as other channels ; who genuinely see kids as another dollar in their pocket, exploiting them with scummy practices. I do appreciate that he keeps it family/kid friendly, no sexual/weird themes, and a bit of a message behind the shorts. Its the least he can do and i have way more respect towards him compared to other brainrot channels. (Btw, screw rocky rakoon, and im sad that he wasnt shit on in this video LOL. Not only cus of his content but stuff going on outside of his channel.)
Oh, and can't forget he's adding a fan character into the shorts. And that character is Oxaya!! Max is actually so goated, and the best "brainrot" animation channel by FAR.
@Mysteriebolt26 tdlr : mdp is better than other content farms cus it's actually appropriate, not as scummy, and has more soul as of recent rather than pumping sludge daily. Along with having a genuinely passionate and caring fanbase thanks to twiddle fingers.
Agree! 👍 Compare MaxdesignPro to Rocky rakoon, MaxDesignPro feels like masterpiece. Becuase MDP atleast have (kinda) family friendly content, since Rocky Rakoon is literal an Kids Cornography.
I think really the biggest issue people are missing here is kind of a given and an easy answer is still basically the root problem: It’s Late Stage Capitalism. Like yes there is absolutely a personal accountability on the parents who do nothing to at least prevent or to mitigate the screen time/ media their kids consume. BUUUUT 4 major points 1. Why can’t parents pay more attention to their kids? Almost 40% of Americans have 2 jobs just to make ends meet. And many of these are full time with limited to no PTO and limited benefits. From the Labor Bureau in 2023. Along with minimum Federal Wages being stagnant at 7.25/hr. 2. Why do kids even have access to these devices. Technology has boomed like Saber said but also in creating these slops of garbage people can just pump them out quickly and without and care or quality control. It’s not like these devices are inherently evil they can absolutely benefit children in many way but legislation hasn’t caught up to this level almost predatory market of content farming brainrot. 3. Why do some kids even with parents who limit their screen time still not pay attention? Mental health/ Nutrition yes shockingly if you can’t afford or meet your daily calories needed your mental attentiveness with suffer. And when even the stuff you’re eating isn’t healthy or of good quality Oxford academic has done multiple studies. 4. Is it too late? While the last 3 points will absolutely take time to change legislation. No we need to invest in better technology limitations for kids, create healthy safe spaces for children online with good moderation behind it. EDUCATING CHILDREN ON INTERNET SAFETY OH PLEASE OH PLEASE.
This, so many people are missing the point that this issue is a systemic one, made up of many interconnected problems. Poor pay, worker exploitation, underfunded social programs meant to help families, lack of access to healthy foods, alienation, etc. For real change to be made, we have to address the issue from every single angle. Enact strong worker protections that ensure PTO, focus community planning to move away from social alienation (walkable spaces instead of car dependent suburbia), place similar regulations on online kids content to what the FTC did to TV in the 1990s, enact stronger regulations against food companies to make sure they aren’t throwing in harmful ingredients that are outlawed in countries with stronger food safety standards, and sign laws into place that make tech companies be more transparent with their practices just to name a few. It’s going to take time for change to occur, but the future will be much better if we get the ball rolling
Thank you! A final thing I’ll point out for people who say, “well I don’t care about politics I just want this brainrot off UA-cam.” If you want this brainrot off UA-cam you’re gonna have to suck it up and pay attention and get involved with politics because that’s the only way for this shit to get off UA-cam and for this site to even care about getting it off.
@@Lordpower963 No, you can’t. I mean, you CAN, but it’s exceptionally dishonest to do so. Especially considering someone did actual analysis before you, and then you, quite flippantly, disregard any semblance of academic integrity for your baseless libertarian drivel.
I think another big "problem" that hasn't really been addressed is how accessible these platforms are from a monetary standpoint. Most kids either go to UA-cam or Twitch for their entertainment. Reason being because these are the only platforms that don't have a "pay to access" model (television as well, but as you touched on, they are moving towards being a streaming service rather than using their broadcasting stations.) Because of this, most of us don't want to pay to enter, unless there's truly something that we want to see, which gives us the access and by proxy the kid can access it as well. But now it comes to a point where not only are the content creators cry for attention, but now the networks are also crying for attention because Family Guy is over here, but Princess and the Frog is over here, but XYZ movie is over here, etc. Which then boils down to paying hundreds of dollars in streaming services if we want to provide quality entertainment to ourselves and to our children. And because of how ridiculously expensive that sounds, especially in this state of our economy, most people would opt for watching "free" UA-cam and Twitch over paying for Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Paramount+, Peacock, and more, for the sake of a variety of quality content to choose from. The UA-cam race you were touching on now with this perspective, isn't a race to the bottom, but rather competing against all of the aforementioned services because it is turning into "Why pay for Disney+, we have Frozen on UA-cam!", which is extremely similar to Asylum productions and such who saw the next big thing and made a knockoff movie that treads the line of being insanely close to being copyright claimed, without actually having that threat. The difference with UA-cam and Asylum, with UA-cam if there's a claim, simply make a new channel and move on. With Asylum, it's millions of dollars and potential bankruptcy. There's more on the line for Asylum than the UA-cam creator, which is why "brainrot" content is so easy to produce with little to no repercussions in doing so.
Yep. And it's the same problem with Discord if you ask me, not just UA-cam.....But if UA-cam wanted to do a pay to enter type of fee for their website, they should have done it back in the late 2000s. But they waited too long to do it and now no one else wants to pay for it, so it's going to have to be tax write offs just for the company to survive at this point.
I will never let my child watch youtube without supervision.. My nephew was a kid though the "cute childrens characters getting splattered" times of youtube, and he did get scared.. He should not have been sitting in his own room door closed watching god knows what on his ipad.. I understand needing to shut up your kid or help them regulate or whatever but there are other ways if you stop up and think for just a few seconds! But no parents dosent have the time or energy to do that and handing them the phone or ipad is bettee then being in contact with the child. My sister is raising two ipad children and it unfortunate shows on them.. I hope more parents realize the potential hurtful content children can come across and give them something else, fucking give them a netflix show or something instead.. Just not youtube..
Theres a reason im so glad i have a ton of old 90's Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon recordings on VHS that im working on converting to digital. Probably have upwards of 1000+ hours of recordings to get through plus a shit ton of old animated movies and such to get through too. Gonna have my kid watch that instead of just letting them go buckwild on youtube since it seems impossible to control the algorithm, even on UA-cam Kids...
@@SongRepeater Yea but the parents have the option of noti giving a 3-year-old a tablet. Parents have the power to take the device away and make the kids do other things. Yes kids are sneaky - guess what, you can still put the device to a place they won't easily get to. If you don't let them get on the brainrot train in the fist place, they will be more likely to not go to drastic lengths to get the ipad because they won't be addicted to a screen at the age of 5
@@Batz-on-paws true but there’s nothing wrong with kids having screen time as long as it’s monitored if kids want to chill out after school or after a busy day watching their favorite show than so be it as long as the parent is monitoring and doesn’t walk away from it than who cares
@@SongRepeatertoddlers and young children being on phones and tablets is detrimental for their development (unless it’s for accessibility needs) I don’t see a problem with watching an occasional movie with your toddler but even that should be pretty limited. I’m an ECE and from what I’ve seen young children who have access to handheld devices for entertainment have a harder time holding their attention, regulating emotions, they often become very overstimulated as a result but at the same time they build up an unhealthy dependency on screen time (even if it’s just a few minutes a day). It honestly is way better in the long run to give them a book to look at, some toys, or some work to do while you need them to be occupied. You’re absolutely right though older children need to always have their internet and TV time monitored.
@@justisiss I totally understand where you’re coming from but not all kids are bad when it comes to technology I’ve actually heard some parents of kids with special needs let their young kids be on phones or tablets to watch UA-cam because it helps calm them down idk if that’s true but that’s just what I’ve heard
They want dead minded slaves just clever enough to run the machines but not clever enough to realize how badly they are getting shafted. That way they will eat the bugs, live in pods, and get excited for New Product
My sister is unfortunately one of these kids. I’ve tried to get my mom to do something about it but she doesn’t seem to think it’s a problem. IT BECAME A PROBLEM WHEN SHE STARTED FLOSSING TO ANNOY ME! That stopped being a thing when I was in middle school!
The second I herd king of the hill I was so excited bc my me and my dad would watch it all the time and it’s nice to see that it’s not me, my dad and his friends that watched that show the memories hit hard❤
I turned 30 earlier this year, and I've worked with younger kids in daycare for about 3 years so far, and I've noticed a handful of kids eat this stuff up easily. I've seen a lead teacher have a tablet playing a straight long video of singalong nursery rhymes, then baby shark, etc. during music time. That shit drones on FAST. And I grew up with stuff like Barney, Disney, and a lot of the other stuff that a handful of kids the comments had back then. Tbh, there's a lot of over-reliance on UA-cam from a lot of different people that causes this lack of filtering in UA-cam. That, and UA-cam doesn't really give a shit about creators until they get copyright-claimed for some bs.
My school was large enough that it had preschool to high-school all on site. When I was in my last year of HS I was asked to deliver something to one of the preschool teachers and walked into her classroom to find one of those hypnotic repetitive nursery rhyme songs on in the big screen, all the kids watching with their mouths open. I myself frozen for a few seconds until the teacher spoke to me, clearly uncomfortable I caught her doing and awkwardly said "It's the best thing to keep them quiet during lunch". I would never send my kids to a school that does this. I understand a classrooms of preschoolers can be exhausting but hypnotizing them with UA-cam is beyond creepy.
The difference with our old brainrot and gen alpha's are we have the chance to be patient. Remember those 8 minute commercial breaks that we watch while we wait for the next episodes on TV? Kids these days will never learn how to sit down and wait because scrolling mindlessly is instant. I often visit my toddler cousin after a days work and man I wish I can save him. All he does is watch brainrot Poppy Playtime and for once I caught him watching softporn Skibidi Toilet. I used to convince him to watch Bluey but he would cry. I'm also afraid to scold my cousin or my uncle since they might see me as mean or bossy. Just at the age of 3 man, he knows what "fuck" or "shit" is thanks to all the brainrot.
8 minutes? Not sure that adds up unless you're talking about the culmative amount. ( As a 30 minute episode was only 22 minutes if you cut out all commercials. ) Longer ad rolls meant more time to take a bathroom break or fix a snack. For that reason, I felt like networks kept them short but frequent.
There was this little behind-the-scenes/outtakes video of Brandon Rogers and Richard Horvitz recording their lines for Helluva Boss together, full of swears and all kinds of profanities (honestly fun and hilarious to watch if you need a little pick-me-up), and it was listed as a UA-cam KIDS video. Jesus. YT Kids is like a used bandaid floating in the public pool.
I've watched episodes of Air Crash Investigation that were marked as "youtube kids content". I'm not sure what 3 year old would be watching a documentary about Air France Flight 442, but for some reason it was marked as such.

I babysat a kid who watches NOTHING but UA-cam brainrot videos, I had to hide the iPad and TV remote just to get them to play with actual toys. They have NO ATTENTION SPAN, doesn't understand the word no, and can't play with their friends without it ending in a fight. I tried to help the kid, but they wouldn't listen to me, Their parents spoil them and anytime I said no it was met with “but mommy/daddy let me do that.” why would they listen to me, I'm the one who won't let them eat cookies for breakfast, spend the whole day watching tv, wont buy them the $40 toy at target, or let them eat candy or junk food as a snack after they ate lunch (even though they already had a treat and I offered them other snacks for them to eat if they were still hungry)
I’ll be honest. MDP seems like the least terrible one here. Maybe part of it is because of the mod but at least he’s seemingly a nice guy behind the content and his brain rot is surface level with him mostly using the nugget and the monkey characters.
My bro SaberSpark clearly doesn't know and has only looked at the bad content without trying to dig further, Max has actually evolved and I genuinely am a fan of his work. We gotta raise awareness on this brooooo
Yeah, this right here. I don't know why call it a content farm or brainrot when the guy behind it has a fanbase he interacts with often. It baffles me. Feels like he [Saber] did no research.
If I got an award for "Least Terrible Brainrot", I would seriously have to rethink all my choices that led my there and evaluate if I'm worth the oxygen
My niece watch this a lot , but I always try my best to keep her busy, doing activities without phone , UA-cam . Just try my best not to let her always on phone
The issue isn't the content or the parents not monitoring well enough. The problem is that which facilitates this to happen in the first place. Yes the content is terrible and yes parents do need to try a bit harder, but pointing fingers isn't the answer, plus the real problem is the very system that facilitates these issues to begin with
If I had a kid they would get a dumbphone when they are 7, but no smartphone until they are 13 (a.k.a their teens.), and even then I would limit what they could watch on youtube (There are controls where you can approve what can be seen.) until they hit 17....at that point they are borderline an adult. They can choose what they want to watch.
Halfway got an ad for Gabbys dollhouse on Netflix. Reminds me of the Thundercats era. It's a show, with a whole Playset to have at home "so playtime never ends" Perfect video for that ad haha
it started as a meme but then he turned it into something bigger and worth watching, too bad the name cant be changed, im sure that's what turn people away from giving it a try
Okay, I've seen YTPs mentioned a lot and I think theres an important note here; A lot of them did have sexualized content, a lot of them do use motif jokes, but most of them are still doing something stylized and creative. They aren't churned out every 5 minutes and the best ones remix the source material to create something unintended. It isn't high art but it isn't absolute slop. Brainrot content is repetitive noises, constant flashing, shocking mature content of all kinds to try and push an envelope, et cetera. You cannot compare "Micheal Rosin exceeds the number of socially acceptable 9/11 jokes in a single video" and this shit.

I absolutely agree that the brainrot is getting worse. To the point that when people were calling the Nokotan ad (great show, btw) brain rot, the first think to come to mind was "My guys, if you think this is brainrot, you haven't even got past the patch of snow at the very top of this iceberg".

Cocomelon is one hell of a drug to the kids.
@DontReadMyBio333 I hope it does.
this video explains why
@@КГБКолДжорджКостанца sometimes I think the creation of the internet and UA-cam might have been a mistake…
Ya then normal media isn't holding them enough and nothing's enough and they need faster and faster moving shit and get shorter and shorter attention spans. My lil bro can't even play survival Minecraft anymore. It's gotta be cheats, instant gratification, and he needs at least 5 add-ons. His game is SO SLOW. but he can't play it any other way.
at least none of them will grow-up to steal my job
People complained about TV rotting kids brains. But at the very least tv channels were legally obligated to follow strict rules. And there was always some level of quality control. And there were publicly funded stuff like PBS kids for more educational content.
But with YT there's no such quality control. There's a basic set of rules but they're poorly enforced and nothing like what cable tv channels have to adhere to.
"But with YT there's no such quality control"
Uh.............. yeah there is! It's called watch your darn kids!
"But at the very least tv channels were legally obligated to follow strict rules"
LOL! Is that why I had to wake up at 6AM on Saturday to watch Captain Kangaroo? The station fulfilled the "strict rule", just without having to give up a time slot for more lucrative programming.
Yeah. It's bad. This is what happens when we allow stupid people to do whatever they want.
In summary:
"“I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary."
UA-cam definitely needs alot more moderation. Seeing what alot of these channels get away with (stolen content) is just bs
@@AbsoluteSolver_98.7 it's so important to teach kids digital citizenship
Oh Yoro, you're one of the few to monitor children like that. For me, my dad introduced us to horror movies, but was present when he did them. But I was never exposed to say, graphic/sexual violence at a very young age. It wouldn't be until say 10/11 years old that I would come across it, but by 2003 I ended up loving horror movies a ton that I embraced it. But that was back in 2006/2007 when UA-cam was just getting started as a small platform.
@@SuperFlashDriver I joined UA-cam in 2007 ✌🏾
My dad introduced me to horror.
That’s smart! Show them what you grew up with and the quality stuff not the trash of content farms
Wise words there, pal. Show them the entertainment we had before all this and compare it to the content that is happening now. It just might help them get out of this trap these greedy idiots set them up for.
@@cjhammer0623 that’s a great idea
exactly! a compromise i've found is alternating between regular cartoons and youtubers i've personally vetted. i highly recommend audiobooks too, my kids love wings of fire and for a week straight asked for that instead of tv.
can we have more details on how you showed them the difference?
Honestly, the worst part isn’t the brainrot itself, it’s the kids who are being impacted by it because their parents are too lazy and negligent to monitor their kids.
A better parent would have the kids watch something better. This is just mental junk food.
Exactly. The way he described it at the beginning is concerning

Unironically, I can't wait for the current generation of kids to grow-up, to see what sort of content they will come-up with
When I was a kid, most people my age had personal standards when it came to shows.
That's because we are talking about children under the age of like 7 who don't know wtf they are even looking at
It ENRAGES me that UA-cam is rewarding and promoting these talentless hacks for their laziness, while UA-camrs who are putting tons of effort into their content barely get noticed
And because they arent making enough money, they are overvly strict and demonized video for the smallest of reasons
@@bewearstar9462 Even breaking their own rules for them
UA-cam only cares about money.
And i work very hard on each animation, but because of that STUPID ALGORITHM, i only get views when my videos are based on something that’s trending
And all the parent who said Spongebob was mindless brain rot

@@Seanman2006WAIT what did they do to SpongeBob? I actually haven’t seen SpongeBob in forever and like what happened?
Kids are honestly better off watching stuff like Bluey, Max and Ruby, or Dora The Explora than these content farms on UA-cam.
At least with those shows, you actually learn something from them. With these brainrot channels, you don't really learn anything from them.
Well it was brain rot. Along with Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021, Ren & Stimpy, Bevis and Butthead, Tom and Jerry, the crap you guys used to watch on Newgrounds....
You just arent a kid now, so now it's all "weird" and "dangerous".
UA-cam has become a place where brain rot trash, ai, and content farms are rewarded while actual effort and creativity is punished.
It's sad cause there's actually good content and some amazing instructional content. I learned to fix so much stuff from UA-cam videos
I feel like youtuber doesn't have long before people just check out. I'll give it 5-10 once all of the kids grow up.
The thing is, it's not UA-cam's fault. People make trash, other people eat trash. Then they grow up into trash, and make more trash.

I ask, "What is the point of doing stuff on UA-cam anymore?" "Why do I keep doing this while this is happening?" "Is entertainment as we know it is dead?"
I have been making videos for almost around 15 years on UA-cam, Sure, my videos can be corny at best while some have lived their legacies. But I had suffered a burnouts from time to time and I just could not keep up the trends... The current trends right now are not appealing nor making any sense anymore. Sometimes I question UA-cam and its staff, "How many freaking magic mushrooms did you people consume every day?"
And when it comes to something like this, I, like many others, refuse to make brainrot content.
So what’s then end game here? What going to happen in the next 30years?
The fact that they allow this shit but censors a UA-camr just for saying "fuck" once is beyond me
And don’t forget, this has happened before too!
True.

That side of UA-cam is nightmare fuel, and to think kids today are growing with that with NO ADULT SUPERVISION (because that is the issue, adults today in general are not even half responsible parents as those that existed before, and those were not even many in the first place)
But why aren't parents as responsible for their children as they should?
@@BestOneEver247Best I can figure is because they think they can just hand a device to their kid to keep them distracted and let that be that

I wasn't even a fan of the animation (I thought it was fun but that was about it) but I feel so bad for her. What happened just ain't right.
its just "if theres a successor, theres a copy"
On steroids and beyond

Yeah I've typed completely harmless comments and UA-cam still hides them. It's annoyingly baffling.
@@gratermccheesy9650 making people believe UA-cam cares and moderates

3. He respects his fans, showing their art as easter eggs

Unlike most of these channels, he has shown to storyboard and at least try to make a plot, unlike most. He also interacts with his community, and is genuinely a nice guy, hence why I think a lot of kids look up to him.

The problem is not "Brain rot" the problem is the people who know there's a lot of kids without limitation on the internet 💀
BUUUUT 4 major points
You can blame taxes for the parents working two jobs
@@Lordpower963 No, you can’t. I mean, you CAN, but it’s exceptionally dishonest to do so. Especially considering someone did actual analysis before you, and then you, quite flippantly, disregard any semblance of academic integrity for your baseless libertarian drivel.
@@TheBlueMage16 okay, maybe your right
I think another big "problem" that hasn't really been addressed is how accessible these platforms are from a monetary standpoint.
Most kids either go to UA-cam or Twitch for their entertainment. Reason being because these are the only platforms that don't have a "pay to access" model (television as well, but as you touched on, they are moving towards being a streaming service rather than using their broadcasting stations.)
Because of this, most of us don't want to pay to enter, unless there's truly something that we want to see, which gives us the access and by proxy the kid can access it as well.
Why bother getting kids if you don't have time for them?
I feel bad for those children
Theres a reason im so glad i have a ton of old 90's Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon recordings on VHS that im working on converting to digital. Probably have upwards of 1000+ hours of recordings to get through plus a shit ton of old animated movies and such to get through too.
Gonna have my kid watch that instead of just letting them go buckwild on youtube since it seems impossible to control the algorithm, even on UA-cam Kids...
Blame the parents for just being LAZY and INCOMPETENT for just throwing a digital device to their kids with no supervision.
Exactly but then again kids are sneaky and will do anything to watch/do something they’re not supposed to 🤷🏼♀️
@@SongRepeater Yea but the parents have the option of noti giving a 3-year-old a tablet.
The fact they delete videos calling this stuff out, but let the original video stay unchanged.
2:03 this just looks like the kind of stupid animation we had in 2012-14, back then this would have been peak youtube
I would truly agree
I remember enjoying GameToons to a degree back in like 2021, but yeah it does kinda give lhugueny energy especially more now than ever
Watching what skibidi toilet
8 minutes? Not sure that adds up unless you're talking about the culmative amount. ( As a 30 minute episode was only 22 minutes if you cut out all commercials. )
Longer ad rolls meant more time to take a bathroom break or fix a snack. For that reason, I felt like networks kept them short but frequent.
Do they...know their kid's watching softcore porn?
4:43 bro, the way hes voiced as hang is hilarious🤣🤣🤣
There was this little behind-the-scenes/outtakes video of Brandon Rogers and Richard Horvitz recording their lines for Helluva Boss together, full of swears and all kinds of profanities (honestly fun and hilarious to watch if you need a little pick-me-up), and it was listed as a UA-cam KIDS video. Jesus. YT Kids is like a used bandaid floating in the public pool.
i've also seen violent films marked as "For Kids"(probably because they had no MPAA rating).
I've watched episodes of Air Crash Investigation that were marked as "youtube kids content".
I'm not sure what 3 year old would be watching a documentary about Air France Flight 442, but for some reason it was marked as such.
The first five seconds of the video feels like it came from a deranged tumblr user
As a Tumblr user, we do not claim that
Not tumblr but a capitalist money machine.
average twitter user, you mean
Honestly have seen nothing close to such on Tumblr
I've seen nothing close to that on Tumblr. Maybe from their ads, but not from their users
13:50 That dog sacrificed itself to save the baby, and what does the parent to? Mourn the dog while the baby is still in traffic. I know it's not the takeaway Saberspark wanted me to have after the video, but here we are...
Some of my education came from Animaniacs, Hysteria, School House Rock, The Magic School Bus, Dragon Tales, Between the Lions (sometimes), Zoboomafoo, Sesame Street, and passive fortune-cookie life lessons came from Bob Ross.
Yea, he is the only content farm I respect, in fact, I feel bad calling him a content farm anymore.
@@eclipseRz to be fair the worst it gets is that the chicken nugget exists
Small animator here, I agree that a lot of content farms get undeserved fame but Max Design Pro is not really that bad in comparison.
Yeah because he doesn't post content farms anymore
My niece watch this a lot , but I always try my best to keep her busy, doing activities without phone , UA-cam . Just try my best not to let her always on phone
The issue isn't the content or the parents not monitoring well enough. The problem is that which facilitates this to happen in the first place.
Yes the content is terrible and yes parents do need to try a bit harder, but pointing fingers isn't the answer, plus the real problem is the very system that facilitates these issues to begin with
MAX HAS LORE (and now it’s not brainrot? YAY)
It's a show, with a whole Playset to have at home "so playtime never ends"
Perfect video for that ad haha
Dafuqboom made a whole arc and story. There is war and drama. The first few episodes are brain rot-ish but it quickly becomes its own.
it started as a meme but then he turned it into something bigger and worth watching, too bad the name cant be changed, im sure that's what turn people away from giving it a try
“UA-cam has a brain rot problem.”
Me who’s been watching YTP since he was in Elementary School: *YOUR JUST NOTICING NOW?!*
Okay, I've seen YTPs mentioned a lot and I think theres an important note here;
A lot of them did have sexualized content, a lot of them do use motif jokes, but most of them are still doing something stylized and creative.
@@KatieKat223 Fair point. The Elsagate brain rot cannot compare to Admiral Ackbar’s Traptastic Sextravaganza
At the least TV had standards of educational content it had to reach. These have zero standards.
…Because you can do anything you want on UA-cam.
