Most problems with the faith come from people who never questioned or actually explored it because they never asked themselves those answers either.

For almost 16 years I was the most faithful, devout, God-fearing Christian boy... I was praised for being so nice and kind and generous, for embodying what it meant to be a follower of Jesus. But then cracks that had been long withstanding, unanswered questions, inconsistencies began to widen and suddenly everything fell apart. If I'm a girl, what does the Bible say? If my friends are gay, what will happen to them? If we have free will, why did God control Pharaoh? How did the ark work? It was deeper than a few simple questions, and it was too much. How can one keep one's faith if the item of faith makes no sense and can't be proven? I tried to maintain it, but it fell apart under the words and abuse of people toted as the best Christians around. And what for?
I stared at the sky one night, lying on a vast stretch of grass and thought, how beautiful it is to be free from divine purpose? How marveolous that we're so tiny and inconsequential? How much better are actions motivsted out of genuine love than fear of hell?
I have religeous trauma, but I am myself, my own, and not defined by it or Christianity any longer. And that is freeing.

I am so sorry for what people have made to you, even under the name of Jesus Christ.
My testimony is quite the opposite...
For almost 22 years of my life I was an atheist, and questions like yours is what prevented me from believing in God.
But being an athiest almost got me killed, for purposelesness is a road to suicide... man needs purpose in order to live, and purpose can only come from being created by a creator.
So after many events of my life, I started seeking God, and after seeking Him with all my heart, strength and mind, He came to me and made Himself known through signs and miracles... and then I knew that He is real, He saved my life and He is good.
If you were taught that you should do good out of fear of Hell, you were taught wrong.
The love of God is to love one another, just as He loves us, and there is no spirit of fear that comes from God.
Tell me, what keeps you from trusting in Jesus Christ?
Have you never seen any sign or miracle of His?

@@PowerPlayerz100 Heaven is for forgiven people, people who have been forgiven by God from their sins, through the blood and sacrifice of Jesus Christ and have repented from their sins.
Homosexuality is a sin, for it is not the intended purpose of God for man and woman, and the disobedience of God’s law always brings death and wickedness in the end somehow, which attracts God’s judgement against wickedness.
God allowed homosexuality to exist because man sinned against God and caused corruption in all of creation, corrupting the flesh and the spirit, breaking the link between man and God.
Homosexuality can have a number of causes, like: a past event that made one believe that they are born this way or that they are attracted to the same sex, or it can even be spiritual oppression from a demon.
I have seen a testimony from an ex homosexual that instead of praying to God to take the “gay” away, they asked God why were they gay, and God answered her, showing her past events that led her to believe that she was gay, when in fact she was not.
In the end, she did not feel same sex attraction anymore.

I'm Roman Catholic and am always interested in hearing about other religions. In the Catholic religion, despite how by the rules many claim us to be, is very relaxed and we do things different. We never had to memorize the Bible, just prayers. Our classes went from Kindergarten to 8th grade and the last two years were for confirmation classes. During that time, we chose our patron saint and participated in community service. It's what got me interested in doing it in the first place. I was sure in my faith, but I was always reassured that I had to be sure and I could always pull out if I was unsure. I wish more religions were as understanding.

I grew up in a catholic family. For the first few years of my life, I was the faith believing child. Always believing whatever my mother, father, or priest told me. I even became an alter boy when I was old enough. I went through first communion and confirmation. For me, what started my faith crisis was thinking about the Norse gods from Norse mythology. I started asking myself “if my religion is correct, does that mean that everyone else is wrong? Are Muslims wrong for not being Christian? Are Hindus wrong for believing in multiple gods?” This started me on the path that took me away from my faith. Eventually I left my church and became agnostics. I don’t believe in god, but I didn’t know what was truly out there. Eventually I became an Athiest, but more along the Agnostic side than full Athiest. I don’t believe that there is an afterlife, but I’m not certain of this.

amen !! I have a suggestion for praying though, if you ever don't know what do to. A good way is to read the psalms, and pray them back to God. That may sound a little weird, but the Psalms were originally prayers themselves. You basically just read the words back to God, but in your own voice, thinking of your own hardships or triumphs.

As an autistic girl who grew up in a Christian family (Free Will Baptist) I can kinda relate. Sometimes I’m confused about religion or certain things about it like
“What is my role in the church or in gods kingdom?”,”am i doing this right and being a good Christian?”,”Am I ever going to find love?” Etc. I wasn’t able to read the Bible as a kid, due to me being severely dyslexic growing up. Veggie tales, prince of Egypt, and other Christian media became the only way for me to learn about god and the story’s of the Bible. Heck, in my teens I got this book called the Action Bible, which is the entire bible in comic book form. Honestly, this is the best way for me to read the Bible, because I struggle with reading books due to how they’re layed out. Being a Christian is tough, especially when you’re on the spectrum. Thankfully my family and the people in my Christian community don’t mind me asking questions about the Bible or about god. Heck, God loves it when we ask him questions, so don’t be afraid to ask a question to him about anything. Even tho I may not fully understand god or the Bible or anything like that, i know that god loves me, i know he’ll never forsake me or anything, i know…i belong with god, even tho i sometimes feel like i don’t fit into the church.

I've had similar experiences growing up in a religious jewish environment for over 11 years. Beforehand, i grew up reform and i never really questioned my faith until my mom and stepdad converted me, my oldet brother, and themselves to hasidism. For my parents, they found some kind of joy out of the lifestyle but my brother and i hated it. Despite one of judaism's values being to ask questions, i was never taken seriously about mine by my teachers and i was heavily ostracized by my peers bc of our differences in upbringing. It didn't help i was also neurodivergent and a budding queer (and later trans) individual. One thing that made me denounce my faith was when i opened up to a teacher about my troubles with bullying and my home life and how it wasn't fair that god put me through such pain and all i got back was "god does that to test you because he loves you"; considering the extremely traumatic events i experienced in middle school, it made me despise god since. Nowadays, I understand I've got religious trauma and it's very upsetting when you wanna have some kind of community in your religion but I'm happier practicing my own way. I'm just lucky i had better teachers in high school who took my inquiries more seriously.
