Cat Affinity, -9. You tried to talk to the cat didn't you? "I'm not sure how long we slept, but looks like we only slept for an hour" At the bottom of the screen "You have slept for 8 hours."
A small tip/hint your weapon was never equipped, look at the right side of the screen there is 2 fist/hand icons (equipment hotbar), drag and drop your weapons there like your wooden axe. It took me a day or 2 to figure out why I could never do damage at all. Also another tip be careful of the hotbar on the bottom right, if you equip a item via the 1-9 hotbar, you will throw items/weapons (except for ranged weapons) away by accident if combat suddenly starts. I know I kept throwing my weapons away and they despawn majority of the time.
If it's anything like the original Elona hand-to-hand eventually becomes the most damaging weapon style. You do lose out on the potential enchantments though.
I have over 1k hours in Caves of Qud, over 1k hours in Dwarf Fortress... this is exactly the kind of games that I vibe with! Thank you UA-cam Algorithm for showing this clip in my suggestion.
At the beginning, Lime didn't actually have a weapon equipped. He thought he was using the axe as a weapon but it's just a tool and it wasn't equipped into his weapon slot. I made the same mistake. It's why he started winning once he used the boomerrang because he was using the ranged item properly. If you equip the weapon axe or sword into the weapon slot, then you'll actually swing it instead of your weak fists.
Note: when you trained your skills and stats high enough your bare fist will deal much more damage than any weapons. Since most weapon's damage is relatively fixed, While bare hand damage just scale after stats.
The best part of ELONA was getting a special weapons that whe- "Lets Ragnarock!!", or if you summon Goddes Ehekatl and someone midly damages her-"Mew Mew Mew!"
i've yet to see a sword cooler than in any media. the fucking sword simply starts the apocalypse when you swing it, how can that not be the coolest shit ever. though i have to disagree, the coolest thing in elona was using an atom bomb on a city and reducing it to ash because someone there mildly annoyed you.

For anyone who picks up this game and struggles to stay fed: the beach near the starting meadow has seaweed that doesn't rot, and salt rocks you can mine for spices. The corpses of putit's are made of jelly and likewise don't rot. You can just buy food from inns in towns, but eating food to raise your stats is an important part of growing your character's strength so it's worth looking at different things to find the foods that focus growth on the stats most important for your character. Endurance and Will are both great since they increase your HP which is good for pretty much any character.
Hell nah. I found out about elona back in 2010 when some guy in my class showed me the game on a flashdrive he brought. That I think is what swooped me into Jrpgs from the jump. I never had a chance. My feeble teen mind blown apart by the artistic, detailed, and animate sprites before me. So much so that despite having built and bought 3-4 gaming pcs over the last decade, I have taken an opportunity to install and play elona on each and every single one. And through this video i learned that the fabled sequel actually does exist? Man. What a time to be alive. 14 years since I found my first love, legit half my life, and now she's come back to me. Thanks Lime, good looking out gang.
FINALLY! After playing Elona (prequel) and Elona+ (still prequel but modded by another community) ever since I was a kid, I'm so glad this finally got into a playable state
A tiny tip - you can hold shift and click items to move them quicker to container (like shipping box). Also as somebody pointed out, you actually did not equip your axe. Meele weapons go to slots on the right (you even put the armor there - notice the hand icons above it). Alternatively - dont do that and go with your bare hands. Not only Martial Arts is a skill on its own, there are boxing gloves as dedicated weapon for that.
