It does. But I know for me the front portion of my tongue does naturally lay against the roof of my mouth but the back doesn’t. So I’ve been making a conscious effort to lift the back of my tongue as well.
A round face with chubby cheeks is beautiful. You look younger for a long time. I have chubby cheeks and I love it. Beauty standards ruin everything. Everyone wants to look the same.
I find women and men with round faces to be adorable!! Cuteness is far more appealing to me than pretty or handsome are- I find those two things to be boring and duplicative. Plus, cute, round faces are so charming. I've been doing face yoga to achieve such a face because I see my slender face as rather stale.
Is the back of your tongue up or just the front? I thought I just naturally did this until she explained it. I think she means the whole tongue... maybe?
The main language you speak determines where you tongue sits. English speakers and fast speakers generally place it at the top of their mouth, while slow speakers and languages like Russian and German place it either on the bottom or middle.
After you are done with that though, you need to continue to do proper tongue posture or else everything will start to narrow and lengthen again, especially if you sleep with your mouth open. If you aren't practicing proper tongue posture, your face is always getting worse and will continue to as you age.

I know that I may be too late butt did you generally get a shorter face? Or did the squarish form make it look shorter in comparison. Did yojr midface also get shorter? Since a long midface usually contributes to a face looking long
Im 33, year into mewing, and its amazing how the first week it was difficult for me to do it, and know it is actually really unnatural for me to breath with my mouth open; I do see some change, despite it is way more dramatic for people doing it in their puberty
Teach your kids to do this and the earlier the better. By getting your little ones to positioning their tongue correctly and breathe through their nose this will all their jaw to grow correctly and their teeth to grow and position correctly, eliminating the need to pull teeth and braces! This is something all dentists are fully aware of and yet it’s kept quiet.
I would highly recommend reading Breath by James Nestor if you're a mouth breather. He explains how breathing through your mouth is destroying your life and what you can do about it. It changed my life and I'm really not exaggerating
I really like your channel and this is great. But I also think people should be aware that it's most likely braces /invasilign thay changed your face, although I'm sure the mewing helped too, but not as much as the dental treatment (the alignment of your teeth alters your face shape)
yeah its definitely the invisalign. Having a ‘perfect’ alignment of your teeth can really correct someones jaw and dentist usually tells you if the braces will change ur jaw alignment if you ask them tbh.
@@sjsaad2023 it depends on your face I think. My jaw line became more prominent making my whole face look more balanced. Before mewing the top part of my face was a bit too wide compared to the rest of my face. The most noticeable thing after mewing is my double chin, it reduced so much, almost gone now.
Honestly, I’ve been Mewing since I was a teen (I started 6 years ago), and while my face looks way more defined, I definitely developed jaw issues during the first two years of Mewing. If you do it right though, it should help with your TMJ (as long as you seen clenching your jaw a lot).
Lol, I'm outchea wishing my cheek bones weren't so prominent, and I just realized that I mew naturally. I guess all the make up artists who commented on my perfect cheek bones knew what they were talking about lol.
With my mouth closed naturally, My tounge touches the roof of my mouth naturally, it took effort to not do it, I can't understand how people don't naturally do this. I want to understand 😮
It’s related to the rest of your body as well. In terms of posture, alignment and uprightness of the torso. Ppl who’s tongue falls probably also have poor posture for one reason or another. (Slouch) ppl who’s tongue naturally rest on the roof probably have more upright posture as well.
With my mouth closed naturally my tounge rests down and doesnt touch the roof of my mouth at all. I have to make it push upwards. Thats just how its been all my life and it was mindblowing to find out i was doing it wrong the whole time lol
Thankyou for this video 😊 Anyone watching this if you don’t naturally keep your tongue at the top of your mouth. You may also be a mouth breather when you sleep. This is extremely bad for your overall health. There are ways to overcome mouth breathing by taping your mouth at night and mewing by day. Wishing you lots of luck.
It’s more comfortable than improper posture once you get used to it. It may not change your overall face, but your face from certain angles will look so much more symmetrical after.
I think as women who’ve been conditioned to think only CERTAIN features look good... The road to looking our best must start with understanding that the standards set are BULLSHIT. Why I mention this is cause young me really wanted to not have a round face either. I wanted a more chiseled feline look cause I thought that’s what guys liked and the whole “outer beauty” deciding our worth thing. I’m 26 now and been loving my natural facial and physical features since the past 2-3 years. I maintain it by taking good care of it, but I aim to love it as it is and never reach a point to want to change it drastically to feel beautiful. I know I already am.
yes ive been mewing since i was a kid actually and it really does work but something that i think people should really know before they try mewing tho is that because it can really change your bone structure you have to be careful about how you place it because i always placed it right begin my two top front teeth and what that did was it made them protrude a bit more from the original row. It isn't a problem at the beginning because just that happening doesnt make it look like rabbit teeth or anything and actually makes your top row of teeth a perfect semi circle but after that what happens is the teeth on the either side of your front teeth become the ones that rest on your bottom teeth and the top front teeth are actually on top of the bottom ones. so your top teeth can then grow until the root of your bottom teeth and the bottom teeth can also grow to the root of your top teeth, your bottom canines protrude in a dog like or canine (lol) way to accommodate the teeth beside your two front top teeth because the entire weight of your top jaw falls on those teeth. This means that anytime you try to make your top and bottom front teeth or bunny teeth align it will look like you are baring your teeth or growling
interesting that I came across this. My orthodontist told me yesterday that i should start putting my tongue at the roof of my mouth to aid in my breathing habits.
By mewing u cn have lesser chnce of pushing downwrd cos the tongue force will hold the face up check some people whose face doesnt drop mch when they age dey have pproper oral posture beauty n health are related
@@ofthelight9480 I'm thinking he knew it promoted forward and upward growth of the upper jaw (maxilla). OP probably had an overbite or deep bite. He didn't want her to promote her own forward growth so that the lower jaw (mandible) would "catch up". This is completely backward because once you tell a bodily system to stop in one spot, the other spots either stop or overcompensate. If she needed her mandible to grow forward, she probably just needed to maintain contact with her molars to tell the mandible to follow the maxilla. Her neck muscles also should've been strengthened to push the mandible up and forward as it's guided by contact with the maxilla. Lots of info, I know and I'm sorry. This doesn't even scratch the surface to the deep yet fluid science of human skeletal development. Please do some research and get to know your own body
@@magicunicorn8423 The trick is to keep the tongue tip in the "ninety-nine spot". If you say "ninety-nine" and feel where the tip touches, that's where it should always be resting. This will prevent any tipping force on the teeth and encourage forward and upward growth of the maxilla, not the teeth themselves
Wow there are so many things people will do to achieve the current beauty standard. I mean do whatever makes you happy. That being said I like chubby cheeks they’re nice 🥰
When I saw the word mewing ..I was like isn't that , that tongue thing? That I actually have been doing also for the past couple /few years? Lmao never knew the name but knew the technique was an instant game changer ..you do see the difference right away and it helps frame your face..like a natural face lift but it's still you just a bit chiseled lol.. especially helps if you gave a rounder face
Funny thing is, I've been unconsciously mewing for about 6 years now. I noticed the difference (Pronounced facial features, sharper jawline, reduced double chin, etc). I have a naturally round face, but it's more...umm... "sculpted" now, even though it's still round. And now, I CANNOT make my tongue rest, even if I try. It's always pressed up against the roof of my mouth, even when I'm not talking. I noticed it while watching this video. Weird😂

Completely lost. Completely. My jaw is not defined and yet I’m constantly with my tongue pressed up against the roof of my mouth. I do know, as you age, typically ppl lose collagen at their jaw line and it naturally hollows... I’m moving my tongue, pressing it... I’m feeling ridiculous... there’s nowhere more to go!! 🙃🤣🙃

It makes me feel lucky that my tongue naturally rests at the roof of my mouth.😄 I did not know it was called mewing. And yes, my facial structure is more defined (like my cheekbones and jawline). My friends say that I naturally have a good facial structure. My face looks slim even though I am a lil bif fat 😄 That being said, I am not saying that I am beautiful or feeling proud. yeah its definitely the invisalign. Having a ‘perfect’ alignment of your teeth can really correct someones jaw and dentist usually tells you if the braces will change ur jaw alignment if you ask them tbh.
I did this for about 3 years and I definitely see a difference
My face became so much more symmetrical. It was worth the effort.
Does it widen the face or slimming the face?
@@sjsaad2023 it depends on your face I think. My jaw line became more prominent making my whole face look more balanced. Before mewing the top part of my face was a bit too wide compared to the rest of my face. The most noticeable thing after mewing is my double chin, it reduced so much, almost gone now.
@@hydratheorganism9639 so it makes face thin???
I've been mewing semi-consistenly for around 2 years now and I see and feel my jaw got more defined and wider for sure
Age ?
I naturally do this and I have a straight jaw (my cheeks bones aren't that prominent though, probably genes). I never knew this was called "mewing"
Your jaw is gorgeous!
You went from pretty to beautiful
i opened this video wondering what the hell is that ??? 💀💀once you explained it i already do it lol
It shows 🥺
@@shaneanfriends 🥲thanks !
Mewing helped me get rid of my deviated septum. I can actually breathe now and my nose is more lifted. Bless
GREAT VID!! Honestly, I think mewing can help with my TMJ. 🤔
Dr. Mike says it isn't good for ppl with server TMJ. Not sure what your severity is, but I would do a little bit more research.
@@Jeannette0890 oh, my TMJ is pretty bad 😅. It’s awful. At this point I’m learning to live with it.
Hahaha for me its the exact opposite 🥲
It’s related to the rest of your body as well. In terms of posture, alignment and uprightness of the torso. Ppl who’s tongue falls probably also have poor posture for one reason or another. (Slouch) ppl who’s tongue naturally rest on the roof probably have more upright posture as well.
With my mouth closed naturally my tounge rests down and doesnt touch the roof of my mouth at all. I have to make it push upwards. Thats just how its been all my life and it was mindblowing to find out i was doing it wrong the whole time lol
I wanna mew but I don’t want my jaw to get bigger from straight point of view , so I don’t know what to do
My tongue hits the roof of my mouth naturally and I have really high cheekbones 🧐
I don’t really understand mewing. Seems to only really work for people who already have defined jaw structures lol.
No, thats not true u can search orthotropics on reddit or youtube to find out more
cap. I've done it and it at the least allows me to breathe better if you didn't get anything from it.
“ah, yes, my tongue is touching the roof of my mouth” made me chuckle.
I literally been doing this for years without realising it was a thing. It's actually a stress response of mine I think.
Seriosly me too. I used to do it when I was more stressed and weirdly I looked much better that year 😂 Now I’m going to do it always 😅
Thankyou for this video 😊
Anyone watching this if you don’t naturally keep your tongue at the top of your mouth. You may also be a mouth breather when you sleep. This is extremely bad for your overall health. There are ways to overcome mouth breathing by taping your mouth at night and mewing by day.
Wishing you lots of luck.
Girl you better not be lying cause I'm gonna give it a go. Don't wanna waste 2 years putting my tongue in an uncomfortable position.
😅
It help if you get one of those chin straps that go around your head. Amazon.
Me too...
Once you start doing it it just happens subconciously
Omg!!! I was just wondering how can I make my face more defined!! And I have a round face too girrrlll you give me hope!!!😭💖🙌🏻
Out faces tend to slim down and get more defined as we age. How do you know these results are not just part of the natural aging process?
By mewing u cn have lesser chnce of pushing downwrd cos the tongue force will hold the face up check some people whose face doesnt drop mch when they age dey have pproper oral posture beauty n health are related
My orthodontist attached metal prongs to the roof of my mouth to stop me from doing this, and now people are doing it purposely 🤯
Could you explain why please? What are their thoughts on this?
Why???
Hey..if u do it a lot might lead to anterior tongue thrusting at a young age, and gove ypu buck teeth
Anybody feel their tongue way too much now?
When I saw the word mewing ..I was like isn't that , that tongue thing? That I actually have been doing also for the past couple /few years? Lmao never knew the name but knew the technique was an instant game changer ..you do see the difference right away and it helps frame your face..like a natural face lift but it's still you just a bit chiseled lol.. especially helps if you gave a rounder face
She didn't talk about forward growth, most of people must be here for that!
Weird😂
What made you mew?
@@dianneazarraga3989 I don't really remember. I think I just started doing it whenever I took photos, because it made my chin look nicer. Then it became a habit
@@MarieAnnAdae haha nice tip. Will do that when doing selfies 😄
Age ?
I love your face shape.
I do this naturally. It actually takes a lot of effort for me to just let my tongue be floppy lol I can’t do it😅🥴
Iv been mewing for 3 months now and lately have extra saliva production making me have to swallow all the time ? Anyone else run into this and find out how to stop all the extra saliva build up during mewing ?
Completely lost. Completely. My jaw is not defined and yet I’m constantly with my tongue pressed up against the roof of my mouth. I do know, as you age, typically ppl lose collagen at their jaw line and it naturally hollows... I’m moving my tongue, pressing it... I’m feeling ridiculous... there’s nowhere more to go!! 🙃🤣🙃
I've been trying to do this but nowni realized i was doing it wrong! Thanks for this
I've practiced Anti-Mewing....and now I have double chin. .
Also could be the extra donuts I eat.
I can't tell if my tongue is naturally at the roof of my mouth or if this video is influencing that.😅I'll have to come back after I figure out if it's natural
Holy shit I've been mewing unintentionally 🤣 no wonder why my face is getting more definition🤦🏽♀️
I don't know why this is on my recommendations but for the record...
...
I prefer the BEFORE pic. The after looks masculine.
Wow. This is natural for me. I have very defined cheekbones and a sharp jawline.
Howww you look so pretty after😩😍💞
Wait my tongue is always on the roof of my mouth. Huh. So that is whyyyyyy good to know
I NEVER KNEW THIS WAS A THING!!
I wasnt concious of this till after hs i believe. Almost 2yrs of mewing and yesss difference is there :)))
I knew this thing before , but I was like 50\50 , now will do my best
A lot of people remove Wisdom Teeth. I think a babyface looks more youthful
So she had a slim v face and after too much mewing her face got less slim or more slim ? Looking at the thumbnail I can’t tell which one is the before and after picture . The picture on the right side made it look like her face got a lot wider in the jawline and checks , mostly lower part of face .
Ahh I almost choked and got anxious while doing this I’m good 😂😩
i feel you😂😂😂
Is there a way to reverse this!? I hate how its made my face wider
I am saying that mewing works and makes your face more defined. 😄
Where are the before and after pics?
You look literally the same to me in both pix. You’re gorgeous & will look youthful & healthy much longer than ppl with just cheekbones. Prominent cheekbones without face fat kinda age ppl.. think about when ppl get injections... they look about 10-20yrs older! Godbless ♥️
whaaaaaaaat bzt she looks better in the left???????
Please what are you wearing in the video? Is it a denim shirt/ jumpsuit? I love it!
HOW DO U BREATH? Why is it cutting my airway?
Okay, that's why I love my old time face more. Soft younger look is more desirable in my society.. Cheek bones reduction surgery is more common than fillers to a more define look.
I naturally mewing, so.. I have to stop that habit no matter what.
Where do you live can I come 😱
I was naturally doing it but this video is so precise I will improve it. Cause sometimes I might not notice it. So I think I learned awareness from this video. Thanks
But I can't breathe during mewing
Wait where do yall put your tongue? :D I was never aware I did this
Creepy how this popped up on my youtube after I Googled ALF appliances for my kid.. which essentially addresses these same issues!
I love the first face
Guilty mouth breather with chubby cheeks and double chin 🙈 will try this out as have tried pretty much everything to slim my face down.
Excellent results! And great presentation of mewing too! :)
Dude i do this naturally without noticing all my life and my jaw is square i hate it honetly i want round or heart shaped face😪 but i heard it's healty but i don't want sponge bob face. 😢
