That was a pretty neat place to visit. The museum and the architecture was really neat. That roadside walk to get there looked pretty scary though. That sidewalk was so close to the vehicles on the road. Awesome sunset views with the grass and barbed wire fence. Love the glow on the grass. Looked like a lovely evening drinking wine and enjoying the sights. Interesting story and great footage of the plane. It is pretty neat to see these old aircraft. Looked like you had a fun trip to a lovely location. Have a great day.
Thanks Steve. Yes we’ve found a lot of footpaths and pavements like that lately. A bit dodgy!! That site was wonderful. They have an air show each year at the aerodrome and so we’re hoping to book that weekend so we get a great views of everything!! Have a great rest of the week 👍👍
Loved your tribute to the spitfire owners, such a sad story but you did them proud Dave and Sue, that aviator place looked nice as did the cl safe travels guys 👊👍🏴🚌🥰
Fabulous Vlog. You found a cracking CL. Then the walk to two watering holes, who would complain about that ! Enjoyed your story about the Spitfire. Tinged with happiness and sadness but always a special occasion when you see or hear one in the sky. Safe travels 😃👍🏻🚐💙 Trev n Sue
Thanks guys. 🙏🙏. Yes we’ve discovered some little gems on this trip. This one especially and so close to home!! The owner was so helpful and the other campers were so friendly. And with the beautiful weather, it made for the perfect stay. And then the Spitfire was the icing on the cake. Love that plane! Have a lovely Sunday Trev and Sue. 👍👍
I hate those narrow roads and always have my fingers crossed there is nothing coming down the other way when I have to drive down one of them. The Aviator looked amazing and what's not like indeed, great place for a drink, chill out and enjoy the weather. Amazing sun set and great to see the spitfire (shame about the two backstories but great what his son is now doing) fly over in the morning and you retained that great weather too. Cheers Alan
Cheers Alan. Yep k ow what you mean about narrow roads. We just got stuck on a lane in Norfolk in the Motorhome. The other driver wasn’t for moving so we had to back up for about 200 yards 🤦🏻♂️. By the time we’d finished there was about seven cars behind him and ten behind us 😃😃 Have a good week mate.
Hey Dave & Sue, I totally get the struggle! 😂 Rectory Farm CL looks like an amazing spot to relax with a glass of wine and enjoy that stunning sunset. The Grace Spitfire flyby must have been incredible. Thanks for sharing such a lovely spot with us! Cheers, Simon - Tales From Abroad
Cheers Simon. Yes it was an absolutely lovely spot. Really good price too and the Spitfire fly past was the icing on the cake!! Hope you’re doing well mate 👍👍👍
What a spot to take it that gorgeous sunset 😊 that looked a fantastic evening, wine and a beautiful sky. Great to hear about the spitfire and it’s importance to your family. You got some fab shots of it flying above you.
Cheers Yasmin. Yep it was an absolutely wonderful little campsite. We had a brilliant stay. And the Spitfire fly past was the icing on the cake. We really love that Spitfire! Have a lovely Sunday Yasmin 👍👍
Beautiful campsite dave, what a fantastic pub the aviator is, and lovely scene with the setting sun and wine glasses. Loved the spitfire story tinged with sadness, a remarkable site. Hope you are both well, All the best, Ivor
Thanks mate. Yes a beautiful little campsite. We will definitely go back there. We met a couple of older (even older than me) ladies in a caravan there. They had been staying there many times when their husbands were alive. And there was a memorial bench around a tree to their husbands. Apparently, in early March 2020, they asked the owner if he would mind them staying on the site when Covid hit as they would feel safer there. The owner agreed and let them stay free of charge through until March 21. A lady from the village brought them supplies and left them at the gate. We will definitely be back there sometime!
Looks such a wonderful place. We nearly had our wedding reception at the aviator and love your section on the spitfire! Always going to be a very special aircraft to us 🥰 another adventure tomorrow! 🎉
Hi Dave and Sue, Egh, we see exactly what you mean guys, van life looks awful, beautiful sunsets, chilled glass of vino and lush green fields, who wouldn't struggle with that combo?!🤣🤣. Joking aside, this cl looked perfect, we love being by an airfield, we use to camp at Shobdon airfield, and we would walk down and watch the planes, it was great fun. The aviator pub looked brilliant too 🍻 🛩👍. Have to say, we were really moved by the story of the spitfire, both by your lovely tribute to the owners, and by your own connection with it. How lovely it must have been to see it the day you said goodbye to your dad ❤. As we have said before, Pete's late dad also shared a love of the mighty spitfire, so thank you for sharing that story with us guys🥰. Hope you are having a good week, look forward to your next adventure 🎶😊. Shell and Pete 😊👊👍
Thanks so much Shell and Pete Yes this vanlife lark has been brilliant. We honestly didn’t realise how much we love being out in Florrie. We’re off to Norfolk with the family for the weekend but we’ve just booked a free random field with no facilities on the way for tomorrow night! 😃 Yep that Spitfire is amazing and it was so cool to see it over our daughter’s wedding. It was brilliant display and Richard Grace (Carolyn’s son) did her proud that afternoon. We were really choked up when we found out she had also been killed in a car crash! 😨 So seeing it flying around still has been awesome! Hope your week is doing ok guys and thank you as always for being so kind to us! 🙏🙏
Glad you two were able to find the Aviator pub eventually - it was definitely worth the views. That sunset really was lovely with that field! It was great hearing your connections to the Gray Spitfire. The struggle was real in this one - glad you two were able to bear with vanlife for our sakes!
🤣🤣. Thanks Donna. We really did have a great time at this wonderful little site. The weather made it really special!! And it was so so cool to get dived on by that Spitfire - felt like we were at an air show. Have a lovely Sunday you two. 👍👍👍
Nice video! This looks like a beautiful location with great views during golden hour! It’s great you managed to spot the spitfire too - well done! Thanks for sharing
Happy Friday Dave and Sue! I hope you are going places this weekend and have the chance to enjoy wine in a beautiful place again. It was fun to see the Aviator - the Art Deco architecture is just stunning and it suits an aerodrome so well. So I am hoping for a revival of that kind of design (there is probably a bigger chance that the RAF will buy Spitfires than that will happen). And seeing Grace in the air and hearing how it is related to your days of both sorrow and happiness is profound. I can imagine that just the sound of a Merlin engine in the air makes memories come back to live. And as you have told before Grace has quite a story and which is also filled with sorrow, but she is still flying up there! So have a great weekend and I am looking forward to hearing about your experience with another icon - namely THE BOSS:) All the best, Ant
Ha cheers Ant. The Merlin engine has such an iconic sound doesn’t it! There is a final lone Lancaster over here which was joined a few years back by the last one from the US. Seeing and hearing eight Merlin engines together was an experience I won’t forget in a hurry!! A real one off experience. Yes I too love the Art Deco architecture- so iconic!! Springsteen was incredible - as always - and we had a brilliant night. We’re in deepest Norfolk this weekend and for the first time no decent signal. But it’s very beautiful here. Have a brilliant weekend mate.
It sure is a rough life! 😂😂 Glad you’re figuring it out!! Another great campsite, fun to walk around and explore - maybe more walking than expected, but you didn’t get lost! The Aviator is really cool - great design and a fun place for lunch. Super cool that you got to see the Spitfire. 👌 Have a great weekend guys! ☀☀🌻🌻
Thanks Jen. You too. Yes it was a brilliant little campsite and such a great area. We’ve discovered so many gems lately! The Aviator is great - normally there are more planes flying in and out but it was brilliant to see the Spitfire taking passengers for the trip of a lifetime on our last day there We really are lucky to be able to do this!
What a great looking place. Would love to one day have a flight in a Spitfire, such an iconic plane. Some lovely stories (although tinged with sadness) about that particular Spitfire. And a beautiful sunset to end the day. I can see why you are really struggling with Vanlife haha. Great video.
Thanks Jay mate Our Son in Law got to fly in it. He had always wanted to and lived the dream. Our daughter saved up for years to give him the chance. He was training to get his pilots licence and was a le to take the controls for a few fast turns. Flippin eck would love to fly in it too Jay!!

We're finally getting caught up on your videos, starting with this one. Love the Spitfire! We're planning to go back next year to a WWII airshow we've been to a few times (one of which I've shared in an earlier video from footage I shot in 2015 - long before we started our channel - from when I took our oldest daughter for a high school graduation gift).
That is very cool Dale. We’re hoping to book this site for the weekend of their annual Air show next Summer. They haven’t set the date yet so we’re hoping it doesn’t clash with other plans we have. You just can’t beat watching these glorious planes in a display can you!! Have a wonderful Sunday you guys.
@@NBNatureTrailvan oh I hope, for your sake, the date doesn't clash. It truly is amazing to watch these old warbirds in flight. It doesn't get old for me. We at least know the dates of the airshow we'll be attending as they have it on the first weekend of June every year. I've never seen a Spitfire in person, though. That would be a real treat. Might need to check the dates on Carolyn Grace. Love the sound of a Spitfire.
