Love your question regarding ingredient penetration. I would take it one step further in asking about how the cells 'communicate' with each other. For example, if I put a small dab of Retinol on my cheeks, then spread it around, by the time my fingers get to the lower cheek/jawline area, very little (if any) of the retinol product is being applied to the skin surface. Will the cells which are receiving the 'heavier' product application spread those benefits to the areas receiving very minimal/none of the product (hopefully that makes sense). Would also love Dr. Idriss to go into a little more background info when she says one brand is less desirable than another ... example: why one brand of micellular water is better to use/does a better job (Bioderma) than another (Garnier)(I may not have the brands correct). I'm indian. Bought the purito one when I had severe acne due to lack of vitamin D..I was using adapalene which caused my skin to peel nd become extremely sensitive to touch and red.. Even putting g water or sweat used to burn. Only thing that would soothe my skin is the purito sleeping mask.. That's when I fell in love with it. Since it's my first cream on ceramide, so I can't compare it.. But it's a good one. Just leaving it here for anyone looking for personal experiences.
Add someone who had a broken skin barrier I suggest the CeraVe night renewing cream or the Walgreens version. I use CeraVe at night and the store brand in the morning. But if you're on a tight budget I suggest mixing the la-roche posay triple lipid ap Baum and the regular CeraVe moisturizer and just sealing it in with Vaseline. These all work the same if you get the exact products or do something very similar. Also if you wanna spend more the Skin fix triple lipid plus cream is so so similar to the skinceuticals one. Money is an important factor and that's why I take care of my skin at home and learn my ingredients. Also I'm thinking of going back to esthetician school this time a good school one they a doesn't get shut down
Shiny/dewy, I think you look radiant!Have you tried a more blue-red (like a blood red)? I think that would look amazing on you. YSL’s tattouage couture are my lifelong favorites, highly recommend.
Maybe I'm late to the party, but an honorable mention is the Spanish company Niche Beauty. They have 3 ceramide products. A moisturizer and 2 serums. One even has 3% ceramide, which I haven't seen in other brands yet. I know: more isn't always better, but in this case it is. It instantly calms and heals my skin. Maybe it's worth looking into it.
I've been using curel daily body lotion for years, and my skin can never be thankful enough for it. It also contains ceramide that helps keep my skin hydrating for hours during winter.

I am in desperate need of some hair care product recommendations! The what, why and how! Shampoos/conditioners/ leave in/masks etc! I would also love for this to be in a longer video with some ingredient pointers/knowledge. You have amazing videos for skincare but I would love to deep dive into good hair care as well!
Dr. Idriss, the packaging looks very high end, which is what I expect coming from you!!! Now I am curious, if you would be so kind to do a video on Ablative Laser skin resurfacing, including the reduction of sun damage, combined with PRP. I have witnessed it first hand probably a dozen times. But at age 69, it will be for me this time, and things might have evolved over the past four years since I was in an office while it occurred. Whatever you decide, I will be back with my hands folded on my desk patiently waiting for your next class to begin. Seriously though, you do an extraordinary job explaining in depth for all your little skin nerds, every aspect, every detail, and effects of the areas you chose to cover that NO ONE CAN TOUCH YOU. As someone who hates being second, that quality is admirable, and necessary today. You know you're good Dr. Idriss, but you still need to hear it from us, and I have no hesitation in spelling it out. Have a wonderful week!
RNW ceramide plus serum is AMAZING! All the ceramides, 8 peptides, niacinamide, oat extract, beta-glucan, squalane and more. Non greasy and not expensive. I live by the arctic circle and winters are really cold and dry and that serum is my holy grail. Cant live without it during winter
I've never heard of the Minimalist brand, but the rest of the ingredients in this moisturizer are also great... especially at that price! So happy to have discovered them because of you!
Your videos are THE BEST!! Can you please do a long video about the dangers (and any positives) about essential oils in skincare, especially when it comes to the face?
Hi doc, can you do a video addressing the issue of retinoid usage around the eyes might cause damage on meibomian glands as stated by some eye doctors online? I saw some opthalmologists or eye doctors online telling people to avoid retinoids around eyes because you can damage the meibomian glands, not damaging the skin but the eyes.
Yes, that would be interesting. Avene has an eye product that include retinaldehyde, so a clip on retinoid usage around the eyes would address concerns that some of us have. Merci!
@@nadoh6253 Yes, because most dermatologists avoid having to talk about the effects on the eyes (meibomian glands) , and only talk about the potential sensitivity skin wise. Some eye doctors online even go extra length by saying that even retinoid eye creams are also not safe to be put close to the eyes, not because of the skin sensitivity but because of some people develop meibomian glands dysfunction due to retinoid usage around eyes.
I know this is a little different, but it would be interesting to see a roundup of your favorite stylevana and korean beauty favorites. This video made me think of all the ceramide sunscreens, ceramide ampoules, and sven the blue purito pump ceramide moisturizer! K beauty has become such a staple for me

Hello!!! Skin nerd here!!! 🤓First of all, your skin always looks flawless, shiny or not! ✨ have you ever heard of skin care ingredients that shouldn’t go around the eyes, that can cause meibomian gland, dysfunction, or dry eyes? I have been diagnosed with blepharitis, ocular rosacea, and demodex mites in my eyes. I know it sounds gross but so real. Ugh! 🤪 My skin now feels irritated on my face with slight redness. Borderline rosacea. This all happened to my eyes and skin one month after doing a parasite gut cleanse… which I know sounds even weirder than all the eye issues. So now I am left with blurry vision, double vision, and Extreme dry eyes to where I can no longer wear make up or my contact lenses and it’s been a year of this going on. 😢 I’m sharing my story because I think it’s so important for people to know the ingredients and skin care and you are the expert and that there are people out there that have skin issues and dry eye conditions and they all seem to correlate… I am learning that these eye conditions and rosacea and skin issues go hand-in-hand. I am now receiving IPL on my eyes and face to try to help with all of these eye issues and skin issues. I’ve heard that RetinA, Retinal or any kind of retinol’s, parabens or Phenoexythanenol can cause mibomian gland dysfunction, and clog up, tear ducts and cause severe dry eyes. Sorry for the long message just thought maybe you could shed some light and help all out there with these issues. Lastly, I would like to order your vitamin C cream that has ceramides in it. With all that I have told you do you think that would be good for my skin? I feel like my barrier has been compromised because of all of this and I found out the current one I am using has some of these ingredients in it that are bad for dry eyes. I notice yours does not have those bad ingredients. Please let me know. Thank you so much! One of your new nerds!! 😜😊
Would love to see a video on microneedling procedure (in office, not at home) - benefits, who should do it, etc. possibly short video? I would also love a video on scalp care. Specifically for people with seborrheic dermatitis on their scalp. Possibly long video? Thanks so much ❤
Also, PHENOXYETHANOL seems to be in every face product these days, but EWG gives it a 4 and I also have heard it can trigger eczema!!! Can you do a short on this ingredient? THANK YOU!! You are THE SKIN QUEEN!
I love being a “shiny mess”, personally! And you look beautiful! The red suits you very well. Thank you for the video! As a 21 old with a small budget, I try to spend money very consciously, but skincare is really is my (not guilty) pleasure! So, I am trying to really narrow down the “basics” for myself, and these “ingredients” types of videos really help with it! Thanks.
Please please *PLEASE* do a Long-form video on Psoriasis!!! 🙏🌟 I swear Psoriasis is the most overlooked skin condition, by All brands and any Derm that has an online presence. I know it's likely because Psoriasis is an auto-immune issue as well as just manifesting on the skin, and is Incredibly difficult to treat, due to underlying issues and really needing to see a patient in a clinic/office-setting. But people with Psoriasis want good skin too!! And they want to be able to use products that will have As Much of an impact on their skin as is Realistically possible. Many Psoriasis sufferers literally live their lives hiding away. And there's so much judgement and stigma and Shame associated with it. Please do a deep-dive on it!! What it is, the structure of the skin, the other immune issues, treatments that work, things that should 100% be Avoided, Products that will help calm inflammation... etc. That would be an amazing gift to people with Psoriasis, Dr Idriss 🙏🌟🎄

Or what does “permanent” mean in this case
Hii Dr. Shereene! ✨💕😊🙏 Can you please share some topical ways of treating droopy lips and smile lines for a person in their 30's ? that would be very helpful !!
I have been using your new line and I absolutely love it. I’m out of the moisturizer and almost out of the serum. I have put an order in for January. I ended up getting 1 Major Fade Solution Set, 2 Moisturizers, and 2 serums, I don’t want to run out again. I’ve told a couple of my friends who have melasma, if I’m feeling generous, I may share some of mine, but we’ll see 😜

Hi Dr. Shereene! Often people from ethic backgrounds can suffer from discoloration on the body, including darker knees, elbows, ankles. Could you please suggest what the best treatment would be to even out the skin tone in those areas? Thank you!
I love thick balms. I love slathering on laroche posay and layering cerave healing balm on top. Wake up with very glowing skin. I’ll check out this others you mentioned here.
Most of Cosmetic Brands especially in India refer ceramide as 1,2,3,4,5,6 ...and so on . 1 Hydrophilic - Ceramide AP (Ceramide 6 ) - Ceramide NP (Ceramide 3) 2 Hydrophobic - Ceramide EOS (Ceramide 1) - Ceramide EOP ( Ceramide 4) - Ceramide NS (Ceramide 2)
@@jr-pr9lw Your comment helped me realize that I’d misstated about the cleanser. It doesn’t contain ceramides but works well for me. The ceramide containing cleansers are from Pacifica Beauty and Ceramedx.

Indian brands like Be Minimalist, Deconstruct, Derma Co, Dr Seth's, Concious Chemist, Chemist at Play, Sugandha, Plum, Dot & Key, and others, have some marvellous skincare products that seem to rival the international ones. Following you, made me realise how important the INCI list is for any skincare product. Lots of love.

I would love to hear about skincare for those with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome bc our bodies make poor quality collagen and tends to be very sensitive (bruise easily, poor wound healing, hyper mobile joint). But increasing collagen production doesn’t change that we still make poor quality collagen.
I agree with you on the sensitive skin. My skin is very soft (thanks EDS lol) but my cheeks in particular are incredibly sensitive to products and can burn and sting and flush, which is making adding anti-aging products a bit more complicated.
I'll second the recommendation for Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30. It's part of my sunscreen rotation for days that I won't be spending much time in the sun, and figured it would work double duty. Thank you Doctor.

I would love to see a video on the "hydra facial" procedure. I had a negative experience resulting in a comprised barrier. Would love to hear your take on such facial treatment. Love your content! Thank you :)
I was recently diagnosed with rosacea on my cheeks and chin. I’m so paranoid that something is going to irritate my skin that I’ve stopped putting anything on it! No more retinol or acids. I do get a monthly chemical peel at my derm but that’s it. I’m worried that I’m actually neglecting my skin from an anti-aging standpoint. Would love a video on your recommendations for taking care of rosacea and what products won’t make it angry 😊
Show idea: How can people with Rosacea, Eczema, extremely dry skin, etc. safely use retinoids? Typical advice is that we shouldn't, but there HAS to be a way!
I have rosacea, reactive and dry skin and I love Geek and Gorgeous A-game 5. It's a fragrance free retinaldehyde with a short ingredient list. I started with using it every 3 days.
Thanks for reviewing the minimalist! I usually don't find the products mentioned in my country, and even if you find some Korean skincare from Innisfree, Cosrx, etc they end up being too expensive.
The most important thing with lipids for preservation is really oxydation, so the top of tubes or wathever exposed to oxygen will change texture if not used fast enough 😊

I wish your moisturiser for fungal acne safe and reasonably priced , suitable for highly sensitive dehydrated acne prone skin that can't tolerate harsh ingredients
Can you speak to the fact of cost in ceramide formulations? In one of your prior videos about repairing the skin barrier, you were talking about SkinCeuticals' Triple Lipid Repair moisturizer and how it's a very expensive product but ceramides are very expensive to formulate.
As a sensitive soul, I’d love a short review on Vanicream’s new products: Vitamin C Serum and Facial Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30
Your flawless skin is always so satisfying to watch lol
I've been using curel daily body lotion for years, and my skin can never be thankful enough for it. It also contains ceramide that helps keep my skin hydrating for hours during winter.
I had an emergency total hysterectomy a couple of months ago. My skin is already becoming more dry and sensitive. Please discuss changes in the skin during menopause. As well as what we can use and or do to correct these changes. Thank you! Happy Holidays & Many blessings!💖💖💖
Thank you for another wonderful video - i'm learning so much! I would love to hear more about everyday hair care, especially for wanting to grow it long and preventing or repairing broken or very dry ends. 💕
I didn't hear a word you said for 6 minutes I had to start it over. Why? I was in a trance at how GORGEOUS your skin is. I mean WOW! 😍🙌❤️💎
Cant live without it during winter
what is the non-abbreviated name of the serum?
K beauty has become such a staple for me
I’d love for you to a video on chemical peels or a video dedicated to how to treat darker skin tones 🥰
Thank you so much for this information! Also, today I received my second purchase of your Fade system and your signed valentine card! It absolutely made my week! I continue to love and use all three products! So, so happy with the results thus far.
Thank for making this video after work eventough u must be exausted🙌 Could you do a video about antioxidants other than vit C pls? I also would LOVE videos about the hair, or like analizing hair product like shampoos, olaplex 3 o K18 Thank you very much greetings from Barcelona!
Dr. Idriss, firstly, thank you. I would love to see a long video talking about Hair/Scalp products (what do we really need in our routine; scalp oiling; etc.).
Thanks so much ❤
Long, short bring it on. Love them both
Vanicreams facial moisturizer is an excellent choice. It comes with all 5 ceramides and squalane. Its a staple in our house.
I would love to see a long format video about a skin care regime for Sensitive, Acne-Prone Skin. Thank youuuu 😊🤍
My favourite ceramide cream remains Illiyoon ATO ceramide cream 🥰
Huuuge packaging and so affordable. Best value for money. Great on the body too.
Also, PHENOXYETHANOL seems to be in every face product these days, but EWG gives it a 4 and I also have heard it can trigger eczema!!! Can you do a short on this ingredient? THANK YOU!! You are THE SKIN QUEEN!
Most dermatologist see EWG as bogus.
Thanks.
Skinfix has an amazing moisturizer with ceramides, it's thick and with a pump. Love it.
Please please *PLEASE* do a Long-form video on Psoriasis!!! 🙏🌟
I swear Psoriasis is the most overlooked skin condition, by All brands and any Derm that has an online presence.
Best skincare channel- love Dr. Shereene Idress!
Long video if possible on trifarotene 🙏
Shorts:
• do silver pillowcases actually work?
• best types serums for oily skin (with and without niacinamide bc a lot of products already have this ingredient usually)
• microneedling for acne scars and rosacea, realistic expectations after one session, frequency, are the results really not permanent for acne scars? Or what does “permanent” mean in this case
Hii Dr. Shereene! ✨💕😊🙏
Can you please share some topical ways of treating droopy lips and smile lines for a person in their 30's ? that would be very helpful !!
I have been using your new line and I absolutely love it. I’m out of the moisturizer and almost out of the serum. I have put an order in for January. I ended up getting 1 Major Fade Solution Set, 2 Moisturizers, and 2 serums, I don’t want to run out again. I’ve told a couple of my friends who have melasma, if I’m feeling generous, I may share some of mine, but we’ll see 😜
Has it helped with your Melasma spots? Looking into trying it out! xx
Thank you so much for providing the most incredibly amazing data on skincare!! Ceramides have helped me a lot with my damaged skin barrier. Absolutely absolutely love your videos!!!❤
I watch all your videos with one of the reason, I love how your skin is maintained, just spotless. How?❤
Hey, Thank you so much. I would love to talk to you but unfortunately I can’t find you in telegram channel.
Talk about profhilo ! If it’s beneficial for the face and worth giving the treatment a go!!
Hi Dr. Shereene! Often people from ethic backgrounds can suffer from discoloration on the body, including darker knees, elbows, ankles. Could you please suggest what the best treatment would be to even out the skin tone in those areas? Thank you!
Dr vanita rattan does videos especially on this topic. I'd definitely recommend seeing her channel - love her research and the care she puts into skin
1 Hydrophilic
- Ceramide AP (Ceramide 6 )
- Ceramide NP (Ceramide 3)
2 Hydrophobic
- Ceramide EOS (Ceramide 1)
- Ceramide EOP ( Ceramide 4)
- Ceramide NS (Ceramide 2)
Thank you for calling out the open jars. Especially Skinceuticals! Your skin always looks beautiful!
Aveeno is my go to literary every day ! Aveeno and Vaseline are always in my cabinet
Need a video about sweat and hyperhidrosis! Maybe even skincare that is perfect for individuals who sweat excessively
Vanicream makes a good ceramide-rich cleanser, moisturizer, and moisturizing sunscreen.
Agree. Their moisturizer + mineral sunscreen is wonderful and has 5 different ceramides!
@@jr-pr9lw Your comment helped me realize that I’d misstated about the cleanser. It doesn’t contain ceramides but works well for me. The ceramide containing cleansers are from Pacifica Beauty and Ceramedx.
Loved your video, I am just an ardent follower of your content.
Hey! How about Re'equil? how's the brand?
Re'equil should have been on my list. It is also a very good brand, especially, their sunscreens and moisturisers are very effective.
@@barsha9518 Their brand's packaging looks amazing to me. I'm thinking of getting some of their products
@@fahomedchowdhury5738 Go for it!
Any Indian dermatologist you recommend I can watch on UA-cam?
Thank you Dr. Shereene.
Requesting you consider: Exosomes as a topic.
💜💜💜
Thank you for all you do for us Doctor ❤
I usually use castor oil or rosehip oil or grapeseed oil or squalane oil. According to your explanation, seems they function as ceramide as well
Love your content so much! ❤ I would really appreciate an in-depth video on scalp skincare and what are BS ingredients / products for the scalp, like do you actually need to exfoliate your scalp? Also best treatments for scarring alopecia 🙏🏼 ❤
I would love to see a long format video with review of The ordinary products: which ones deserve our attention and which better to skip? It’s still one of my favourite brands but I am not sure how it compares to other ones objectively.
Please do a video on oil free products for people with oily and seborrheic dermatitis!
I'll second the recommendation for Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30. It's part of my sunscreen rotation for days that I won't be spending much time in the sun, and figured it would work double duty.
Thank you Doctor.
I use La Roche-Posay’s TOLERIANE HYDRATING GENTLE FACIAL CLEANSER. It contains prebiotic thermal spring water, niacinamide, and ceramide-3. I love it!
Omg FAB is the best!! My son has eczema and could never use aveeno because it would burn his skin but the first aid beauty cream is absolutely magnificent!
I make lotions, including a 30% glycerin cream that I keep at work to help with the effects of frequent handwashing and dry hospital air. I use panthenol and ceramides in it. Thanks for the information - it'll help me choose the best ceramide complex next time I order. My current ceramide complex came in a dark green jar and I keep it in the fridge. I package the cream in cobalt glass. I love me some light-protective packaging!
Hello! Favorite kid/baby products in a long or short format would be so helpful! And favorite bachuchiol serums in a short format!
Please make a long format video for Skin care routine/products that you can use while taking accutane and if we can take other supplements while taking it such as omega 3 fish oil, magnesium glycinate etc. Thank you so much!
I think your skin looks amazing, regardless of the shine
Your videos have saved my skin, face and body. I'm waiting for my major fade active seal to show up. Shipping time was a little long but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.
Would love your take on more European and Asian products!
Would love a deep dive into facials and chemical peels!
I’m using your products and I love the simplicity of the routine!! Thank you.
Can you talk about PRP&PRF for skin and hair??? Does it help hair loss due to genetics in women?? Thank you for educating us! You are amazing❤️
Love it! I'd also love to see a long form on dealing with facial psoriasis specifically (and plaque body psoriasis), and cross into ingredients that would be beneficial to use or avoid... skin care, even pertaining to makeup products?
Same. I have on my face I and would love the topic to be more talk about it.
I do love the byoma gel moisurizer and recently discovered Bubble Day serum. Only $14 at walmart but contains 5 diff types of ceramides and vita c derivative and tranexamic acid. Too good to be true!
Do you like the Bubble one so far?
@@safs66 i do since that one serum replaced like 3 separate ones. I only used it for like a couple of weeks so far and it’s soothing, non irritating but it’s too soon to tell if it’s making a big difference but there seems to be slight brightening.
@@tinasung3814 Thank you. I'm thinking of buying this instead of the Cocokind one...
@@safs66 i was debating between the 2 also but given Bubble Day serum has tranexamic for hyperpigmentation, that won me over.
@@tinasung3814 Also I noticed that all of the ceramides were more towards the top of the ingredient list (vs in Cocokind they were towards the bottom) Thank you Tina!
Two additional options. Drunk Elephant Ceramide Cream - air tight container. Pacifica Ceramide Cream; much more budget friendly but it’s an open container 🫙
I would love to see a video on the "hydra facial" procedure. I had a negative experience resulting in a comprised barrier. Would love to hear your take on such facial treatment. Love your content! Thank you :)
They always make me break out 😢
Hope you have more time for yourself and your family reducing the frequency of long format videos. I'll miss them in the off weeks.
Cocokind is an excellent serum, thank you for recommendation. I use it now for 2 months and feel great about it.
Thank you for your channel!!! Someone mentioned hair in the comments. Would love to see a video about hair care and hair myths!
Doc, what do you recommend for chronic dark circles?
Long form content all the way! My favorite is the Dr. Jart Ceramide cream
Hello, ny Dermatologist in June put me on Rhofade for my Rosacea. It's a topical and has helped me. Ask your Derm about it.
Thank you for the video! It was spot on as always. I would love to watch a video on rosacea and acne + rosacea.
Dr. Shereen Idriss thank you for the the thorough but easy to digest information, it's so very helpful. Thank you also, for mentioning alternatives to your fave (expensive) products...it really helps in case something is not available due to geography and or due to budget differences.
Does this mean that we should steer clear of the cheaper versions or not necessarily?
