I'm likely in the minority here but I would LOVE to see a video about treating skin that tends to clog very quickly. I've dealt with this for decades now and given that I'm newly 40 - I'd like to find a way to effectively treat it so I can pretend it's not a thing anymore (lol). Thank you, Dr. Idriss!!! 💖💖💖
I second this! Plus I have dry skin so salicylic acid is too drying.
I have combo skin but clogged pores and sometimes inflammatory acne and well as non inflammatory
Me too and I'm almost 68. I have to say though that Dr. Idriss's recommendation to wash only with water in the am as to not end up stripping the skin barrier is making a difference for me. I can hear my mum yelling at me about the "acid mantle" on my skin over 50 years ago but now it's just so wonderful the doctor is willing to help us all! 😊
I'm a dude, i deal with clogged pores, i use prescription aklief as well and azelaic acid, I still get white heads time to time.
Yes! I do BHA Azelaic Acid and Retinol and still suffer from congestion
Please make a separate video how to wash for every skin type.
Her cleansing cream is wonderful! Your skin feels so soft afterwards you forget to put on moisturizer, because it does not dry your skin out and it is so flattering. I highly recommend!!
I’m loving it too! My eyes are really sensitive and it takes off my eye makeup without any irritation at all!
Night shift workers skincare tips/routines. What and when to use products. Thank you!
Yes please 🙏🏼
omg yes, please I neeeeeeed this! I do nights, days, evenings, all of it and my skin suffers for sure!
Need this!
Do your skincare routine before you go to sleep.
this would be so great
Can you make a special video about rosacea? I would love to hear from you about products, all recommendations etc. And please include not only US products, but Europe, K-care as well.
Your request was granted! It didn’t go into European and k-skincare as well but she did list active ingredients!
Dr. Shereene, where is the recommendation for us dry acne-prone skin nerds though?! We're being forgotten! :(
We’re always left behind😭😭😭
Hi, she recommended the CREAM saliyclic acid cleaner from cetaphil for dry skin people with acne! Mainly because most sa cleansers for acne or anything are more gel or stripping since often made for oily skin. Since creamier textures are what people with dry skin should look for in cleansers she recommended it 🥰
@@RajiRahan it makes my skin full of postules even if i use it a little bit
Alice in the Rabbit Hole is the best UA-camr for dry acne-prone skin types 😊 actually she's the best content creator for any skin type 👌
I think she might suggest a cream sulfur wash. I had one that was prescription
I would love to see a video for skin care for those of us over 65 as well as one for dehydrated skin.
Please make video on bad ingredients in skincare routines
I agree especially in sun screen
Plsssss totally needed
YESSS!!
💯
I'm 70 (look young for my age!) but I have issues with products causing clogged skin; I get blackheads and whiteheads. What products on your line help with clogged pores?
I've listened to many dermatologists on UA-cam; You're my fav. Why? Your detailed explanations and charming personality. It's an education and joy listening to you!
Paula choice exfoliate bha.
Dermasil
I always enjoy watching your Saturday videos!
Topics for future shorts or videos:
1. When to use an azelaic acid product with salicylic acid (like Paula's Choice) with a retinol? Use on alternating nights? Use on same nights, if tolerated?
2. Frequency of use of a sulfur cleanser for sensitive skin
I have very sensitive, very dry skin and have eczema and mild rosacea. As I’ve gotten older my skin has gotten more sensitive. Even brands like Neutrogena, CeraVe, Aveeno etc don’t work anymore. A few years ago I discovered Vanicream which has minimal ingredients. I love it. No more breakouts, redness, flakiness or eczema. My roseacea flares have lessened a great deal.
Have you ever tried a retinol? My skin is so similar to what you described and I want to try a Retinol but would love to hear from someone else with similar skin type!
@@brookewatson9531 I have the same conditions and successfully use Avène RetrinAL0.1. I believe they also make a lower strength that you might consider trying.
Vanicream also makes a lovely Vitamin C serum. I have the same skin issues and it doesn't irritate my skin.
I’m in a similar situation to you. But I worry about Vanicream because I tried their daily facial moisturizer and it severely dried out my skin. I’m not sure what their cleanser is like though.
@@chariots8x230 really? I have heard great things about that brand but have never tried anything! I will definitely skip the facial moisturizer
Dr. Idriss! How should we manage (sweaty) skin post workout? Would love a longer form cleansing vid!
Hi Dr. Idriss, I just wanted to thank you about your hate on HAs, lol. I finally tried not to use my HA serum and boy oh boy did my skin thank me the following day. Because I have compromised my skin barrier, I tried cutting out on my skincare routine and just used an eye cream and moisturizer last night. I already saw a difference on how my skin looked and now I understand why you always say we don’t need HA. I might have contradicted your video on HA but I really want to thank you for sharing that one. I’m looking forward to see my skin fully recovered. Thank you very much! 🙏🏼❤️
You briefly did a short on your beauty blender and the cleanliness. Can we get a Pillow Talk Durm showing us how you actually clean your beauty blender your makeup brushes and the products you use.
For beauty blenders, dish soap does a great job at dissolve the oily product components. Just make sure to rinse and squeeze out well to remove all the detergent, and let air dry completely before storage.
Only using water in the morning has changed my skin! I have oily, acne prone and sensitive skin. Now I rarely break out! I also LOVE the aveeno calm and restore cleanser and serum. Thanks for sharing your knowledge 💚
This is helpful to know, I have the same skin type and have been afraid to skip a morning cleanse for fear of melting into a greasy puddle. Glad to know it's worth sticking it out! P.S. if you like oaty skincare the Purito Oat-in Gel Cream is an oily-sensitive dream, super lightweight but so soothing!
I absolutely love that Aveeno cleanser as well. I stopped using it because they are not cruelty free. That's the only problem with that cleanser but it is really a great cleanser
@@EzraSproutsI live in a very humid place and I’m oily and I thought so but my skin has been clear as hell ever since I only started cleansing w water in the morning but I also think it’s because I’ve started using more lightweight/gel products
I'm dry and I use the Aveeno calm and restore face wash and serum I use the face wash as a 5 minute mask before washing off. It helps reduce my redness..
@ujungwjsn thank you, always useful to hear positive stories from folks with similar skin types. Feel like the oily/acneic + sensitive type gets a bit neglected as it's often assumed sensitive skin is dry. But there's more to it than that! Glad it worked for you anyway :)
Thank you for adding cleanser to your amazing line of products. I just ordered it and am excited to try. Congratulations on the continued growth of your company! 🎉❤
Please make a video on hand and foot care along with body care as well ❤
WOW I am amazed at how well it takes off your eye makeup. Proof of the towel!!! I CAN’T WAIT FOR IT TO BE SOLD IN CANADA AGAIN, please. Canuck’s wash too eh! Love you
Dr. Idriss could you do a video on the best lip balms?
Especially balms with SPF!
@@unabashedlybashful yes I agree
Good morning so i purchased the depuffer and moisturizer from your website since sephora was out of stock. I received them yesterday tried this morning and im in love they feel wonderful on my skin sink right in no greasiness. Now gonna go back for more products to try. Just wanted to say thank you so much for your honesty and inspiration ❤
Hi dr shereene , ❤love being one of your nerds . We absolutely love your content and your knowledge throughout this series. Thank goodness for your support and expertise. Can’t wait for more of your amazing videos xx
Aw thank you so much! 🥹❤️
I agree! I changed cleansers and a whole new deal! I am using the huge bottle of Philosophy Purity on my body now!
Perfect I have been needing some new cleanser recommendations
Hi! Little nerd from Toronto here. I've been following your content since the pandemic and I've learnt so much from you.
I have a request/ recommendation or a video - Could you break down the different types of spot treatments for acne (and the ingredients in them), specifically explaining if there are any 'types' of breakouts that you recommend specific ingredients/ spot treatments for? Thank you!
I was a tester for the soft wash and its gooooood! My full bottle arrived yesterday!
I would love a video about best body care routine and products for age/liver spots.
She is an excellent dermatologist
Watching you on Hoda and Jenna, you look so pretty. Great job as always!!!
I LUV Kate Somerville cleanser I've used it ever since I saw ur video about the best sephora finds! And I'm really greatful for ur help and recommendations for different skin types AND ur humour! The way u explain things, Gosh, u make understanding everything so easy! After watching this video I became influenced and I'm considering buying pillowtalk derm soft wash lol
I've been able to help my grandma who is in her 70s to clear her skin and give her a better understanding of how to take care of her skin. She is also a fan of urs and loves ur videos!
I also would love it if u speak Arabic in ur next video, Shereene❤
Looking forward to see u next Saturday! :)
I sent my daughter to your channel. She’s a 22 yr old college senior with great skin. Now is the time to really start upping her skincare game~at least learning about proper skin prep from a board certified derm and not from Tik Tok. There’s really SO much info that your channel covers, that couldn’t possibly be done in office due to time constraints. I just love this content and I don’t mind being called a little nerd as a term of endearment. 🌺🤙🏼
Hopefully, your young adult daughter will follow through on this and take your advice! Maybe she is in the "lucky top 10%" of skin where you NEVER have an issue!
Great video!! I would love to see a video about anti-aging products for mature skin that is sensitive.
Hi Dr.Shereen,
My question revolves around red light therapy and tretinoin. I currently use tretinoin at night and I just recently bought a omnilux mask. I use tretinoin 3 times a week and on the off nights use the mask, but according to their website, "For users taking prescriptive levels of Retin A such as Tretinoin we do not recommend the use of light devices. Those using cosmetics/skincare products containing retinol should read the skincare instructions carefully for warnings and precautions in relation to exposure to light. Retin A should be discontinued for at least 5 days before performing light therapy treatments". For context, I am a 43 year old woman who has had melasma in the past and some fine lines. Also, a few years ago I had a mole removed on the side of my face that was squamous cell carcinoma in situ. I get nervous about combining the two things and I don't hear anyone talking about this. Could you please explain why the website advises against using both things.
Hi Shereene, please do a video about best scalp/hair sunscreens. Would love to hear your opinion and recommendations. Thanks!
great review and video! love your hyper fade and moisturizer, would love to see a routine for DRY hormonal ACNE prone skin
I love what you said about washcloths. I won't even use a bath towel more than once.
I always look forward to your videos. You have the unique talent of being super informative and fun to listen to. I've learned a lot. Thank you!
Question: does long term use of retinol (25 years) cause your bones to weaken. A clinical nutritionist told me this. I've not been successful in finding a clear answer online and I know you have a special skill and hunting down and destroying untruths when it comes to skincare ;)
My fav dermatologist ever ❤
Your love for science and dermatology inspires me to want to go back to school and push my career a little further
I’ll be buying your new cleaning product, congratulations! Yes please create a video for each type and weekly routine thank you!
I would like to try it too but I am not in the US.
I think it’s so important to show the basics like washing your face! And the tip to use a clean cloth each time you wash makes so much sense. I have started only rinsing my face in the morning. It’s going to be interesting to see how it feels in the summer. Your videos are awesome. Thanks!
🙌🙌🙌
I have combo sensitive skin and for me the La Roche posay Toleriane Dermo nettoyant face and eyes cleanser has worked very well for me. It does not sting the eyes.
Thank you doctor ❤ I have mature dry sensitive skin. I have been able to find products for my skin that feel good ❤❤❤ Hurray THANK YOU!
As a person with sensitive, reactive skin in general and with active perioral dermatitis, I would love a video from you about products, recommendations etc. Also include not only US products, but Europe, K-care as well :) Thanks for amazing and informative video as always!
Your wash looks amazing and I can’t wait to try it. I’m just curious if you’ve tried the Gleanser from Prequel and your thoughts on it if you have
I saw one of your shorts about only washing the face at night. I gave it a try and my results are positive. Truly changed the balance and condition of my skin. No more oily T Zone, dehydrated cheeks and clogged pores. I am now using CeraVe Hydrating Cream-to-Foam Cleanser with ceramides. Love this routine and simple budget friendly cleanser as not only does my skin behave better it is saving me money. Thanks for the great tip!
My FAVORITE cleanser is the Gleanser from Prequel. The amount you get for the price is unparalleled, and the formulation is fabulous!
please talk about safe for pregnancy skincare next!
Good morning Doc!
on apprend tellement avec vos videos, vraiment tres interessant
Please sell the pink eye masks and the mini sizes. Thank you.
I was JUST thinking I need some recommendations for cleansers! Can't wait to hear them, this came at the perfect time. Also, I really hope your products become internationally available soon💗
I hope so too! We are working on reaching the international nerds! 🫶
Subscribed! I'm so happy I found Dr. Shereene Idriss!!!
I now us BUTT PASTE!
Could you please do a video on getting the best skin for a special occasion in six months time? When would be best to do a chemical peel and/or microneedling and other procedures, so that the skin heals and looks its best by the day of the event?
needed this!!
Hi Dr. Idriss. Could you do a video on body discoloration and the best products to use for this please? Thank you!
I would love a video about double cleaning, when we may use it and when not.
Very helpful video - thank you!! 💜💜💜
🙌🙌🙌
Hi Dr. Idriss your videos and products( all of them) are crucial in my day to day routine ever since I discovered you. I just wish you would deliver abroad because is a whole story for me to get the products😊. Today’s video is very enlightening on cleansing the face. The split on skin types is very good as sometimes we get lost in too many products available. Maybe you could do same kind of videos on all kind of products split by skin type: like exfoliants for dry/oily…hydration for dry/oily…etc. I know there are videos on all of these I am just suggesting on organizing them like this one. Thank you so much for your usefull information
Thank you! I'm also loving the Beauty of Joseon Refreshing Cleanser, its has the perfect balance (I use it after the cleansing balm) my face loves it!
I would love to see a video on skincare for people with severely sensitive and dry skin. I have a sun allergy, contact dermatitis from most things and lupus. Plus recurrent staph infections that are related to immunodeficiency. It's literally hell trying to introduce anything. I wish I could come see Dr. Idris!
Thank you for this video!! Would LOVE a sunscreen roundup sometime soooon :)
YAY!!! Finally received a shipping notification...Looking forward to receiving my Soft Wash, Flash Mask and Active Seal will arrive on Monday.
Would love to see one video with am & pm face wash routines...and yes, I actually own 14+ microfiber face cloths and several white hand towels for blotting. They even go with me on every vaccay. Yep...I'm a nerd!
Thank you!!! 14+ a true nerd lol 🙌
Can you please do a quick video about micro needling? I’ve been seeing/hearing a lot about it lately for acne scar reduction and wrinkles.
I would love that you show us how to wash our face. I have just bought your products but not the wash . I asked at Sephora if you had a face wash and they said ., no .. so i was disappointed that they didn’t have any idea that you had a face wash. So i will just order it. Love all your great advice.
Would be good to see a feature on debunking skincare tips and myths especially ones we grew up in the 90s like for example washing face with hot water to open pores and then cold water to close pores
Please please please let us know your opinion on Glow recipe, I loved their toner and it looks like it has all the right ingredients but I need the Dr Idriss tick!
So glad James Welsh put me onto you
Hello Dr Shereene! I love your work on UA-cam, it is very helpful! I am aware it is not major topic for many people, but I am already struggling with hyperpigmentation and dont want to change the lifestyle that much. So maybe I'll be the lucky one. You always mention - be aware of the environment you live in. Could you do even a short one about best recommendations for the hot, humid and ALWAYS sunny places? Maybe water/sweat resistant? Or how many times we should reapply sunscreen if we have big sun exposure? Are sun sticks/zinc good to use? Or what to use when you do watersports (kitesurfing) but want to have good protection? I would be really grateful :) Have a good Sunday!
This off topic, but I couldn't find an info from you, a licensed doctor about the Lyme laser. I love your channel and am binging! subbed!
Merci Shereene, je vous suis depuis la France !
Love your videos ❤ wait for it every Saturday ☺️ please do a video on serums and chemical exfoliants for acne prone skin for 30+. Thank you 😊🙏🏻
I just used the Soft Wash for the first time, and I feel like my skin is happy!
Finally someone gave advice about sensitive skin AND acne😭 thank you!
There are TONS of videos about sensitive skin and acne
What are you going on about?
I would love for you to talk about the neck. How to help a neck that’s already in alittle trouble.
Pull down all of your skincare that you use on your face to your neck.
I really love your educational videos as they help me better understand my skin and work on improving it. I wonder tho, why don't you ever recommend CeraVe products in your videos? I've heard its a great brand for repairing your skin barrier and ive been personally using the CeraVe moisturizing cleanser for a while and im pretty happy with it but when i see your recommendations i start thinking that i might be able to find even better products for my skin.
Great fundamentals ❤
I loooove your videos!!! 😍
Strap in this a long on.
I have sensitive dry skin. I am 30, female, never struggled with acne in all my teen years.
In the last 6 months(winter in dry environment) I started washing my face in the evening with cetephil gentle cleanser (for normal to dry) and then applying gentle lotion(dry to normal). I finish by drying with a clean towel. That went well.
Here's where the problem started...first of all, always washed my hands first. I started wearing sunscreen regularly everyday.
Most chemical gave a rash... I have olive completion so tinted mineral is best, I guess.
Eucerin sensitive mineral face, looked nice but made the skin above my top lip have a dry flaky rash. I think it was the straight Zinc 24%. I treated with Hydrocortisone.
I have really like Cetaphil Redness Relieving Daily Facial Moisterizer. It blends into my olive skin well. Feels nice and easy to reapply.
In the evening I remove with gentle Micellar Cleansing Water and gentle clenser followed with lotion.
Since trying to wear spf lotion everyday I am breaking out with acne!
I have several white heads and a few cystic, a stye....
I have had dry skin all my life how could I possibly over mostrize!?!
Help me wear the damn sunscreen!
Even as a cystic acne teen and early 20s. I actually like creamy hydrating cleansers better. Seems to help my face feel better. I was still an oily slick at the end of the day but it just felt better. But I do wish I thought about double cleansing back than.
Thanks for your videos, I find them very educational and informative! I’d love more information about cleansers. People always say to use a gentle cleanser, but how do we know which cleansers are gentler than others? Are there particular surfactants that are less stripping than others? I enjoy product recommendations, but sometimes I can’t get the product where I live or it’s prohibitively expensive to ship here, so what ingredients to look for and what to avoid would be really handy!
This was very helpful, thank you i will be making these changes. Also could not help but admire your necklaces, would you mind sharing where they are from please? Thank you!
Love the video! My gripe is dry hands. I wash my hands many times and good hygiene is über important to me, but it is costing my hands getting dry & nails that have lines. What would you recommend?
Greetings from Zaragoza, Spain. I have followed you from the beginning and I thank you, infinitely, for everything you teach us💜. I would love to try all your products... 🤩 When will you be able to ship to Europe?
I would die for a video on ingredient combinations for acne prone skin
I've heard one influencer say to wash with a gentle cleanser in the a.m. so products absorb better 🤔 Do you wash your neck and chest the same as well?
Awesome video 💜
Good video for deciding the right cleanser. What a nice necklace you are wearing. What label is this from? ❤
Thank you for making your product available through Sephora
I do not live in the USA
Thanks, would u pls go through sensitive skin , what is a sensitive skin? How to treat it ,etc..
Bonjour depuis la France! Thank you for your top quality videos! Will your products be one day available in Europe? That would be great 😍😍😍
Hopefully soon! We are working on it! 🫶❤️
Just saying that I discovered your videos recently, and I watch them daily. You are a kind of a god to me right now, I believe every word you say, and this is not something I say, EVER!.
Love your knowledge, ove your explanation technique and also your jokes. ❤
And also your skin lookes amazing so you probably know what you are talking about 😅
Can you please explain SLS and stuff we see in the ingredients list at most of the soaps, cleansers, shampoos etc.
I would love a video on the difference between men's and women's skincare, including men's skin that clogs easily.
Those necklaces are so pretty.
Thank you for the useful information!!! Very informative, as always 🙏🏼
Could you make a video about luxury skincare (designer brands)? Have been looking tirelessly for a video that would discuss their skincare- benefits/efficiency/“unique” ingredients vs cost.
Brands like Dior, Chanel, Lancome, Estee lauder, Tom Ford and so on.
Please please!!! 🙏🏼
Go to EWG, type in the product, and they will tell you all the bad stuff in it. I’ve had a double mastectomy and Dr. Idriss has had a lumpectomy so it’s safe to assume her products are “safe”. She’s not in the EWG yet. But the high-end name brands are. You’ll be surprised. I certainly was.
Much love from one nerd to another ❤❤❤
I have oily skin and have been washing my face with a cleanser at night every day, then just rinsing my face with water in the mornings... for four years already. I haven't broken out ever so I think my face is doing fine :D my cleanser is a soap with alpha arbutin, salicylic acid, and collagen (my PIH is less visible now compared to four years ago)
Dr. Idriss I came across your page a couple of weeks ago and love your interactions in the short videos as well as the regular one. I'm curious to know if your videos are predominantly for females, or do you do some that will pertain to both male and female? I know some of the products are universal but sometimes (like this one I just watched) seems a little gauge toward females. I'm just curious because I really like your advice and some of the products you suggest, but since I don't ware makeup (and have NO desire 😅) , I was wondering if the next time you do another video about the types of face washes to use for our skin types, could you specify if it's more for females, or male. or both, I would greatly appreciated.
A demo face washing only video would be great!

This hit the spot. Thanks dr. Idriss! 🫡
Also just realized one of my face washes is liquidy..which bucket does it go? 😂
Thank you I really agree thr right cleanser could make all the difference i have recently put more thought into the cleansers that i use and have become a little obsessed
Hi Dr Idriss!
I love all your tips and thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us.
I have a question though:
Aren’t you worried about all toxic ingredients that are present in almost all products you recommend? I know it works for the skin in many ways but so many ingredients are known to be hormone disrupters for example.
Would love to hear your opinion on that.
I am very involved in taking care of my skin at 29 years old I know how important it is to start as early as possible. However I am concerned about the impact all these products can have on my hormonal health. I had a stage of my life where I had PCOS, so I am conscious.
Thanks in advance
Great topic! Will this cover body skin too? And scalp?
Thank you so much for all your video's...can we have video's about treatments like Fibroblast, plasmapen, microneedling etc. ❤
If you don't want to dilute the cleanser by applying to wet skin, why do you add water when it's in your hands? Doesn't that do the same thing?
