@Maria & Sam - Janis and Damian were watching the OG Friday the 13th. If you can manage to catch the bottom corner of the frame on their TV screen about 1 - 2 seconds before Caty scares them, you see Jason's hockey mask in the left of the window when it smashes and they both get jumpscared by Caty bursting in.
if you can see the hockey mask then it`s not OG Friday the thirteenth. [SPOILERS] In the first film Pamela Voorhees is the killer, and in the second Jason still does not have the mask. It's not until the third film that he gets the hockey mask, though it became the most recognizable version. More likely than not they are watching Friday part III Actually a correction: you can see Jason with a sack on his head so it is def Friday II, so it is towards the end of the film.

I laughed so hard the first time I watched this because every time she was in Africa, the subtitles said she was speaking Afrikaans and they were so wrong! It seemed like a bizarre mix of Xhosa and Zulu (going off of what my Xhosa and Zulu friends sound like when they speak the languages)
In the US it’s weird. I felt that hair length discussion so much. Especially as a curly-haired person, that in-between time is so long (you have to wait one to two years for it to finally passes your shoulders because for a while, the longer it gets the curlier it becomes and it turns into this seemingly-endless loop) that I always lose patience and cut it off but then I get bored of short hair and want to grow it out and the vicious cycle begins again.

Im pretty sure the horror movie Janise and Damien are watching is Friday the 13th part 2. I'm like 87% sure. Because you can see the killer in the window is wear a sack over his head and thats what Jason did because he didn't find his signature mask until the third movie
At my high school, it was an old three story building (four if you count the basement but everyone just says 'three stories + basement' around here 🤷🏼) and the cafeteria was in the basement and we weren't allowed to leave the basement during our lunch periods (there were three lunches to accommodate all of the students at school) unless you had a pass from a teacher. They used to let the Juniors and Seniors leave campus for lunch, but the year I was a Sophomore, they had a meeting where they told all the Sophomores that when we became Juniors, we would not be allowed to leave campus during lunch bc of all the kids in previous years that would leave for lunch and never come back after. We were all so mad and felt it was unfair we were being punished for what other people had done.
Ours was a two-story building with a cafeteria in the middle. We didn’t have a quad or outdoor area for people to spend time in. The only time people were allowed on the sports fields were if you were playing a sport. Nobody was allowed to leave the school cafeteria for lunch because years prior some seniors had stolen things from a convenience store nearby. So after that every person had to sit in the cafeteria unless a teacher gave you a pass to eat in their classroom with them.
This movie is so so nostalgic. When it came out I saw it twice at the movies with different groups of friends. Despite some small flaws this movie still holds up for me, as it touches on social commentary while being funny/very quotable. It's such an annoying trope in Hollywood where, if a character speaks another language they cant speak any English or only very heavily accented Eng. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with having an accent or not speaking Eng it just gets frustrating when there is not enough representation of other languages & people get reduced to lazy stereotypes. However, this movie does stick to some stereotypes as a way to somewhat critique them
Your question about “The Quad” or “The Football Field” depends on what state you live in here in the US. Here in NY you can eat inside the building or in any interior courtyard spaces. The reason they don’t want you outside of the school building itself has to do with Truancy Laws (it is a lot easier for kids to leave, and from age 6 to 16 school is REQUIRED in NYS) and funny enough for Safety precautions. The safety end of things allows the exterior doors of the school to remain closed and locked, if you exit you are locked out and they don’t let you back in. This is the reason you don’t really hear about school shootings in NYC, or upstate NY. We have millions of students and safety is a huge concern and always the number one priority. Now, I lived in Florida and worked at a school there, they had the same policy BUT they also would allow the students who were not on academic probation to “sign out” for a one hour lunch- they could even leave the campus, but they couldn’t take any of the food out of the cafeteria.
Some American schools have so many students that they break up lunch periods by grade so other classes are happening during other students lunch breaks.
Oh my gosh Sam Maria I love your reaction to mean girls! It’s a great movie and thank you for the laughs u two made my day! Hope everything is great in the land down under.
I didn’t realize until I was older but Regina must have mistaken Janice saying she was Lebanese as Lesbian and that’s where that whole thing started. That’s why they included it in the end. 😅
Also, at my school wet aren’t allowed on the fields or courts at lunch because the boys would play soccer and get too rough, so the whole school got in trouble for them😢
Someone told me that when she went to school, some students snuck in the bathroom and shared results of the test. I can only imagine what teachers are thinking when they refuse to let someone go to the bathroom during class.
in the US pur nutrition labels absolutely have grams 5 grams protein, 3 grams sugar... the only time is like, if it's in ounces, but even then it usually has grams or ml (depending on solid or liquid)
why is it SO HARD to just use the restroom BETWEEN classes ? plan ahead or be an adult your not three years old , never understood why kids always said they COULD NOT wait till after class
Just had to say this, but our ingredients list are definitely in grams. I never even thought about that before but yeah, we definitely use grams on our ingredients lists in America, which is kind of weird.
This was such a good movie, really well done, very entertaining. Some other movies about teens that I recommend: Saved (2004), Election (1999), Clueless (1995), Valley Girl (1983).
For someone who was hit by a bus trust me it’s painful as hell. However for me I was 13 and it wasn’t so bad however I did get minimal bruises. I was able to make it to religious activities that night however the next day I didn’t go to school. U k cause of the pain I was excused from classes. Being hit by a bus is no joke even though I was blessed to not have a fractured spine it still hurt. The summer after some boys called me bus girl( before I went by Seth) and it wasn’t a pleasant experience to go thru.
Excellent reaction! I got here late, so I'm watching again. Silly question: what was the music playing while waiting for the premiere? It's so relaxing 😌
My schools didn’t have cafeterias. You ate outside wherever you wanted. If it was raining, you could eat in the classrooms or against the buildings under the overhangs.
This is a fun video cant wait for the reaction to the musical movie. If you go in with intent to enjoy it (vs going in thinking 'it will never measure up to the original'), the new one is a great reference and new spin on both the original movie and the broadway musical. The new one also just feels more queer. I adored it.
We were only allowed to eat lunch in the cafeteria at my school. Weirdly enough the cafeteria at my high school had doors leading to this small sectioned off outdoor area, but I know that students have not been allowed to use it for at least 30 years. We could not leave campus to purchase lunch elsewhere either. Other than a covered walkway between the main building and the vocational building, we could get in trouble for being outside if not given permission my a teacher. There was not an outside area for students to hang out even after the school day ended. As I am describing my schools, I realize that it sort of sounds like a prison. I have heard the "made out with a hot dog" is the G rated (or whatever is the equivalent to the "general audience" rating in other countries) version of that secret. I used to question that secret because it did not make sense to me. I always found it funny that though Cady is the main character, numerous other characters really outshine her in the story even though most had a lot less screen time.
I've seen a few Mean Girls viewings on YT, and everyone ALWAYS asks why she didn't just go outside or something instead of eating in the bathroom. Well, a hell of a lot of high schools don't allow you to go outside unsupervised. You'd have to sneak out, which obviously a lot of kids do... but at this point in the movie, Cady def wouldn't have done that on her own oe voluntarily. Our school certainly didn't allow you to go outside, and I was a freshman only two years after this movie came out Also, I notice a lot of reviewers ask why there are no cameras in the halls when Regina posts the Burn Book pages all over. Back in 2004, most high schools didn't have cameras everywhere. My school at least only had them at the entrances. I'm sure it's different today to try to accustom the youth to being monitored 24/7, but it wasn't like that just a few short years ago. I feel bad for kids in school today. They'll never know a world where they can actually goof off, break the rules, and have fun without constant fear of being recorded. It takes away a lot of the teenage experience. No wonder kids nowadays are so rigid when it comes to following rules and and social norms. They're "open" in an incredibly concrete way, and it's sad. Like how dare someone say "ret@rd" like they did in this movie. The kids will punish you and maybe even rat you out to the teachers. But hey, considering so many kids in Gen Z love Mean Girls, maybe it shows that said behavior isn't going to be around forever. They love a movie with lots of gay and racial jokes and "slurs," which is something that they would punish people for today. Perhaps it shows that deep down they think their rules are dumb and they'll someday change. Well, at least you can hope so 🤷♀️
Hey on the Asian kid thing, I think the exaggerated point of mean girls is exaggerated stereotypes. There were no Asian kids who spoke other languages (during school) at my school, but there were tons of Hispanic and Indian kids who did so. Almost always in an exclusionary fashiion. Immigrant kids can be just as clicky, and I have specific instances where I could understand enough to know who girls were talking about.
There’s been a theory going around for quite a while that Regina misunderstood “Lebanese” and “lesbian” and that’s why she thought that Janice was a lesbian. I kind of like that as it would be on brand.
Janice isn;t Armenian! The joke is she probably told Regina she's Lebanese and Regina probably thought Janice said she was a lesbian or just didn't know what Lebanese meant
I hate to say this on another video man but, at least here in NY, there are a plethora of children who are in school and do not yet know the English Language, so those girls could very easily be in our school system. In the US, again, we are required to provide education to everyone and anyone AND if you immigrate here your children are required to be in school from 6 to 16. The district I am in right now has just over 13,000 students. 11.3% are immigrants that have moved into the area over the last 10 years from Korea, India, Vietnam and Cambodia. On top of that 7.6% were born here and have an Asian background. That is just talking about Asia. There are immigrants from Jordan and Ukraine that have been moving here and granted citizenship over the past year. Their kids all have to go to school as well, our public school system CAN NOT turn anyone away. So we adapt. Every class is different, and I mean EVERY hour long class. We are responsible for not only their education but their comfort in introducing them to our community. We begin by teaching them ESL Individually (English as a second language)- but they VERY often only use it in the classroom. The cafeteria has some groups that sit to the side, but they welcome new friends in and teach them words in their languages. We believe that they can teach us just as much as we can teach them. We also encourage them to speak whatever they want to speak, whenever they feel like speaking it. These kids did not move here because everything was amazing, they moved here because they needed safety. We provide safety, knowledge, kindness, support and genuine respect.

US high schools are weird
that teacher still hated me and made my cry more than once so eventually i stopped going to the library on study hall days (school schedule was complicated so you actually had 2 different lunch classes - a MWF lunch class and a T Th lunch class that was an extra half hour to make up for it only being 2 days rather than 3...) and instead i went to the art room
i had a painting class with that teacher AND he was my elementary school art teacher and he was really nice, he let me stay there during lunch because he didn't have a class during the lunch slot (can't leave open paints and stuff) so i would wash used paint brushes so other students could leave on time - after each painting class, students had to wash their ~3-5 brushes before they were allowed to leave for their next class, and sometimes they weren't done in time, but on days i came in he just let me wash them instead so everyone else could get to their lunch class on time, and it meant after everyone else left i had the chance to paint for a while
it was the opposite end of the school from my actual class so it wasn't as good as the library (right near my class) but it was nice and quiet and i really liked him as a teacher
usually he'd be grading paintings and setting up still lifes and getting supplies ready for the next class, so i wasn't bothering anyone at all

The classic movie Janis and Damian were watching was Friday the 13th
This movie is so so nostalgic. When it came out I saw it twice at the movies with different groups of friends. Despite some small flaws this movie still holds up for me, as it touches on social commentary while being funny/very quotable.
It's such an annoying trope in Hollywood where, if a character speaks another language they cant speak any English or only very heavily accented Eng. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with having an accent or not speaking Eng it just gets frustrating when there is not enough representation of other languages & people get reduced to lazy stereotypes.
However, this movie does stick to some stereotypes as a way to somewhat critique them
Janis and Damian are watching Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)
Cool, thank you 😊 - Sam
20 Years of Mean Girls still a 2000's Classic Movies
Thanks!
Thanks so much Chea! 😁 - Sam
The Gretchen Cesar scene is the best scene of the whole movie and Kevin rapping.
Some American schools have so many students that they break up lunch periods by grade so other classes are happening during other students lunch breaks.
Oh my gosh Sam Maria I love your reaction to mean girls! It’s a great movie and thank you for the laughs u two made my day! Hope everything is great in the land down under.
Nothing to do with the movie but María looks so cute with that earring and hair down combo
Thanks so much! 😊✨ - Maria
I didn’t realize until I was older but Regina must have mistaken Janice saying she was Lebanese as Lesbian and that’s where that whole thing started. That’s why they included it in the end. 😅
Hi guys, is 'Never Been Kissed' in the pipeline, at all? Thanks. 🧡
Hey! It is on the list 👌 - Maria
That makes sense, but it wouldn’t be good enough for me. They have to figure something else out lol - Sam
1:01:23 Allow me: all answers are correct.
Janis and Damien were watching Friday the 13th Part II in the Halloween scene!
Oh my gosh I was hoping y’all would do the old one!!! ❤
in the US pur nutrition labels absolutely have grams
5 grams protein, 3 grams sugar... the only time is like, if it's in ounces, but even then it usually has grams or ml (depending on solid or liquid)
why is it SO HARD to just use the restroom BETWEEN classes ? plan ahead or be an adult your not three years old , never understood why kids always said they COULD NOT wait till after class
Because classes are 45-60 minutes long and you have maybe five minutes in between. You don’t know what you’re talking about
You guys should do a commentary to “Emo the musical”
Just had to say this, but our ingredients list are definitely in grams. I never even thought about that before but yeah, we definitely use grams on our ingredients lists in America, which is kind of weird.
This was such a good movie, really well done, very entertaining.
Some other movies about teens that I recommend: Saved (2004), Election (1999), Clueless (1995), Valley Girl (1983).
I’ve seen 3 out of 4, but I think Maria hasn’t seen saved and election. That said, we’ll likely do at least 2 of those movies sometime - Sam
The scary movie they were watching was friday the 13th i believe it’s the second film
Always a fun rewatch!😊
p.s. weren't allowed anywhere but the cafeteria during lunch, especially the field 🤷🏻♀️ Ohio thing?
I went to a small Catholic high school and the ONLY place we were allowed to be during lunch was the cafeteria. We couldn't eat anywhere else.
That's fair. Thanks for sharing - Maria
I think it’s so funny that Janis told Regina she was Lebanese and Regina took it as leabian😂 something I didn’t realize till I was older
How did you realise it? They never said it in the movie. Unless there are different versions 🤷🏻♀️ - Maria
@@samandmariachannel if I remember it’s in the extended cut! Omg thanks for commenting back I love y’all’s videos🩷
Thanks so much 😊 - Sam
Excellent reaction! I got here late, so I'm watching again. Silly question: what was the music playing while waiting for the premiere? It's so relaxing 😌
Thanks so much 😊
In UA-cam they just label it as “dramatic”. It’s one of the presets for the premiere - Sam
@@samandmariachannel cool, tysm for letting me know 💖
My schools didn’t have cafeterias. You ate outside wherever you wanted. If it was raining, you could eat in the classrooms or against the buildings under the overhangs.
Would you consider reacting to "You drive me crazy"? With Melisa JoanHart and Adrian Grenier? I would love that!
This is a fun video cant wait for the reaction to the musical movie. If you go in with intent to enjoy it (vs going in thinking 'it will never measure up to the original'), the new one is a great reference and new spin on both the original movie and the broadway musical. The new one also just feels more queer. I adored it.
It looks like they're watching Friday the 13th Part 2
Still can't believe Rachel McAdams was wearing a wig in this.
omg, I always thought she did, colour and how it sat on her head felt so unnatural. I wish she didn't 😄 - Maria
Pretty certain the "i hear reginas hair is insured for $10,000" comment a student makes is true about the wig which was $20,000 😅 @samandmariachannel
That sounds about right 😳😂 - Sam
I'm pretty sure the movie they were watching was Friday The 13th Part 2
They were watching Friday the 13th part 2
I will be honestly surprised if both you haven't watched the original Mean Girls already.
Oh yeah, we’ve both seen it one time. Her, like 15 years ago and me for the channel with stef a few years ago - Sam
I do not miss bathroom pass days!!!
mean girls 2. then mean girls the musical
Our school certainly didn't allow you to go outside, and I was a freshman only two years after this movie came out
Also, I notice a lot of reviewers ask why there are no cameras in the halls when Regina posts the Burn Book pages all over.
Well, at least you can hope so 🤷♀️
Hey! So I dont think they spelled this out, but I think they call them plastics bc they pretty and shiny, but fake, like plastic.
Another fetch reaction :)
I ❤Both Mean Girl Versions! I Rently Saw The New Mean Girls In Theaters!🤔😵💫😫🥰🖥
So Fetch 🎉
Yes!! 💖✌ - Maria
Mean Girls 2
There’s been a theory going around for quite a while that Regina misunderstood “Lebanese” and “lesbian” and that’s why she thought that Janice was a lesbian. I kind of like that as it would be on brand.
Yesss janice is lebanese! Thats actually why regina thought she was a lesbian… cause she mixed up the words
Janice isn;t Armenian! The joke is she probably told Regina she's Lebanese and Regina probably thought Janice said she was a lesbian or just didn't know what Lebanese meant
❤❤

To clear it up, Regina misheard Lebanese as lesbian… or she just didn’t know the difference.
Tina Fey is kind of an uneven writer.
