Btw Janis isn't really a lesbian. She's Lebanese so it's implied that Regina misunderstood her when they were friends and made up the whole lesbian thing lol. Also I see the resemblance between the actor who plays Aaron and Jonathan from Stranger Things. 😅
27:11 It's not just that they care about their appearance, the girl who is freaking out about her hair is black and her hair is straightened, water curls it up, and this movie was made before the natural hair movement so nappy hair was a no-no in public.
I actually don't consider this a chick flick, at least not in the normal sense. To me, a chick flick is more like a romantic comedy whereas this is a regular comedy that revolves around women. It was also written by Tina Fey and produced by Lorne Michaels which is why there's people from SNL in it. Also, I remember reading the book it's based on a year before it came out and then seeing it in theaters when I was 11 lol. It was originally a guide for parents about adolescent girls' behavior.
Same, this looks on the surface like it'd be a chick flick, but it's really just comedy gold. I remember watching it in school as the teachers thought that it has really good messages while also being interesting and funny, and I'd have to agree with them that students pay more attention to this than an old VHS anti-bullying vid.
I would argue that many "chick flicks" are comedies, they are just put under the "chick flick" term because in the past men haven't given them a chance. Once they do its "Oh this is a COMEDY". It's an easy term to throw female-led/aimed films under instead of their actual genre.
@@hevsbuttons Yeah definitely. To me I always saw them as regular comedies and it confused me whenever guys would say things like it's a "girl movie" lol.
When I was a sophomore in high school, my teacher let us bring a movie to watch in class, it was the week before summer or spring break. One of the jocks on the baseball team pulled out the dvd mean girls from his backpack. That convinced me that boys liked mean girls a lot more than I thought they did
The reason why the black girl was complaining about her hair getting wet during the fight in the hall is because when a black person straightens the hair (afro) it takes a lot of time & heat once the hair get wet it reverts back into an Afro
About Regina's walk right before getting hit by the but: you see, early 2000's super low-rise jeans meant restricted movement. I remember walking like that to try to keep those stupid pants above my buttcrack.
Ariana grande did some re enacting scenes from this movie in her Thank u Next music video and she had a couple of the original cast, like Aaron samuels and in the video he says “Ariana grande says my hair looks sexy pushed back.. she’s not wrong!” Lol! It was perfect
Facts about the movie when the one character says that Regina George's hair is insured for $10,000, he wasn't lying. Rachel McAdams the actress who played Regina George actually had to wear a $10,000 wig for the role. She couldn't damage her hair as I believe she needed her natural hair color for another role she was doing/ about to do during the same timeframe. It's funny seeing that they alluded to the fact in the actual film itself. Also, Lindsay Lohan (Cady Heron) and Rachel McAdams (Regina George) auditioned for each others roles. Lindsay Lohan was tired of being typecast as the good girl all the time essentially. Also, Amanda Seyfield (Karen Smith "the dumb one") auditioned to be Regina George as well.
Now you guys HAVE to watch Legally Blonde, I think you'd actually like it, it has the same kind of feel in a way and gets rather deeper than it may seem surface-wise 💕 Love your reactions!
The suing in America is so common that you can sue for anything but when it comes to defamation in the UK it is actually extremely difficult to prove a lot of evidence and video evidence is needed to pursue a case and can take longer than 5 years this is why britney spears wanted a citizenship here in the UK before her conservatory ended.
Road trip, White chicks, Sorority boys, American pie, Eurotrip, This means war, My best friends girl, Why him, Killers, Chucky 4 & 5, Hot chick... ALL AWESOME COMEDIES! :)
the guy who played Kevin G was working at a place where my school went on a trip i unfortunately got too sick to go that year but people from my school met him there
yall don’t even realise girls physically fight it’s just not during school times so we don’t get in trouble by the teachers it’s always after school or on the weekends because it’s that personal
Such a fun movie! I’ve met many people that were homeschooled until college 😭 and honestly none of them were weird. They actually have events (trips and dances) for homeschool kids to socialize together. Depending the program they are in!! I think people assume homeschool kids are freaks. So not true 😂
the homosexuals comment was referring to religious homeschooling like Quiverful and other fundamentalist movements that find secular school to be demonic and "ungodly". It wasn't a comment on homeschooling alone, but the political and religious movement against government and secular schooling.
@@ravenID429 Yes, particularly those who are homeschooled and religious fundamentalist (that's where the weird part comes in). Was OP not differentiating? If not, ok.
Best reaction of Mean girls so far and not boring. I love your insights at the end cause that's what basicallly people are debating about which is who is the real mean girl in the movie. Some say, it's regina but others say it's cady or janice.
Cady and Janice are NOT the worst mean girls (although they both definitely ARE mean girls). Regina is the worst because she was just a bully. To everyone.
Here is a too long analysis of why Cady isn't really all that mean. Lol 😅 Cady wasn't the master mind. She is smart but she was also innocent until Janice started corrupting her. ●The whole plan to spy was Janice's to get revenge. ●Janice came up with the strategy on Halloween. ●Janice came up with the idea to give her the Calteen bars. ●Janice came up with the idea to cut up her shirt. ●Janice was the one who told her not to stop spying when Cady said that she didn't want to do it anymore. ●Janice even lied to Cady to make her skip class ●She _is_ mean. She also purposely chose to disrespect Cady by mispronouncing her name. ●Janice is doing everything out of malice. Regina hurt her, and now she wants to take her down. Cady just wants to make friends and date Aaron Samuels. Period. Janice takes advantage of that. Cady is highly complicit, yes. She comes up with the foot cream idea, and lies a lot to make the plan work. But even the "party" she threw and didn't invite Janice to was only supposed to be like 6 people. She accidentally said "too gay to function" and she accidentally said that Janice was talking to her about crack. She stupidly complained about her teacher and didn't want to hurt her, but succumbed to peer pressure. Cady isn't mean. She was just vain and self centered for a little while. But she never set out _on her own to hurt anyone._ she was always just being a pawn. This is literally way too long but I've seen this movie countless times over 15 years lol

Regina is the worst because she knew Cady wanted to date Aaron Samuels, so she made up the lie to him that she’s doing some African voodoo to get him to like her, and then she kisses Aaron in front of her! So Regina is definitely the worst and she ruined Janice’s life by making up lies that she was in love with her.
@@Hinokami777 she only said that because she was being sarcastic. They were best friends and then Regina got her first boyfriend and Janice asked why she wasn’t hanging out with her anymore, so Regina didn’t invite her to her birthday party and made up the rumor that she was in love with her.
I disagree. yes Regina is mean and manipulate but Janice was more manipulative and sneaky. She forced Kady to infiltrate the plastics group in order to get revenge on Regina from something that happened in the past while dangling the promise of her friendship in Kady’s face . And when It blew up in Kady’s face Janice was the first one to throw her under the bus. And because of Janice’s idea she caused kaos at the school and she corrupted Kady and her good nature. Kady would be second in my opinion. Like Janice said There is two types of mean ppl, the ones that do mean things and the ones that see mean things happening and do nothing. Kady would be the latter because she was doing things she knew was shitty in order to be liked by others but still trying to hold on to her good girl image.M
@@aquariusmoon6174 I agree. Janice is the lead antagonist because her desire to get revenge on Regina pulled Kady into a plan that created chaos for the entire junior class girls.
No, AJ is correct! Cady decided what she wanted and used everyone including her new friends in order to get it • Regina only took Aaron but Cady took everything • Janice used Cady to sabotage Regina but Cady damaged multiple people in order to get the guy • and remember she basically fed Regina like a pet all these chocolate bars everyday • its important cos Cady’s redemption only makes sense when you see how bad she could actually be
