What is give to see them play this whole album live in 2024!
This band was just ridiculous good
Peak indie. Saturday night. Sheffield Leadmill 1993. What a great decade it was.
Hell yeah - I live in the south but would pop up to Sheffield at weekends as often as I could. Saturday nights, a few top bands followed by an "indie disco", great times
@@hoagy_ytfc that was it! Yeah! We were probably in there at the same time.
1993, 94 was the peak of Indie rock. This tune is still fresh as the day it was first released.
💯
I agree! I love this whole album - it’s really good. ❤❤
120 Minutes flashback feelings!!
I wish this group would have gotten more airplay and clout. So much good music.
They got a lot of airplay on local (RI and MA) alternative stations in the '90's when they really started taking off. I used to hear them on all the time on 95.5 WBRU out of Providence.
@@WHJeffB
I don’t recall any of their music besides this song being a hit. Maybe I should check out the album it was on one of these days.
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 Oh, Feed The Tree was easily their biggest hit. It was the most widely played song.
How did Belly record so many awesome songs, but most people somehow have never heard of them? :(
Rick and Morty has changed that somewhat
People are stupid
I just recently rediscovered them. I remember back in the day.
@@AshGreen359 Me too!! I used to always listen to them while I was getting ready for school.
Nathan Jacobson Well they did, in a way. They were packaged and promoted by U.K. label 4AD, who had, by this time, been bought out. 4AD had already broken Pixies and Throwing Muses, who were only picked up by US college radio stations at home because they were plugged by 4AD from across the pond and licensed to US majors and marketed as “Indie”. The album was pushed hard in the UK, Europe and beyond and they hit The top ten in numerous territories including No.2 in the British album charts. Indie acts and labels are still in the business of making money. You cannot underestimate the power of UK independent labels in selling US groups back to their home nation who would otherwise never have broken through. It was a pattern that started with Jimi Hendrix, who was picked up by Chas Chandler and brought to London to be road-tested for the home and global markets. Even Nirvana used rhe UK’s “indie” circuit, network, press radio and marketing methods to help them break through back home. Indie acts don’t just rise up from the ground fully formed, they’re as carefully packaged as any boy band, if anything, more carefully to protect their credibility.
I borrowed their Star CD from my cousin and remember playing it during my morning routines. Whenever I hear them I think of those cold, dark winter mornings, hurrying through breakfast to get to work.
Tanya, my forever 90s dream
I love Tanya. She's one of those people that I would just like to sit down with for an hour and tell her how much her music has meant to me. Also, every cd was solid from top to bottom. Not a bad song. They were so underrated as a band.
They had a lot of bad songs, but being biased will do that... no band ever has ever made a great song on every single album of theirs
@@miked3168 err... Stone Roses first album!
@@indyrichwolf2261 the rise and fall of Ziggy stardust Bowie maybe too.
she was in the breeders for their first show
middle east upstairs maybe 40 people there
Can I just say, she probably wouldn't want that. Lol
Wow... this rehydrated some brain cells!
The 90s were the best time to be alive....
Every day is a good day, above ground❤
80s/90s
i never get tired of Tanya.
Why isn't music like this anymore? The 90's, plenty of diversity....this song, SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
You see... Even six years later, I sit here at home in Germany and totally wonder the same 😉🌻🌞
I don't know
Grunge killed music.
I love this song. so underrated. listen to it!
The drummer has that poster-boy look of the early 90s...I really miss that era.
Hottest drummer ever!
takes me back to the 90s .. OMG i aint heard this in 25 years !.
Tanya is unbelievably cool and brilliant at the same time
One of the most beautiful and talented women to emerge during 90s rock and there was a ton of them.
I played STAR over again. Such good album in a year that was dominated by dance music. Star and Copper Blue were brilliant
There were so many awesome hits that flew under the radar and were lost in time in the 90's.
The grunge fad trampled a lot of really great music.
Every time I hear this song, I like it more... and I've been listening to it since Star released.
I had the CD in Highschool in 1995. My goodness can we go back!
I still have my cassette tapes of their two albums along with some of my 4AD faves like Pixies, The Breeders, Throwing Muses.
Love them. Great time for music. Belly and The Sundays were so unusual. They each created their own sound.
One of my favorite bands of the 90s.
Hearing this for the first time. Sounds great! I could hear XTC playing this one.
Is XTC still alive??
4ad , belly , breeders. Pixies etc. Wow. Thanks for the 90s
Saw them in Milwackee on the Lake Front....we were so blown away by them that we followed them for a week on tour.....best time ever....Gail fkg rocked
I have no doubt that Gail is a very talented bassist, but she just doesn't seem to fit the vibe of this band. She's like a hard rock bassist that got lost on the way to the show.
I just don't see how anyone can write a better pop song than this.
great song , its been stuck in my head for almost a quarter of a century now!
Ha yes!
Always enjoyed this band. Tanya came up with a lot of beautiful melodies.
Oh beautiful Tanya!!! A great songwriter with sweet vocal folds.
Every Belly album is a banger. In my opinion, every song on every CD is listenable, with no skips at all. That is a rare thing.
"Nevermind" by Nirvana is the other one with no skips for me
Not heard this in years, and I'm happy to say that it sounds better than I remember. :)
i love this so much. hello from canberra, other side of the world.
Love ya Belly, from a 90s teen!
I have both albums and listened to them numerous times since the 90s
This takes me back to HS! Loved Belly and Tanya
Legendary
Sooooo Goood!
Heard this song on a radio station (The River 93.9 Detroit/Windsor) last night for the first time since seeing Belly in concert many many years ago lol. Saw them with Catherine Wheel. Awesome show.
Still and always my favorite band of all time.
I've never loved an album for, like, 25 years. Thank you, Tanya, and the other guys, here and in the Muses. No, I'll just thank Tanya. Love her.
Same here! STAR will always be one of my favorite albums! ❤
Omgosh where have I been? I just discovered them! 😊 feed the tree
alot of the good band names are already taken in 94
Tanya is a national treasure
I love this band to this day.
Purrfect! Always a fan and always will be!
What a tune this is. Bloody love Belly.
God I miss the 90s and being a teenager
It was a great time to be in your mid-20's too...
My favorite 90’s band. 😘🖤
Found this video by accident...instant fan!!
Welcome! There's more too, equally good.
Saw them support REM in 1995, amazing band
Outstanding
Going to see them in Chicago! Can't wait!
this is my fave album of all time, it lasts the distance, i learn more every time i listen.
part of my life😀
Tanya was the true talent of Throwing Muses.
Love the Burns Hank Marvin model she's playing. Tanya always plays cool guitars.
Extremely unique song
Belly geat (Slow Dog my fave). Can't wait to see them live ..never thought I would get chance. As a Brit I "discovered" Tanya and Kristin late.
I'm also excited to see them live and never thought I would!! By the time I could make decisions about same (driving, etc) they were no longer together!! I'm seeing them in 5 days!!
Seriously thinking about getting rid to see them in October!!! Geez I was a freshman in high school when this came out!!
As a Brit? They were bigger quicker here than they were the States
Uma das melhores bandas de vocal feminino dos anos noventa, saudades!
Big fan that only have heard a distance.... Love this band!!
I love this song so much.
Loved them at first song in the album Belly ❤️ i was 18..
1994 😊 loved all the tracks !!
One of the best
Love Tanya Donelly.
They kick ass
Kick ass belly
Wow, always a favorite. I loved listening to Belly while doing artwork and printmaking. It went so well together! Thank you!
Love this song!
So he's lying on top again
Just like Gepetto with his doll
And he's right around the bend
And I can't get him out of this house
And if you bore him, you'll lose your soul to him
So that kid from the bad home came over my house again
Decapitated all my dolls
And if you bore me, you'll lose your soul to me
Hey Gepetto, where'd you put it? Oh Gepetto whoa whoa (2x)
And if you bore him, you're gonna lose your soul
(sha la na, sha la na, sha la na)
Hey Gepetto, where'd you get to? Oh Gepetto whoa whoa (2x)
Hey Gepetto, what'd you get me? Oh Gepetto whoa whoa
So he's lying on top again
Just like Gepetto
De la ptm tu música, que flash back!!!!
Omg I loved the drummer 🥰 still have this cd what a great album !
What I just love about bands like Belly, Throwing Muses and Breeders, aside from just being the best bands around but, it's that familiar sister thing about it. For example, where Tanya sings "...he's running around again", she squeaks her voice in a way that Kristin Hersh (from Throwing Muses/ and her family) does as well.
Kim and Kelley from the Breeders also have something like that going on where they can be hard to distinguish.
Than figure that these bands are also crazy for each other.. that is just too much for me!
Belly and Throwing Muses are fantastic for sure... Kim and Kelly of the Breeders were smart and talented but turned into train wrecks later on. Kristin and Tanya are still kicking it though.
Even though I have followed Belly since the 90s, I have never seen this video until tonight! Tanya as a blond is a goddess but as a redhead, just wow! As stunning as the music!
Agree... She's pretty damn cute as a redhead!
Totally back in the day!
Tanya Donnelly. Marvelous.
How am i 48 and just hearing this tonight for the first time? I love this song. So 90’s.
this is the clip with red Tanya. there is also a clip with blonde Tanya and their then new bass player
Good jam
Wonderful! Thanks.
Another great song by Tanya Donnelly and belly.
Tanya!!!!!
Loved it.
Tanya is so fabulous
Great song, great video.
I remember getting this cd by trading a tool cd and then getting it back for a white zombie cd. This is the 90s, and timeless
It's funny, all these modern feminists complaining about there are no strong female lead bands. And the 90's gave us many. Then the music industry brought us Spice Girls, Brittany Spears, and other cookie cutters cutouts of what they actually celebrated. Belly, The PIxies, The Cranberries, The Sundays, etc... I miss those days of actual strong female lead bands of the 70's, 80's and Early 90's
The Julianna Hatfield Three
Lush, Slowdive, Go-Go’s, Echobelly, Elastica, Bangles
love this song
I found them.
That is so sweet ❤
Reminds me of being a confused Teenager in Berlin 😂
I love the "Scully" hair.
1992, innit! :)
I remember there being 2 different music videos for this song.
Just found this band, excited to drop Lucy and catch up on All they songlist
Very underrated band.
If I could meet a bunch of musicians from all time for dinner and a chat. And a jam of course, Tanya would be one of them.
Totally miss how Jeans looked and felt during the 90s. Tanyas jeans in this video hit the mark.
Yeah the holey jeans with tights underneath was a cool trend, but it was a pisser to get a girl out of them in a hurry though!
Throwing muses, the Breeders, Belly.
Love this guitar work, song flows so gd well.
I remeber this song =)
I have all their CD'S.
