Tanya Donelly achieved the perfect amount of fame and recognition. She grew moderately famous and moderately wealthy, and has become a healthy, well-adjusted adult. I couldn't be more happy for her. She has her art to last, and is probably creating some more.

blazmaverick I've only cried two times watching TV and movies, once in the movie About Time when the father and son are playing on the beach, and the second time during The Walking Dead when Rick reunites with her infant daughter. That episode was a very close third.

    Untame my brain
    Give me a name
    Hear my faith
    Seal my fate
Unholy and dirty words I gathered to me
Thinking the point was keep what's mine for me.
    While he's laughing
    Hear my faith
    Seal my fate
And when you breathe, you breathe for two
And when you think you've finally found the perfect light
    I hope it's true
Unholy and dirty words I gathered to me
Thinking the point was keep what's mine for me
    While he's laughing
On every track I fractured every back
Thinking the point was step on every crack
    And he's laughing
    Hear my faith
    Seal my fate
And when you, breathe you breathe for two
And when you think you've finally found the perfect light
    I hope it's true
You say you saw him laughing
    I hope it's true
I'd like to see it happen
    I hope it's true
    Cause I can feel it

Thx for sharing the lyrics, it is much appreciated. I can barely make out about 2/3 of what she's singing, and my mind has been (rather creatively) the remaining 1/3 with whatever comes to minds (and also rhymes.) I am really, really grateful to finally see what the correct words are. It gives the whole song a different twist, from what I *thought* it was trying to say. Again, many thx for sharing.
“No wonder I can't write good song or paint decent picture. Those wealthy artists disproportionately amassed the wealth of creativity. Now, I will have to ask the government to force some art to be taken from [it's] creators and given to me.” Wacio, internet commenter

Long story but I am going to write it down anyway…
Beth and Jerry's relationship greatly reminded me of my parents' relationship for some reason. My parents were married at age 26-27 and had me at age 27-28. I was their one and only child, and my mom would sometimes dub me as a glue to their relationship (it's a good thing, guys). We lived a simple life. Just like any relationship, they had sweet and remarkable moments, and of course, my parents also have their fair share of fights… But that wasn't all.. Heck, before I was even born, my mom used to tell me that they had a lot of misunderstandings. My mom had stories about those days when she had to leave our house and head to the park to be alone with her thoughts, or even to her parents' place while she thinks about her relationship with my dad. Her mom (my grandmother) would tell her to love my dad and just understand him. Sometimes, I would even watch my dad drive his car and leave home, then he would come back again for thirty minutes or so with a some ice creams or treats to mellow down their moods. To be frank, my dad is a very good person, and so is my mom. They truly love each other, they talk about their plans, they work hard, they put their responsibilities first, they pray together (we're Christians by the way), but it's just that they had different convictions and outlooks in life.
Sometimes, it has come to the point that they decided to separate. The first time they did so was when I was around 12-14, and I remembered crying, pleading for them not to do that because I can't choose between them. It was also that time when I first heard Dad slamming the door, or even the two of them crying. As I grew up around 17-18, I was more like Summer who was completely fine with them having a divorce because they deserved to be happy even if it means separating (but seriously, I was trying my best to hold back the lump in my throat)... But it was a miracle that after everything they have been through, after all the arguments and debates, they would end up talking it out and patch things up. The alleged separations didn't happen. Sometimes, few hours after a heated argument, I would later find them holding hands and hugging each other for the sake to let go of everything...
Fights aside, they truly love each other. When Dad's not at work (he's a Seaman), he'd cook delicious food for us and he would prepare a fresh cup of coffee for him and Mom. Their text messages and chats are sometimes full of those silly love emojis and stickers. On Valentine's or Anniversaries, Dad would bring Mom a fresh bouquet of flowers and would treat us. Mom would even pick out watches, shoes, or clothes for Dad, and he would do the same thing for her. They would sometimes take turn massaging each other's backs (TMI sorry😂). Mom would help him out with any chores at home, and she bought furnitures and house tools that Dad would greatly appreciate. With the bloody COVID-19, Mom would always kneel and pray for Dad's safety as a Seaman from abroad. Dad would do the same thing for Mom. It's sometimes hard to believe that the same people who would fight and argue both on little and big things, would also be the same people who would mess around with each other, laugh together, and kiss each other goodnight.
Those past experiences are the reasons why I didn't want to have a love interest in the first place, not now, not yet. Not only was I still trying to finish my studies, and not only do I hate arguments in general, but the fact that I come to understand that love is just terribly bitter as it is also very sweet (not what I was expecting as a kid where love is like a fairytale). You get the great mushy stuff but you also get the arguments and fights. Like hellooo???? I've seen teenagers and college students get into relationships that lasts in either 10 months or 2 years, even adults do! My parents meanwhile had a handful of problems in their shoulders and their marriage was a rocky stony path, thinking of divorce a couple of times. But it was a miracle that they stuck and marched together for nearly 21 years despite everything else, because no matter what, they still love each other. At this point, I wished that I could find a strong and stable relationship that remains firm no matter what.
Since the quarantine, I decided to watch cartoons to pass time by. I finishd Steven Universe:Future, Star vs. The Forces of Evil, Gravity Falls, and just recently, I started watching Rick and Morty. Just this afternoon, I had a conversation with my mom and I told her about the episode "Rixty Minutes", of how Beth and Jerry saw their alternate selves living a great life and how they kind of wished that that was the path they've taken instead even if it meant aborting Summer and divert paths, only for their alternate selves to reunite in an unexpected twist of fate. My mom added that some people just wished to see the great things they achieved in life, but for her, she'd prefer to live the life she had now, and she's glad about it.
This got me thinking again. My mom used to tell me that a lot of guys wanted to have her way before she met Dad. Handsome guys, rich men, and some are sugar daddies who are willing to cheat behind their family's backs for my Mom's hand. But my mom stood with her dignity and said "no". Dad didn't even planned to be a Seaman in the first place. He wanted to take either law or nursing but fate didn't permit him anyway and he chose to be a Seaman instead (Dad was the youngest among the 9 siblings, both of his parents died around that time, and Law and Nursing schools are expensive). During my mom's pregnancy, she was diagnosed with Goiter and she also had a threatened abortion/miscarriage, nearly losing me in the process. At this point, I couldn't imagine what my life would've been if they both chose a different path, if my mom and dad didn't end up together.
Looking back, my mom would sometimes say, "You know what? I cannot imagine what my life would've been if I have chosen that path, or if I was with another man and not your dad. I wonder what would've become of me, or you… But guess what? I am glad with what I have right now. Your dad and I may have a lot of differences, but I am glad that he changed me into a better, decent version of myself... No matter what, your dad will always be my one and only love." "Some may say he is not that handsome, but I don't care. He's beautiful in my eyes anyway."
Challenges also rose on the path my parents chosen. One time, Mom didn't get the promotion she REALLY worked hard for and she cried because she felt like she was always a step behind from her coworkers. She told Dad the news. Wanna know what Dad said? "Your time will come soon. There is no need to worry, hon. I am not mad at you at all. I married you because of your goodness, not because of your job description."
    So… That's all for now

What a nice tribute to your parents. They have a great kid. My wife and I married at 26(probably within a few months of when this video was shot) after knowing each other for only a few months. In the 26 years hence, we have had to not only deal with the complexities of being two different people getting to know each other and having three children, but also having one of those children be severely autistic and need 24 hour care, 7 days a week..
Our oldest is a couple of years away from her PhD, but we will be caring for our autistic son until we cannot anymore. Our daily life is little more than absolute fear and uncertainty - what would be the worst thing that happens in a year to most sometimes happens multiple times a day for us.
Relationships are as complex as human beings are - you sometimes wonder about the past, old relationships, and what could have been, because that is what people do. But those are just moments, nothing more. My wife is as much a part of me as I am - she knows me better than I know myself and believes in my strength although I believe I am too weak to deserve her. When I am falling apart under the strain she lifts me up so I can face the challenges of the coming day. Because we are human and under unbelievable stress every day, we argue and get annoyed with each other. But she is still what gets me through my day - every day.
With our son, every morning is looking into a storm and although we don’t know how had bad the storm will be, it is always a storm - and it never ends. But when that storm inevitably comes today, we will face it hand in hand. And if one of us falls, the other will lift them up - it is how we have lived for the 16 years my son has been alive.
There are no romantic moments sitting in cafes, no vacations together, nor any sweet nothings and little lovely moments in our relationship, just the back breaking work of survival. Her love for me is the reason I’m still here and still fighting, and my love for her is the reason I’m still here and still fighting.
Love isn’t magical or mystical. Love is the work of being selfless and learning to give up a part of yourself so that another doesn’t have to. Love is simply being there not only when the world is beautiful, but also when it is collapsing around you. True love is difficult, complex, and requires sacrifice - and that is the most beautiful aspect of it.

Ugh.. why can't anyone make music like this anymore? Sure, there are a a lot of great bands making great music today, but nowhere near like there was in the mid to late 90s.

Agreed. 90s music was just better. I think a lot has to do with the raw quality if the recordings which adds a pleasant tone, technology has gotten so advanced that everything is perfect and has gotten rid of that edginess/vulnerability if that makes sense

This song gives me chills! so many memories I miss the 90's so much :( I remember we weren't fortunate enough to have UA-cam... I got the BMG music catalog and ordered CDs from bands who either had a good reputation, cool cover or cool band name since you could not readily listen to music like you can now. I liked the cover of Belly's albums and the Reverend horton heat, didn't care for Alice in chains, Jane's addiction or Porno for pyros as much but got really into Belly, PJ Harvey, Bjork, Soul Coughing, Hole, Combustible Edison and Weezer.

    Lyrics
    Untame my brain
    Give me a name
    Hear my faith
    Seal my fate
Unholy and dirty words I gathered to me
Thinking the point was keep what's mine for me
    While he's laughing
    Hear my faith
    Seal my fate
And when you breathe, you breathe for two
And if you think you've finally found the perfect light
    I hope it's true
Unholy and dirty words I gathered to me
Thinking the point was keep what's mine for me
    While he's laughing
On every track I fractured every back
Thinking the point was step on every crack
    And he's laughing
    Hear my faith
    Seal my fate
And when you breathe, you breathe for two
And if you think you've finally found the perfect light
    I hope it's true
You say you saw him laughing
    I hope it's true
I'd like to see it happen. I hope it's true
    'cause I can feel it
    I hope it's true

One of the most underestimated songs and albums of that time(Belly - King). The neighbours must have unvolentary enjoyed this music when I pumped it up to 10+ as the ref set in, while janking up my Bose 301 speakers to the absolute MAX. They never complained. Because quality showed.

How very Twee of them. I am ALWAYS down to jam to some Twee. Hearing this on Rick & Morty just reminded me about how I found out about a bunch of great bands from watching Daria back in the day. I found out about The Lightning Seeds from watching Daria. Amd of course Splendora since they did the intro music to Daria. But yeah, it's ALWAYS awesome to learn of music you've never heard before older OR newer. A newer example would be from Drive, getting to hear College and Electric Youth, which are both INSANELY good.
