😂 when Daltons talking about doing burnouts and say “back in the day” that made me laugh so hard! 😂.. what back in the day a year ago? 😂… no disrespect to Dalton he’s an amazing kid that just cracked me up.
Did Phantom not say in one of the first Live Feeds a month or so back, that She was going to taking over the editing and Pushing you guys to make more content and get out more videos? @@187Customs
I remember doing my father's square body. I built a tailgate out of some bed rails and expanded metal. It wasn't much, but he sure was proud of it. I was 16 and green. Thanks for the memories guys.
I get excited when i get the notification for the video, and then i remember im a subscriber, and I've already seen it, so i ended up watching it twice because why not... lol
I enjoy these videos alot. I know everyone's going through it lately. I've been dealing with a lot of in life alot of loss. Thanks for giving me an hour break from it 187 team. Keep killing it.
When yall started this build i was super excited. I remember my mom talking about my uncles burnout truck. Mom has since passed away, so I brought it up to dad. He said 'No son, your uncle was a burn out who drove a chevy truck." Kinda different then what yall got going on here...lmao. You guys rock, and I hope this youtube thing keeps on growing for you. Much love from Cali and the Fu@k Farms crew.
Body work is one f those things that anyone can do, but it takes a special person to have the patience to do it right......even when you aren't doing it "right"
Indeed,, the truck's too nice to crush those fenders. HEAVY DUTY nerf bars on every corner would be a good lick to keep it nice. We heard Shawn say he really didn't care BUT wouldn't it be good to save those extra straight quarters??
Best days are the ones where 187 uploads! Yall are getting me through this over 4 month unexplained illness! Keeping it white will be cool but some sorta retro 70s-80s graphics on it would be sweet! Something to break up all the white and burnt rubber.
Man you are so lucky that all the pain is coming off with the hotsy just saving your dad a lot of work I keep forgetting you're the lucky one that has somebody that does paint and body and you know what you're doing when you get to vehicles so it's not so much crap for him to do!! You better give the old man some love Shawn!
I LOVE 💕 THAT THE 187 CREW IS MADE UP OF AWESOME PEOPLE! You got a Father, Son, Grandson, and two best friends hanging out together and making memories. A match made in heaven for sure! Great job guys and thanks for the video 📸.
New Brake Line Kit is $100 at Summit.. I knew Shawn was going to go way further than he said when he bought this truck.. 😂😂 But I'm here for it! LS Fest is April 25-28.
30:51 for burnouts you should take off the back brakes all together (as they do in Australia) you could leave them, but than put a valve in it to be able to lock them out of the system or something like that
Stiff coil springs at rear end does better than leaf springs.Or coil over shocks with leaf springs. 35 years ago i had 69 charger and i would take 4 penny nail to block brake fluid at rear drum. MY GOOD OLD DAYS.
What kind of burnouts you guys planning on doing? American or Australian style? A hard learned tip, I would recommend installing belt cutters so as the tires come apart the strands are cut off so it doesnt destroy the fenders. I destroyed the quarter panel and inner/outer fender wells. I just use a 2x2 angle 1/4 thick and sharpen the bottom edge, just remember the bevel has to be on the backside in order to get good cuttin action.
I totally get what you’re saying about rust. I grew up outside Chicago, now live outside Louisville. I had been looking for years for a decent K5 or Bronco that wasn’t a rot box for way too much money. When I found a Bronco that was a former Nevada Trooper truck, I jumped on it. It’s not perfect, and needed a trans, but it’s not all rotted out. Anything else I was looking at was.
Phantom, single stage is basically Straight acrylic urethane with the tints built in,base clear is the base layer( laquer) with clear Acrylic urethane over top of it. Base clear has more staying power(will shine much longer) single stage will dull much quicker! BC can be waxed, single stage needs to be polished.(cut buff) to bring shine back up! Look around Ricks shop, somewhere im sire youll find a bottle of Nu Finish car polish! Thx
That truck is gonna be sick when its done I'm sure slick Richard will have it looking amazing when its finished i love what you guys are doing Phantom,Shawn, Mallory Aiden, Dalton, Erin all of you guys are doing an amazing job with everything keep up the great work
This is kinda sorta like getting the deluxe show quality paint job at MACCO, except you already spent too much time prepping, and they would have already had it sprayed, back together and rollin out the door... When my Dad was younger, he had a 55 2 Door Bel-Air hardtop. He put a fuel injected 327 and 4 speed out of a wrecked Corvette in it, and I think he said he put 4.33 gears in it. Him and his friends used to street race all the time back in the day. Anywayz, he wanted to get it painted so he spent a lot of time prepping and taking things off of the car and took it to the man himself, Earl Schiebs and got the deeeeeluxe paint job in black. He said he didn't know what they did wrong, but for some reason it looked incredible and it actually help up fairly well.
How you painted this is exactly how i painted my 58 apache, scuffed it, didn't fix any dents, dings, bondo chips, shot it john deere blitz black, then got a teal/blue color rattle can, prayed that on a piece of denim socked in paint thinner an whipped it on, patina style 🤘
Love your content its family-friendly guys are doing an awesome job love how Aiden has to work on is vehicles and help in the shop good to see a hard-working kid
My favorite buckets seats to put in a pickup are low back buckets out of an early 70’s Monte Carlo or Grand Prix. When using a Forklift/Tractor etc always put a C-Clamp on either side of the chain/strap going over the fork(s) to keep things from slipping, sliding, falling off and break or hurt someone
Man my dad raced circle track for almost 35 yrs. The division he ran run in line 6 cylinder engines built to the max. Believe it or not they can be built to sound awesome with a ton of torque. He raced full bodied late model stock style cars. They raced those engines so long that in our area it got hard to find blocks to build the engines any more and went to V8 crate engines. Those 6 cylinders are tough and hard to hurt until like anything else you build the crap out of them. But honestly I have heard many that sounded like a killer V8 running. Then you open the hood and see it's a straight 6. Port and polished head and aluminum rods with TRW pop top pistons. I grew up building those engines from the time I could hold a wrench in my hand. I could probably do it with my eyes closed at one time lol.
Man he has said " We didn't get got on this it was totally worth it" so much in the last videos so much, it makes it seem like you got got buddy...I just paid 1800 for a 85 stepside, Oklahoma only truck and its much cleaner. 6500 or whatever he paid and a 15 hr drive was you getting got pal
Glad we are getting our sunday's video regularly now and we all know you can build bad a$$ racecars now build us a badass burn out truck shot out to you Mallory for keeping these guys on their toes about the weekly videos you guys are the best let's go we can't wait
Re; the bed wood,, I don't remember which "RESTRO" shop has it but SRC "The Old Man's Garage" ordered new bed wood for his ol shop pickup and it was nice,, very nice.
I usually laugh when I hear someone saying how great a paint job is and that it has no “bondo” in it whatsoever. But on this truck it’s actually true and will look like it.😂 Not hating, You guys made it clear what it’s for and winning “best paint” isn’t it. Can’t wait till done and doing burn outs.🤘
In the video you guys said about putting a line lock on the truck for burnouts. I thought when they made burnout car, they cut the rear brake lines and stopped using them totally and just controlled the fronts with the brake pedal so you can control the burnouts better instead of locking the front brakes up with a line lock.
I got a nice 78 suburban core support, it's 100% solid, for sale , its been in the rafters of my building for close to 30 years, soits been out of the weather , was going to use it on my 79 square but my cab is to far gone to mess with the rest
I watch these guys with some of the things they do and if I ever get the opportunity to have them do it I would love them to help restomod my grandfather's 1987 Buick GNX. Would love to get it running and turn it into a fun cruiser that I could take to a drag event and win some day. Maybe one day.
Love that you guys are making the burnout truck nice. It might not be a show truck when your done. But at least it’s not going to be a beat up heap of junk like what seems to be popular in a lot of American burnout cars.
We need a property tour. Show up the outside of the house and shop. Looks like the pond is starting to fill up. Doe’s Phantom have a drone yet? Maybe an aerial picture of the new place? 😎
love watching you guys tear shit apart and man thats going to be one bad ass truck ..cant wate to see the end result when you are done ...love from OHIO....
Another great video guys thank you your knocking it out of the park this year hopefully youtube can do what you're hoping it will and we can continue seeing amazing content like this thank you again
I bought the same fenders. I’m regretting that decision the tops of the fender where it meets the door going to the top of the hood by the windshield seem to be jacked on every set of feathers I’ve had from them, saying, for the front of the fender where the grill in like Bezos go around the stampings are an exact and we’re pain in the ass I still had to open up the mounting holes because they were all off just a little bit. The quality just sucked. I wish you better luck and I’ve got an 88 suburban complete front cap. Core support intact. No rust holes. 4:15
For burn outs you need an ajustable brake biased valve so you can loosen up the rear break pressure but still have good controle over the front brakes!!
