  • In this cut of the deadlift-off between Stan "the Rhino" Efferding and Dave "Zeus" Zyski, Mark Bell and Silent Mike offer some more insight into these lifters' different styles and how Stan has rebuilt himself to be fitter than ever.
    Stan also teaches us how and why to start incorporating squat conditioning into our training, either with an introductory exercise, or cutting straight to good old-fashioned 20 rep squats.

    Looked at a video from 2009 with rhino pressing the 215's and fat mark in the back spotting him. Showed mom the difference on the two between this video and she said it looked like mark had started working out lol. It's damn impressive with stan's strength considering the change in size! Cool to see zeus match that 771!

    I F**KING LOVE You Mark! Awesome Footage. You really sealed the deal with those last clips of Kim Valentine. You had me laughing the whole video. You are a true inspiration. Please check out my youtube channel where I have my Sqwatt! and Deadlift from my first meet last July here in LI, NY. I was in the 275. As well as footage of my first eating challenge that I annihilated. In 5 weeks I have my first Strongman competition up in the Hudson Valley. Lift for Autism. I'm competing in the LW amateurs and that footage will be posted shortly after April 18th. After watching all those Rogue videos of the Arnold Strongman I'm Excited and Hyped. I'm Confident I'm taking first. Thank you for all the amazing videos from Supertraining as well as the Powercast which I am a devout listener of as I cook my scambby eggs and oats. Keep on Poopen on Big Brother of Iron.

    So let me get this straight with what Stan was saying at 7.20.... So by less eccentric load you mean you take the terminal swing portion out with stair sprints. I don't really see how it's less impactful though (unless you have a hamstring injury) as you would be putting your knee through a greater range of motion. Not saying that's a bad thing for most people but someone please clarify.

    Too often, I see lifters who have a good routine, but that refuse to change it or improve upon it with time. It is quite sad. It's okay to plan your workouts or use someone else's. In fact, I would recommend it if you have trouble with being self-motivated, but if you can find a way to improve upon it then you shouldn't hesitate to do so. Mark, at least recently, has shown no fear of changing things up if it suits him and he should be commended for it. Also, I like the new Rhino, but he needs his man beard back.

      @Pontus95 9 років тому +1

      If you can work heavy with a neutral lower back you really dont need it, obviously you could probably pull more with a belt but what I mean is that there nothing to worry about if form is on point!

    Why is acceleration from the floor important on a dead-lift? Is it to prevent fatigue or grip fatigue? Reason I'm asking recently got into some heavy weight for myself 320lbs on the dead-lift may not sound heavy to most but for me past injuries and the fact i'm 27 and started 3 years ago not knowing what the hell I was doing and just now following a decent strength program. I've went from a 135lb deadlift - a 320lb deadlift in 6 months, squat 95lbs to 330lbs in 6 months, bench from 95lbs to 240lbs in 6 months and ohp bar to 152 lbs in 6 months. So i'm doing awesome for my strength but i mean 320lbs is heavy and its slowly moving off the floor is this bad or just keep training the way I train. 5 x 5 style for all lifts and 1x5 for the deadlift.
