- So ever since I got the cheap Mk5 Golf GTI Edition 30 the clutch has been slipping, this meant that no matter what.... we couldn't use the power, even in stock form! But after a trip to Midland VW and having fitted a TTRS Clutch kit to the car we can finally start chasing more power! Stage one from APR Tuning sorted this promptly. Join me today as we see what sort of improvements we get over the stock 0-60 after taking the Edition30 OVER 300bhp!
Probably why circa 300bhp front wheel drive hot hatches have a LSD. I used to lease a Cupra 290 and that thing was a handful off the line. Never once launched it as it seemed pointless. You are right about in gear acceleration.....that's where the fun is.
mine did a 5.3 on dsg on the draggy timer. ps4s and traction off with launch control active, held the acceleration just under wheel spin the flatted it just before 60

I am suprised that the work you have done hasnt resulted in some better 0-60 times. Maybe the same set up would be better in the summer with some more heat in the tyres. Im pretty excited to see the up and coming parts to this. I would love to see the journey to stage 2+!
Purely due to traction issues it seems. May try again with an anti lift kit and suspension?
@@matimcfetridge I have Whiteline anti lift kit on my ED30 and it makes a big difference.
@@matimcfetridge yes anti lift kit will stop the wheel hop and make a massive difference to traction.
I got a early 2007 plate VW Caddy 1.9 TDI (BLS ENGINE CODE) I just hit 300,000km. It's a mix of Golf and Touran, great little van. I've had to replace axels, starter motor, alternator pully, tyres, and exhaust. I did a full delete on the exhaust and cat and she sounds like a Cummins baby nephew. Doing a timing belt change tomorrow and I'll tune it soon
0 to 60 is not relevant. In gear acceleration is what counts. A lotus Elise does 60 in 5 something but is slow after 60
100% agree, the in gear acceleration is crazy different but with 2wd the 0-60 is massively compromised!
@@matimcfetridge my mk2 Cupra has 300bhp on a stage 1... even in the dry in hot weather, you just can't get enough traction for 0 to 60 records. It's what it does in gear and overtaking range that counts.

I would go to rtech and get there asr map for the traction control system for £200-£250 will help with the drivability
My Ed30 had an APR stage 1 remap and it was horrible, also running lean. Took it to R-Tech for a stage 1 remap and the difference is night and day. Makes less power on the R-Tech map but a much safer map and so much nicer to drive with Nikis traction control and throttle mapping.

The APR map has been on since before the clutch was done! Next map will be R Tech for sure, excited to see the difference

i rly wonder why a 310 hp car couldnt make it faster meanwhile my a3 1.8t does it in 8.1 stock
All due to traction issues, I think 60-100 would be a huge difference!
Love a 6spd standard but hit 6.8sec 0-60 bone stock

Don't think these times are accurate. The times should be quicker with a stage 1. Tuning technics is pretty good for car mapping
Its more just the wheels spinning, car simply cannot get the power down with stock chassis!
What are the bulbs you fitted to the car mate? And did they throw up a code on the cash due to canbus?
Trying to set faster 0-60 times with traction left on, is like trying to get pregnant while using condoms 😅
Turn the traction off and send it properly 😉
If you wanted true figures to quote, using a phone also isn't best idea - probably max a 5Hz GPS so accuracy will be poor. Dragy / Vbox uses 10Hz

The 0-60 isn’t accurate because it was spinning and traction control was cutting power and you weren’t shifting fast

Quattro vs FWD, the edition cant get it down yet. Maybe some suspension modifications will sort it!
@@matimcfetridge Idk but my friends Normal GTI Stage 2 k03 is faster on the quarter mile then the quattro and by 0-100 they were pretty much neck in neck

Next do the cam follower and a carbon clean (manual carbon clean not the hydrogen shit)
