Mk5 GTI is the best GTI generation so far, my is a 2007 Manuel in Candy White BWA engine with factory power boost to 170kw. My forever car for sure.

I would keep your eye on good survivor stock MK5 GTI's. In 3-5 years I expect them to go up in value 10 to 15k. Why? Because most have been modified like crazy, are in terrible condition, have too many miles, or have been scrapped. Hence there will be very few if any still on the road in 5 years time.

This has got to be one of VW's best work. MK5 must have been a huge risk, but it was definitely worth it.
Also, 120K as a starting price sounds reasonable, considering the practicality of the car. Ownership costs make sense. Only question is, where do you get a G5 that is this clean?
Also, if you still have that GTI poster, we need to see it hahaha.
