  • Is this online beauty school a scam? Or is it a valuable resource for anyone interested in improving their makeup and hair skills? I tried it so that YOU can find out. Here are the questions I set out to answer in this review:
    1. Is Online Makeup Academy legit?
    2. Is it better than the free tutorials on UA-cam? If so, why is it worth paying for?
    3. Who is it for? Aspiring makeup artists only? Or could it also be interesting for people who just really love makeup and want to get better at it?
If my answers to those questions make you curious about trying Online Makeup Academy, use my discount code for $100 off: THESTYLESTUMBLER$100OFF
Some people reported issues with my code so the technical team created a second discount code for those people: STYLESTUMBLER$100OFF

    FTC Disclosure:
I am not being paid to review Online Makeup Academy. But they waived the tuition for the Elite Career Path program so that I could review the course.
    TLDR:
As far as I can tell, Online Makeup Academy are who they say they are, do what they say they do, and even offer great value where I wasn’t expecting it.
    1. They are legit.
    2. They definitely add value over UA-cam’s free tutorials. The individual feedback from your personal mentor is the largest added value, but the credentials (the OMACA Approved Professional Certificate and PRO Card) are an extra benefit as well.
    3. I think this course is ideal for aspiring makeup artists who live in areas without access to in-person training. It might be overkill for everyday makeup lovers who don’t want to work in the industry, but if makeup is something you are truly passionate about, having a personal makeup mentor might be worth the price for some people.
    ADDITIONAL INFO:
    CERTIFICATE
The OMACA Approved Professional Certificate simply means that you successfully completed the Online Makeup Academy course. And considering the quality of the tutorials, the feedback from the personal mentor, and the fact that your mentor will request to see you re-do your looks until they are good enough, in combination with the ICOES accreditation, I think the certificate is meaningful. But it is not a license.
    LICENSING
Licensing is a complicated issue because requirements vary widely depending on where you live and work, and not all states require a makeup artist to be licensed. Luckily Online Makeup Academy provides more information about this on their website, including links to the state authorities responsible for defining local licensing requirements in each of the 50 US states. If you want to know what the requirements are where you live, the best way is to contact your state authorities directly. The OMA page with the links for all 50 US state authorities is here:

    ACCREDITATION:
ICOES (the International Council for Online Educational Standards) is a foundation based in the Netherlands dedicated to enhancing the quality and standards of online educational products. (Source: icoes.org/)
On their legal page (icoes.org/legal-information/), you can find information on exactly what the accreditation means.
