    What a beautiful revolver. I think the K frame is my favorite, not too big but still has a 6 shot capacity and the 3" barrel is probably the best for all purpose use.

      All the vintage service revolvers make great carry rigs and there are some companies and outlets with holsters and grips to make it whatever suits you.I carry a J-frame everywhere.The K frame is a better carry.

    Revolvers are certainly still relevant for CCW use. They also make shooters slow down and focus on the fundamentals of good firearm marksmanship. Also make great training tools for new shooters.

    My late father had a Model 66 in 2-1/2 bbl in 357 from the early 1980s. The Model 66 is the stainless steel version of Model 19. I carry it in a Desantis pancake type holster.

    That’s an awesome firearm, I so wanted it when I was shopping for a revolver. Price was out of my budget ended buying a used S&W 13-3 almost similar. Difference is definitely the weight had for a few months now. I use primarily for solo hiking and camping. Maybe let’s see if Santa brings me Christmas.

    I have one. I swapped out the wood for the rubber grip that came with it only because it fit my hand better, but I do like the looks of the wood grip. I also added some paint to the front sight as it was very difficult for me to see it, the "night sight" was pretty useless. I really wanted to get the 8 round version of this revolver, but they are very difficult to come by.

    I do have "revolver days". Not sure if it's nostalgia or memories or just 'cause I'm old. But I do pick days and say "Today is a revolver carry day". On my revolver days I either carry my 3" Python or my 4" Dan Wesson 715VH. I have wanted one of these Model 19 Carry Comps for some time. Everyone who has one loves it. Everyone who reviews it loves it. I think I need one...

    With that compensator on it, that barrel hardly moves with the .38. The price is nuts (1300-1400 USD? Yow!), but... I guess you can't have it all.

    I had one and really, really like it-other than actually shooting it. Across multiple types of ammo, it was always blowing crap up into my face from that port. On the range with eyepro it was an annoyance, but I just wasn’t comfortable with carrying it defensively out of concern for my eyes if I had to use it so I ended up getting rid of it. I liked everything else about it.

    K-frame S&W is my weakness. About perfect I think. I have a pre-1980 M19. It is probably my favorite revolver I own. I know about the 19 & 586 L-frame Comp guns. If I had to choose? M19 all day. Those wood stocks are real nice too. Agree about carrying it with them.

    I love the original model 19, but one problem I have is when cooking the hammer, the final click seems to be more difficult to consistently engage than on other revolvers. Is the action improved on the performance center in terms of that final click?

  • @eternalmercenary463
    @eternalmercenary463 15 днів тому

    Sexy gun! I've had my eye on it for a while. I own a performance center 686+ 4" and a 627 5" v-comp.
    These guns are already expensive, so why does the Performance Center nickel and dime consumers on options? A $12-1600 dollar gun should come cut for moon clips and chamfered cylinders, and especially in this case when the gun is called a carry comp. My revolvers are carried, they are working guns, not range toys. I have forgone the capacity gains for cartridge performance, my choice. But even my polymer guns come cut for a red dot and have three magazines out of the box. They are produced with a carry mindset. It baffles me S&W plays this game with revolvers when they are up to speed in the carry mind set with their M&P series. Sorry for the rant, but maybe if customers start talking, S&W will start listening.

    • @dmw3086
      @dmw3086 15 днів тому

      I get the issues with the key lock,finish and top strap being drilled. My model 19s finish wasn’t the best, it did burn the finish on the cylinder and as for the lock it’s not going anywhere as much as I’d hate to say it. Grips are easily replaced and not for a ton of money either, sleeved barrels while I don’t care for the aesthetic custom makers like Korth use them and I’d also imagine that when it comes to canted barrels it’s probably easier to fix it with sleeved than one piece barrels. I don’t think new smiths are junk but they definitely have some things they need to change to make their functionally good working guns better.

    @graywind4326 15 днів тому

    Well mine sucked, less than 500 rounds the frame cracked which stopped the cylinder from rotating. It also spit debris in my face every shot. Biggest disappointment. I did not think the comp helped it at all to shoot flatter. Certainly not worth unburnt powder hitting your face. Are you going to have safety glasses on during a self defense shooting? No so it was almost a non-starter.

    I'd have to take a hard pass on this one and go with one produced in the early to mid 1970s. Hell, Taurus produces better revolvers than anything S&W has on the market today.
