    I agree, that this is a beautiful piece of wood, I don't think the remaining cracks will be a problem. Really looking forward to the finished product... It will be stunning! Great vid also!!

    Doing a second part is much better then to hurry trough the projrct my friend. I love watching your videos, even though i am not a wood worker at all. I am also curious where it is leaking.     I agree with you, I think the wider base is more aesthetically pleasing, but also will make that large pedestal bowl more stable. Happily awaiting the final product!

    Wow D, you are definitely wearing yourself out on this one! I'm glad you're sticking with it despite the continuing issues. I like watching you think on camera and try to talk out the problems you're having and how to fix them. I do that talking through problems with myself quite often.     Next time just get a bucket of CA glue and fill them all up

      Next time! I did with a whole bucket of resin and it just keeps cracking, you can hear it just like a jar does during canning.

    Your night have to fill that hole with resin. It could have moisture inside.
    Lot of repairs on this one and large and in charge piece.

    You mentioned adding acetone. I wonder if some of that soaked in and mixed with the colored resin and is causing your leak.

      Thank You, it's shouldn't have bothered the existing resin like that but it's a possibility, and I have though of it

      Thank You Dennis, my OCD is playing hell with me on this one and it's causing me to over think the process for perfection, I spent and entire day fixing cracks and re-sanding it each time it cracked, UGH ! lol

    looks so good! and waiting to work on it might get that strange drip situation to stop. I know its sealed on the outside, but when you get deep enough on the inside the drip may return. extra time may get it to stop. :-) cant wait to see it completed! your work is always amazing.

      Fingers crossed! Thank You Nicole, the only thing I can think of for that resin being runny is the acetone some how reached it down in side but it should have evaporated and allowed the resin to set up and cure like the rest has.

    I don't know if you're trying to show us your full commitment or how much you kick butt. Maybe you're trying to earn a name for yourself. "Tenacious D"? Regardless, I declare that Doug deserves a problem-free project, soon!
    Seriously, Doug, solid work, commitment and demonstration of many repair methods. You've taught me a lot with this trying piece.
    One last thought. We had discussed resin shrinkage, specifically when we were both working with a pear-resin blank. I finally cut into mine today and discovered my 2x4 waste blocks had turned into spurce-crete. I guess three days to set meant that resin was stabilizing the whole mess. Anyway, I learned from it, have it cleaned up for a second pour, and I'll order then next batch after clicking post. Have a great weekend.

      Thank You Jay, I've only used pine a couple times, I find it leaks resin of it's own and it tends to soak up the resin if it's dry.
