  • Giving a run down on oil injection, this is a Kawasaki Ke100 but will be very similiar to other 2 stroke engines!

This really helped me understand how this all works. I’m restoring a 1971 Kawasaki G4 TR100 and had no idea that it’s not premixed.

Your videos are saving me. The previous owner apparently took some of the engine apart, lost the oil injector gear, and put it back together. I guess he mixed the oil and fuel into the gas tank. Parts are about $30 for the whole gear/shaft assembly. Without this I probably would have reassembled it without knowing. Thanks.

The clear oil lines you have are also a good idea. Easy to see if you have air in The lines. I agree that it the engine came with oil injection you should use it. As long as it's maintained it should work just fine.

Your video was very informative. I was given a 1984 Kawasaki KE100 and the owner said that the oil pump was not working. When I kicked it over I noticed immediately by the sound of the piston that something was wrong. I pulled the head and examined the cylinder wall/piston and noticed some scarring. I ordered a new piston and am having the cylinder bored out. How do i know the oil pump is working? Does it need to be primed? Is the flow rate of the oil very noticeable? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

very good video. I'm restoring a KS125 and the pump is the same . . . One problem I've had is transmission oil leaking behind the pump then out of the engine (profusely) when engine is running and sitting on the kickstand.
I don't think there is a seal involved . . . seems like the only thing holding the oil in the crankcase behind that gear is the gasket. Thanks to this video I'll try a new gasket, even though I hate to take this thing apart and bleed it for about the 4th time!! Anyway, apparently there is crankcase oil circulating around that gear that could leak out behind the pump if the gasket is bad right? THANKS FOR ANY IDEAS

I'm in the process of removing my rotery crank from the crankcase on my 1975 kawasaki G5 100. But I can't get it out of the crankcase housing. I have the rotery valve plate off and now I'm stumped on how to proceed. Tried using a pusher/puller tool and that got it to move a little bit but now it's just stuck and I can't move it at all. I wish I could post a picture so you have a better idea of what I'm talking about. Please help. Thanks!

Hey Johnny, good deal! These are pretty tough old bikes and will take a beating. Bunch of different types of oil out there but I always run just a 2 cycle air cooled oil, lots of price ranges from racing to cheap stuff but I usually run the cheap stuff. Wouldn't think outboard stuff would be good since it's for a liquid cooled engine. Glad the video helped and thanks for watching!

Hi JFrost! Great Video! I just picked up a low mile, 2001 KE100, and it stutters and hesitates from time to time at lower revs, but runs like a champ when I give it some throttle and wind the engine to the higher rpm's. Any thoughts or suggestions please? maybe a carb adjustment? Can you do a video? (I ordered a new filter as its original and the sponge surround on it has decintegrated.) Thanks for your help.

Pay attention to what he said about taking the pumps off and running pre mix.Not a good idea. Some engines were designed with those pumps to be strictly used. You can fry your engine up eventually.Clean the pump if it has a tight spot,go buy new throttle cable assembly, fix it right.
