    Hi Ash, I just gotta say you have mad teaching skills 😊 I have always been too intimidated to make my own pasta. This weekend I’m pulling my Moms Atlas out of the pantry that has been collecting dust and making this recipe. Thank you ❤

    Cheese sauce looks delish.... I think I might add some garlic powder for flavour & sprinkle on dry dill for colour. ;) First I ever heard of or saw hooch..... Started my SD well over a year ago & never experienced hooch after storing in fridge for lengthy periods. The grey colour makes me think mold..??? I guess the smell test will tell if it's gone bad....

      The dark Grey hooch is not mold. I promise you will know when you see mold. It has spores in it. I had mine mold once after reconstituting some dried starter. I was so worried I had lost my starter. I threw out all the parts next to the mold and got a new jar to feed it in and fed it one more time. It worked! Whew! Now, I only keep 50g of starter and have a separate jar for discard. I also clean out any jar I use so there isn't anything on the side of the jar above the level of the starter. All to keep from mold happening. These are preventative steps. Good luck! 😊

    Yum! I’ve done something similar before where I make a cheese sauce with discard and then use it to make a baked mac n cheese with breadcrumbs on top! Def excited to try making my own pasta soon!

    do not dump the hooch. mix it back in .

    • @turnerfarm
      @turnerfarm  6 місяців тому +3

      I prefer to dump it :) You absolutely can mix it back in for a more sour flavour! just my personal preference and neither is wrong :)

    • @fawnjenkins7266

      @@turnerfarmThanks for saying why you dump it. I have heard both, but need to know the why for making the decision for myself. 😊
