Yea ely defenders are really strong, especially against early riders. They can do the "Quetzali Cannon", so two hits with a 2 attack unit on a defending wa in a city and a kill with the de. Lifting that siege needs four hits from 2 attack units instead of 2, and retaliation damage is way higher, for just 1 star more. Also, their zoc can really screw you over. Archery or an early giant would probably have given you a better chance at winning, but dealing with ely in the early game is quite a struggle. You could have gotten a road connection to your cap, placed the gate of power and then used the pof instead of the gate in the city where you got your wall though, that would've been an extra giant and two extra spt for just 6 stars
I will say, that was in beautiful game! I recently played against a 1600 elo player. I was Hoodrick playing against Oumaji and I couldn’t figure out how to stop the extra speed, defenders and their zone & control!
I want to inform though, the game was about to flip in your favor if you survive that turn, his push was for your capital but with too many defenders & no range. Only providing a meat shield with gaps. If you placed the gate of power with 3 roads from your closest cities, costing only 9 stars, you’ll get a giant push & be able to keep your swordsman slowly approaching in secret with your riders saving your second frontline city. Giving you a tempo for your support cities, good road placement, swift potential to a second task completion, and some savings for a tech like archery or a funny construction for giant spam
Interesting game!
I would have unsieged with the rider, not the warrior. That set you up to get resieged, and lose more early game tempo.
This also would have given you a turn to claim the ruin in the back.
Finish turn by training a warrior in the capital to get ready to continue to fight for your city, turn end.

I think it's pretty standard to avoid the village you find on turn 0 with your warrior and capture it with the Politar because if you do so you can pick up forestry for 6 stars and not 8 and also explore more

@@demetriobuffa4691 I mean isn't that exactly what he did in the last Continent Elyrion mirror match? I don't think the "What?" he's saying in the video means that. It's the coincidence of him going to north/northeast that basically going straight to his capital
They gambled and won, I think it's wise to at least step on the village if you do want to claim it for some reason
usually I think that I did a misplay if I get into that village because I expand less rapidly and I have less chance to find another village

While he was incredibly lucky, he played very well and utilised a feature that is rarely used-he was definitely skilled
