Real simple, take the solenoid off the vehicle and check the resistance with an ohm meter. should be around 24 ohms. None means open circuit, too high means shorted.

Having limp mode on 1/2 gear and even worse, the OBD port wont work because the fuse is blown due to it using the same fuse as 1 of 3 cigarette ports which has the more than a foot of wire burn going to the fuse box under the hood, can’t read any codes so I don’t even know what exactly is wrong. Tried swapping out MAF parts, checked fuses, Will try to change TCM & shift solenoid this week, we will see what’s wrong, just in case someone has this BS happen to them, worst case junk the trunk get another one

Which one is solenoid A and which one is Solenoid B. Is there any difference in solenoid A and B? Do I purchase 2 of the same catalog number for A and B to be replaced? I have a 2015 5.3 Yukon with a transmission 4L60-E-RWD. Will you tell me what the catalog numbers are using AC Delco parts for these 2 solenoids.

What did you end up doing, Chris?

    • @chrisjumper3198
      @chrisjumper3198 3 роки тому +16

@@emyndridrinemy3346 I ended up calling a transmission mechanic and he said it would cost me about $1,100.00 to replace solenoid A & B. He also said replacing the solenoids would not fix the problem and more then likely I would need to have my whole transmission rebuilt at a cost of $3,000.00. So after giving it some thought, I went to O'Reilly's and purchased 2 tramps to drive the front wheels up on, and purchased 2 solenoids and a transmission filter and gasket kit for less then $50.00.
I drove the front wheels up on the ramps and put 2 other supports under the vehicle for safety.
I climbed under the vehicle with my tools and oil pan to catch the transmission fluid.
I removed the pan and changed solenoid A & B. I also cleaned the rod gears that are behind the solenoids.
I cleaned the pan real good and put the new gasket on and put the pan back in place and replaced all the bolts. Thinking I was finished, I realized I forgot to put the new transmission filter in. So I removed all the bolts again, put the new filter in and replaced all the bolts again. I filled it up with transmission fluid and then I was finished. It took me about 2 hours. It could be done in less time if you have a power drill to remove the bolts. Don't use power drill when replacing the bolts though. Hope this helps! If I can do this solenoid replacement anybody could do it. Yukon runs real good now and I saved a lot of money.

    Good vid!
Is it trash in the fluid that gets into those solenoids and screws them up?
Im doing a leaky trans cooler line on my 07 Sierra this weekend and figured id drop the pan and change the filter while im under it. Someone told me to remove the solenoids and clean them while i have the pan off, kind of a preventative maintenance...
Is it worth doing, or just leave it be?
I heard theres a screen on the end that can get clogged with trash...

So really it's not the electrical component that commonly goes bad on these solenoids, but the fact that they are getting clogged? In retrospect, all you would have to do is clean them out instead of buying new ones and make sure you change the old filter with a new one and change transmission fluid am i correct?

Hey great video I like the test equipment that you have, but I'm working from home without one of those, so I pulled the solenoids and tested with a battery, both would click and stop air from flowing through them, my transmission is not shifting right and when I put it in reverse to back up it goes into reverse but it like you have the park brake set and the vehicle does not move and the engine does not Rev up it is like your engine is in a bind. Could the shift solenoid be bad even though they test good?

Hey I know your comment is a year old but did you ever find out what the problem was ? .... It sounds more like you have a different problem like a faulty nock sensor ... They adjust the timing in the motor but they effect the transmission, mainly the solenoids because the 4l60e is electronic and the electrical issues caused by the bad nock sensor will do exactly what your saying about the not reving up and acting like it's in a bind .... may not be the nock sensor but it sounds like it to me ...

    Thanks for the video.
I hear a click when I turn On the 1-2 & 3-4, but no click when I turn Off.
The TCC I hear a click when I turn Off, but not when I turn On.
    Is that normal? Thank you

Just more B.S that can go wrong. Poor engineering, why didn't they put a beefy 350 or 400 trans with overdrive. My trailblazer is to under powered for it's size ,then again poor engineering. No substitute for cubic inch. (While spitting my chew on the ground, Sum-a-bitch)!!!!!!!😂
